@Dom If you don't mind me asking, why over the last several weeks has the North American Nintendo Download update been posted before the European update? Is it personal preference, or something like Nintendo of Europe sending out their update later? Over the last 7 years I saw the European update was almost always up before the North American update, and I am just curious about the change.
@chucknorris078 1-2 Switch is $34.99 from the regular price of $49.99, ARMS is $41.99 from $59.99. Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle is also $41.99 from $59.99.
To see all of the sales, try going to this page. I've had trouble with it loading properly in the past, but when it works, it shows all of the sales. https://www.nintendo.com/games/sales-and-deals
@r4builder I try to go there too, but about 75% of the time I attempt to use that page, it just doesn't load any games that are on sale. I wanted to use Nintendo's regular site, but when it routinely doesn't load for me, I started to look for an alternative outside of the eShops themselves.
@r4builder A while ago, Nintendo of America got lazy and decided to not include what games go on sale in their weekly eShop update file they send out or publish.
I use this website for the sales, but the owners won't have all of the sales up at 9AM. Just a warning.
@BLD @10-zx I was referring more to the fact we don't know who is developing it, whereas we knew who Team Ninja, Next Level Games, and MercurySteam are.
@thesilverbrick That feeling is exactly how some felt in 2001 when Nintendo announced that the next Metroid game was going to be an FPS developed by a rookie studio in Texas.
I'm not saying the feeling is unwarranted, but the last time this happened, it played out well.
@JohnBlackstar If you can, find a copy of Rodea on Wii instead. The 3DS and Wii U port weren't made by his team and play radically different than the original on Wii.
The game would have been a late release on Wii to begin with, around the same time Skyward Sword came out probably, but it was delayed by its publisher so they could hire another team to make a 3DS Port, and it was delayed for so long they decided then port that 3DS version to Wii U. Prope didn't have involvement in the development of the inferior versions.
@Yasaal He left during the development of Sonic 06. He was the head of Sonic Team, the Miyamoto to SEGA, and left after 15 years of working for them. His absence was just another reason why Sonic 06 wasn't completed.
@thesilverbrick Like I said above, he left during the development of Sonic 06, leaving Sonic Team without a leader during the transition to HD, and it shows. I know he is responsible for the controls in Sonic and the Secret Rings for Wii. Also, every 3D game, including ones outside of Sonic, he is involved in seems to have camera issues. Really, it depends on what you consider bad Sonic games. If you think the Adventure games, Sonic Heroes and Shadow the Hedgehog were bad, then he was probably responsible for those decisions. Sonic Games have a 1 year development cycle more or less, and Shadow the Hedgehog was released in 2005. His lack of involvement directly hurt Sonic 06 development time to say the least.
Edit: Accidentally sent while still typing on my phone.
@Anti-Matter Nintendo added support for USB Controllers a few updates ago. If you have the proper adapter, which varies from controller to controller, you can have Gamecube Controllers working, Playstation Controllers and Xbox Controllers too. I'm sure one of those also exists for the Wiimotes, but you'd need to find and buy the proper adapter for it first.
@antdickens Excellent sendoff article, thanks for writing it.
@ThomasBW84 I'll miss you being our humble scribe, but I am happy for your new job at Circle. Don't forget to comment regularly here! (Is once per article too much to ask? )
@YummyHappyPills Normally I'd complain about the change, but considering how short the levels are, it wouldn't make a difference, you have no reason to wait to transform.
@Whopper744 They didn't add in a Super Sonic fight, just the ability to use him in any Sonic level with 50 rings and a double jump, or dedicated transform button.
If they added a Super Sonic level, the backlash wouldn't be as severe as it is now.
@ThomasBW84 I'd just like to say that I appreciate all of the work you put into the Nintendo Downloads every week. As an American, I am disappointed that NoA doesn't give you the information any longer on Discounts in their Press Releases. NL is my primary source for Nintendo News, and I always liked being able to look through the list you typed out for any sales that interest me.
Just looking through the European Sales, it made me boot back up the eShop to see if we had any of the Just for You rewards. Unfortunately, I was unable to find them.
Thank you for doing these sometimes long Nintendo Updates, and the format that you do them in. I also enjoy the little blurbs you create under every new title.
@Damo Thanks in advance for any reply you would have made. I found the update patch in the eShop. Nintendo could have definitely done a better job of advertising it on the eShop.
@Damo Can you confirm if there is a way to buy the DLC on the 3DS Version? I'm not very far into the story, so maybe the DLC shop hasn't appeared yet, but the NA 3DS eShop doesn't even have a DLC tag that most games with DLC have on their product page.
@TheGreenMiner13 For story purposes, you will have to play as Male Robin, and Female Corrin. However, outside of that, you should be able to choose, because both Female Robin and Male Corrin are confirmed.
@tamantayoshi Shortly after the game was announced, they said they would be focusing on Shadow Dragon, Awakening, and Fates. I suspect they will release characters like Alm, Cecila and Roy as DLC, like they did with Hyrule Warriors.
@Fooligan They actually tried to replace Ash in the cartoon. Had a test episode made and everything. I don't know if bigger mistakes have been made, but needless to say, it didn't go well, and Ash was the main character again.
@Mr_Zurkon Hyrule Warriors Legends didn't run well on the original 3DS, but played fine on the New Nintendo 3DS. Its not a surprise to me that they dropped the original 3DS support.
@Damo Oh come on! That sprite was a richer blue for our Blue Blur, and had a grin permanently etched on his face.
I'm the opposite of you, I was exposed to all three (& Knuckles) at about the game time, and I liked the Sonic 3 Sprite more because of the extra detail.
@Alikan I haven't played Half Genie Hero, but I've played other entries in Shantae. Platforming wise, you'll be fine, Metroidvania wise, you may need to consult the occasional walkthrough if you really get lost, but the game is definitely beatable without using one.
@ThomasBW84 Thank you, for posting all of that Fire Emblem information. It seemed like it would never end. I just wanted to let you know we appreciate it.
@faint Nintendo is selling sets of Grey, Blue and Red Joycons. They also are selling a Red Left Joy Con and a Blue Right Joycon, for people who bought the Red/Blue Switch Bundle, and want to have a complete set.
@ThomasBW84 Holding my mouse over the image of the right blue joycon and having a message appear that says Left-Joy-Con.jpg made me laugh. Thanks.

@rjejr You are right about Radiant Historia, the retail version even costs 39.99 on Amazon.
Re: Nintendo Download: 1st February (Europe)
@RichFG If you hold off on Sonic Mania for several more months, you'll probably be able to get it during a summer sale, or Sonic Birthday Sale.
