Re: Hardware Review: 8BitDo SN30 Pro+ - The Best Third-Party Switch Controller Just Got Better

Knuckles

@MasterJay 8BitDo had to change the original designs after Nintendo decided to release the NES JoyCons, and the datamine leak for the SNES and SFC designs. Most likely, Nintendo asked 8BitDo to change the designs. Also, they came out with the Wired SN30 Pro a few months ago, but all of their controllers work with the USB cord as a wired controller too.

@GrantM3 Only Nintendo themselves produce controllers with HD Rumble, but this controller does have Motion/Gyro controls.

@Kobeskillz The majority of people who get controllers from 8BitDo like them. My best friend and I were buying them before Switch Compatibility was announced. 8BitDo's quality has gone up a lot over the last few years. Sorry to hear you haven't had the best of luck with them. The only problem my best friend and I have had is one of the controllers stopped working, his SNES30 Pro, but that entire first run of controllers had USB-C issues. 8BitDo figured it out, released more without problems, for both the SNES30 Pro, and all future releases so far.

Re: Smash Bros. Ultimate 'Everyone Is Here' Mural Artist Explains How It Was Made

Knuckles

@Nintendosuxkok Hi! You must have missed the Smash Hype and Trailers before the game came out. The image included in the article, it's not the full mural. You might have noticed that Breath of the Wild Link is missing from the mural too, even though he's talked about in the article. The full mural includes every playable character in Smash Ultimate, and yes, that includes Little Mac.

Re: Play Your Nintendo 64 On Modern Displays With The Super 64 HDMI Adaptor

Knuckles

Just a reminder, since a lot of people are complaining about the price and listing other products for HD N64 Gaming, this is truly lagless. Other products on the market, even the Wii2HD adapter have lag. The reason this is so expensive is because it has no lag. For most, the lag introduced by the other adapters won't be noticable, and that's fine. But for those who want a truly lagless experience, it might be worth the cost to them to use it on a modern display.

Re: Power Rangers: Battle For The Grid Arrives Next Week On Switch eShop

Knuckles

@justin233 Power Rangers exists to primarily sell toys. An interesting fact is that almost every morphed scene, where the Rangers are fighting bad guys comes from the Japanese series Super Sentai, where a season of Super Sentai and Power Rangers share the same costume. Super Sentai is almost 50 years, I don't believe it's going to stop soon. So long as the toys keep selling, I don't believe Power Rangers will stop anytime soon.

Re: Multiple Cheat Codes For Sonic Mania Have Been Discovered

Knuckles

@Super_Smash_Lad These were just added in the Encore Mode update. You don't need to own Encore mode to use them, you just need to download the newest update.

@Redax You need 16 Medals from the Blue Sphere Bonus Stages, so completing the stage. Doesn't need to be a gold medal for Perfect. Make sure to give it a try every checkpoint you pass with 25 rings.

@G-Boy These are just as complicated as the cheat codes in Sonic 2 and Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Mania is continuing their traditions.

Re: Review: Sonic Mania Plus (Switch)

Knuckles

@BlueOcean It is true that Jackson composed music for the game, and that Sega/Sonic Team was unable to use replace it in time for Sonic 3's deadline. Compare Knuckles theme in Sonic 3 to his theme in Sonic & Knuckles, the Invinciblity Music from Sonic 3 to Sonic & Knuckles, and the end credits to Sonic 3 against the end credits to Sonic & Knuckles. These songs share the same chords with Jackson songs such as Blood on the Dance Floor, Jam, and Strangers in Moscow.

SEGA also wanted to break away from Jackson at about the same time, because of the allegations against him and young children. Had Sonic Team successfully replaced the Jackson/Buxer music, there wouldn't be any of these issues.

For the 1997 Release of Sonic 3 & Knuckles on Windows, the songs to Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base were changed. Sonic Team"s Takashi Iizuka has gone on record recently stating that they changed the music because the songs couldn't be converted properly from the Genesis to Windows. I think it was a quality issue, not exactly sure. The problem being, and I've listened to the new tracks, they are out of place with the rest of the music in the game. There would be severe fan backlash to this change.

Also, to my knowledge, there is no version of S3&K on PS.

From my understanding, Sonic Team and Sega can port the ROM with no legal trouble, but not remaster the game ala Sonic 1, 2 and CD. If not Jackson or Buxer, there is another composer who wants money from their involvement in the game. Sega just finds it financially smarter to not release the game to avoid any potential issues that have arisen within the last decade over the 1994 game.

Re: Review: Sonic Mania Plus (Switch)

Knuckles

@Giygas_95 I heard the same thing months ago shortly after Mania Plus was announced. I'm certain I heard it from official channels, so I believe it's in the game.

@ThomasBW84 Hello! Always nice to see a comment from you, and reread some of your review too!

@Damo Seeing as Thomas' original review is still up as a separate review, maybe you should remove the part about the Home Menu bug in this review. It was fixed in Patch 1.0.3 of Sonic Mania, GameXplain covers it here at 0:35 seconds. https://youtu.be/XunOywso9SI. Unless of course this bug was reintroduced to the Mania Plus release.

@Jokerwolf Can you link me to a source for the Friday release date for the DLC? All I can find are articles saying July 17th.

@BlueOcean Don't hold your breath for a Christian Whitehead Remaster of Sonic 3 & Knuckles. Whitehead pitched the idea to Sega a few years ago and they turned him down. As a result, he pitched Mania and they approved it. Sega doesn't want to release Sonic 3 & Knuckles again because of legal issues with Michael Jackson and Brad Buxer over the game's soundtrack, specifically Sonic 3's. The last time Sega released Sonic 3 & Knuckles was in 2011 on Steam. They stopped releasing Sonic 3 after that in every collection/port since, and last year they stopped including Sonic & Knuckles in their collections/Genesis Emulation Consoles too. If Sega and Co. could come to an agreement, then new ports of the game would be sold again, but as of right now, Sega finds it cheaper to not sell the game at all.

Re: Gallery: Sonic Mania Plus Is The Version Of Sonic Mania You've Always Wanted

Knuckles

@SonOfVon I don't feel silly at all. Money well spent, and it only cost me $44 dollars on Amazon with random discounts over the year I had it preordered. Comes out to roughly 24 dollars for a collectable statue that says "SEGA!" when pressed, a gold ring, which I always wanted as a Sonic Fan, and a mock Sonic Mania Genesis Cartridge. The other 20 was for the price of the game. Now I'm double dipping for another platform, with an artbook, reversable cover, and a shiny sleeve. Growing up on the Genesis, Sonic 3 & Knuckles was my favorite game as a kid, and I don't regret spending some more money on my favorite game of 2017.

@Bulkslash You probably also don't like Sonic 3, considering how the special stage entrances were copied from that game, and how Blue Spheres are the Special Stage Levels. Also, every main series Genesis/Mega Drive Sonic game gave you 3 continues after a game over, and placed you back at the start of a level. It's not doing anything different than the Genesis originals.

@Stocksy Sorry, can't do that. It's worth the money, or at the very least, 5 dollars to update to Mania Plus.

@majinx07 July 17th, same day as Mania Plus releases.

@Incognito_D Well, the base game for Mania is 19.99, the Plus DLC is costing 4-5 depending on your region, and the physical release of Plus has an artbook, which is costing about 5-6 depending on your region.

Re: One Guy Got Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy Up And Running On Switch

Knuckles

@NTELLIGENTMAN Quite an intelligent observation, but it's coming to Switch because a developer spent their weekend trying to get it on Switch, then Vicarious Visions and Activision approved the Switch Prototype. There was no guarantee the port to Switch was going to happen when the lone developer decided to work on it.

Re: Konami Is Set To Reveal Two New Games For Nintendo Switch At E3 2018

Knuckles

To everyone requesting MGS4 in some way, it's highly unlikely. The game was developed around the PS3's hardware to such a point that the Xbox 360 never even got a port. The game is still exclusive to PS3. Considering how Konami has pulled away from high investment game development over the last 5 years in particular, I can't see them going through the effort to port the game to Switch. Doesn't mean I wouldn't gladly welcome a good port though.
