Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (January 7th)

Kirbyo

I just beat Celeste (recommend it highly), so right now I think I'm gonna mainly focus on Dicey Dungeons (and they do get dicey indeed, survived a boss fight with like 3 hp). Might throw in some Downwell if I have the time. Also, I've been playing Human Fall Flat with my dad and mainly my brother, and I think "hilarious suffering" defines the game perfectly.

Re: Feature: Nintendo's Year In Review - Our Team Chats Big Switch Games, Butt Discourse, And Sakurai's Cat

Kirbyo

So this year was... a year. I played the first ever 3D Kirby game and Kirby's Dream Buffet, beat Paper Mario (among other Mario RPGs), ignored everything with a 3 in it, and re-learned that I don't like Pokemon games with Pokemon X. And don't even get me started on all the indies! To give only two highlights, It Takes Two has been fun to play with my mom so far (and I will continue to play it into the new year), and Downwell might be the first rougelike that I actually (rouge)like. Well, see you next year!

Re: Best Nintendo Switch Games Of 2022

Kirbyo

Kirby and the Forgotten Land is in fourth. Well, when you consider the fact that the two big JRPGs (which I'm pretty sure were the only two games this year that got 10/10) were obviously going to make the top two, that's pretty good! Wasn't expecting the Portal Collection to make third, but ok! Haven't played it, as I have the games on PC. but still pretty cool.
Edit: Wait, now Kirby is at third? Only being behind the RPGs? PERFECTION

Re: Mini Review: Resident Evil 7 Biohazard Cloud - Pretty Horrific

Kirbyo

@nessisonett When you say "instead of saying the exact same thing across many reviews," are you talking about the cloud gaming quality or the actual content of the game itself? Cloud quality is different across games, and a quick summary is always appreciated for those not in the know, so either way, I think it's a good idea to say " the exact same thing across many reviews," just to make sure everyone's on board. Also...
@Olliemar28 Oh god.

Re: Nintendo's Critically Acclaimed Partner eShop Sale Ends Soon, Up To 86% Off (US)

Kirbyo

So in the end, I didn't spend $14, but $5, which was spent on Celeste. I got Downwell and Dicey Dungeons for free using gold points, and the other games I didn't get. That's $5 spent on what would otherwise be $38 total, which is a total discount of... 87% off! Nice! Fun fact: if I had gotten the $2 games with money instead of gold points, the discount would be 76% off instead, which is still pretty good! I would say this sale was a success! Well done me!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 17th)

Kirbyo

Midterms are in literally four days, so I'm going to be studying for the most part. In my free time, I'll probably play a few rounds of Downwell, which is probably the first rougelike/lite (what's the difference?) I'm actually enjoying... which makes me even more excited to try out Dicey Dungeons during winter break! As well, I am of course going to continue to play through It Takes Two with my mom, as the game continues to show why it won game of the year in 2021.

Re: No Gravity Games Is Handing Out 12 Free Switch Games This Month (North America)

Kirbyo

Well, looks like the giveaway is over for me! Can't get Golden Force as it's 18+ apparently, and besides, Creepy Tale 2 looks like Creepy Tale except somewhat higher quality, and I hate horror games anyways! So, my review of all the games in the giveaway (except Golden Force and Creepy Tale 2):
Exorder: Least favorite of the bunch, by far. I just don't like that type of game. Archived it to make way for the games from that other big sale which has actually quality games.
Graviter: Liked it a bit. The story I like, as it has a cat (foreshadowing), and the puzzles are ok. Don't like the fact that they integrated in app purchases.
Creepy Tale: Was fine at first. The story was ok and the puzzles fun. Then the game broke after I failed a chase sequence, and I'm never going back.
Destropolis: Already had before giveaway (still really good though!)
Supersonic Tank Cats: Has a cool artstyle for the 2D graphics, but the 3D bits (aka what your actually playing in) look kinda meh. Would work better as a cartoon than a game, but then again, its Mario Kart. With cats. That have tanks on their backs. Instant 10/10 (though to be serious, it's more so a 5/10).
Strike Force Kitty: Looks like it'd be a ton of fun... if I hadn't just finished Bowser Jr.'s Journey a month ago, which isn't the same thing but kinda is, and I could already feel the grindy rage coming back up. Got past the first boss, then called it quits. Gotta give it credit for having cats, though.
Powertris: I suck at regular Tetris, so this game is a nightmare! Hard pass.
Star Horizon: Already had before giveaway (and I don't like it, like any other Star Fox-like)
Pool Pro Gold: Didn't even play it. Going to see if my brother will, though.
Nova-111: Already had before giveaway (it's pretty good, just haven't had time to play it a lot)
So yeah, no hits this time. Ah well, there's always the next giveaway!

Re: Poll: Rate Your Favourite Switch Games Of The Year 2022

Kirbyo

My GOTY is Kirby and the Forgotten Land, but the majority of the games I played this year are between an 8 and a 10, including Cuphead: the Delicious Last Course and The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe. Would rate It Takes Two, but I'm only up to chapter three, so I'll wait till I beat the game. Can't wait for next year and Kirby's Return to Dreamland Deluxe!

Re: You Can Get Your 'Year In Review' Nintendo Switch Stats Now For 2022

Kirbyo

Ok, so according to the review, my top five most played games are:
1. Pokémon Legends Arceus (53 hours)
2. Kirby and the Forgotten Land (41 hours)
3. Super Mario Maker 2 (40 hours)
4. Nintendo 64 - Nintendo Switch Online (40 hours)
5. Will You Snail? (15 hours)
Honestly not that bad! Top two are no surprise, and Mario Maker 2 was kinda my comfort food at the beginning of the school year, so that also makes sense. As for why my number 5 has only 15 hours in it, well not much came out for switch that I really wanted to play, and all the stuff I did get and play (the Toree games, Turnip Boy, The Stanley Parable Ultra Deluxe) were quite short. Also, I spent the majority of November and December playing Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story and Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam on the 3DS, and the results don't take into account all the Dicey Dungeons and Celeste I'm about to play. Honorable mention goes to Cuphead, which only got 14 hours, but I spent those 14 hours playing the DLC with my dad, which makes them some pretty special 14 hours!

Re: Feature: 30 More Things You Might Have Missed In Pokémon Scarlet & Violet

Kirbyo

@KateGray Great! Now as for the actual things mentioned in the article... Toedscool's run is the most hilarious thing I've ever seen. The more practical features seem really useful. I still don't think I'm gonna get the games, though. I tried Pokemon X recently, and I fell out pretty quickly. Still cool to see all the things the developers put into Scarlet and Violet!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 10th)

Kirbyo

My plans are simple: my dad and brother are planning on beating the entirety of It Takes Two, and I haven't beaten it yet, so I'm gonna be dodging spoilers like Neo dodging bullets! Since I can't play any of the games I'm gonna (eventually) get from the sale due to a lack of Switch storage space, I'm most likely going to replay a game. Right now I'm debating between Rayman Legends and Captain Toad. Probably going to go with the earlier, as I don't want to play the latter until I get more storage space to download the DLC. While my dad and brother play It Takes Two, I might hop back into Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, as I've lost all my will to play Pokemon X, and Paper Jam is my comfort food as midterms are only a week away (They're already only a week away? HOW?).

Re: Deals: My Nintendo Store US Offers Up To 86% Discounts In Critically Acclaimed Partner Sale

Kirbyo

Recommendations: Now's the time to get Hollow Knight and Bastion if you haven't already. Both are incredible games, and Bastion for $3 is an absolute steal. Also, you're getting 50% off a $15 game that will give you 10's if not 100's of hours of gameplay (referencing Hollow Knight here)! What's not to love!
Purchases (aka what I'm gonna get (maybe)): Ok, with a budget of $10, what can I get? First off Celeste. That's an easy $5. Also, Dicey Dungeons is $2, so might as well! That brings it up to $7. What else? Might as well get Downwell, seems fun. Now I'm at $9. What to spend the last dollar on... hmmm... any new Toree games come out? Nope. If I bump it up to $14 I could get What Remains of Edith Finch. It did get a 9/10 and I'm always up for a good story... yea, I'll do that. Great! Now to ask my dad for $14 so I can get all these games for Ha- oh, the sale lasts until the 18th. And I don't want to spend my own money... oh wait it's only $14. Sold! Not gonna play them right now, as I don't have enough time or storage space, but I do want to play them eventually, so might as well get them now!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (December 3rd)

Kirbyo

A bit late on this one, but for good reason. I've had the problem of "too many games I want to play and beat," but also if I don't focus on one thing at a time, my attention tends to stray, so I've come up with a system: three frontlogs for first-time playthroughs, three backlogs for replays, a multilog for games I'm playing co-op, and an emerlog (emergency log) for newly released games that I have to binge to avoid spoilers (which luckily isn't often). For now, my frontlogs are taken up by RPG Time: The Legend of Wright (which I still have yet to make progress on) and Pokémon X. The third one is empty, but I think it shall soon be filled by Mario & Luigi: Dream Team. The Backlogs consist of Cat Quest, Rayman Legends: Definitive Edition, and Captain Toad. I was thinking Paper Mario: The Origami King, but then Rayman would be the only non-RPG out of all six single-player logs, which I find ridiculous for someone who used to hate RPGs. As for the multilog, I'm playing It Takes Two with my mom after I got the game for Black Friday (it has been really fun so far). Also, no game in the emerlog (at least until February). So to recap, this is how the logs look so far:
frontlog 1: Rpg Time
frontlog 2: pokemon x
frontlog 3: empty
backlog 1: cat quest
backlog 2: rayman ledgends
backlog 3: captian toad treasure tracker
multilog: It Takes Two
emerlog: empty

Also I just realized a great name for it would be "the tree". I'm calling it that from now on!

Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (November 26th)

Kirbyo

Finally finished Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam Friday night. as for what I'll play this week, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet came out, so I'm on Pokemon fever, but instead of getting the new games, I'll hold out for a sale and play Pokemon X instead! I usually just play one game at a time, but I've been meaning to get to RPG Time: The Legend of Wright forever now, so I'll play that simultaneously. I also got It Takes Two as my Black Friday game, and I'll be playing that one with my dad.

Re: Feature: The Top 15 Legend Of Zelda Dungeons Of All Time, Ranked

Kirbyo

The Face Temple from Link's Awakening is my pick. Yes, I think I had to look something up (which I try not to do nowadays), but that music, combined with the looks and the fact that (I think) it's the first dungeon you do after the big plot twist, it's just magnificent. Eagle Tower from the same game gets a special shoutout because of Anti-Kirby.
