Drinkbox Studios has revealed that Guacamelee! 2 will be bringing its sassy adventure to Switch on 10th December. To make your purchasing decision easier, the game is currently benefitting from multiple discount offers.
We first heard that Guacamelee! 2 would be hitting Switch when Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition stealth-launched on Nintendo's machine a couple of months ago. The date has now been firmly set, however, and those who already own Guacamelee! STCE on Switch can get 30% off Guacamelee! 2 for a limited time. If you have the first game and know that you'll be interested in the second, we'd urge you to snap up this offer while you can.
If you don't already own STCE but want to get in on that tasty discount action, fear not! Everyone else can still snag a 10% discount when buying the game before 17th December (taking the asking price down from £17.99 to £16.19).
If you're not clued up on the Metroidvania-style gameplay of the Guacamelee games, here's the full feature list for this latest Switch title:
- Drop-in 4-player local co-op for you and your best amigos!
- New upgrade system: discover “trainers” around the world to learn new skill sets for movement, combat, and more!
- All new areas. Explore from the Mangrove Swamp to Hell itself!
- Double the enemy types of the original, and a roster of eccentric new bosses!
- Electro-Mexican soundtrack, and more gorgeous visuals thanks to a fancy new rendering engine!
- Definitely no secret society of chickens that teaches you ancient chicken abilities!
Are you a Guacamelee fan? Will you be pre-ordering your copy with as much extravagant Mexican flair as your body can handle? Tell us below.

Can't wait!! The first was my favorite Wii U game. This looks even better!
First game was so much fun, still haven't got around to the sequel yet but glad it's finally coming to the switch. The discount is a nice touch as well!
how abt i just dun buy it, and I save 100%?
Finished first one yesterday, really liked it! Looking forward to playing 2.
@kokjopan Why even comment like that??
The 30% discount probably doesn't count if you own the Wii U copy, does it? (one can dream)
"own Guacamelee! STCE can get 30% off Guacamelee! 2"
I own it on Wii U, does that count?
Any mention of the 2 upcoming DLC? Asking for a friend @Gamer83

@rjejr Highly unlikely the Wii U Purchase will count towards the Switch Discount.
Loved the first game. After I heard it was announced for Switch, I stopped waiting for a PS4 deal on it. I just wanna play it on the go!
This was seriously the tipping point for me rebuying a PS4 (if it was a matter of when rather than if). I don’t even like Metroid but this game is fantastic. Can’t wait to play again, hope the DLC comes soon.
Soooo getting this day 1.
@Knuckles I'm fairly certain it won't, I was more commenting on the wording in the article which made no mention of it having to be the Switch version. That might be understood, but when writing an article why go for "understood" when you can go for "clarity" instead?
I own it on WiiU but I seriously doubt that will qualify for a discount. No matter though, if the sequel is half as good as the first one it will be well worth full price.
I took a punt on the first game when it was first released on the PS3 PSN and was so glad I did. What a fantastic gem of a game. I am so pleased the sequel is being released on Switch. Although I would love a physical release.
Poor guys car
Yes! ok time to double dip on the first one!
Another game I should have waited to buy on Switch.
From what I heard the devs behind Bleed 2 are working on the game, and I love that one to death. I'll likely get this next month! I have complete confidance in this from what I've seen and heard.
I love Guacamelee, so I'll DL this one for sure!
Seeing lots of love for this game. It's been on my radar for a bit now but I'm hoping they'll drop guacamelee 1 in price when 2 launches. Ill grab it right away then.
@danmonse @rjejr Sorry folks, you have to have it on Switch for the discount to work, yep!
@ryancraddock thanks for clarifying!
Only one reference & not even an Internet-related one. This can't possibly be made by the developers of the first game.
@AstralOrange64
It is!
I've got it on PS4 but having it on mobile is very tempting....
@ryancraddock Thanks for the reply and especially the edit, very nice.
Guess I'll wait for the PS4 sale, probably be on PS+ next month. 😂
First one was fun on Wii U.
I’m up for the sequel.
But smash will Be Out....
I’m up for waiting till a sale for the sequel.
I love this series! Already bought the first game on Switch so I'm all set for the discount.
Glad it's not a PS4 exclusive anymore, but they should do the 30% to Wii U owners too. Come on, there must be a way to check if you have it on the good old system...
REALLY hoping for a physical collection.
Awesome!
I owned it on PS3/Vita but never finished it. I just double dipped on GM1 on Switch since the sequel was revealed for Switch as well. A 30% discount is just icing on the cake!
Gucamelee 1 is probably my favorite indie game ever. So glad that the sequel coming to Switch now and with a 10-30% discount? Sweet.
@Spoony_Tech it was really that good huh? At $15 it should be considered a steal then. As soon as I finish the 3 games im working on for switch ill pick it up.
Side note, what is so great about It? Im not being sarcastic im genuinely wondering as ive never played a guacamelee game.
I loved the first, but found I was feeling pretty finished with it as I completed it, does the sequel freshen the experience up enough to make it worth q playthrough?
@nintendobynature Well it did a really good job with the Metroidvaina style gameplay. It was more action focused with a good and sometimes funny story.
Think Metroid with pro wrestling moves and beat-um up action.
@Spoony_Tech awesome thank you. Definitely sounds like a game id enjoy!
Shame, I have it on the Playstation 3, but I don't want to double dip to get it on the Switch. Maybe a collection on physical down the line? Delegated to the wishlist for now.
