@DragotheKomodo If you don't mind me asking, what do you think it is about the game that is making you smile every time you jump into it? Genuinely curious, from someone who is hoping this game still turns out to be enjoyable at the end.
@BloodNinja "Is this just an announcement, or are there other details? Does it use a cable, at all? Release date? Where to order?
NINJA APPROVED"
This was an announcement, other details can be found on the 8BitDo website, such as Ultimate Software support on a new mobile app. On their website, it states that the controller has wired support. I read that you have bought previous 8BitDo products, so, the included cable is probably going to be the same length as the last few releases they've put out. The release date is April 12th, and is currently open for pre-orders on Amazon.
@Jackpaza0508 Most Dragon Ball names are puns. Trunks' family members are typically named after clothing. Meanwhile, the Saiyans are named after vegetables. You have the prince of all Vegetables, Vegeta, the guy in the carrot orange gi who goes by Goku, named Kakarot, a really tall, sometimes broccoli green haired guy named Broly. The series has strange names, it has since the manga started in the 1980's.
For those wondering about Mario's age from RandomAfricanGamer's post, here's an article from 2016, referencing a Miyamoto interview from 2005 on the matter.
@Jakiboy I thought about it, but considering it's the same voice used between the Japanese and English copies of Sonic CD, releasing in Japan first, I didn't think it should count for considering Sonic English VAs, especially since the Japanese cast hasn't changed since Sonic Adventure iirc.
@Jakiboy This new one will be the 4th English VA for Sonic since Adventure, not counting the actor in the movie. If we count that Sonic, along with the 90s Sonic Cartoons, and the OVA, then it's up to 7 English Voice Actors for Sonic over almost 30 years.
Huh, wonder how Nintendo might port Phantom Hourglass to Switch. I definitely wasn't expecting to hear Phantom Hourglass might be rereleased anytime soon.
@Gerald @Mountain_Man Pwned originated in the 1994 game Warcraft, where enemies would say something like "You got owned!" when they beat you. Instead, someone hit the P key instead of O, and Pwned was introduced into the world.
@Silly_G I'm not an audiophile either, so I can't explain it in the proper terms, but essentially, they cut all of the higher ranges out of the songs. Comparing the audio samples of the songs, the originals, at high quality to the ones in Smash Ultimate, the upper ranges of the songs were removed entirely. In space where there was data in the original songs, it just no longer exists.
@Doofenshmirtz There isn't any official comment on Pollock (Eggman's English VA since Sonic X) leaving, but he did put up these tweets, confirming nothing and leaving everything to be read between the lines. https://twitter.com/itsamike/status/1356254087793299456
@Shadowmoon522 Thanks for the link, I'm familiar with both this story and the Tharja Trophy in Smash 3DS being leaked. Was just curious if they knew of a story that I missed.
@Noid Fair point, I was referring to Classic Sonic from Generations onwards, when he has been referred to as Classic Sonic, but didn't make that clear.
@Liam_Doolan You're right, Sonic Generations was his second main series Sonic game, Colors being the first. Thanks for changing it, it was something minor, yet just felt off.
@Liam_Doolan If you made the top picture, why did you put a picture of Classic Sonic next to RCS? Classic Sonic hasn't talked in any of the games he's appeared in, and it just seems a bit odd, considering he voiced Modern and Boom Sonic.
@torne Oh yeah, totally. I kept on wondering if we would see some key features of Mushroom Hill Zone in the movie, other than the mushrooms. Similar to all of the love they poured into Green Hill Zone.
@DremrDrone You will be able to redownload the game, but if you got a new Switch and wanted to make a new account, you couldn't buy it on that new account.
@spoondriver While there are many core problems with Sonic Adventure that can't be fixed, the Steam port of Sonic Adventure DX is actually the worst version of the game to play, unless you mod it. I'm not saying it fixes everything wrong with the game, but it certainly helps to make the experience more enjoyable.
@Tyranexx Surely. In order to speak to someone at Conspiracy University (CU) about this issue, first you must prove that such an office exists, and it's not just a conspiracy. CU is strict on privacy, and has rigorous policies. The current rumor has it that you must create and defend your own conspiracy theory in order to graduate. If it is disproven, well tough luck.
@Damo It's one of those games I've been wanting to play since... haha, pretty sure it was in 2010, maybe 2011. I wouldn't have put it beyond Capcom to develop a game titled Street Fighter 2020, but I did a double take when I saw the game title.
@Anvold On question 6, it does require you to know which consoles released in Indigo and Jet Black. I had a problem with that one too, because I wasn't sure what the official names were for the N64 colors, and it had many variants. However, Indigo is that famous GameCube purple.
As for question 9, it helps if you know who Howard Lincoln is from Nintendo History. Since the console design was changed in North America, not Japan, it's unlikely to be the two Japanese names, and it would have been strange for Lincoln to redesign the SNES himself, since his job was closer to Reggie's. I honestly guessed on that one, through a shaky process of elimination.
Considering how the Steam Controllers are no longer being made or sold by Valve, I'm sort of sad to see one gutted for a different project. Hopefully those patents for a new Steam Controller come to fruition at some point.
As an Outrun fan, this game is definitely a way to scratch the itch for a new Outrun game, but it does so in it's own way. Plus I found once you got into a groove with the races, you could get first place in basically every one first try. That's not to say the game doesn't have challenge, but once I beat it, I found I couldn't bring myself to go back to replay any tracks, or to start a new profile.
@RupeeClock Adding on to what you've said, Sega hasn't officially rereleased Sonic 3 & Knuckles since 2011's Steam Port, and in recent years, Sonic & Knuckles has also stopped being included in releases.
Another interesting tidbit is that Carnival Night, Ice Cap, and Launch Base Zones all had different music in the PC release of the Sonic & Knuckles Collection. This has become much more notable in the last few months because a Beta of Sonic 3 was found with a date just a few months before release, with the PC Collection Music for those 3 Zones. It was speculated that this was changed because of Jackson for the PC Release, but the Beta turns that theory on it's head and instead suggests that these were the original songs Sega made before Jackson's Involvement. It certainly has raised more questions than the community has answers for at the moment.
@dartmonkey, Why did this list change from initial publication? Attached is an image showing a list of the games in text form that I read on New Year's Day, and the list is not the same 24 hours later. It's confusing to readers to say the least.
@Asaki @Itsacardgame The game was designed with the Circle Pad Pro in mind for left handed gamers. They would use the right analog stick as a proper analog stick, so those who are left handed could use the stylus in their left hand. It works in the game, not for dual analog.
This functionality was never intended for the C Stick on the New 3DS/2DS models, and as such, doesn't work as well as the Circle Pad Pro did for it's intended purpose.
Sakurai also said in an interview that he and his team did not learn about the Circle Pad Pro until development was almost complete on Uprising. That's why the Circle Pad Pro functions the same as the option to play with ABXY as analog control. As soon as Uprising was completed, Sakurai went back to work on the Smash franchise, disbanding the development team. It's why the game never received updates.
@USWITCH64 Good luck! N64 games have gone up in price as the generation who grew up on them is becoming nostalgic and wanting to revisit games from their past. A boxed copy of DK64 might be a tad expensive.
@Tedikuma Retro-Bit has a bad track record of releasing controllers on time. They are probably still being fine tuned, or just holding off on releasing them until later.
@XAHydra Since 2011 when Sonic 3 & Knuckles was last ported anywhere, to Steam, Sega has stopped rereleasing this game. It's since been revealed that Michael Jackson actually did work on the soundtrack, like it had been rumored for years, with evidence proving the similarities between songs in the game, and songs Jackson released.

Jackson and his team worked on them. With the exception of Zones 4-6, in Sonic 3 & Knuckles, all of the aforementioned music is changed, when the two cartridges lock together. This is because it pulls the music from the bottom cart, but why make the changes unless they needed to, especially when Sonic 3 and Sonic & Knuckles were supposed to be the same game originally, just split into two parts due to a marketing deal with McDonalds that couldn't be pushed back and additional time to finish the game.
Sega is avoiding rereleasing the game now to avoid legal trouble with the Jackson Estate. It sucks. I recommend checking out Sonic 3 Complete and Sonic 3 A.I.R. . Both games will fill your Sonic 3 fix, with A.I.R. eventually coming to mobile, but not consoles.
