Now @Damo these are the kind of articles I was looking for. So a thumbs up for this! Wonderful!
Well, now to the article. I dunno, if it was the Nintendo Direct I would have said Xbox Games on the Switch to give Microsoft a much desired foothold in the Japanese market. But maybe they will have a co-developed game using Xbox Azure Service that will bring in a new partnership.
I can't see Nintendo bringing their unique experiences to the Xbox..., but maybe the Online NES or datamined SNES subscription titles, so their legacy library, as trade of for Cuphead or other experiences.
@Kalmaro I think this snarky remark is not warrented, because I engaged Robzilla and I think this was just us voicing our view instead of genuine griefing .
@Robzilla Okay, there is a difference to giving grief and voicing displeasure. The latter can be done in polite way and me asking what the point of this and follow up with an explanation why I want to see other content seems polite to me. It's even implied in their community list to voice disagreement in a constructive way and I guess I fullfilled that criteria.
People hate the internet, not because of constructive feedback, but rather of some trollish behavior or people being nasty.
You might have generally spoken and I identify some comments here as being a tad on the abusive side of things and also would rather these people refrain from voicing their opinion in this way, but I don't want to auto mute that completely.
@Robzilla Sure, but we can also voice our displeasure and tell the Nintendo Life staff which content we are keen on seeing , so they know our preferences and dig for tidbits and news accordingly .
While I am always voicing and advocating F-Zero, especially with GX/AX being the pinnacle of the series, I would also be happy to get a new Golden Sun (unfortunately had to skip the DS one), Eternal Darkness (the GameCube game really messed with me). Baten Kaito was the one that got away, since I financed my gaming in my younger years with some summer jobs and I saw this only, when I was strapped for cash, so I would be rather happy to to see a new entry.
Though it's not a dormant Nintendo IP, I would just love for Nintendo to go to SEGA again (as they more or less did with Bayonetta) and pay the bill for a new entry in Skies of Arcadia...
While I did not play this game, I always like if a franchise is treated in a transformative way, this is why I can't hardly await Cadence of Hyrule for example and I will be closely watching this.
@Damo I get that, but with so much news probably going on during E³, it just adds to the noise. Since I am not paying your salary I am certainly not in the position to tell you what to write and on what articles you should spend your time. As a reader though, I would be rather happy to see more focused news. Especially, but not limited, if the company clearly stated that there are no Switch versions planned.
What is the sense of this? There are probably several other non-Switch games that have similar inspirations, how about doing a list. Can we focus, at least during the E³, where there is news aplenty on what IS actually coming to Nintendo's systems...
I am at a loss of words here, there are now several companies out there that show a healthy interest and capability to bring a non-watered (non-legacy) down experience to the Switch; the latest examples are Mortal Kombat 11 and the upcoming Doom Eternal.
@Agramonte I get you at your last comment, despite my wishlist my time is limited and I am soooooo thankful the Switch is portable, as I commute often, or can enjoy a lil' half an hour or so, while slowly waking up. Though that is why I really want to see more unique titles. But alas, let's see what the future brings. Quietly hoping Nintendo is still King of making your jaws drop on the E³! And maybe even the direct will highlight a gamez that flew hard under my radar, who knows!
Yeah, for me the only other big release not coming from Nintendo is Dragon Quest IX S, despite still needing to play my Ys VIII copy... maybe I get Bloodstained but apart from that, ASTRAL CHAIN (Nintendo), Luigi's Mansion 3 (Nintendo) are on my immediate list. I am a bit on the fence for Super Mario Maker 2 (Nintendo), Fire Emblem: Threee Houses (Nintendo) and at least with a tenative date DAEMON X MACHINA (Nintendo), as I enjoyed the the demo to at least see if they can get rid of some of the (personal perceived) flaws.
From an Indie standpoint right now only Cadence of Hyrule (Nintendo) got me pumped, after enjoying Katana Zero, which was a day one purchase for me, and even if it's old a buy into a game, FAST RMX that is scratching that F-Zero itch a bit.
I still am a bit baffled by Capcom the most, as they reportedly are now doubling down on the RE2 / DMCV engine, which (currently) automatically excludes the Switch and we just get port-o-rama from them, though I hope at least there will be a Rockman 12 coming for the Switch at least with the positive reception of Rockman 11.
Though I get it, Dev cycles are not something that are done quick, especially with Switch being only 3 months into year 3 and the not so flattering sales of the Wii U some companies might have been (too) cautious, but I really hope still for some out of the blue surprises during the E³, so I still look forward to June 11th (and I will deliberately hold from the internet until I can watch the direct late at night after work).
@Agramonte Yup, currently most of the items on my radar are only Nintendo titles. Not that I don't wonna spend cash on third party titles, I do and already did, but announcements like these are a bit underwehlming, if you only got a Switch. Though Kudos to everyone else who is excited.
A bit sad that all the Switch gets from Bandai Namco (talking about the three leaked announcements) is just a port, while other consoles get new experiences. It's not that this port is a bad game, but I am intrigued by the other leaked games with no capabilities to experience them as of now.
I just wish that other gaming companies would embrace the technical limitations of the Switch much more and plan their releases accordingly, so development is much more inclusive to the Switch.
@Ralizah @JnFnRu You forget that Nintendo wants more than one Switch in each household and this probably targets either families with multiple children and hardcore fans. Also if you have a significant other that is also high on the Pokémontrain, you can play / trade with them.
I am one of the few that is only partially interested in the Pokémon franchise, enjoyed it Gen 1, where I could play with my brother, since we both had a GameBoy, but nowadays there is not enough interest in the "more than one version of the game" I tried out X & Y, but after some hours it also did nothing for me.
With that said though I wish everyone excited by this franchise to find enjoyment and cheer on, since this will be again a system seller with a high attach rate, which also means that we will see other titles.
@AtlanteanMan @Abeedo I would add that the spirits you can acquire fighting them occur more often, when you don't have them I have every spirit at Lv. 99 and even recaptured the spirits I lost due to evolving and or fusing to another spirits and usually the game throws them towards me.
So with that, if those are the only spirits you are missing, put can easily get to them.
I don't know if I can manage everything, but here is my wishlist.
Get a little Endgame for Octopath Traveler going, play more FAST RMX, finish Katana Zero and maybe go for the secret boss and / or the secret items. Power Moon hunting in Super Mario Odyssey.
@Heavyarms55 This, and even if there was some kind of bragging rights involved, those are null and void, since the microSD card is hidden within your Switch.
The only way to elicit some "Ohh! Shiny!" comments would be to take them out, but than I guess someone is really seeking the attention, if this person is prone to do that...
I like to think that these items are just to confuse persons, that are not sure and will buy those up; there are also some micro SD cards from the same brand at my retailer, only with a slightly different packaging marked up 5,00 € and if you press the store clerks, they concede it's all a sham.
Well, I think that even Nintendo wanted this future to happen rather sooner than later. Just think about outings like the Super Gameboy for SNES, or to a lesser degree to use the Gameboy Advance as kind of Controller with the GameCube in some games (even unlocking some games, if you connected with Savestates of different games). This already played at their desire to connect their handheld with their home offerings.
I also thought that Nintendo wanted the Wii U already be something like the Switch, but probably during Devtime, the technology was just not ready and they needed something to replace the aging Wii...
You all know what this means? The E3 Direct does not need to dedicate 15 minutes to Mario Maker 2, meaning, we will see more footage from other games! I love that, because people that want to see Mario Maker 2 footage will get it more or less now and others will have the E3 direct focused on other titles
This won't just affect the animators, but marketing and the marketing campaign, too... and the distribution of the film.
And with that the hardship on the Animators will increase, because to have a final design, scenes and models for marketing, this means get this done in less than 3 months or so...
Okay, I am honest here, with Joker arriving in Smash I really hoped for Persona 5 hitting the Switch. I am not interested in a Mousou game in the slightest, so I am going to pass on that. Luckily there are other games I am also interested in and I can devote my time and money towards those titles.
To those that get a kick out of this game / genre, please enjoy.
@westman98 Had probably to do with everyone that wanted a Switch got it for Christmas in tandem with Let's Go, or probably SMASH. With Q1 rather dry on the side of Nintendo or third party killer releases on the Switch this was probably an accounted for dip.
This paired with additional (confirmed) titles coming from Nintendo will probably see a strong 2019 for the Switch. Coming from Nintendo only in 2019.
Luigi's Mansion 3
Super Mario Maker 2
Pokémon Sword & Shield
Astral Chain
Fire Emblem: Three Houses
Animal Crossing
TLoZ: Link's Awakening
... and some of the third parties that are coming are no slouch either, especially the westward bound Dragon Quest XI and hopefully today announced Persona 5 S will probably also nudge some people into getting a Switch, or keep owners happy.
@Banemus You all realize that you can FIND a job while doing another job, right? It ain't hard, open your browser and google for a different job. So when you found a different job, you can leave the previous job.
Err... there is more to it. First of all you omit this requires time and will probably lead to a job interview that will be within business hours where those workers are gasp working. Because landing a job interview is no guarantee for a job. Let's assume they work on the low end of overtime for 70 hrs a week. Let's assume a modest 8 hour sleeping cycle, despite them probably needing more than that. That will leave them with roughly 6 extra hours each day. Those 6 hours consist of probably of coffee / breakfast, getting dressed, washing and commuting and doing household chores, getting modest amount of groceries and those 6 hours are probably not able to be available conscutively, which just adds how limited they can be used. This is not counting in that some even have a family they probably want to take part in. This is also assuming humans behave like robots, which does not work.
Not being able to put food on the table is a lazy BS excuse. And if you REALLY hate the job, you can always find a job as a garbage collector so you can leave asap and then find another job while doing the garbage collecting. Period! Stop with the excuses!
No, financial security is not a bullshit excuse. I am sure some people quit and got a job in another field, but they also gotta make sure this job pays. Sure, it'll probably easy to get a job at McD, but will the job pay bills? What if they bought / built a house? Have other dependents?
Why should the company change for the workers? If you come and apply for a job and the company says: "you will have to do a lot of overtime and crunching" If after that, you accept the contract... That is NOT the business problem, that is your own fault for accepting the contract! They didn't put a gun to your head and make you sign it. If the company changed while you were there, you can ALWAYS find a different job! Stop making excuses.
Stop already with the bullshit of nobody is holding a gun to your head. This is what we are talking about financial security.
In addition, the companies will probably not tell you that this is a constant, they will probably advertise it as "some crunch will occur, but it's negligible" or other things. Having sat in countless job interviews, there will always be a rosy picture painted.
Also the companies have social responsibility towards their employees.
And if you all know it soooooo well on how to do it... make your own company and proof it!
While I have not a multi-billion company I am doing actually something and commission and contract work to others and treat those people with dignity. Though knowing that you should treat humans with dignity should not be something anybody needs to prove to understand it.
I will further refrain from engaging with you, as your arguments are baseless and devoid of anything human and I'd rather have not further contact with individuals like you. Though despite all of this I sincerely hope you have a wonderful and fullfilling life and nothing ill befalls you.
@Banemus Err... the problem is not that the want to leave, but they have bills to pay, mouths to feed. First off, they would have enough dough to gap the time they would need to find another job, since they are working crunch, they won't even have the energy left to have a social life outside the office. With your ramblings you are omitting the fact that some people are reliant on this income.
Though what bothers me the most, the company is displaying predatory behavior towards it's employees and you only condem those that are the victims and not the abuser.
@ancientlii This is called landing star power. Like if Nintendo is your publisher (Cadence of Hyrule). There is already gamepla footage from PAX East on Youtube and this feels en par with the quality of Shovel Knight.
@SmaggTheSmug Go over to the Destructoid article, it seems there had been a friendly relationship all along and YCG probably think MekaSkull is talented enough to be included in their little family
Whelp, I am glad, that once they killed the Wii U vesion, I backed out of this and got my money. Now I can await the reviews to see how the state is.
@S4ndm4n Well, regarding the Vita and Wii U version, they offered a refund, or switch to other systems. This was super smooth, so I don't hold it against them. The Wii U made sense at the time, but not so much when they announced the cancellation and I fully expected it.
While I respect their pitch in, I think if a Indie X Nintendo should be done, it should be more transformative like Cadence of Hyrule. I think what got the attention from people is that is was such a uniqe twist, but still seems to instantly make sense, once people saw it.
Watched the State of Play and this was just a trailer reel. No indepth gameplay, no further explanations, just trailer, two sentences, next trailer.
It was a bit more barebones and while yes the Nintendo Direct are also trailer reels, usually it's followed up by some additional footage with a bit more about the game, what to expect, what genre and what not. It's hard to put a thumb onto it, but since there was only voice over, it had the less charming feel that a Nintendo Direct had.
This is probably to how the direct started with Iwata bringing the news DIRECTLY to us. It felt more like a dialog, where Iwata remained calm from all the cheers at the other side of the screen...
I really hope Cadence of Hyrule not only will be a review darling, but also be a financial hit for Nintendo. I guess a lot of new projects will hinge on this.
Given the very positive reaction so far, I sure hope signals are being shown.
However I got to admit, the trailer hat me partially pumping due to the build up to the reveal with the great Tal Gal Heights Remix.
Fans of Crypt of the NecroDancer, we haven’t forgotten about you! The team at Brace Yourself Games has been hard at work, in secret, on an exciting new game!
I think getting access to Nintendo characters is something they are getting asked often, but it seems one requirement is to have them as playable character and not play 2nd fiddle. Also it seems that Nintendo still has a keen eye on what flies and will naturally fit.
In addition I think BYG must have had a killer presentation of some sorts, for Nintendo to see how it works, before giving the thumbs up. Seems they probably did their homework just right to get the DLC and ended up with so much more.
Since the protagonist of CotND never got name dropped in the trailer I had to google her and holy eff, her name is Cadence. Nintendo sneakishly allowed her name to be in the title... (I know this is another synonym for rythm, but HOLY BANANAS they went especially with that!).
@NintendoFan4Lyf Probably the conversation they had:
Nintendo: Hello, we saw Crypt of the Necrodancer, how about you take our Zelda Franchise for a spin with this?
Brace Yourself Games:
Nintendo: Good, keep us updated on your progress
Brace Yourself Games:
/ Nintendo goes off the screen /
Brace Yourself Games: WHAT IS HAPPENING!?

Re: Japanese Charts: Switch Console Sales Reach 8 Million, Will Soon Overtake PS4 Lifetime Sales
... and yet the support from some game companies is lacking; and I am talking about japanese game companies
Re: Fortnite Developers Discuss The Constant Crunch Required To Maintain The Game
Re: Cyber Shadow's Publishing Deal With Yacht Club Games Didn't Happen Overnight
Re: Bloodstained: Ritual Of The Night's Disappointing PAX Build Will Be Improved For Launch
Re: An Indie Dev Has Already Asked To Work With Nintendo's IP After Seeing Cadence Of Hyrule
While I respect their pitch in, I think if a Indie X Nintendo should be done, it should be more transformative like Cadence of Hyrule. I think what got the attention from people is that is was such a uniqe twist, but still seems to instantly make sense, once people saw it.
Re: Fans Are Remaking Zelda: Link's Awakening In The Style Of A Link To The Past
Re: Yacht Club Games Reveals Cyber Shadow, A Thrilling New 8-Bit Ninja Platformer
@Dahn_ It is just that it has more sprites and colors than the era could handle, so it looks a bit more lush. Same was with Shovel Knight.
___
Given that YCG already proofed itself with Shovel knight this game will get more than a quick look .
Re: Random: Sony's PS4 State Of Play Presentation Made 'Nintendo Direct' Trend On Twitter
Re: Nintendo's Nindie Manager Hopes Cadence Of Hyrule Will Start An Indie Collab Trend
I also hope Nintendo is releasing the soundtrack.
Re: Cadence Of Hyrule Features The Work Of Two Sonic Mania Artists
@roboshort @BenAV Even the official hompage says
Fans of Crypt of the NecroDancer, we haven’t forgotten about you! The team at Brace Yourself Games has been hard at work, in secret, on an exciting new game!

Hopefully @ryancraddock will soon correct the article.
Edit: And seemingly corrected.

@PCkid Well, McD was fitting to be served to guests for a president, so there's that
Re: How The Crypt Of The NecroDancer Developer Got To Work With Zelda
Re: Cadence of Hyrule Is What You Get When You Cross Crypt of the NecroDancer With Zelda
The ramifications of this are probably OFF THE CHARTS
My head is buzzing with IPs that can be translated, by indies. This is ... new... and ... woaaah...
Re: Cadence of Hyrule Is What You Get When You Cross Crypt of the NecroDancer With Zelda
Re: Cadence of Hyrule Is What You Get When You Cross Crypt of the Necrodancer With Zelda
THIS. CAME. OUT. OF. NOWHERE. HOLY. BANANAS.
