Re: Video: Digital Foundry's Smash Bros. Ultimate VS MultiVersus Comparison

Korgon

I like Smash and always will, but it would be a lie to say MultiVersus hasn't overtaken it for me shockingly. I think it plays great personally. The most obvious improvement is WAY better online but there are others.

I like the idea of each character having skills specifically meant for 2V2 as it makes that style of match much more exciting to see the different strategies people come up with. It also doesn't take away from 1V1 with useless moves for the most part except for Raindog's tether move.

At least for now there are no clone characters in the roster. If they can keep up the uniqueness with dlc characters this is a huge win.

The stage hazards are also actually fun and not an annoyance unlike most of Smashes stage hazards. It's very satisfying to hit the trap floor switches on the Scooby-Doo stage to sneak in a quick KO on an unsuspecting bystander!

And to top it off the thing I was most worried about going in, the free to play aspect, feels fine if not excellent honestly. If you only want to play as one character online you can do that for only a fraction of a full priced game or if you want the whole roster unlocked the founder pack essentially simulates a normal full game purchase. I don't feel like they are trying to rip me off like most free to play titles. Only thing is the costume prices are a little hit and miss but overall I think they got a good balance.

Smash may have the bigger roster and budget but MultiVersus has it where it counts and thats enough for me.

Re: Square Enix Confirms It's Making Final Fantasy NFTs

Korgon

@Ogbert
Ah I appreciate the clarification. So I guess it's not the actual NFT that Square thinks people will "enjoy" but the manufactured "value" the NFT provides.

Thanks that actually makes a little more sense even if the concept is still dumb. 😄

Re: Square Enix Confirms It's Making Final Fantasy NFTs

The irony is quite hysterical. Also how does someone "enjoy" an NFT? I get admiring the craftsmanship that goes into an actual real figurine but the NFT is just going to be a jpeg. You can literally get the exact same "enjoyment" out of just looking at the picture in the article for free as opposed to spending $130-150!

I just don't get it man...

Re: "Screw This Game" - Sonic Origins Modder Halts Development On Massive Patch

Korgon

I've had a great time with it personally. The only issue that got a little annoying was Tails getting stuck and constantly jumping for the rest of the stage in 2. Other than that though I think it's excellent. This is coming from someone who grew up on these games too though I was always kind of terrible at them as a kid and never finished them. Thank God for anniversary mode!

Re: Talking Point: Should Sonic Frontiers Be Delayed? We Discuss Its Bizarre Debut And Fan Reaction

Korgon

I actually liked the exploration demonstration minus the bugs and pop-in and whatnot. The combat looks pretty rough but then again combat has never been Sonic's strongest asset.

I think the more appealing approach would have been to have the open world act sort of like the hub that connects the more linear levels together with some cool secrets here and there. Kind of like Generations white world but a 3D open version of it.

I don't think it's a lost cause just yet but like the article said it just looks a bit too aimless. I think there is potential here but Sonic Team might simply not be up to the task to realize that potential.

Re: Capcom's Next Street Fighter Game Won't Be A PlayStation Console Exclusive

Korgon

I never understood why folks thought this would be exclusive. Capcom was in a very different place financially when developing SFV than they are now. Sony essentially pulled a Nintendo/Bayonetta 2 situation and funded V as a PS4 exclusive. Today though Capcom is thriving so of course they didn't need Sony to foot the bill this time around.

Quite frankly I thank Sony for doing so as because if they didn't do so SFV may have never been made in which case we may never have seen SF6 come around.

Re: Geoff Keighley Shares Hype Message Ahead Of Summer Game Fest

Korgon

@ATaco
That's a fair point but at the same time I don't think it's Geoff's fault. His shows aren't ment to cater to one publisher or another. I'm sure if Nintendo wished to debut something of substance at one of his shows he would gladly do so. If fact he has done so in the past with Bayonetta 3 and Joker coming to Smash for example.

It just seems like folks are a little hard on the guy for no real good reason but oh well.

Re: Geoff Keighley Shares Hype Message Ahead Of Summer Game Fest

Korgon

Yikes it's a tough crowd here on Nintendolife! I personally have always enjoyed Geoff's shows throughout the years so I'm looking forward to it. He does usually at least have a few pretty big announcements at his shows and with how much less there are of 3rd party showcases this year I could definitely see there being some good stuff at his show.

Plus in the last few years the guy has gotten the reveal of the Xbox Series X console as well as the re-reveal of our lord and savior Elden Ring so he definitely has a solid track record of at least having something of major consequence at his shows.

Re: Nintendo Says It Wants To Avoid A Repeat Of Wii U With Switch's Successor

Korgon

It's a worthy concern for sure. Also I know they won't do it but I'd like whatever the successor to at least be around the equivalent of a PS4 in terms of power. It doesn't need to compete with PS5 and Series X but I can't deny how simply old Switch games look for the most part compared the other two.

If it fails however I'm sure they will just come by with something else the next go around.

Re: Random: WWE's Stone Cold Steve Austin Says Breath Of The Wild Is The Best Zelda Game

Korgon

Sorry Stone Cold I can't agree. I liked BOTW but the main "dungeons" were pretty uninspiring and the weapon degradation system made exploration feel kind of pointless outside of doing shrines to level up your health or stamina. Nothing more disappointing than climbing up this big mountain just to find a sword that will break in 5 swings. Ocarina is still the king for me.

Still looking forward to BOTW2 though!
