Nintendo barely understands the internet as it is. I could only imagine the nonsense Nintendo NFTs would bring about. Just focus on making great games!
I understand their position here but I can't say I'm pumped to have to play switch for many more years to come. Oh well as long as they can release good games for it that's all that matters in the end.
Gotta say I didn't think GameFreak had it in them but looks like it's at the very least unique to other Pokémon games which has me interested for the first time in a long time. I won't be playing Friday though. Maybe after Elden Ring.
Definitely waiting to see some reviews before I plunk down money for this as I just don't trust GameFreak but I will give them this I'm at least interested which is more than I can say for most Pokémon releases. Hope it goes well!
Nintendo hasn't had great 3rd party support in ages. You buy a Nintendo console for Nintendo games. It's as simple as that so no this doesn't affect them much.
"Interestingly, Konami will also celebrate the winners of this auction by listing the names of the original buyers on its website for 10 months."
Oh that should go over well. I'm sure people online will wholeheartedly wish all the "winners" congratulations on their investments. That sounds like a terrific idea!
This was a great article! I actually finally feel like I have at least a somewhat better idea of how this whole thing works so thanks for doing all the research and hard work!
As for my take on it related to games, I think I'd be perfectly fine if the major companies just focus on improving their refund policies instead of making games themselves NFTs. They just don't sound like they would really add anything of value and would just cause more headaches than anything but that's just how I see it.
Very nice. Sega was easily my favorite publisher last gen by a mile. 5 of my favorite games from last gen were all Sega involved in some way so any good Sega news is good news for me!
@AlexHarford I did used to like collecting games. Now just generally go wherever the best deal is be it digital or physical. I guess that makes some sense to think of it that way though. But even then I still wouldn't buy a physical game no matter how much I want that game for thousands of dollars regardless of if it's physical or not. I guess it's just a matter of value in the eye of the beholder. NFTs just seem like a waste of money to me but hey if someone is willing to drop so much cash on them who am I to say it's a waste of money to the seller.
@AlexHarford That's what's so crazy to me. Why would someone drop tons of cash on something they don't really understand or need? Are they really buying these things because someone else told them that this picture of a stick is valuable? I appreciate you trying to teach me but I think im just a lost cause on understanding what the appeal of these things are.😅
If I'm being honest I kind of wish it did. At least enough for Nintendo to go 3rd party but alas it wasn't meant to be. Don't get me wrong I like Nintendo games, but that's about it from them. Although weirdly enough I did like the idea of the Wii U even though it didn't ever hit its full potential.
I doubt we get the Switch successor next year. 2023 at the earliest I'd say. The system is still too profitable to kill off yet and if we've learned one thing about Nintendo it's that they don't care how out of date their hardware is compared to the competition. I do think BOTW2 is likely though next year.
It was pretty much just remasters except for Metroid which I'm not into and SMTV which I do intend to get to but I'm playing another JRPG at the moment so I haven't gotten to it. The only switch game I played was Hades and that came out last year...and I also didn't really care for that one.
I think next year will definitely be better with Bayonetta 3, Kirby and possibly Zelda but yeah this year was pretty much a wash for myself on Switch.
Hah these are pretty funny! I liked Hollow Knight for a while but it was too long in my opinion. Never finished it but I wish the folks that liked it well and here's hoping Silksong is making progress.
I really only played Hades on my Switch this year and not for long. Just nothing that really interested me this year for Switch. Next year should see more use though.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who was reminded of 06 when I saw the trailer! They certainly gave a more open Sonic a shot with that one but alas it was...no use.
Do they need these shows? No, but neither do Sony or Microsoft. It ends up benefitting all involved however if they involve themselves. Events like these involve fans of all kinds which means everyone has a chance to pitch their product to potential new customers.
Oh and there's also the awards too. I generally don't care about them since most of the games I play don't even get nominated but I'm still happy for the devs who get to celebrate their work.
TGA's are meant to be a celebration on both what came before and what's coming in the future. I'm sure the only reason Nintendo had no presence was that it just didn't line up with their development pipeline, not because Doug Bowser said "Bah! Who needs the Game Awards!?"

I wonder what goes through these people's heads when they buy a sound effect for thousands of dollars. I really truly just don't get it.🤷♂️

It's probably only 480p because Sonic is so fast that it blurs the image anyway. They just figured let's go all the way!

Playstation did this with Vita as well recently. It's a bit of an inconvenience but at least they aren't taking down the store yet.
