Re: Nintendo Direct Officially Rescheduled For Tomorrow, Thursday 13th September

LArachelDisciple

I'm predicting...
-Drill Dozer 2 with Jill Amiibo
-Paper Luigi: The Marvelous Compass
-Gardevoir and Gothitelle Confirmed for Smash
-K. Rool, Daisy, and Pichu amiibo unveiled
-Eternal Darkness for Switch and 3DS
-Mother 3-D for 3DS with Kumatora and Duster amiibo
-Animal Crossing with a wacky Amiibo minigame
-A sequel to Tokyo Mirage Sessions featuring characters from Echoes and Sacred Stones
-Sonic Adventure 4

All of this will totally happen, for realz.

Re: Rumour: Cloud Saves Will Be Supported On All Existing Switch Games By Default

LArachelDisciple

I'd better go play Splatoon 2 one more time before I save some money by passing up this service altogether. I'm glad the people who want cloud saves are getting them, but it isn't worth the investment to me.

The specific example of random weapon drops is funny to me. We wouldn't want people to try and bypass that pain-in-the-neck feature, would we? The RNG is the only thing I don't like in Xenoblade Chronicles 2.

Re: Square Enix Announces Final Fantasy XV Pocket Edition HD For Nintendo Switch

LArachelDisciple

I like the art style, actually. It's a shame that the faces don't move, but other than that it is aesthetically pleasing and I have less trouble telling the character apart (Something about them being rendered realisticly and all wearing black makes them blend together to me, a far cry from the always at least memorable character designs from the othe FFs). I might be interested in picking this up, who knows?

Re: Nintendo Direct Airing Tomorrow To Showcase Upcoming Switch And 3DS Titles

LArachelDisciple

My completely reasonable predictions include...
-Pichu and K. Rool amiibo unveiling. (Might actually happen)
-Gardevoir and Gothitelle revealed for Smash (Best rumor)
-Pikmin 4 is even more almost ready, new hero get pre-release amiibo unveiling
-Drill Dozer 2 with Jill amiibo
-Paper Luigi: The Marvelous Compass with Partner Amiibo
-A Classic mini with games from all 3 Game Boys
-Star Fox Racing with Slippy, Peppy, and Krystal amiibo
-Pokemon Let's Go comes with new Pikachu and Eevee amiibo
-Super Mario Party can add any character with an amiibo to the game as a new playable character.

This will all totally happen, I'm sure.

Re: Random: Purple And Yellow Chairs In Smash Bros. Direct Fuel Speculation Waluigi Will Be Playable Fighter

LArachelDisciple

It seems riding Mario coattails has gotten Waluigi quite the participation trophy. I used to stick up for Waluigi back when he was more hated, but in hindsight all he's ever done for me are the intro movies for Mario Power Tennis and Mario Golf Toadstool Tour. Amazing what webcomics and memes can do for a character.

I dislike discussion about who deserves to be in Smash, since I love Daisy and the Ice Climbers, so all I'll say is that Waluigi is very, very low priority on my wishlist.

Re: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct Livestream Coming This Wednesday

LArachelDisciple

Give me the Brawl Assist Trophies! I really want Drill Dozer and Custom Robo back in the game. Also boss battles and the Coin Launcher. I'd love those.

Among player characters, I'll cast a wide net: Shantae, K. Rool, Tora & Poppi, Dr. Coyle, Banjo & Kazooie, Ashley, Tetra, Gandrayda, Viridi, Lip, and Sharena. Maybe one of those will pop up.

Re: Video: Here's A Look At The Mega Man: Fully Charged Animated Series

LArachelDisciple

I think it looks okay. It probably helps that I've never found anything from the classic series particularly compelling. Those games aren't pinnacles of storytelling, in any case. It also probably helps that I have no standards when it comes to voice acting. You have to do very badly for me to notice it as bad.

It's cool that Mega Man is thinking about what he needs to do to be a better hero, especially since they are playing up human/robot relations to as their conflict. I'm reserving judgement until I get more of the supporting cast. How Aki Light interacts with his friends could make or break the show.

It's also worth noting how this is a good thing for Cartoon Network right now. They could really use a good new action show.

Re: Gallery: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Full Character Roster

LArachelDisciple

I'm happy to see Daisy but sad to not see a unique Daisy moveset. I suspect we'll be seeing more Echo characters since Sakurai tried to replace the more negative clone term with nifty Epsilon symbols. But hey, Pichu was my favorite from Melee and Pokemon Trainer is back with new Leaf form. Just give me the Coin Launcher and Boss Battles and I'll consider this a success.

Re: Talking Point: Nintendo's E3 2018 Went Big On Smash Bros. But Left Us Wanting More

LArachelDisciple

I'm so hyped to play Pokemon Trainer again and Zelda's retro design looks great. Also, Ridley is finally here! I am worried at the lack of confirmed game modes, though. I want all the cool bells and whistles from Brawl back.

Otherwise, I got the look at Fire Emblem I was hoping for and Killer Queen Black looks neat. I'm pretty satisfied. We were missing things like Pikmin and Yoshi, but it was okay overall.

Re: FIFA 19 Officially Confirmed For Nintendo Switch, Launches This September

LArachelDisciple

Sea of Solitude looked the most interesting of the games shown. It seems the have the most creative ambition, if that makes sense. I'll be keeping an eye out for more on that and hoping it gets a Switch release.

Unravel 2 and Anthem were also pretty eye-catching in contrast to the sports games I will never be interested in. I respect Anthem's mission statement of trying to blend a stronger story into a multiplayer game, if nothing else.

All in all, a good warm-up for the rest of E3. EA came out with more interesting projects than I thought they would.

Re: The Debug Code Has Been Found For Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

LArachelDisciple

"After E3, Miyamoto-san played the prototype and said it was just a port of the GC version."
Remember when Sticker Star played too much like Thousand-Year Door? That still stings.
Those first 3 Paper Mario games are the reason I'm a Mario fan. Luckily, I still have my copies and don't need any Switch ports. I'd love to have those ports anyway, though.

Re: No, Sega Is Not Returning To The Home Console Arena

LArachelDisciple

I just want Sakura Wars localized. I loved the 5th one. Also bring back Billy Hatcher.

As for the actual news, It's cool that they are covering their bases with this release. Even if its bad emulation, someone will still enjoy it. I am sick of Genesis emulators, though. Where's the lousy Dreamcast emulator?

Re: Nintendo's E3 2018 Site Is Now Open For Business

LArachelDisciple

1. I hope we get another Fire Emblem Echoes remake, but this time for The Sacred Stones
2. Super Mario Sunshine 2. I want more F.L.U.D.D.!
3. Retro Studies has been working on a new Ice Climber or new Custom Robo.
4. Shantae announced in Smash.
5. An early trailer for the Super Mario Bros. Movie

Re: Soapbox: What The Upcoming Pokémon Switch RPG Can Learn From Recent Pokémon Games

LArachelDisciple

I wish Pokestar Studios had taken off. It was so cool to have a mission mode that gave you fun scenarios to play out. I'd combine it with the Contest's' grooming mechanics for the ultimate sidequest.

As for Mega Evolutions and Z-Moves, I don't like them. Why not just use the Mega Mawile design as a normal evolution? I feel like Mega Evolutions were created just as a ploy to make Charizard viable without evolving it normaly again. Z-moves just annoy me aesthetically, but at least I understand them mechanically.

I hope Pokemon continues to expand its story. I like stories in games and never understood the general aversion to them in favor of "exploration." For me, exploration means having lots of options but not feeling any reason to do any of them. My proposed compromise is to have a story-driven postgame. That way, the player has seen everything on the map by the time the cutscenes kick in.

Re: Poll: Have Your Say on the Best Main Series 3D Mario and Zelda Games

LArachelDisciple

Sunshine is my favorite from the whole list, proving what a freak I am. I haven't played Odyssey, though.

64: Admire these games, but it's hard to go back to them. I pick Majora's Mask for its unique 3-day storytelling method, which is cool but annoying to replay. The real winner would be Paper Mario.

GC: Easily Sunshine, which is funny since Wind Waker is one of my favorite Zeldas. I love using F.L.U.D.D. and seeing the island areas. Plus Petey Piranha is the best. The real winner would be Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.

Wii: Tougher call. I found these games to be fairly meh, containing enough bad elements to counteract the good elements. I went with Twilight Princess only because it gave Smash Bros. a Zelda design. The real winner would be Super Paper Mario.

Wii U: The critical mass of repetitiveness. New Mario Bros vs. Zelda rereleases. I voted Mario because he at least stalled with new games. 3D World is my favorite from this list for its multiple player characters and cute additions like Plessie and Sprixies. I haven't played Color Splash, sadly.

Switch: Couldn't vote because I haven't played Odyssey.

The clear winner is Paper Mario, but we have to table the best Mario games because Zelda lacks an equivalent.
