Re: Feature: The Biggest Nintendo Switch Retail Games of 2017 - Summer Edition

KirbyTheVampire

Probably the only games from that list that I'm gonna be buying are Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey. I might consider Mario + Rabbids depending on the reviews, though.

Looks like my PS4 will get more usage this year than I expected. Definitely looking forward to next year's Switch lineup, because I'm not really excited for anything this year aside from the two games mentioned above. I would be all over Skyrim, but I've already put hundreds, if not thousands of hours into that game.

Maybe there will be an indie game or something that surprises me, though.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE Like I said before, I recommend actually using a controller before you critique it. The vast majority of people have no problem using the Switch with the JoyCons in the grip or in portable mode. The most frequent complaints I hear about are holding individual JoyCons for multiplayer and holding both JoyCons in each hand. Holding a single JoyCon for playing multiplayer isn't ideal, but that's intended for quick multiplayer sessions when on the go, rather than long sessions at home. Holding a JoyCon in each hand isn't necessary at all, due to the grip.

As for power, the Switch is more powerful than the Wii U which you love singing praises about, so I don't really understand why you're using that as an argument. Besides, Nintendo stopped caring about power after the Wii era. Nintendo consoles also haven't had great levels of third party support since the SNES.

I also disagree with the statement about the Pro controller. I prefer the Switch Pro controller to the Wii U's (granted, I didn't use that one nearly as often because I'm not a Wii U owner, so it could be that I'm just not used to the Wii U one), and even if some people think it is slightly inferior, it's still one of the best controllers on the market. Not many people would disagree that it's better than the Dualshock 4, for example.

@SLIGEACH_EIRE It has the biggest Nintendo game ever in the form of Zelda as well as the fastest selling Mario Kart game ever, and it's also getting the first non-linear Mario since Sunshine, Splatoon 2, Metroid Prime 4, a mainline Pokemon game, and presumably games like Monster Hunter (technically this already coming, it just isn't localized yet), Smash, and Animal Crossing, as well as many other smaller IP. If the Switch doesn't succeed even with that lineup, no future Nintendo console will, either. They're bringing almost everything to the table.

It also doesn't hurt that the Switch is a very attractive console in terms of its functionality, and people can actually understand what it does, unlike the Wii U. Plus, Nintendo is actually marketing it.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Switch is About Colour, Fun and Sharing Games, For Those Unsure of Its Purpose

KirbyTheVampire

@SLIGEACH_EIRE You're very quick to judge a controller you've never used.

And yes, the Switch library will completely destroy the Wii U's library in very little time. There really is no comparison at all, especially when you consider the fact that the Switch will get pretty near all of Nintendo's major franchises as well as some of the smaller ones.

The portability is also killer. I'll take a portable console that can play the best Nintendo games we've seen since the Gamecube over a clunky system that has a toy-looking tablet for a controller and doesn't have nearly as many good games IMO.

The Switch isn't perfect, and it is missing some features like Netflix and a browser (I don't know why anyone cares about that in this day and age where practically everyone has 5 different devices that have Netflix and internet access, but oh well), but I've had more fun in the few months that I've had with it than I have with any other console in years. That definitely counts for something, at least for me.

This is just my opinion, but this definitely feels more like the Nintendo from the NES to the Gamecube era than it does the Nintendo from the Wii/Wii U era.

Re: Editorial: Nintendo Went Its Own Way at E3 2017, and It Mostly Worked

KirbyTheVampire

I find it funny how people were whining for Metroid and Pokemon on the Switch, and now some people are whining that the games were announced without any footage of the games themselves. People are impossible to please.

I thought it was a great E3 overall. I personally would have liked to see Animal Crossing, but I assume we'll get an announcement for that later when they announce their Animal Crossing mobile game.

Re: Nintendo Infographic Outlines Switch and 3DS Games for 2017

KirbyTheVampire

Already own:

Breath of the Wild + DLC
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe

Buying:

Splatoon 2
Super Mario Odyssey
Smash (if it comes, which it probably will)
Animal Crossing (if it comes, which it probably will)
Pokemon (Not totally sure about this one, but I would be really surprised if I didn't end up wanting to buy it)

Maybe:

ARMS
Mario + Rabbids
Xenoblade Chronicles 2
Metroid Prime 4
Kirby
Yoshi
Project Octopath Traveller
Monster Hunter XX (If it gets localized. I might not buy it even then, depending on how good MH World turns out to be)

I'm sure as time goes on and more games get revealed, plenty more will be added to that list, but that's it for the time being.

Re: Poll: What Did You Think of Nintendo at E3 2017?

KirbyTheVampire

@Nintendoforlife I wasn't expecting it this year, and I certainly didn't expect to see Smash at all, considering we already have ARMS and Pokken. I just thought they might announce Animal Crossing for a 2018 release. I still wasn't that surprised that it wasn't there, though. I figure they'll want to announce it later alongside their AC mobile game or something.

Re: Capcom Has No Plans to Bring Monster Hunter XX for Nintendo Switch to the West

KirbyTheVampire

@JaxonH Did your opinion of World really change that dramatically? You were roasting it pretty hard the other day.

That sets my mind at ease a little, since you would have a lot better idea of what makes a good Monster Hunter game than I would, considering how little of the games I've played compared to you. I'll still be really bummed if no MH game comes to the Switch in the West, but at least I'll have some form of Monster Hunter to become addicted to again if World turns out to be good.
