Blimey, it's September already? We're well into the second half of the year and things are starting to ramp up after the normally quiet summer period for the games industry. With Switch Lite and a Zelda game on the horizon, Nintendo has plenty of goodies coming up for us to spend our cash on in the next couple of months, and there's no shortage of games to be playing as you catch the last summer rays on the beach before autumn arrives and things start getting spooky.
August saw the release of the marvellous Astral Chain, which will no doubt keep us busy for a good few weeks yet ... but what's next for Switch? We've compiled a list of all the good stuff coming out at retail in September, October (and a bit beyond), and highlighted some of the big ones to look out for. So, give that bank balance a massage and prepare for new games and hardware...

Spyro Reignited Trilogy - 3rd September
Yes, one-time PlayStation mascot platform hero Spyro is coming to Switch all scaled up in high definition. The Spyro Reignited Trilogy game collection rekindles the original PlayStation trilogy including Spyro the Dragon, Spyro 2 Ripto's Rage! and Spyro Year of the Dragon, but now you can explore the expansive realms and relive the adventure in fully remastered glory. We've been waiting for this one on Switch for a while now, and we're gagging to see how it holds up on the platform that hosts the undisputed King of Platformers. We'll let you know if the plumber can put out the flames of this fiery contender as soon as we get our hands on it.
Daemon X Machina - 13th September
Defend Earth and defeat corrupted A.I.-controlled robots on an array of missions using your Arsenal, a customisable mechanised battle suit. Choose and equip your Arsenal with a multitude of weapons, obtain more from downed enemy Arsenals, and swap them on the fly to suit your strategy in the face of ever-changing threats that may bring the end of the world.
As you can see, lucky Gunners fans are in for an absolute treat; Spurs supporters might want to sit this one out.
The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening - 20th September
A new Zelda game! Well, sort of. In this remake of Link's classic Game Boy outing, he's once again washed ashore on a mysterious island with strange and colourful inhabitants. To escape, you must collect magical instruments across the land and awaken the Wind Fish. Koholint Island has been faithfully rebuilt in a brand-new art style that makes us grin from ear to ear every time we spy a screenshot.
Along the way you'll encounter Super Mario enemies like Goombas, Piranha Plants, and more, and interact with unique locals who help Link on his adventure. As you clear dungeons throughout the main story, earn dungeon rooms (Chambers), then arrange them into custom layouts in the all-new Chamber Dungeon. You can also tap compatible amiibo figures to earn more Chambers.
Of course, the most dedicated Zelda fans, will want to pre-order The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening's Limited Edition, so get in there as these will likely sell out fast.
Luigi's Mansion 3 - 31st October
Back for another round of ghostbustin', Luigi once again straps on his Poltergust to vacuum spooks, spectres and ghosts in Luigi's Mansion 3, which arrives on the spookiest day of the year. The title is actually something of a misnomer - this time round the 'mansion' is actually a huge hotel, although it's not like one we've ever stayed in. Each floor has an entirely different theme and it's up to Luigi to negotiate the lot as he rescues his friends from King Boo once again.
This time around a second player can join in the fun in co-op mode, and there's online play for up to eight players, so there's no excuses for spending the scariest night of the year alone.
Nintendo Switch Lite - 20th September
Just in time for Zelda: Link's Awakening, we have some delicious new hardware. The Nintendo Switch Lite comes in three tempting colours, as well as a Pokémon themed edition which arrives at a later date. While it lacks the ability to transmit gameplay to a TV, it has a hardier, more portable form factor than the classic Nintendo Switch, and priced at $199 these are sure to be a big seller as dedicated 3DS owners eventually decide to upgrade to Nintendo's new shiny handheld-only system.
More Awesome Nintendo Switch Games
Aside from the highlighted games above, there are lots more Switch retail games which might take your fancy in September and beyond.
Awesome Accessories For Your Switch
We saw a whole slew of interesting accessories released for the Switch in the past few months, but more are on the way, especially with the arrival of Switch Lite. Here are some tantalising accessories coming up in September and beyond, which we found for your consideration.
So that's it for September and October - did we miss anything? Let us know with a comment and also tell us if you've pre-ordered any of these goodies!

RIP every Switch owner's wallet in September.
great games coming out. there goes my wallet.
Nintendo's Wallet Weight Loss program, ladies & gents.
At one point this console only had like five games.
Man is September going to be a triple A games packed month! As an RPG & RPG/Action game lover i'm already broke this month and it's only the first.
You left off the Ghostbusters remaster coming Oct 4th.
Supermarkets better stock up on ramen noodles, cuz that’s all we’re gonna be able to afford to eat for the next month
Aaagh...!! 😵😵😵
RIP my wallet on November 2019 due to these Switch games.
1. Stranded Sails: Explorers of the Cursed Island
2. Luigi Mansion 3
3. New Super Lucky's Tale
4. Disney Tsum Tsum
5. Pokemon Sword
6. Mario & Sonic at Olympic 2020
I think i will prioritize Stranded Sails, New Super Lucky's Tale and Pokemon Sword for November 2019, while other Switch games will be on December 2019 / January 2020. 😅
So many games so little time. That Daemon X Machina controller looks great and I really need something ergo for handheld but no rumble has me on the fence.
The Untitled Goose Game looks more awesome than all of the above combined.
Dragon Quest XI + Luigi's Mansion 3 for me
@Lucarianzx At one point, most consoles do.
September is packed!
Zelda, Ghostbusters Remaster and Luigis Mansion for me!
Too many great titles that I couldn't stand to pass on. I tried explaining this to my wife, but I don't think she really understands.
Might give Lego Jurassic World a go, as I never played it. That is if it's had a bit of a facelift, unlike Lego City.
Surprised to see Dragon Quest is listed way down the list and not in big, after Zelda. Maybe the reviews are not looking as good as they could.
Can't wait to play Garfield Kart on my Nintendo Switch!
This is the first I've heard of Burger time Party.... Day 1 for me
I'd never heard of the chamber dungeons! What a cool idea!
Zelda and Castle Crashers are the only September games I will be getting on switch.
Do you remember, the 21 games of September?
Now your wallet has gone awaaaay.
September for me: Daemon x Machina and Castle Crashers.
Unfortunately, a few games are a bit overpriced — with Link's Awakening being one of them. $35 to $50 would have been much more appropriate.
Ni no Kuni, Dragon Quest and Zelda definitely (probably in this order)
then Layton, Baldur's Gate, Witcher and Trine Collection...
that should keep me occupied until next year at least, but then there's Shovel Knight, Doom and probably something exciting for Christmas Nevermind the wallet, RIP my sleep!
NBA2K20 should never be considered "cool" or "awesome" game. That pile of garbage should never be advertised anywhere.
... Anyways. September is gonna be packed!
No mention of one of the greatest RPGs or all time being released on Switch in about a month? Yes, I'm talking about 'Planescape: Torment', you philistines. Ahh, the shame! The shame! (shakes fist at sky)
Thanks for the list with links. Extremely helpful 🙌
Now the colors aren't a perfect match but I really want the orange and purple joy-cons since I go to Clemson.
September-
Spyro
Link's Awakening
Darksiders 2
Dragon Quest XI S
Ori and the blind forest
Castle Crashers
October-
Neon Orange & Purple Joy Con
Ghostbusters the game
The Witcher 3
Aladdin & Lion King
Resident Evil triple pack
Super Monkey Ball
Luigi's Mansion 3
November-
New Super Lucky's Tail
Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games
Pokemon Sword
Doom Eternal
I'm sure I'm missing a few others lol. But Wow Nintendo slow down. Idk if I can keep up with all of these new releases haha.
For me, it’ll be Link’s Awakening, Ni No Kuni and Dragon Quest XI S in September, Luigi’s Mansion 3 and maybe Doraemon’s Story of Seasons (how is Zumba: Burn It Up on the list, and this isn’t?) in October, and Pokemon in November (not sure of which version, my partner and I are getting both and have not yet decided which one goes to whom). My poor wallet...
@HIGHscores85
Yeah, I'm interested in Burgertime, too.
I just noticed the price. Are you $30 interested? I wasn't expecting more than $20-some.
Too many great games. My purse is screaming Nintendo. Give my poor purse a break!
I am really excited for Daemon X Machina, Link's Awakening, DQXI S, Luigi's Mansion3, ah heck. Too many to name!
Zelda, Dragons Question, Ghostbusters, and Witcher 3 for sure. There is also a lot of maybies. Wow!
Miso soup and ramen for the next two months for me, it looks like.
My wallet just ran away from home.
The release date for Forager is wrong. It won't release until the 22nd.
So many great games! For me, Spyro, DQXI, Nino Kuni, The Witcher 3, Luigi´s Mansion 3, Doom Eternal, maybe Pokemon, and some digital only like Blasphemous, Ori and Hollow Knight 2. My wallet!
Yes! September! Good riddance Summer heat! Now I can finally join the rest of the population outdoors. lol
@diablo2 Exactly! Like Samus Returns, Link’s Awakening should be $40.
I will wait for a price drop or Black Friday sale.
I've just bought Astral Chain and came close to pre-ordering Spyro there but I'm going to try and resist and get it at a later date. Links Awakening and Dragons Quest are certain purchases for September as are The Witcher 3 and Luigi's Mansion 3 for October. Then in November it's Doom Eternal. There are plenty other releases in this period that tempt me but I need to prioritise. Those games I've listed will take up so much of my time that buying any more would just be daft.
@ParasolStars and october and november. Switch is having a GOOD couple of months. My wallet not so much.
Well... Was gonna pay for a new roof before the winter. I think it can hold for another year.
WOW. Very strong next phase. But...where the heck is FF8? That, Link's Awakening, and Luigi's Mansion are the ones I'm getting.
I have pre-ordered £220 worth of games just for September and Torchlight 2 comes out this month as well.
I am gonna be a hermit and not interact with anyone through the month of September.
So many games but with Amazon's prices, so many cheaper Site's to buy them from.
Jesus wept sept and oct just might be the best two months of game releases since the Switch’s launch.
Why a football joke? And a terrible one at that? Anyway, isn't Nintendo Switch Online like 20 quid? That's what I paid. Yet, Tetris has it for 30 dollars... Tetris is free on eShop. Makes no sense.
@CurryPowderKeg79 Plus there’s the Alliance Alive HD remaster coming out in October that they left out.
I think my wish list just got a little bigger.
The craziest month in the history of the Switch. My 2 most anticipated games coming out on the same day! 20 Sept! And I’m on hols d’oh!
Lots of games coming out before the year ends. For me, the big ones are dragon quest, spyro, the witcher 3, link's awakening, Luigi's mansion and digimon story cyber sleuth. Lots of good stuff.
There are so many games coming out that I want that I really cannot keep up with them all. Especially since most games I enjoy tend to be in the 40-80 hour range, if not longer.
There's nothing there that's a day 1 purchase except, perhaps, for Pokemon. I can't believe Nintendo are "selling" Tetris 99 for $10 more than an online subscription when buying an online subscription includes Tetris 99 free. There must be something I'm missing. You know what? I'm still sitting out this paid online crap until a service is offered that caters to occasional users. It's a disgrace that even to upload and download levels in Mario Maker 2, or even upload race records from other games, requires a subscription. It should only be for actual online gaming.
I’m actually excited for Blasphemous, coming up in about a week. Looks really promising. That one and Link’s Awakening will be my Sept. games.
My poor wallet lol
Nintendo's secret base of operations
Owners: what are the strategies for this month and beyond?
Head of operations: lets just bleed the wallets of switch owners dry, that will show them not to mess with the big N. giggles!!
Owners: How can we achieve that?
Head of operations: Just bombard the switch console with lots of great games, so as not to give anyone options but to keep on buying till their wallets bleeds empty!
Owners & head of operations keeps laughing in a evil tone till the lights fades away!!🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've got Link's Awakening and Luigi's Mansion pre-ordered, but I am tempted to kick Link's Awakening in favour of Dragon Quest (after playing the demo). It just seems like a lot more game for the money.
...and Grid Autosport (Codemasters/Feral Interactive) will come to Switch in September!
@invictus4000 FFVIII won’t get a physical release, so it’s not on this list.
The Witcher 3 is $59 on Switch?
This is ridiculous.
I've bought it for PS4 last week at 8€.
You missed most of September's amiibo
Missing Friday 13th which is 27th September I think.
spread out all the games being released on switch throughout the year? nah
have every game release in one month? HELL YEAH!
I didnt want to eat this month anyways.
Link's Awakening and Dragon Quest. I was also able to secure an amiibo for the former. Baldur's Gate and possibly Icewind Dale are on my radar for later on.
