Another brand new trailer has arrived for Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Let's Go, Eevee!, this time revealing that fan-favourite antagonists Jessie and James will appear in the game.
Yesterday we shared a video that showed off an utterly gorgeous new rendition of the Kanto region map, alongside other features such as hairstyles and costumes, but this new video might just top that. As you can see, new gameplay elements are shown including epic showdowns with legendary Pokémon Zapdos and Moltres, and - if you make sure not to blink - you'll spot Team Rocket's Jessie and James preparing for a battle.
This might not come as too much of a surprise considering the game is primarily based around Pokémon Yellow - which also featured the iconic duo as a nod to the anime series - but it's very nice indeed to have their appearance confirmed.
We don't know about you, but this trend of uplifting music and people having the time of their lives in these trailers is making us scarily giddy about the games' upcoming release. Are you looking forward to the new titles when they arrive this November? Let us know down below.

Only if they could make them say their intro when first encountered with the original English voice actors. A man can dream ...
First good thing I have heard about the game since the announcement. Hope Meowth talks, fully voiced, if he's batteling too and not just watching.
Great to see that all the girls are allowed their tell-tale late 90s midriffs with visible bellybuttons!
Well, it IS a remake of Yellow.
Personally, I've always wanted a remake of Kanto that follows the anime. It'd be really cool to have different storylines, Misty and Brock as traveling companions, etc.
I don't why I always found the Japanese Pokemon commercials so addicting. Maybe it's the music
Something from the original game is in the remake? Wow what a suprise
Nice to see them anyway, it's a cool reference!
@Ralizah Ash Gray. It's the best ROM hack for Pokemon out there. It follows all the original series including the first movie and it's really fun and well written.
I’ll be giddy for these games when they show actual new content I haven’t played through 5 times. Which is probably never.
Note on the map that Charmander is at Route 24, Bulbasaur at Cerulean City, and Squirtle is at Vermillion City?
Yeah, this looks to be a DIRECT PLOT-BY-PLOT remake of Yellow.
Sure, Warden's Slowpoke's Dentures and Surf will probably go the way of the do-do (Ride Pokémon and all), and there's all this new stuff and GO-based features, but Let's Go! looks like Yellow with the serial numbers filed off.
This is not a bad thing.
I’m glad this is a remake of Yellow, but what would be even more awesome is if GF made a game based off of the Pokémon Adventures manga!
@nessisonett Sounds interesting. I'll check it out!
@Pod Keep in mind that's the Japanese trailer, she'll probably be wearing a proper HRC inspired pantsuit in the US version. 😉
So much hate for these games!
I know I won't be buying them because of the forced guesture play.
This looks so fun, I can't wait!!
@marandahir It is when we’ve had 5 different visits to Kanto that all feel the same. I’m not opposed to revisiting Kanto, but I want to see it completely reimagined, not just a tile by tile recreation of the same region we’ve seen ad nauseum.
Okay, if Meowth confirmed as Full member of Team Rocket, will they Oftenly thrown to the sky & become a star like on Anime ?
@Lord ,True about the early haters most of it I don't get. I can understand wanting the proper next entry but these look fantastic to me and I like the connectivity with Pokemon Go which it seems to me these are aimed at that millions of people whose first Pokemon game experience was and is with playing Pokemon Go, in that retrospect these seem like a brilliant idea to me and I'm sure Nintendo has a surprise or two they have not announced yet concerning Lets Go .
With what I've seen so far I'm excited for November can't wait to finally get some more and better use of my Pokemon Go Mons.
The kids and I are excited. I can’t wait to play this game because your Pokémon walk beside you, you can ride some of them and this might be easy enough that my daughter can get into the game. Plus hello co-op play, which means I can play with my kids, especially my daughter who has a hard time with the regular Pokémon games.
WTF Pikachu uses electricity vs Zapdos? Its not very effective
Would love to play it but due to problems with fine motor skills aiming with motion controls is almost impossible for me so it seems unlikely i would be able to enjoy these games
The production values on this game are through the roof, but I can’t get over how dumbed down theses games are mechanically. It’s going to seem like a massive step backwards after the complexities this series has adopted. I’m sure I will play through one of these and enjoy it somewhat, but I’m still greatly looking forward to what they do next year with a proper eighth generation.
@dimi Not to be that guy, but electric moves do standard damage to Zapdos, seeing as it’s half flying-type...
@dimi
"Pikachu uses electricity vs Zapdos? Its not very effective."
Just let them do it and see the messages "It's NOT Very Effective."
Prepare for trouble!
Make it double
To protect the world from devastation!
To unite all peoples within our nation!
To denounce the evils of truth and love!
To extend our reach to the stars above! Jessie!
James!
Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!
Surrender now or prepare to fight!
Meowth! That's right!
I feel like these will either be really good or horrible. Nothing in between. It's very nice to look at, but requiring motion controls seems like a move that's a decade behind the curve.
@rjejr
Haha, oh lord.
Though if it does ring in a new era of 12-year-olds in lowriders and crop tops, Nintendo might end up with some stern looks pointed in their direction.
@Spectra
You still can throw Pokeballs even in Handheld Mode + Joy Cons attached on.
Just move your system by tilting.
One thing that i still curious is....
Can other Pokemons have their own hairstyle & clothes ?
I'm hyped for this!
Super Villain Oh no!! not that Team Rocket it's hard to defeat and too much annoying this level on stage.
Looks like this is the game that'll be bringing me back to Pokemón after a long long hiatus. Haven't played since the original ORAS and this just looks too good to pass up. I for one am excited and I can't wait.
Jessie is gorgeous
Can’t wait
November 16 is so far away, LOL. Cannot wait for this game!
@Pod "lowriders and crop tops"
Kinda like this?
They were in Pokemon Yellow.
This game would be perfect if it gave you the option to battle wild Pokemon.
Too bad.
@Zuljaras Meowth's original english voice actor is dead unfortunately -.-
Of interesting to note, it seems like the game's music is heavily based on the remixes of Kanto music used in the anime, rather than the music from the original game (which can be quite different). I'm all for that, the anime had a brilliant soundtrack.
@TeslaChippie Someday we might get "Gotta Catch 'Em All" song in some game. Those games are perfect for it but I doubt we could get something like that.
Such nostalgic notes in those games but the gimmick forced mechanics will ruin them.
@Zuljaras I'm gonna give the game a chance Game Freak aren't idiots and they've made some of my favorite games of all time, so I trust them on this one even if it is taking a different angle.
Now if only it didn't look like the kids at the beginning were insane from this game.
Or is that just me?
I wonder how this new catching will be like. If it's like Pokemon Go it will be cumbersome which could ruin the game for me and others.
Team Rocket's Blasting Off Agaaaaiinnnn!! Twinkle
I still don't get all the hate for this game just because it's a console game with a ball through mechanic from Go. It's still not Go, and Go does nothing a Yellow remake does. It's the first game accessory (other than high end controllers and fight sticks (Razer/MS Elite/Hori) I've been excited about in ages. It just looks so darn fun.
@ReaderRagfish The name is so clever though. It mixes identification with the mechanics of Pokemon GO! With the film "Let's Go, Pikachu!". It's really well thought IMO.
Ha so this will be the third Pokemon game to feature these guys, first was Pokemon Yellow and second was Pokemon Puzzle League.
Not surprising in the least since these two were featured in the original Yellow as well (though just known as "Rocket", if I recall), but it's still a nice nod!
While these two games are aimed at a more casual audience, I can't help but get more and more excited for these.
Wouldnt be a remake of pokemon yellow without them!
@dimi False. Electric attack are regular effective against Zapdos since it is part Flying type. You should know this by now.
@Lord Gesture's aren't forced. You can press A to throw. Aiming is motion only though.
My only hangups with these games:
Not battling wild Pokemon. But I suspect I can get over that
And limiting the Pokemon to the original 151. Another thing that isn't really a dealbreaker.
Otherwise, I am excited to play through Yellow/Kanto again.
Ok, not bad now I'm interested
I'm not a fan of this franchise. That is all
I was excited. Now I’m EVEN MORE excited. I started playing Pokémon Yellow just before the announcement. I put it down and decided to wait
@Pod No!!!!! It's sexual!
They're still trying their hardest to make remakes sell. You look historically at remade Pokemon games, and they never sell as well as mainline series games do. Then, of course fanboys argue, because it's a remake. So, they'll argue either way with these, either they sell like crap, and fanboys argue because they're remakes, or it sells modestly well, and they'll say because of the Go hype which died way down in 2017.
@abbyhitter yeah well ur right...i should. Fought Zapdos with pikachu as my main in so many games.
@Bolt_Strike
This isn’t a full new game though. It would be a lot to do both new plot and world space on top of new mechanics, in the off-year between main series titles. If Pokémon is to truly become an annual series, you’re going to have to deal with setting/story remakes every second or third year.
They’ve crammed huge mechanical changes into this title. It might be “simplified” from the competitive battle POV, but from a design perspective, not being able to carry over the mechanics of the previous titles is a huge change. They basically had to build the mechanics of this game from the ground up. Throwing out random encounters means completely rebalancing XP, trainer battle frequency, aggressiveness of wild Pokémon. Combine that with ride Pokémon, realistic sizes, and while the map is the same as Gen I essentially, the experience will be quite different.
@Anti-Matter I think it's been confirmed that the only Pokemon you can customize are Pikachu and Eevee for their respective editions.
@rjejr
Some parts of the world never got rid of the combo since then.
I'm loving the art style.
I hope they actually play a bigger role than they did in Yellow. In Yellow they kinda felt shoehorned in and kinda pointless.
@marandahir DLC would be a better option, then the people who don't want to spend full price on another game would be more willing to buy it. But in the long run they really need to massively scale up their workforce. 100some employees isn't nearly enough for yearly console games, they should have at least 3 times that many.
As for the mechanics, yes there's changes, but they're mainly either destructive to the gameplay or aesthetic fluff that doesn't affect the gameplay at all. They removed wild battles, they replaced HMs and probably biking with Poke Ride, they replaced the Safari Zone with Go Park. The only thing that's really constructive about these games so far is co-op. Meanwhile the core experience is going to be mainly similar. The capturing is dumbed down, but other than that you're going to be going through the same areas, catching the same Pokemon, and experiencing the same plot points as we've already done over and over again. The things that could actually change up this experience, new areas, new plot points, new forms and Pokemon, new features/facilities/gadgets, none of that has shown up yet and it's unlikely any of it will (with the exception of the 1 confirmed new Pokemon) considering how conservative and casual pandering this game is. So yeah, wake me up when they bother doing things like that and then maybe it'll be worth $60. As it stands now they're just being cheap, lazy, and cash grabby.
@LegendOfPokemon Including the decapitated Arbok?

@Cinaclov That’s the one! 😅
@Bolt_Strike
You WANT HMs?
I thought Ride Pokémon was one of the universally accepted changes of Sun and Moon.
I'm pretty sure Bike will still be in it, because Cycling Road.
Safari Zone is gone from Fuchsia City. We don't know that it's gone. Note Cinnabar Island's new volcano extension to the west. That could be a new area. There could well be new area additions we don't see on the map, too. We can't rule out a Safari Zone somewhere yet. After all, that location had already been transformed into the similar Pal Park in HGSS, serving the same purpose for RSE/FRLG 'mons as the GO Park does for GO 'mons.
Pokémon has DLC - they're called Event Distributions. Pokémon usually doesn't have paid DLC, however. But this game, in fact, it has paid launch-day DLC: PokéBall Plus, inclusive of Mew.
DLC would be a great option to add Sevii Islands, though, I agree. I just don't think it's Pokémon's way to do that. If they did microtransaction DLC, I'd more see them doing special downloadable purchasable outfits. Or a real money shop for PokéBalls and whatnot, since you need so many in Let's GO!, much like you do in GO.
@marandahir You're missing the point about HMs. No, I don't want them back. Replacing them with Ride Pokemon is a positive change, but they're an example of how this game's changes are more destructive, they're changing by removing something from the experience as opposed to adding something to the experience. The issue with LGPE is there's almost nothing added that would make it worth playing to someone who's already played through Kanto before.
Yes, we can't rule things out. But it's unlikely any of the things you've said are happening. Read in between the lines on what they're doing with this game, they're trying to get casuals and GO players to buy this game and making this a faithful recreation of the original experience. When they follow those kinds of design philosophies, the resulting games tend to have destructive changes and end up underwhelming (see, linearization of every region since 5th gen, the lack of post game content since 6th gen, the removal of the Battle Frontier from ORAS, and the lack of changes in USUM). Knowing how Game Freak treats these kinds of games, what we see now is probably just about all we get. The Safari Zone is probably gone altogether because they don't think casuals can handle it, the Bike is probably gone because it's redundant (and no, Cycling Road is not there. Rt. 16-18 have been shown already and they're very different from the original games, they're just a grassy path), and the volcano area may just be visual fluff like the Power Plants in XY, and the Lighthouse and golf course in SM/USUM). There's probably not much more to this game than what we had in the original Yellow.
Also event Pokemon don't really add enough to warrant spending even $5-$10 on them. The kind of DLC I'm referring to would be more like new areas and story arcs. And if that's not Pokemon's way than Pokemon's way is the wrong way, because that's pretty much the only kind of good DLC there is.
The bottom line is this, the value just isn't there. Game Freak keeps charging full price for repetitive experiences with little to nothing to justify a double dip and it's extremely consumer unfriendly. And they do this far more than any company in the industry. All of this just shows that they don't really care, they're just trying to make a quick buck for a mediocre effort. They're becoming more and more like Nintendo's EA.
@N64SNESU You a liar cause you are a fan of this franchise otherwise you wouldn't come to this article to see the video about Jessie and James. You just can't resist them.
@Bolt_Strike
RE: Route 17 – What are you talking about? It looks exactly like it did in Gen I and Gen III. It's clearly the Bridge across the bay, raised up above the water, and has the same grass growing on it that it did back in those gens in the same amounts.
Your speculations above are just as speculative as what I put out earlier. The point is, we don't know what we're getting. We know a bit more now, but there's a lot to learn still.
@marandahir No it's not the same. The original Rt. 17 only really had one grass patch on the north side of the route, otherwise it was a series of long downhill paths full of bikers. This Rt. 17 is one winding path full of tall grass and no bike seems to be necessary. That route has definitely changed and no longer seems to be Cycling Road, it's just a normal route now.
@Bolt_Strike
Okay, I concede the grasses; just double checked and you're right. However, the map makes it clearly look like a bridge, and not a regular route. Either way, there's no evidence that the bike has been removed; just that it's another addition/change to the game's map. And that should be a positive thing to people saying "it's too samey now it sucks!"
@marandahir The fact that the player is running around in that route without a bike already means it's no longer Cycling Road, whether or not it's a bridge isn't relevant because that route's entire identity was that it was specifically a bike path.
And removing a feature from the game doesn't make it better. Usually it just makes it worse, it means less content in the game and less you're going to enjoy about the game. Change in itself isn't enough, the change needs to be constructive, it needs to add something. And there's very little about this game so far (and probably very little period) that's constructive.
