Re: Talking Point: What Could NFTs Mean For Gaming, And Why Are They So Divisive?

Korgon

This was a great article! I actually finally feel like I have at least a somewhat better idea of how this whole thing works so thanks for doing all the research and hard work!

As for my take on it related to games, I think I'd be perfectly fine if the major companies just focus on improving their refund policies instead of making games themselves NFTs. They just don't sound like they would really add anything of value and would just cause more headaches than anything but that's just how I see it.

@AlexHarford
I did used to like collecting games. Now just generally go wherever the best deal is be it digital or physical. I guess that makes some sense to think of it that way though. But even then I still wouldn't buy a physical game no matter how much I want that game for thousands of dollars regardless of if it's physical or not. I guess it's just a matter of value in the eye of the beholder. NFTs just seem like a waste of money to me but hey if someone is willing to drop so much cash on them who am I to say it's a waste of money to the seller.

@AlexHarford
That's what's so crazy to me. Why would someone drop tons of cash on something they don't really understand or need? Are they really buying these things because someone else told them that this picture of a stick is valuable? I appreciate you trying to teach me but I think im just a lost cause on understanding what the appeal of these things are.😅

Re: Best Of 2021: Remember When People Thought Switch Would Fail?

If I'm being honest I kind of wish it did. At least enough for Nintendo to go 3rd party but alas it wasn't meant to be. Don't get me wrong I like Nintendo games, but that's about it from them. Although weirdly enough I did like the idea of the Wii U even though it didn't ever hit its full potential.

Re: Poll: So, How Would You Rate Nintendo's 2021?

Korgon

It was pretty much just remasters except for Metroid which I'm not into and SMTV which I do intend to get to but I'm playing another JRPG at the moment so I haven't gotten to it. The only switch game I played was Hades and that came out last year...and I also didn't really care for that one.

I think next year will definitely be better with Bayonetta 3, Kirby and possibly Zelda but yeah this year was pretty much a wash for myself on Switch.

Re: Soapbox: Nintendo's Game Awards No-Show Proves It Simply Doesn't Need Anyone Else

Korgon

Do they need these shows? No, but neither do Sony or Microsoft. It ends up benefitting all involved however if they involve themselves. Events like these involve fans of all kinds which means everyone has a chance to pitch their product to potential new customers.

Oh and there's also the awards too. I generally don't care about them since most of the games I play don't even get nominated but I'm still happy for the devs who get to celebrate their work.

TGA's are meant to be a celebration on both what came before and what's coming in the future. I'm sure the only reason Nintendo had no presence was that it just didn't line up with their development pipeline, not because Doug Bowser said "Bah! Who needs the Game Awards!?"
