Re: Nintendo Download: 17th January (Europe)

Lemmy_the_Koopa

I get nothing this week, mot of the titles, except Onimusha: Warlods do not entice me and i got a (very small) backlog already I want to focus on.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes does nothing for me and I hold my money for other upcoming titles.

Re: Masahiro Sakurai Reveals He Plays Smash Bros. Ultimate For Fun Just Like The Rest Of Us

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@Kirby-in-Kirkby I have to admit, that is how I experienced it before from just looking at the game. Right unil I got the game gifted in december. 90 hrs later. I think some comments stated it before it's the mix between frantic fun AND finding more, once you had your first hands on experience. I currently main Bowser, since he caters more to my personal playstyle and still find a lot of stuff on my own, like movesets, weaknesses of my character, or just straight tiny stuff you first don't get, since you are overwhelmed by the sheer wackiness of the game.

other games take priority

While I know this is about playing games I still weep for Sakurai's soul. I think Nintendo already is discussing the next Smash and / or the next round of DLC characters after the first Season Pass has been completed.

May Nintendo have mercy on his soul.

I do hope though that given his success with Smash he will also have sway in saying what other projects he wants to make.

Re: Rumour: SNES Games Might Be Coming To Switch Sooner Than You Think

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@pullmyfinger
I'd still have rather a dedicated online service, like inviting my friends directly to games, intead of ... err... here play some stuff you played before.

Don't get me wrong, I currently enjoy playing Super Mario Bros. 3 with a friend and it is VERY welcome, but this should be the icing on the cake and not the main feature of Nintendo Switch ONLINE (It does not say Nintendo Switch SNES, nor does it say Nintendo Switch NES).

Re: These Officially-Licensed Micro SD Cards Are A Snazzy Solution To Your Switch Storage Woes

Lemmy_the_Koopa

While they look pretty, it's a hard pass for me. I already eyed them before, but a premium just for the Nintendo Switch Logo and a small Nintendo related artwork is just not worth the price increase.

This seems like a confuse your parents edition. Especially since you can't see the SD card...

For all the other people, wow you got some nice storage going. I only got a a 128gb card, but I try to go physical and for now with only one game downloaded digitally and the abundance of Mario+Rabbids Kingdom Battle downloads I still have over 100 gb to fill, before I start to worry, so I wait for technology to catch up...

Re: Nintendo's Bold Switch Sales Target Could Be Achievable After All

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Seems Nintendo's banking hard on Smash and to some extent on the Let's Go series for the Christmas season was the right decision to do.

I guess everyone who wanted to play Smash and did not have a Switch yet got the Switch during Black Friday or similiar adopted deals in other countries and Nintendo made bank. I am happy, because this seems to be the Wii all over.

In addition, I think Nintendo struck a good nerve with the "dedicated home console on the go" thing, it seems just to be what people are looking for currently, andI think they probably have enough coming up to keep that momentum up. Maybe - and I am getting my hopes here up -, just maybe even a dedicated F-Zero on the Switch...

Re: Talking Point: What's Next For Nintendo After Switch?

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Nintendo showed already with the 3DS, that they will only do small upgrades, but develop for the smallest in power with it's sku, see the new 3rd and count the games that are exclusive for that particular So I version to see where the switch is headed.

The switch has other qualities and now has a big install base. I think the more obvious move for Nintendo might be to make the 3DS walk the plank and offer / port over some titles to this system.

Re: Reminder: Brutal Roguelike Caveblazers Is Coming To Switch eShop On 10th January

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@Rastos I find it strange that you advocate for spreading out to other games if we don't like rougelikes, but you are not doing it yourself. Seek out comments that engage this title in a happy way and follow your own advice man. Chill, after all we (the odd 20 comments being negative about this games), won't make or break this game. If we had that power the titles would be different. Though please do not impede on our desire to voice our displeasure with a lot of (perceived, not hard data to back that up) rougelik/tes and metroidvanias. Though you are more than welcome to get hung up about strangers on the internet. Whatever floats your boat, but my personal belief is, that you are a better off enjoying the game yourself and let negative comments be negative comments.

Re: Rumour: The Next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate DLC Fighter Has Been Datamined

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@IceEarthGuard If I have my facts straight, Nintendo reserved the right to choose the DLC fighters instead of letting Sakurai decide, which seems to be a strong indication, that those will be used for promotional purpose.

The Dragon Quest character makes sense, espeically with the announcement of Dragon Quest XI S supporting the fact.

So I would personally look out what titles cross over to the Switch or will be announced and go from there.

Though with the fan outcry, there might be at least a case be made for Waluigi down the line as a filler DLC spot.

Re: Feature: Our 15 Most Anticipated Nintendo Switch Games of 2019

Lemmy_the_Koopa

Even if unannounced and Nintendo repeatedly saying they are done with the F-Zero franchise, I just hope they revisit that statement and come out guns blazing. This and a new 2D Super Mario... and yes I know the Wii U remaster is coming this month, but I was one of the handful* few that actually had a Wii U. I would also be interested in a Golden Sun, so Nintendo is giving the RPG community a treat, after the success of Octopath Traveler, this might send the right singals for the powers to be...

Re: PlatinumGames Executive Producer Says 2019 Will Be "An Intense Year", Announcements Coming

Lemmy_the_Koopa

So next year we will make various announcements!

This could be read so many ways. If they want intense they could make the announcement that Bayonetta 3 is either delayed or cancelled... that would be... intense.

Okay, joking here, hope there are some hidden games they announce along with Bayonetta 3, that is me speaking of other unannounced titles coming to the Nintendo Switch.

Re: Nintendo President Believes Switch Can Meet Sales Goal Before End Of Fiscal Year

Lemmy_the_Koopa

In regards to the Switch, Furukawa said again how Nintendo was aiming to shift 20 million Switch consoles by the end of the financial year in March 2019. He thinks the goal is within reach and noted how the success of the new Smash Bros. game and holiday period would help drive sales.

Even if Furukawa knows Nintendo won't meet the goal, it's all about selling the idea. If they admit to perceived doom & gloom, those statements can still have a negative impact on selling the switch (even if the sales are stellar). So until we see numbers we can't know if this is just a show of confidence, or their christmas / black friday strategy (especially with the slightly reduced Mario Kart bundle on Christmas shelves) played out. Though since I got my Switch during a Black Friday sale, together with some games and seeing people carry out the Switch (and other consoles) by the dozen in our more rural town I believe Nintendo can meet the goal...

Re: Interview: Daemon X Machina Producer Kenichiro Tsukuda On Cooking Up An Authentic Mech Game For Everyone

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@JaxonH It's not mutually exclusive, I concede that point, but there are just so many dev resources to go along and usually when I hear the word "strong multiplayer", I shudder at games that did this at the expense of the single player aspect. I am cautious with this one, as I've been burnt before. If the review say it has a wonderful SP campaign, I'll bite.

Re: Switch Has Outsold The Original And Slim PlayStation 4 In Japan

Lemmy_the_Koopa

@PuppyToucher @Ralphio It's noteworthy to mostly japanese developers and those focusing on the japanese market. Sure it won't dissuade those with a more global approach, but still 22 million is still a lot to go by.

In addition studios are also looking at the adoption rate, to see if a (long) dev cycle will play out and so far the Switch is sporting an incredible growth!
