@FX102A I had a conversation with someone the other day and we both agreed that the Switch is everything the public presumably thought the Wii U is going to be. Even with Wii U's TV less function, it was still better you are hooked to the main console and close to it (pref. the same room).
What I really hated sometimes was that some title let you play off TV, but some titles did not allow that.
@BlueOcean This has nothing to do with greed. Even if I'd rather would have a MK9 entry Hints do actually shows business acumen. The install base was tiny, so yeah, re-releasing the game on Switch Is a no brained. Even with me disliking the step, if I would have faced that decision, it would be a no-brainer to re-release it.
@USWITCH64 No problem, To each their own. For some even to play Mario Kart on the go is a factor to double dip, for me I rather enjoy Octopath Traveler or another release.
@iMarkU Don't ya worry . I know it just makes sense for Nintendo. You have this large untapped market and can use those ports to bolster your library while the new games arrive with zero effort. I certainly hope the side effect of not using the dev time for a Mario Kart will hopefully result in a F-Zero Switch title, but I also look forward to other experiences like Astral Chain, a late Metroid Prime 4 and more unannounced titles.
@iMarkU WiiU owners like me want new experiences, yes. Though I acknowledge not everyone had a WiiU. Though those releases do nothing for me and I am not paying for a game I already played to death and still have access to.
Also you gotta factor in, that those that had a WiiU might hang around Nintendolife or other Nintendo centric side, so you probably have a vocal minority that just wants to have other expriences, after they had their fill on Wii U.
With that said, while others might be happy I am a bit on the meh side, though let's face it, for Nintendo this is an easy calculation.
I am happy to give Capcom my money for new experiences I want to see, like I did with Rockman 11. I even went ahead and hunted down a physical version.
I am not interested in shilling out money for a game I am not interested in, nor am I interested in old ports after old ports, especially if they gate new titles.
However for everyone that is genuinely happy to see this title on Switch, I am happy for you as well.
1] Street Figher and Mega Man performed well and the port of Onimusha was off to a strong start, what else does Capcom want?
2] Given a lot of reports from Indies, the Switch sales were always outperforming other sales, I have no hard data to back that up, but I would wager it is the same for Capcom, so what proof does it want additionally
3] It seems that other companies are already riding the Switch and return, even Square Enix deemed a port to Switch of Dragon Quest IX feasible and they did not feel that confident to bring over the 3DS version.
4] I can understand and follow that the development was done with PS4, XboxOne and PC in mind, those games don't get made overnight. However there was some expectations of sales data, and I'd wager Capcom already has an inkling.
5] I will however admit, that Capcom's RE7 stream experiment failed, as far as my knowledge goes, though this was within a limited market and with technology in it's infancy.
Also, I don't feel entitled to their port, again, if they don't bring DMCV to the Switch, I happily buy alternatives, but I also don't buy a game from a genre I am not interested in or a game per se I am not interested in, just to get to the one game I like. They will get my support for stuff I care. I have limited amount of money and time and if they want my cash, they better bring the goods. The company is also not entitled to my money, or entitled to me buying a game to get another game.
I don't think people that would love to see a JRPG would not feel okay if they have to buy a shooter.
I have bought my fair share of games from other companies another than Nintendo, I even did the tally, currently its 50% first party to 50% 3rd party, so I think I am doing my part in sending the message, but I do not want to nor buy a game and if that is putting Capcom off, well, than they don't get my money alltogether.
If you have unlimited cash and time to spend to buy games you are not interested in, just to get to the gems, knock yourself out, but don't assume everybody is in this luxurious situation.
Given the comments a lot of people seem to be interested in DD, so this is a good sign, but this business practice of saying you gotta buy grapefruit in order to be allowed to buy apples, that is harsh.
@nhSnork This is completely BS. Otherwise DMC5 would not have happened at all, if it would require those strong sales of other titles or would be considered for all other platforms.
This is just dangling a carrot to drive sales of an old game and nothing more and it seems Itsuno has a skin in his game, because he was - you guesst it right - director of Dragon's Dogma and Devil May Cry.
If Capcom thinks DMC5 is worth porting, and will recoup the porting (not production) cost, they should take the risk, given the current glowing reviews for the game so far, I think this is an easy bet.
But playing this stupid game of buy game Y to get game X is just marketing or making premature excuses and holding a "probably" at ransom.
All the things rather point to Capcom being lazy and just want a quick cash in, though they gotta realize that those who don't have multiple consoles or PC to run their games (I am happily admit that I am one of them), I will look to other franchsies for my fix and currently that will happen again with ASTRAL CHAIN and BAYONETTA 3 (though I don't have an inkling about them being on par, but given Platinum Games track record, I feel confident).
@Toadie Yeah I feel the same way. It seems Capcom is like Blizzard and Diablo Eternal, but instead of Don't you guys have any phones ask if we don't like those classic games...
@Agramonte This, all the other platforms did not need to proof anything, other than being available. So yeah, either bringt it to Switch or don't, but they gotta stop with the silly "Well, we did not sell Y, so you won't get X."
Seems to me like this is rather a quick mobile cash in, with most of the assests taken from the main game and with a real part developed alongside it and nowhere near finish...
@WiltonRoots Not a point I am disputing . But I would wager (without any evidence right now to back that up), that there was always a disproportionate amount of shooters since the rise of Call of Duty on PS4, Xbox and partially PC (at least from AAA studious), so this is nothing new.
@WiltonRoots
That is a very selective list you are posting here. Titles you are omitting, and since you put in systems exclusives like Gears of War 5, or Halo Infinite, I will include system eclusives also in my list. Also despite you doing not the same, I made an effort to list only games of 2019 and maybe beyond.
Released

Granted, the Switch made some juicy announcements with it's latest direct, but also some announcemnets will be happening for the other consoles.
This should not be about "Switch ain't got no games", but at least try and don't omit titles that don't fit in your narration. In addition I would love to have a Dark Soulsesque game or the occ. shooter on the switch, additional to the line up of the Switch.
I'm not surprised by this at all. I only see this move happening, if XboX / Microsoft would go SEGA and pull out from console manufacturing.
Sure Microsoft is a bit more multiplatform, with stuff coming to Windows and I guess the foray into TV and streaming is enticing to bind customers to the XboX / Microsoft brand.
I don't see the benefit for either company there. Especially for XBox. Who would buy an XBoxOne if the same games and experience can be had on the Nintendo Switch?
Nintendo could leverage the situation, but it might lose longterm, because I think devs would than jump onto the GamePass bandwagon to circumvent porting costs.
So this business model, while cool for the user, would be horrible for the respective companies.
@dcamp335 Nobody is telling you anything, it's your money after all. A lot of people, including me don't feel to pay these prices, especially with it being considerably cheaper on other systems and express themselves accordingly. No matter my opinion on the price, I wish you fun, come may.
And is £29.99 too much for Resident Evil 4? Only last week we spoke about Link’s Awakening and its supposed $60 price tag; Resident Evil 4 is one of the best games of all time and we’re hungry for it on Switch.
Sorry, you are comparing now apple to oranges. Resident Evil 4 is merely a port. Link's Awakening is a full remaster, freshly prepared for the Switch. I would not bat an eye to a 29,99 Euro price tag, if those RE titles would be remastered for the Switch.
Pokémon Snap... s with the fingers, so half of the Pokémon will get erased. Perfectly balanced like all things should be.
But for real.
1) I don't believe it will be a Metroid Prime 4; given they announced this, and metroid Prime 4 was an out of the blue thing as they probably didn't want to unnecessarily advertise their blunder
2) I strongly believe a Pokémon Switch game is coming. VERY SOON. Detective Pikachu is coming in May and Nintendo would be stupid to not have a new game or something waiting. But alas, we are speaking about Nintendo and Pokémon still is a hot brand, so they might be able to forgo this step
Given all that; Half Life 3 confirmed June, 21st 2019

Edit: And I have to eat my words, seems the sale started on Friday, with that I at least implore you to account for that.
@rex_rex While non of the titles I hoped for got an announcement (mainly F-Zero), I was positively surprised by the western announcement for DQ IX on Switch and Astral Chain. So I am more than happy with the Direct.

PS4, XboxOne and PC did not face those requirements, so the Switch should not either.
