Heck yeah I'm playing it! My most anticipated Switch game by a mile!

I'm not expecting to like it as much as Three Houses but I'm still sure I'll enjoy it. Three Houses is near if not at the very top of my favorite Nintendo games ever though so Engage always had quite a lot to live up to for me. Looking forward to trying it this weekend!

Ah very good! I'll definitely be participating in the social stuff myself as well. Nice of them to make it a bit more optional for folks that aren't as interested in that aspect of modern Fire Emblems though.

Very pumped for this! It's a bit weird though. Some previews say it's the anti-Three Houses while others say it builds on Three Houses social elements. Doesn't seem like there is a consensus on if it's social elements are like Three Houses or not which I find interesting.

Oh well, I'll find out soon enough when I play it.

Very excited to kick off the new year with a new Fire Emblem game! Three Houses is far and away my favorite Switch game so this was always going to be a purchase goofy looking protagonist and all. Looking forward to it!

I haven't watched the anime since I was a kid but it's good to hear he finally accomplished his dream. Congrats Ash and Pikachu!

Toon Link easily. Cat-eye Link is about as awkward to say as it gets! Toon Link also works better since it helps explain what the Wind Waker art style is. Who would call it Cat-Eye art style? Plus Smash calls him Toon Link. Case closed.

Dude just said "Fine I'll do it myself!" Great name for the tournament.😄

However I hope he is ready to fight Nintendo/Panda because they sure as heck are not going to like this.

Man. Nintendo REALLY hates the competitive Smash community don't they?

I'd say Sony kind of already is like Nintendo. They have a very strong emphasis on 1st party titles and while I like the occasional Nintendo exclusive I can't deny Playstation exclusives generally appeal to me more. It also helps that their online service isn't bad.

Nintendo is the one of the only players in town when it comes to portable gaming though so they got that going for them.

There has been a lot of Sonic this year. Thankfully it has all been good to great content so hopefully this is good too. I like the cyber looking versions of the support cast!

I guarantee a Persona 5 costume is one of them. It would be even cooler if we got a few Persona themed Cyberspace levels!

To be fair the Switch in terms of power is about on par with a Wii U, which was about on par with an Xbox 360 or PS3.

At this point it's a miracle 3rd party games like this can even run on it let alone perform well. We all knew it would be like this at launch.

I finished it back on the good ol Wii U. Still a little sad that version took no advantage of the gamepad because they were focused on the Switch version. Wind Waker was great on Wii U in part because it used the gamepad effectively.

When I eventually got a Switch I said I was going to play the DLC there but I didn't finish it.

I'm only on the 2nd island so I haven't gotten too far yet but I honestly love it so far. I'm at least an 8 at the moment but I could easily see myself at a 9 if I continue to like it as much as I do currently.

It's rough around the edges but overall I'm having a blast with it!

It's no surprise of course the Switch is the worst in terms of performance so I went with the PS5 version. I must say though I disagree with a lot of the other issues. It's definitely a collectathon but I've had a blast figuring out the routes to get the collectables and have discovered many unique ways that I know were not the intended method to get many of them.

Plus I don't really know how else Sonic could work without some degree of autopilot for platforming. I think they found a good balance with it though especially for the Cyberspace levels as your not going to get S ranks on many of the stages without getting creative.

To each their own though. Personally I haven't enjoyed a Sonic game this much since Adventure 2 and I also think it's surprising better than Mario Odyssey if I dare say so myself.

I said I was going to start God of War first but since it came out a day earlier I decided to fire it up and give it a shot.

I'm absolutely hooked! Got about 10 hours clocked in and I'm really enjoying it! Reminds me of like an N64 era collectathon platformer only your playing as Sonic obviously. Sure it's a bit rough around the edges but it's got it where it counts so I'm happy!

Not spoiling it but one of the earlier boss encounters...jaw dropping is the only way to to describe it!

I realized a long time ago I don't need Switch online and I haven't looked back since. Unless you really want to play classic games there's just no reason to have it in my opinion.

Sonic is fast and the hero. Tails is good with machines. Knuckles defends the chaos emeralds. Dr. Robotnik tries to take over the world. Amy has the hots for Sonic. Shadow is the ultimate edge lord. Big the Cat likes to fish.

Yikes. Probably the two biggest games of the month have both leaked big time. Why do people gotta be so inconsiderate? I wonder what it is that makes people enjoy doing this? Shame on them.

Good for Bayonetta. In the end the controversy helped much more than it hindered.

A little off topic but why does Modern Warfare get so much trouble for the name? God of War literally did the exact same thing for the 2018 title and no one gives them trouble. I just find it a bit strange is all.

That's about what I expected. I played it on PS5 and agree it's an excellent game! Possibly my favorite of the year honestly. The Switch is just not up to snuff for something like this though. It's a cool system but if a game can't run natively, I don't even bother.

I'll get to it eventually. Not sure when though. Still working on other games at the moment.

Though it was ultimately disappointing, Star Fox Zero is a great example of one of the problems with the system. Nintendo just never seemed to release anything of substance that used its unique form factor and when they did, it usually was underwhelming.

It's a shame too. I really liked the idea of the Wii U. Regardless I hope you like your time with it!

Eek. Well she just kind of confirmed the Bloomberg report indirectly. I like sticking it to the man as much as the next guy but it has to be through the truth. Twisting the truth to fit your narrative is never the correct path.

I was sort of on the fence already and Plague Tale Requiem is out tomorrow. By the time I finish that it will be about God of War time but maybe after Evil West I'll get to it. Too many games I'm interested in!

Definitely a weird situation. If the 4K offer is true, that is a pretty low ball offer considering she was the voice of the main character. However, Jennifer Hale is a pretty well known actress at this point. I doubt she would have taken that sort of offer either. Plus regardless of people's feelings on Kamiya we don't have their side of the story. All we got is a vague Twitter post that doesn't really say much at all.

As for if I'm buying it...honestly I was on the fence before all this even came about so I'm still kind of where I was before.

A little strange to have these considering it, you know has been out for quite some time now but it is Atlus so I'm not shocked.

As far as visuals go it looks excellent! No complaints honestly there. I also though Jack and Keegan sounded great as Bowser and Toad. My only holdup is Chris's Mario though...not the best first impression but we only got a small sample size so maybe it will grow on me.

Overall, a solid first look I'd say.

It's mostly just the Colgate man that I don't dig. The rest of the cast I have no problem with. Super pumped though! Bring on January!

I did enjoy Splatoon 2 well enough. The only reason I don't play it much these days though is simply because it's still kind of a pain to play with friends outside of Splatfests. I remember my buddy and I would literally play maybe one game on the same team out of at least 15 or so. It's a real shame because when it's working it's a good fun time.

Probably going to be my first game purchase of 2023. Looks great!...besides the main character looking like Colgate given human form but I can live with that!

I like Dunkey and some of his content he puts up every now and then but this whole sales pitch came off pretty egotistical. Not a great first impression but hopefully something good can come from this publishing label.

Boy that Rockstar hack really made a big mess didn't it?

Before I say this, I respect Sakurai and appreciate how much effort he has put into Smash Bros over the years. However, I think people are way over the top about how incredible he is. It kind of reminds me of the way hard-core Kojima fans talk about him.

While I love Smash I just don't see it as untouchable as people make it out to be. For myself anyway I think MultiVersus has proven Smash isn't untouchable. It would be a lie to say I've played more Smash Ultimate than MultiVersus at this point.

Smash Ultimate may have an incredible roster and pays great respect to said fighters series they come from but the online is terrible and the single player modes weren't very interesting. There is absolutely room for improvement and maybe that comes from new blood at the top for the next entry. Look at how much better SF6 looks to be turning out to be after a shake up in leadership.

Sakurai is a great man that puts lots of effort into everything he touches but that doesn't mean someone else can't or doesn't do the same.

I actually like the name a bit more than Breath of the Wild. Sounds more epic in my opinion.

I'm still excited for the game and everything else looks great about it...but yeah he looks terrible 😄. It's not even just the hair but just the entire design from head to toe looks like he is trying to be a clown or something. The female variation looks a bit better but the hair and eyes still just look so goofy!

I would imagine you get to pick your gender for your main character like previous recent games. I agree I didn't get a good look at first but upon repeat viewing the female version looks much better. The dude just looks like a clown!

No bad. I got Fire Emblem so I'm happy. Though I will say that main character is ugly as sin. Dude looks like a complete clown!

There were way too many farm games too. I felt like I'd be passed out if I made a drinking game out of it!

As for Zelda, I need to know if actual dungeons are back before I get too excited.

Awesome game! Probably my second favorite of the year. Hope the Switch can handle it though. This is not a game to play with an inconsistent frame rate.

I did notice that. I hope so I really wanted to like the original more than I did.

If the party actually acknowledges each other's existence I will pick this up. That was my only real issue with the original and why I didn't finish it. Everything else about it was awesome.

And just like that. The Direct was a success!

At first I wasn't a fan of the art style but it grew on me. Looked pretty good. I'll keep an eye on it.
