I rather think that these financial reports are already prepared way in advance. In addition Nintendo is probably aware that once their report releases, the media will try to get any news from this. Nintendo probably rather want those news for a media efffective direct on their terms.
I really like how this feature is implemented on every game on the Nintendo Switch, as it embraces the on-the-go factor nicely. Even Octopath Traveler does have a savepoint within every screen, so you can advance the story quite nicely.
At the same times, all the ports are missing out on this. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Hollow Knight from time to time, but not being able to save is a detriment for me (granted, it's part of the design of the game).
For the game:
I really feel tempted, but still got to finish Mario+Rabbids: Battle Kingdom and there is the next Fire Emblem on the horizon, so it all boils down to time management, especially with me being engaged in hunting Power Moons in Oddysey and grinding in Octopath Traveler...
I am not surprised, the PS4 had now to killer releases that are not coming to the Nintendo Switch. With the rush to get Smash out before Christmas last year Nintendo got a nice HIGH, but from now on they really need to communicate to the fans about what to expect (in the near future) from Nintendo.
Though this might be also good, if the PS4 is now again in for the competition, Nintendo has to improve which results in good things for the consumer.
@DavidMac It's still on you and I disagree about the abundance of mails Nintendo is sending out. In addition they communicated how you will get Piranha Plant on their webpage. Since you were clearly anticipating this little fighter, all you had to do was read and follow the description.
Given that Nintendo has dibs on the characters and seemingly every character seems to tie in with an upcoming game on a Nintendo console, I don't have high hopes for that.
@purpleibby The average lifecycle is five years. The PS2 had ten and the Switch is goind fantastic on the sales department. They won't pull the lifesupport out of the Switch and at the very least this will be a swansong title like Breath of the Wild, but hey, why apply rationality when you can froth with hate.
@purpleibby As a Wii U owner I can def say that your comment is pure hyperbole there are enough new games on the Switch and on the horizon and Nintendo never came out and cancelled the Switch version for Prime 4. I wager that they are not far into the next generation in terms of development that development of Prime 4 will actually be capable to be for the next generation, so they are probably very much developing with the Switch in mind.
@purpleibby I think if MP4 lands on the succesor console it will be a port, because I don't think that Nintendo has a current console that far in dev that they can start developing games. At the least this will be a Breath of the Wild, where there is at least a Switch version, too.
@Hoho Sure, I think we are at the same page than. Though I take solace that we might get to see something that Retro Studios was working on previously; i simply refuse to believe that all they did was either doing nothing or helping on this or that.
@Hoho Don't you worry I hear and not dismiss your point completely. You are talking with someone that is still waiting for his own F-Zero game... so yeah it's high time for some IPs to hit.
I can at this point hope is that they wanteds to clear the air about the Metroid Prime 4 before a Nintendo Direct and not have the Direct to be associated with that delayed Metroid Prime 4, but rahter what games are coming. So they still got potential to redeem themselves.
@MEGAMAN_D My hot take is to have Retro reinvent other dormant IPs. Metroid Prime is a prime (pun intended) example of how they transformed the Metroid IP and at the same time gave Nintendo a dedicated FPS (with exploration).
@brunojenso Yup, it might mean that Retro was / is in the final stages in this project and the dev team that would handle early stages of development would probably start with MP4 right away.
@Hoho Though there are some things they can do to accelerate the problems, i.e. making some dev teams a bit bigger. Sure you can only do this at certain levels and until a certain stage of the game and you just can't press a magic button, but I think they are well aware that they won't be able to catch up without any sacrifices.
Also a quick research shows that Bandai Namco handled Prime 4 until now, so all Nintendo lost is money in that regard.
For example they can go shopping for some Nintendo Exlclusive Deals rom some devs.
On the one hand, yes I am disappointed, on the other hand I am rather with Nintendo. There are already too many games under the sun that needed to meet an abritrary deadline and handing this over to Retro Studios and start fresh, is better than delivering another OTHER M.
Also in unreleated news, this means whatever Retro Studios is working on / has been working on after the Tropical Freeze port is coming, so let's rejoice in that.

@GrailUK Scott Pilgrim vs. the World is delisted from the storefronts that had it, since Ubisoft never cared to renew the licensing agreement, so you can already cross off that your list. Yes you can download the game if you already purchased it on other stormfronts, no you can't buy the game new.
@aaronsullivan And yet other movies manage to do sequels without a premature universe announcement. What is wrong with a slow approach, it's not that the Pokémon brand will go away of a sudden...

Re: Darksiders: Warmastered Edition Launches Physically On Switch In April, Will Retail For $30
Already played it on PS3, but this is such a good game, that I might double dip in order to revisit it on the go.

That said, looking forward to Luigi's Mansion...
Re: So Long Wii Shop Channel, And Thanks For All The Games
The downside of the digital age, where you are dependent on the store front to be there the next year.
Sure, physical has the same problem, but at least there you could try to track it down on the used market.

don’t worry, you can save and quit at any time

@OhMy Hopefully they will soon issue a fix
Re: Piranha Plant Is Now Available In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
@Nomad Okay this is weird, the Piranaha Plant joining the fighter roster came, once after all the ingame update notifications.
Re: Piranha Plant Is Now Available In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
@OhMy Best of luck!

Re: Piranha Plant Is Now Available In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
@Nomad It did unlock for me on the spot, though I have every fighter unlocked and WoL beaten.

@DavidMac Or you can read your mails before massdeleting them.

Hopefully a direct will be announced today, too...
Especially with all the dataminers scooping around.

Re: Nintendo Switch Firmware 7.0.0 Already Hacked Just Four Hours After Going Live
Hardware revision will only do so much since there are a lot of Switches already out in the open and they want to sell their stock.
I think the best way going forward is offering a solid package so people are not inclined to bother with hacking their console.
While yes, they won't be able to meet everything you can do with a hacked Switch, but quality of life updates, or offering much more customisation.
Re: Random: Looks Like Amazon Didn't Get The Memo About Metroid Prime 4
Seems to me the normal woes of a big company, as people and templates change. This will be cleaned up closer to the hard release date.

Re: Japanese Charts: New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Knocked Off Top Spot In Its Second Week

Also I am sad, on the one hand yeah to New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe moving numbers, but for me as a Wii U owner that does nothing :s
