Crypt of the necrodancer for $4 a̶̶n̶̶d̶ ̶s̶̶t̶̶a̶̶r̶̶l̶̶i̶̶n̶̶k̶ ̶d̶̶e̶̶l̶̶u̶̶x̶̶e̶ ̶f̶̶o̶̶r̶ ̶$̶̶4̶̶0̶̶ is a steal!
Edit:
As mentioned here, the starlink deal is actually pretty bad.
Skyrim was on my wish list for a long time, so this sale convinced me to finally pull the trigger. Picked up Wargroove as well.
Crypt of the necrodancer this cheap saves me from buying Cadence of Hyrule. Weird timing on this, but works out for me.
Yea i bought Cuphead and Final Fantasy 7 and 9 yesterday as soon as they went on sell. I always suggest if you have a backlog or something else to keep you entertained to put digital games on your wishlist. And wait for a sell or physical release.
My credit card took a bit of a hit last night
I would have to disagree with you on the digital Starlink Deluxe Edition @Kalmaro. You can buy it physically on Amazon with all the cool Star Fox toys/figurines for $29.99. Pluss Amazon itself sells it for $24.99 from time to time which Best Buy will Match.
Way to go @dartmonkey it's about time someone got the Canadian prices right. Instead of showing them as the same price as the U.S.
Picked up Shantae, Unravel 2 and 2K19... can’t wait to play my new acquisitions!
This is exactly why I hate biweekly jobs
I don't get paid till next week when the sale is off.
Europe has the same sale, by the way. Some titles might be different, but as far as I can see and remember, same deal for Europe as well.
Noticed this last night already on my Switch (in the Netherlands, by the way)
Hmmm may have to get me a game or two this week. Still surprised so many games still sell at full price
Unravel 2 & Necrodancer for me!
Hollow Knight and Rabbids Gold are also great deals, but I already have those.
Tons of deals that's I'd partake in but mana collection, cadence of hyrule got me spending too much already. Plus i have mm2 and bloodstained preordered. I think my June is done for 😋
Thinking about War Groove, but I just bought War Theatre for 99c and only played it once.
Funny how stand alone XC2: Torna is on sale for $26 but the season pass is still $30. Only Nintendo could do something that blatantly stupid looking. I'm sure they have their reasons, but it looks stupid. (Finally starting XC2 next week so I've been on the lookout.)
Doom, Skyrim, or Wolfenstein? Been waiting for the sale on all 3.
Really cool that Canadian prices are now shown here. I appreciate that A LOT.
Now that being said, I've been waiting some time for a sale on DOOM to bring it in line with the REGULAR PRICE paid everywhere else, but even with a %50 sale on Switch, it is still almost double the price I'd be paying if buying elsewhere at REGULAR price.
Now, I can get that it can be more expensive on Switch, for some reasons. But when regular price is almost 400% the price found on other platforms, and even sale price near 200%, the idea of buying the game only provides me with images of myself throwing money out the window. I have a hard time justifying paying a game 200% more when ON SALE!!!
Same with Skyrim. Or Wolfenstein.
Sometimes, the Nintendo Switch Tax isn't that heavy, and still "acceptable", but there are cases (like these) where it's just completely insane.
Nintendos deals always leave much to be desired compared to Sony and Steam.
@BacklogBlues Really now? In that case, I stand corrected. Post edited then.
You're not wrong @Kalmaro if you prefer digital. I just preferred this a little cheaper physically so i could display Star Fox and his ship in my man cave.
Really good sales. Picked up NBA 2K19 for less than $5.
@BacklogBlues A sale is a sale. I prefer digital but for an almost $20 difference, I'd get physical.
Holy cow, this is a good one. I let my son have our shared copy of Super Mario Odyssey, and this most definitely tempts me to get my own copy. Without a doubt, though, will be picking up Cuphead. For some reason, have made myself hold out for a sale, even if it is only $3.
@Mfreddy22 I am debating on the same thing. Doom or Wolfenstein 2.... I already preordered the new Wolfenstein and I plan to get Doom Eternal. Both have great reviews too so it's a tricky decision. Plus I do know that Doom online aspect on the Switch is pretty much dead if that's a factor.
I did pick up Hallow and Cuphead already though.
@Realnoize Those games on other platforms are much older. That and games on Nintendo systems take forever to go down in price, particularly first party titles
I was really hoping the Ace Attorney trilogy sale would be a bit better for the Switch. Though its a nice price on the 3DS. That NBA2K19 price is too good to pass up
@Kalmaro @BacklogBlues
I’m thought the digital deluxe came with all of the DLC ships and weapons whereas the physical only comes with subset. So if you want all the ships and weapons, it may still be cheaper to get the digital deluxe on this sale; I haven’t fully done the math on physical + buying the extra ships/weapons.
@Remerkin I'm kinda confused on how it all works still
Probably going for Hollow Knight, Necrodancer, and Mario Rabbids. That’s cheap af. Nice how they’re showing CAD prices, thank you!
they discount smash 3ds and yet the dlc still full price.
@whanvee
Those games were released before the Switch port, sure. But they're the same games. The games on those other systems aren't "older games". They're the same game. Just released before. If I'd be buying Doom on PC, I'd be playing the same game as if I'd buy it on the Switch. I would just pay much, much, much more money for it. Which makes me feel like buying this, even on sale, is the worst deal ever.
The original Doom, Doom II or Doom 3, are "older games". This is the same game as other versions. It's not a Deluxe version, not a collector's edition with some bundled extras or DLC... it's the same thing.
Also, a port usually cost only a fraction of what the original relase cost, as all the assets were already made, and some code usually carry over as well (not all, of course).
I can understand to some point the justification for a higher price, (it is new on that platform, after all) but not something of this magnitude. We're talking here about near 400%. And "just" 200% the price when "on sale".
For exclusive games, I can't really argue. For instance, Nintendo is Nintendo, and their games are only available on their platform. Fine, I can live with that. But any game available elsewhere should take that into account. Not saying to match price, but at least not overcharge a stupid amount of extra money for no reason other than it being on Switch. That "it's new on Switch" mentality doesn't make sense to justify a doubled or even quadrupled the price.
If people are fine with paying this extra money, fine. It's their thing. But it also contributes to the idea that Switch customers don't mind paying more, and some companies know this too well and will continue to capitalize on it.
@sebmeisnerwl
Mario Rabbids has been way cheaper than this. I bought my copy (Physical Gold edition (ALL DLC) + Rabbid Statue) at Walmart for like $29 (CDN).
Still a good deal compared to full price though.
That game is awesome.
I think I am getting the Bethesda shooters to prepare for young blood. Already blew 100USD yesterday.
I'll likely get Celeste for that price. Been wanting to play it for a while.
@UmbreonsPapa Give it time, Capcom will eventually have the PW Trilogy at 50% off, and eventually 67% off. Might take a year or two before sales reach that level though.
Thank you for including the Canadian prices, it is greatly appreciated.
@liljmoore
Greetings from Getting Paid Only at the End of the Month-land. You can't budget for sudden, unannounced savings.
I picked up Unravel Two and love it. It's visually lovely, the controls are tight and the puzzles are rather elegant, imho.
I really needed a lower-key game to give poor Link a break from my killing him so much in BoTW.
Gonna get Hallow Knight. Looking for a good Metroidvania.
You better off just getting Starlink Physical for $30 and the Starfox DLC for $11. StarFox Content is the star of the show (didn't use any other ship or pilot)
WALMART has Dark Souls Physical for $25.
AMAZON has Fire Emblem Warrior for $22
@Wanjia thanks, I think I'm just going to give it a pass.
Conundrum: I want some of these games, but my backlog is already so long.
I bought Tales of Vesperia digitally on this sale! Been wanting to play this for the first time for a while now so couldn't pass up this opportunity.
I bought dark soul full price two days ago
I happy I got Cuphead on sale.
@kepsux Personally I really didn't like Crypt of the Necrodancer art style, but once they added the zelda touch to it I was in. I'd much rather play the zelda version for more than the original personally.
@Nintendofan83 Yeah I couldn't resist NBA2k19 for 2.99 i think it was. I don't even like NBA, but a good looking basketball game for that cheap was nice (though it is absolutely huge chunk on my 128 gb micro usb card)
Well they got 200 out of me...lol.
@dartmonkey Whoa, my biggest thank you for including Canadian pricing. 😺👍
I'm trying so hard to resist all until more of my backlog is cleared out. Several of these I already have anyway, like Mega Man, Wolfy 2 and TSA:NMH.
Necrodancer is very tempting, but I'd rather just play Cadence at this point.
@Ryu_Niiyama Think of it this way: Your wallet will look slim, fit, and ready for summer. Also, despite Nintendo discounts not always being as much savings as they could be, consider that you've saved some money, compared to if your purchases had been full price.
@Franz Eventually some, or even all of these, will go on sale again. If you're patient enough, and willing to wait it out, you might be able to snag them for even cheaper.
@Everyone_Else I'm tempted to pick up Shantae & The Pirate's Curse. It's the same full/regular price as the vanilla 1/2-GH, but I can eventually get 1/2-GH physically, with all dlc. To my knowledge, Pirate's Curse is not available physically.
Thanks for the reminder. Ran over to my supermarket to pickup a $100 Amazon gift card to get a $15 food shopping gift card. Bought eShop credit on Amazon., then Torna for $26 and SMM2 bundle with NO for $70.
Tax is annoying, had to use 221 gold coins on SMM2 after using 251 on XC2.
@Capt_N Then my wallet is going to have an eating disorder by the end of the year. This year is going to be very, very expensive.
@rjejr set your zipcode to Delaware.
@Ryu_Niiyama Thanks, but is that 1 of those things where I have to worry about all of my funds being removed, or is that only if you change regions/countries?
This whole purchase was freaking me out enough as it is. After 10+ years of PS3 ownership and 4 of PS4 I'm used to buying and downloading everything to my account then everyone in the house uses it on their accounts. I'm not a criminal sharing it w/ the world, just my teens. So for this I'm like, OK, which kid is getting SMM2 to use online. I know we can't share the NO (so many no's with NO, it's an apt name) but what about the gaem? And what about the season pass code I got with Torna TGC for XC2 amin game? I bought the game on my account but used the code on my sons account b/c he's playing it, not me. But I shoudln't have to be worrying about this stuff. We have 1 Switch, we only use 1 Switch, all 3 of our accounts are on 1 Switch, if I buy stuff on that 1 Switch peopel on that 1 Switch should be able to use it regardless of what account I bought it on. I'm over NO, it's a screw-up top to bottom as far as I'm concerned, but I shouldn't be so nervous about DLC and playing games if I buy them digitally.
Sooooo, long story short, changing my location to Delaware now isn't worth the slim possibility that a digital game or the DLC or season pass could go away. NOT worth it, even for the 9% tax I have to pay. When my kid goes away to college next year maybe I'll have him change his on his new Switch, not NEW Switch, whatever state he attends college in. Though after what I'm guessing will be a near fatal heart attack moving his account games and saves form my Switch to his maybe I'll just leave it NY.
Moment of truth, time to go test out the season pass DLC and who can play digital Torna. At least digital Torna is a the whole $40 separate game purchase so we dont' need the XC2 game disc in. I don't think. Always something stupid w/ Nitnendo to worry about. Best go find out, less stressful anticipation.
