Getting some Toree 3D vibes from this one, not because of the gameplay (though both are 3D platformers), but because in both that case and this case, a really crummy (or for Sonic Frontiers, really all-over-the-place) game just came out, and then a much cheaper and much better game came out immediately after.
I like the gold edition simply because it feels like it captures what Punch Out is, presenting a character in its actual art style rather than just showing the final boss punching someone to smithereens.
I am going to continue to play Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam, and yes, I said Paper Jam. Honestly isn't so bad! Having to control three characters at once is interesting, and the Battle Cards system is (in my opinion) better than the badge system in Bowser's Inside Story.
At first I was like, "of course you'd use the game code to render the in-game effects, that's just common sense!" Then I read the article. They didn't use the game code to render in-game effects. They rendered the game code as an in-game effect. That's the coolest thing I've ever seen! I'm definitely becoming a programmer now!
No spoilers, but I watched a livestream of the game, and I think I have a new second-favorite Pokémon (Falinks will always be my favorite). Also that ending was bonkers. Like, Kirby mini-boss levels of bonkers.
I have too much on my backlog as is (and when KRtDD comes out I've gotta stop everything and play it to 100%), and I've never been a big fan of Sonic, so I'll probably skip this one. I will say, a 4/10 is a bit surprising, but then again, the Switch version was obviously going to have the most graphical issues.
I never really enjoyed the Frist Kick demo, so this demo (and the entire game) is a pass for me. Also, I dislike demos with limited plays, like certain 3DS demos, but that might just be me.
So I think that while the number of 106 million isn't completely accurate, I don't think the actual number is that much higher. Yes, multiple people may play on one account, but one person may play on multiple accounts. Two people might play a co-op game on one account, but at the same time, one person might play on two separate accounts, one for regular play and one for speedrunning. The two cases cancel out, and the recorded number of people is accurate. Not a complaint, just something i noticed. 106 million is still quite impressive though, no matter how off it is!
