Re: Koji Igarashi Talks About Fan Feedback And How It Impacted Bloodstained's Development

Lemmy_the_Koopa

For those that suggest to play Bloodstained on another console. Unfortunately I don't have that luxury. Also what is wrong with expecting a non-flawed version, especially after they said that the PAX version they showed had had issues due to heating issues.

The problem seems to have been clear for them and they chose to deceive about it. They shipped out other versions and held the Switch version back to angle for more amicable reviews.

So yeah, I am expecting them to fix this and rather in a timely manner.

Re: Nintendo Switch Lite Officially Revealed, Launches This September

Lemmy_the_Koopa

This is great for Nintendo and Devs alike.

1) You have a cheaper entry point for those that don't liek / need to play on a TV
2) It's a dedicated handheld and I assume with the controlers baked in and HD rumble and motion sensors removed, this will probably have a better battery endurance
3) It still has access to most / all of the switch titles.

The thing that will be good for Nintendo and Devs alike will be, they can bury the 3DS and don't need to fiddle with extra SKUs.

Re: A Rewind Feature And Two NES Games Are Coming To Nintendo Switch Online This Month

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Currently I enjoy and play SMB3 with a friend, as she disclosed she regretted to never finish the game on her own. The other thing that is holding me towards this service is the discount, but if you factor in that you only save 20,00 € when you buy those games brand new and online it just subsidizes the cost if a service I hardly use for the online functions.

If they add a SNES library, I probably wouldn't stick around, but currently the service will run out as is and I already deactivated the auto renewal.

Re: Bloodstained Team Releasing Multiple "Small Updates" To Fix Performance Of The Switch Version

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Well, I just cancelled my physical copy of the game. I figure by the time it is properly fixed, the news cycles will inform me and I might get the game on a serious discount in top of that, though more likly this will be digital.

Was looking forward to this one, because the glowing reviews of the other versions...

It's a shame though, because I wanted to gift one version to a friend...

Re: Nintendo Is Waiting For Next Level Games To Let It Know When Luigi's Mansion 3 Is Ready

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Here is hoping for a spooky october release.

Also I do commend Nintendo for such a move that should be basic around devs (but is not). That's also how they get their quality titles; because you can't bring your A game, when you can't rest or have to worry if you are not on team crunch you will be laid off.

Sure, Nintendo still put some pressure on with showing the game, but they also postponed Animal Crossing that was slated for 2019 to 2020, so I would not put that beyond them, in case of need.

However, they pretty much showed already a slew of contetn from Luigi's Mansion without any big bugs and I guess Next Level games just applies polish right now, or go bug splatting...

Re: We Believe In E3, Says Nintendo

Lemmy_the_Koopa

For Nintendo this makes sense, since their E³ presence is not the Direct, but the three day Tree House stream where they can showcase and talk in depth of all the games, sometimes showing a game multiple times. This is great since people get to see more than a trailer or they can show more gameplay and talk about small tidbits and quirks, that could not be shown on the direct, due to time constraints.

Re: Devil May Cry Unleashes Stylish Hack And Slash Action On The Switch Next Week

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@XBontendo Well if that is the case, Switch owners won't see a lot of new games from Capcom as the reportedly said that they want to use this engine for more games... Not gonna cry over spilled milk, but also not gonna support them with my cash if they can't be bothered to make the effort.

I don't think Capcom will be loosing any sleep over my personal decision, given by the success of those titles.

There can always be the chance for dedicated titles, but given the onslaught of ports so far I am not holding my breath there.

While I do lament not being in a situation to play those titles, I would also admit that other companies give me cool experiences and Astral Chain at least will probably scratch the DmC itch, the same goes for the still upcoming Bayo 3.

Re: Review: PlataGO! Super Platform Game Maker - An Awkward Super Mario Maker Clone

Lemmy_the_Koopa

You haven’t been given the building blocks to create the next instalment of a decades-old gaming classic – you’ve been given the tools to create an obscure bootleg platformer on an AliExpress Famiclone, or the free game on the cover disk of the March 1992 edition of ‘Amiga Conquest’.

I think this is so important to the success of Super Mario Maker. You don't just create a platformer, you create levels for most / all the periods of the 2D Mario franchise... one of the most iconic franchises and all that not with ripper resources, but officially endorsed by Nintendo with every other fan being able to play your level...

Re: Review: Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda - A Beat-Based Wonder

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@nessisonett Hope you soon can hum to the tracks that are inlcuded in this title, when you got enough rupees to say HYAAT YAT HYAAA HYAT (Read: I can buy this title now!).

#####

I hope with the abundance of favorable reviews, Nintendo will feel boldened to see what it can do with other (dormant) IPs to add more unique gameplay experiences to the Switch library.

Re: Review: Cadence of Hyrule: Crypt of the NecroDancer Featuring The Legend of Zelda - A Beat-Based Wonder

Lemmy_the_Koopa

I binged this game, once I got my hands-on and I really love it and not one moment of my playthrough felt annyoing.

For me this is truly unique and I guess this just shows, why Nintendo was so happy to have their IP be touched by Brace Yourself Games (I gather Nintendo gave input, too), they saw the raw potential and Cadence of Hyrule - Crypt of the Necrodancer feat. the Legend of Zelda is a fresh spin than more a new coat.

For those wondering, you can save anywhere, so it is also absolutely save to play in short burts when you commute.

I can safely recommend this game, even if the asking price is a bit high for a (short, but replayable) indie game.

Re: Nintendo Download: 13th June (Europe)

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Will get Cadence of Hyrule, partially since I am REALLY intrigued and on the other hand I also want to show Nintendo that they should def. experiment with the IP and have it transformative.

For example, F-Zero for example can be something like Double Dragon Neo or Viewtoful Joe with the Smash history of Captain Falcon and that there is actually a story to it...

Re: Hands On: Luigi’s Mansion 3 Is Shaping Up To Be The Best In The Series

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@Pandaman I know it's too early to say for a hands on and I don't know if you got to try this feature out, but how easy was it to save? So far a lot of the titles that had been dedicatedly developed for Switch (esp. for Nintendo) had easy ways to quickly save inbetween. I want to make sure that even here the "play anywhere" mantra can be even applied with small and short commutes...

Re: Nintendo's E3 2019 Sale Is Live Until 18th June (Europe)

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Heads-Up, oddly enough Nintendo lists the Shantae Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition in their promotional blog on Switch and the eShop landing page for the sale lists the Shantae Half-Genie Hero Ultimate Edition but without the discount. I guess somebody goofed up by composing the blog post on the Switch.

Re: Feature: The Big Nintendo Summary From E3 2019 - Day One

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Personally, I was completely let down. Don't get me wrong, Nintendo still managed to throw a lot of left hooks and there are some games that went on my radar because of this direct. Though most of them I heard from before. I think the most genuine surprise for me came from the actual Trials of Mana remake.

While I loved the added information for Luigi's Mansion 3 and Astral Chain, both of them have been revealed so far. The same was for Dragon Quest XI.

What surprised me, was that Cadence of Hyrule was relegated to the normal thursday release, instead of a download now, but maybe they wanted to give Square-Enix some extra marketing space, as it seems that this dev is slowly getting onto the Switch train.

Though I have to admit the Breath of the Wild sequel announcement did nothing for me, as this was now the third game in the The Legend of Zelda IP that got featured on this direct only.

I still miss many dormant IPs like the often clamored F-Zero and it would have been nice if Nintendo had something in the oven for this or other seemingly forgotten franchises.

Also interesting was, that Bayonetta 3 was missing, but this was probably done by design, to give Astral Chain more time in the limelight.

Despite my lack of joy over this direct, I still believe it was a smart move to show the games selected for various reason. A curious tidbit that apart from Luigi's Mansion and Pokémon, everything had a release date that did not exceed the end of September, so they probably want to ship those games first, especially with Nintendo not reliant on the E³ or anything similar for more announcements.

So, while this E³ was not exactly for me and I had not been blown away, I hope all of you others are happy gamers and look forward to the multitude of titles.

Re: Video: Nintendo's E3 Direct Went From Pedestrian To Perfection

Lemmy_the_Koopa

I am torn about the Direct. On the one hand there where some pleasant surprises, like the remake for Trials of Mana. Some where not for me, but I at least could appreciate that those are meaningful and awaited games for other people, like No More Heroes III, or the reveal of Banjoo Kazooie for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. Though with the absence of beloved games for me, like F-Zero, but showcasing three different The Legend of Zelda titles, including one being revealed to be in development instead was a bit stingy; while I get that the The Legend of Zelda up his a hit thing, but there are so many beloved and dormant IPs, that I wished they showed something different in the end...

Re: Nintendo E3 2019: What Are You Hoping For?

Lemmy_the_Koopa

A new F-Zero entry, it could be even a small arcadelike download title that brings for example the Snes Version with updated graphics.

And CADENCE OF HYRULE available NOW!

Also, starting 4 PM, I will evict myself from the internet until 9 PM, because I won't be able to tune in the direct when it's due and I want to be completely floored...
