I like Smash and always will, but it would be a lie to say MultiVersus hasn't overtaken it for me shockingly. I think it plays great personally. The most obvious improvement is WAY better online but there are others.
I like the idea of each character having skills specifically meant for 2V2 as it makes that style of match much more exciting to see the different strategies people come up with. It also doesn't take away from 1V1 with useless moves for the most part except for Raindog's tether move.
At least for now there are no clone characters in the roster. If they can keep up the uniqueness with dlc characters this is a huge win.
The stage hazards are also actually fun and not an annoyance unlike most of Smashes stage hazards. It's very satisfying to hit the trap floor switches on the Scooby-Doo stage to sneak in a quick KO on an unsuspecting bystander!
And to top it off the thing I was most worried about going in, the free to play aspect, feels fine if not excellent honestly. If you only want to play as one character online you can do that for only a fraction of a full priced game or if you want the whole roster unlocked the founder pack essentially simulates a normal full game purchase. I don't feel like they are trying to rip me off like most free to play titles. Only thing is the costume prices are a little hit and miss but overall I think they got a good balance.
Smash may have the bigger roster and budget but MultiVersus has it where it counts and thats enough for me.
I thankfully had a pretty much bug free time when I played it. These games still hold up really well! Glad to see the Tails glitch in particular being fixed. That was the only bug I ran into.
Oh dear there will be a reckoning if any of the big three try to raise the price of their consoles. I can only imagine the backlash that would ensue. That should absolutely be a last resort.
I love Mario Kart 8 but I've literally played it to death at this point so I'll pass. Maybe after all the courses come out I'll pick them up but I'm in no hurry.
I legit forgot the app existed.😄 Deleted it like after two weeks after it launched and have never looked back! But I also don't use my Switch online at all so it all works out in the end.
@Ogbert
Ah I appreciate the clarification. So I guess it's not the actual NFT that Square thinks people will "enjoy" but the manufactured "value" the NFT provides.
Thanks that actually makes a little more sense even if the concept is still dumb. 😄
The irony is quite hysterical. Also how does someone "enjoy" an NFT? I get admiring the craftsmanship that goes into an actual real figurine but the NFT is just going to be a jpeg. You can literally get the exact same "enjoyment" out of just looking at the picture in the article for free as opposed to spending $130-150!
My brothers and I watched this movie countless times when we were kids. An absolute gem of a movie! Chun-Li vs Vega was definitely the stand out fight. I only wish Cammy could have had a fight with Bison at some point but I love this movie. A true classic!
Honestly thought it was excellent. Very few issues for myself. I did get the Tails jumping constantly glitch a few times in 2 though so I'm glad to see that will probably be fixed soon.
@Ventilator Well technically Sega refused to fund the sequels and Sega is the publisher of the series, not Sony. I can see why as well considering the series hasn't exactly ever been a big seller. Honestly the fact Nintendo has funded a 3rd game at all is nothing short of a miracle.
Don't get me wrong it looks good and I appreciate Nintendo continuing to support this series but boy oh boy what I wouldn't give for a PS5 version of this! Oh well can't get everything in life.
I've had a great time with it personally. The only issue that got a little annoying was Tails getting stuck and constantly jumping for the rest of the stage in 2. Other than that though I think it's excellent. This is coming from someone who grew up on these games too though I was always kind of terrible at them as a kid and never finished them. Thank God for anniversary mode!
You should play them because they are excellent RPGs. Simple! P5 is my favorite game of all time and P3 and P4 are right up there with the best as well. Honestly if you are a fan of JRPGs and never played Persona...whew your in for a treat!
I tried it a while ago and I will say it is one of the few phone games I ever slightly liked at all. That said, all it did was just make me want to go play a real Fire Emblem. It's a watered-down Fire Emblem with microtransactions galore. Why anyone would play it over just playing an actual Fire Emblem is beyond me.
He was an awesome talent and provided some of the most memorable voices from some of my favorite games in recent years. RIP to Billy and my thoughts to his family. I will never forget the man behind Ferdinand von Aegir or Ogata!
I'm good. I've played them both but honestly couldn't tell you what either of them are about. Story wasn't Bayonetta's strength. It's all about the gameplay.
Also Bayonetta 1 is pretty rough to play these days as the quick time events are absurd in that game. Bayonetta 2 is much much better in my opinion.
I actually liked the exploration demonstration minus the bugs and pop-in and whatnot. The combat looks pretty rough but then again combat has never been Sonic's strongest asset.
I think the more appealing approach would have been to have the open world act sort of like the hub that connects the more linear levels together with some cool secrets here and there. Kind of like Generations white world but a 3D open version of it.
I don't think it's a lost cause just yet but like the article said it just looks a bit too aimless. I think there is potential here but Sonic Team might simply not be up to the task to realize that potential.
I never understood why folks thought this would be exclusive. Capcom was in a very different place financially when developing SFV than they are now. Sony essentially pulled a Nintendo/Bayonetta 2 situation and funded V as a PS4 exclusive. Today though Capcom is thriving so of course they didn't need Sony to foot the bill this time around.
Quite frankly I thank Sony for doing so as because if they didn't do so SFV may have never been made in which case we may never have seen SF6 come around.
It's a shame Nintendo is like this. There is so much great music from their games. Hopefully one day they will come around. Heck Atlus did so maybe there's hope some day.
@ATaco That's a fair point but at the same time I don't think it's Geoff's fault. His shows aren't ment to cater to one publisher or another. I'm sure if Nintendo wished to debut something of substance at one of his shows he would gladly do so. If fact he has done so in the past with Bayonetta 3 and Joker coming to Smash for example.
It just seems like folks are a little hard on the guy for no real good reason but oh well.
Not trying to upset anyone but I really wish they were making another DKC game instead of Metroid Prime 4. I never liked Metroid Prime but Tropical Freeze is legitimately one of Nintendo's very best platformers out there to this day.
Yikes it's a tough crowd here on Nintendolife! I personally have always enjoyed Geoff's shows throughout the years so I'm looking forward to it. He does usually at least have a few pretty big announcements at his shows and with how much less there are of 3rd party showcases this year I could definitely see there being some good stuff at his show.
Plus in the last few years the guy has gotten the reveal of the Xbox Series X console as well as the re-reveal of our lord and savior Elden Ring so he definitely has a solid track record of at least having something of major consequence at his shows.
@Lizuka I agree it is starting to be a bit much. I get that he is apparently an important new character for SF6 but still. A little restraint would be appreciated Capcom!
I've never heard of this series before but I'm intrigued! I have a few other things to get through first but this sounds like a nice little gem with some cool ideas. Consider it on the radar!
It's a worthy concern for sure. Also I know they won't do it but I'd like whatever the successor to at least be around the equivalent of a PS4 in terms of power. It doesn't need to compete with PS5 and Series X but I can't deny how simply old Switch games look for the most part compared the other two.
If it fails however I'm sure they will just come by with something else the next go around.
Well that's unfortunate. I really hope the family reconsiders. That seems like an awfully rigid stance to take. I wonder if this could spell trouble for other fighters too like Liu Kang in MK.
I never minded at all. In fact I can point out one instance where it made the cover art look much better. Assassin's Creed 2 had a heavy emphasis on the color red and on PS3 I got the Greatest Hits version which is red and it actually looks really slick with the cover art.
Plus it highlights games that are on sale for cheaper in the store so it certainly has a purpose.
Sorry Stone Cold I can't agree. I liked BOTW but the main "dungeons" were pretty uninspiring and the weapon degradation system made exploration feel kind of pointless outside of doing shrines to level up your health or stamina. Nothing more disappointing than climbing up this big mountain just to find a sword that will break in 5 swings. Ocarina is still the king for me.
Pretty sure the game isn't going turn into a toxic wasteland. It just came out so course you will get folks doing stuff like this. I actually welcome it as it fires me up even more to take those folks down but I understand parents not wanting their child to see "Big ***** Lover" in a friendly game of Tennis. 😄

I'll believe when I see it. It feels like I've seen rumors relating to Konami remembering they own MGS for years now. If true though, then awesome!
