Re: Roundup: Here's What Was Revealed In Nintendo Direct E3 2021

@BlueOcean
That's correct but I mean before covid, it's like they have developed very few games, Animal Crossing and what else? Luigi's Mansion 3 was developed by Next Level before being acquired. What have Nintendo been doing?

From what I heard that some of the dev teams usually responsible for creating new entries helped out other studios here and there., like Retro Studios did.

Also I can see Nintendo trying to come up with something and ultimately cancelling stuff similar to the MP4 situation where MP4 switched hands from Bandai Namco to Retro Studios.

@BlueOcean Your assesment is a bit incorrect. Metroid 5 is a sequel to Metroid Fusion for GBA. Mercury Steam worked on a Metroid 2 remake, that was hated because AM2R, a fan remake of Metroid 2, that was shut down by Nintendo was more faithful to a 2D sprite Metroid than a 2.5D than was done by Nintendo itself.

Metroid 5 won't bring any of that emotional baggage, as this did not surplant a fan project (on an active Nintendo IP), that never had a chance to exist.

Re: The E3 2021 Awards Winners Are In, But Nintendo Lost Out

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@Slowdive I dunno, for me there was just one genuine pleasant surprise, which was Metroid Dread.
I am not caring for BotW or the other Zelda adjacent IPs. I wished that Mario Party Allstarts would have been a DLC to Super Mario Party instead.

The lack of F-Zero with each direct will always sting...

As someone that loves the Metroid franchise I am so happy thr mainline Metroid Story gets advanced with Dread.

As someone who also loves F-Zero it was a slap in the face that Nintendo is parroting the "something new" mantra while just offering a remake of Advance Wars 1+2 (and throwing Captqin Falcon into a volcano )

I hope if someone gets to interview a decider of Nintendo and they bring out the "something new" excuse, please direct to Adcance Wars. Thank you .

Re: Bandai Namco Was Offered New Pokémon Snap Thanks To Its Work On Pokkén Tournament

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@RupeeClock Not that you alluded to that, but given the technological advances Stadium is obsolete, especially with Sword & Shield entry and further ones offering that sweet 3d battle on the big screen.

Now if the Switch follow up will be a stationary home console again and they will offer dedicated handhelds, one could see another Stadium entry. But than again the connectivity and everything is online anyways, it will be unlikely.

Re: Platinum Studio Head Doesn't Think Next-Gen Hardware Will Be As "Ground-Breaking" As The Switch

Lemmy_the_Koopa

I can echo the comment section and also agree that I am not excited about the PS5 / XboX as I was when I put in the first Playstation CD, after gaming on SNES.

I always enjoyed the gimmicks Nintendo had to offer and more often than not enjoyed things they brought to the table. Even the WiiU.

With now having upgraded my PC again, and the current console architecture actually being those of a PC, I hardly see the point other than platform exclusives and ease of running games (no spec comparison, you know it just works). So far, I enjoy the Switxh more, as I am sometimes on the go, sometimes I want to play in bed a bit longer and play a session, and when I get into the big TV mood, I can go there, too.

Re: PlatinumGames Unsure Astral Chain Will Remain Exclusive To Switch, Ultimately It's "Nintendo's Call"

Lemmy_the_Koopa

I think Nintendo holds on to the rights of Astral Chain, it's a "grown up" IP, Nintendo can offer to have a catalogue that will appeal to all ages. While Mario & Zelda are more transcendent in terms of age, Astral Chain, much like Metroid Prime feel a bit more mature and can cater to an audience that is - for the lack of a better word - a bit more edgier (and while this word has some negative conotation, I mean it in a more neutral way, think more The Conduit and Red Steel offerings for Wii).

Re: The Wonderful 101 Remaster Gets Two New Kickstarter Stretch Goals

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@fafonio At least they returned the IP and not hogging in it, letting it be dormant with Platinum not able to touch it. This Kickstarter would not be possible if Nintendo kept the IP, nd given the still good working relationship, Nintnedo might be returning to the Wonderful 101 world. Though my first guess is finishing up Bayonetta 3 and Astral Chain 2.

Re: The Wonderful 101 Remaster Gets Two New Kickstarter Stretch Goals

Lemmy_the_Koopa

While nor backed yet, I think I ultimately will pull the trigger as their are no risks involved porting. Heck I even guess with the timeframe they are likely just optimizing things.

For those fretting about extra add ins, I guess these will happen as added DLC, so there won't be any risk in pulling the trigger for the base game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 14th November (Europe)

Lemmy_the_Koopa

I am curious if Nintendo will have a direct soon, now that Pokemon finally launched. Apart from Animal Crossing and the Tokyo Mirage Session: FE there seems to be no real killer app on the horizon apart from titles announced with a TBA and even those are limited in numbers.

Nintendo is probably still presenting the now strong and existing library to potential new buyers, but I am certain they want to keep the existing players engaged with strong titles.
