Re: Square Enix Will Announce Several New Titles Between July And August

LArachelDisciple

It's interesting how many people want ports. I guess proven games are more comforting than gambling on a new release turning out well. I'll just throw out some new game ideas.

Final Fantasy 16, releasing on all consoles because it's a scaled-back project with a focused, linear plot and no empty open-world wandering. That way Nintendo consoles can handle it. (I preferred the streamlined Pocket version of Final Fantasy 15, tbh)

A Super Mario RPG-like project, but with a different Nintendo IP. Super Wario RPG maybe, or a Square Enix-helmed Earthbound.

Octopath Traveler 2. More of that, please.

Re: Pokémon Unite, An Online Team Battle Game, Revealed For Switch And Mobile

LArachelDisciple

How did Clefable get into the starting lineup for this game? Like, really? Clefable? Sure, you could eventually add it, but is Clefable really a heavy hitter mascot/fan favorite that you want to lead with? Am I missing something? Is Clefable big in China?

Also too much Kanto. I'm a broken record about this, but I'd love it if they started representing Pokemon's full history with more evenly-divided rosters.

Re: Min Min Revealed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's Next Fighter

LArachelDisciple

I wanted Lola Pop so bad that I tricked myself into believing it could have been anyone but Min Min. In my defense, Sakurai announced it as a mystery, as if a character no one would expect would have a shot. Then the trailer starts and immediately confirms that it was the one everyone thought it was.

I'm still waiting for every fighter to be revealed before committing to a purchase. Min Min might be one of the DLC characters I pick up if I ever get this game, but she's no where near hype enough to get me to purchase early.

Maybe they'll continue grabbing more interesting supporting characters over protagonists. Nia and Dromarch would be amazing!

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's ARMS Fighter Will Be Revealed In Livestream Next Week

LArachelDisciple

Hoping for Dr. Coyle or Lola Pop. I can't wait to have confirmation on which character it is. It's so annoying he didn't just say to begin with.

That said, I'm skipping the presentation. I think Sakurai overexplains things in those.

Still going to say it's a fake out and it'll be Paper Mario (whose arms extend now in Origami King) or Lanky Kong. Off chance, I know, but it'll be funny if I called it.

Lola Pop with Lanky Kong echo would be pretty rad, actually.

Re: Kingdom Hearts: Melody Of Memory Announced For Switch, Launches This Year

LArachelDisciple

So, I'm guessing we're playing the memory of Sora in Kairi's heart or something? And she remembers all this stuff she wasn't there for because Sora/Blond Sora/Other Blond Sora was there?

I didn't feel like Kingdom Hearts 3 stuck the landing as a satisfying ending to the Xehanort Saga, so I've got no investment to continue with this. Don't care about Yozora, don't care about Master of Masters, and Kairi should have been an active player far sooner than this.

I'll pass unless something wild is confirmed like Kuzco showing up.

Re: Fire Emblem's Byleth Confirmed As Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's 5th DLC Fighter

LArachelDisciple

It's a shame Sakurai's creative choices have made a great series like Fire Emblem so despised among Smash Bros players. If only Melee had introduced, say, Tiki or Celica instead of Roy for a more unique moveset, if 4 had shown some restraint and only introduced Robin, and if Ultimate had shown some restraint and not introduced Chrom. We'd have a more manageable number of Fire Emblem characters who are more unarguably unique. But this Direct shows that Sakurai can definitely let his enthusiasm for the series get out of control. The history lesson was just time filler and gushing.

That said, Three Houses is absolutely one of my favorite Switch games and I'm happy to see it. I'd be happier to see Sothis, Edelgard, or Dimitri instead. Imagine floating around on Sothis's throne and ramming it into your opponent! Imagine Dimitri lance-fighting and having Ephraim and/or Sharena as alts. That'd be unique for Smash and fanservice for Fire Emblem!

My condolences for those disappointed, since I get it.

Re: Moe Monster Girl RPG Moero Chronicle Hyper Dungeon-Crawls Onto Switch This April

LArachelDisciple

The monster aspect of the designs could be a little more pronounced and inventive, I think. There's probably some cute personalities in the 50 girl count, at least.

This is something I'd rather get on Steam. The awful Switch menu screen that pointlessly displays all the games I own will let everyone know I bought a copy. My Steam library is better for covert, single-player gaming.

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate's World Of Light Mode Focuses On The "Loot Grind", Rather Than Epic Cutscenes

LArachelDisciple

Maybe if we still had trophies I'd be more excited to grind for them, but stickers? I don't know if it's worth it. I might only get this game if the dlc reveals something that catches my eye.

So far the only things of interest to me are every veteran returning, Inkling, K. Rool, and Shantae at least getting in as a sticker. Looks like Brawl will remain my favorite.

Re: Unidentified Item Spotted In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Clip

LArachelDisciple

The other two Golden Sun games must of hit it out of the park, because I played the first one and wasn't entertained beyond "Oh, that spritework is kinda neat." Isaac in Smash Bros will give me the same sort of meh feeling. But hey, don't let me rain on your parade too much, Golden Sun fans. Most of the messageboard darlings of Smash speculation do very little for me.

Re: The Pokémon Let's Go Series Could Progress To Johto If Players Enjoy Lets Go Pikachu And Eevee

LArachelDisciple

My only interest in these is seeing Gym Leaders in 3D and, if I'm really stretching, the possibility that they might eventually push Sakurai to include playable Johto/Hoenn Pokemon in Smash. Pichu is a decent start, at least.

The home console release isn't hyping me either. I got that wish with the excellent Gamecube games. I get the feeling that the legacy of Let's Go will mostly end up being the ramping up of Eevee promotion.

Re: Rumour: Promo Booklet Suggests Team Sonic Racing Might Be Delayed Until 2019

LArachelDisciple

@Mando44646 I'd argue that the Mario IP would have more to offer if they dug into Paper Mario, Mario & Luigi, or even just missing characters like Petey Piranha and E. Gadd. Not so much a problem with the IP as it is a problem with Nintendo's refusal to do anything with it.

That said, Super Smash Kart would be awesome. It would force the game to diversify and I've to see what they'd come up with for Fire Emblem or Kid Icarus..

Re: Random: Is The Bowsette Movement Finally Over? Guitarist Rosalina Is Your Next Obsession

LArachelDisciple

And here I am still waiting for actual unique characters like Prince Peasley, Lady Bow and Goombella to get more popularity and demand for reappearances. All people want to draw and root for are slight variations of established characters like different outfit Rosalina and genderbent human Bowser. Why were Pink Gold Peach and Baby Rosalina so reviled while this gets big?

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Will Have IVs And EVs, Ditches Held Items And Abilities

LArachelDisciple

@DanteSolablood You raise good points. I guess it's just my lack of competitive drive that keeps me from having fun training up Pokemon. It's cool that that stuff is there for the people who do enjoy it, and you're right that they are easily ignorable when not fighting other players. I don't know how to fix the problem of equal speeds.

What really gets me is that the flavor of it doesn't quite line up with the idea of being friends with Pokemon. I can't think of Pokemon as creatures when I'm trying to optimize math equations. It leads to situations where I feel bad about rejecting the children of my Pokemon from daycare centers because their natures or IVs aren't good enough to compete. I still think that the Daycare Centers in particular need some reflavoring so I don't feel like I'm heartlessly breeding livestock of semi-sentient beings.

It's so weird that these Let's Go games, which are trying to be simplified versions of the games that sell themselves with cute pet features (Riding Pokemon and dressing them up), still have IVs and EVs. It's like adding that to Nintendogs. Shouldn't they focus on the Nature and Abilities to make Pokemon feel more like real pets?

Still, thanks for responding. I like hearing other perspectives, especially ones delivered so politely.

Re: Pokémon Let's Go Pikachu And Eevee Will Have IVs And EVs, Ditches Held Items And Abilities

LArachelDisciple

That's the opposite of what I want. I never understood the point of IVs and EVs. Just give give every Pokemon the stats they'll need to be of use to the player. Why have dud Pokemon?

Conversely, I'd love for Pokemon to be able to have all of their abilities at once. Like Chesnaught would start with Overgrow and could unlock Bulletproof through training or friendship or something. That would be cool.

Re: Opinion: What Did You Think Of Today's Nintendo Direct?

LArachelDisciple

I could tell that the Isabelle reveal was indeed for Smash Bros from the beginning, so I wasn't trolled by it. Then I kinda figured the only reason her announcement would happen here is if a new game was being announced. I completely missed out on the emotional roller coaster everyone else had!

I'm intrigued by the Arcade Beat-em-Up collection and tabletop ports, but nothing else. I'm pretty much set for the rest of the year with what was announced before this direct.
