Re: Capcom's Hideaki Itsuno Leaves After 30 Years, Starts New Role In September

Kienda

He didn’t just “work on” Dragons Dogma and Devil May Cry, he was the director for them.

Capcom announced this year that Dragons Dogma is now a key IP for them following Hideaki Itsuno’s work, so to see him leave is a bit odd if you ask me.

Anyways, I wish him well and I also wish whoever takes on these Capcom IPs well in the future.

Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024

Kienda

@ScalenePowers the only console I didn’t tick was the NES because ‘technically’ it was my older brothers.

Every other console I either owned myself, shared with my two brothers, or we had multiples of them.

Re: Nintendo Strips Team Jackpot Of Splatoon 3 World Championship Win

Kienda

To be honest, this feels like a symptom of our culture.

We have normalised vulgar language to the point where the f word is now a common filler word and being rude and abusive to people are common place.

These guys are making racist jokes and using slurs against different groups and that is wrong, but it’s not much different to the vulgar speech that has been normalised and accepted by society.

We need to clean up our speech in general because, quite frankly, it’s all becoming ugly.

Also, when you are competing. You can be respectful to your opponents.

Fair play. Good sportsmanship. Pleasant speech. All of these things we are losing and it’s sad.

Re: According To Hideki Kamiya, Ōkami's Development Team Was 'Weak'

Kienda

I mean, if he got drunk, tied a tie around his head, and challenged his team to a spicy ramen eating contest, then beat them all and called them weak. That’s understandable (respect worthy even).

Actually saying the team sucks, mocking the game itself (sales) and diminishing the love of the fanbase who invested in it? Not good.

Re: New Nintendo Nendoroids Revealed At Smile Fest 2024

Kienda

I love Nendoroids! I have to admit I’ve bought more knock offs than originals though (because of price and wanting to actually take them out of the box).

Also they make great gifts to family members who love games.

The Kirby Chef and Shadow look great.

Re: Capcom's 'Super Elections' Reveals Fan Favourite Characters, Games And More

Kienda

Some more interesting results:

Demographics:
82% Male / 14% Female / 4% Other

What do you look for in Capcom Games?
1. Exhilarating Gameplay
2. Unique and Attractive Characters

So gamers are mostly men who prefer gameplay and “unique and attractive” characters over: Story, Soundtrack, Repeatability, Difficulty, Graphics etc.

Can we draw any conclusions form this? 🤔

Funnily enough Nintendo Life didn’t want to report on these things. 😅 Although the games themselves are more exciting I guess.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Bravely Default

Kienda

As someone who has never played the game, Europe/Japan appeals more because it represents what I know of the game.

I’m guessing the flying fairy is more iconic to those who have played it and know what it’s about.

Both great though.

Re: Netflix Reveals The First Official Look At Liam Hemsworth In 'The Witcher'

Kienda

I was expecting to see comments complaining about the Witcher TV series. I didn’t expect them to be complaining about Nintendo Life for reporting on gaming related news.

To be clear, Nintendo Life is allowed to report on TV shows related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.

Nintendo Life can also report on:

  • Songs related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
  • Clothes related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
  • Food related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
  • Celebrities related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
  • Whatever the hell it likes related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.

Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Has Apparently Leaked Online

Kienda

If everyone just ignored these leakers, they would stop doing it.

They are only doing it for internet clout and their five minutes of fame. But people keep feeding them with the attention they so very much desire.

I guess it’s a good that people are warned though. Game leakers and those posting spoilers are amongst the worst things in modern gaming.

Re: The Pokémon Games Have Had Tremendous Success During The Switch Generation

Kienda

@Arawn93 I mean, you’re right, children are the target, but…

A proud Dad moment for me was when my children noticed all the jank and cheapness of the latest games without me having to point it out (I want them to believe Game Freak actually cares).

They’d save clips of bugs and just bad animation and show me when I got home from work.

We own all consoles, have hundreds of games, and the latest Pokémon games are the only ones they did this with. 😅

Re: Nintendo Discontinuing 'X' Integration On Switch Next Month

Kienda

Note to anyone complaining about the content on X/Twitter:

Just block and silence everyone you don’t like.

There are all types of voices and people on the platform and you can cultivate a feed that suits you very easily.

If you think it’s a cesspit, it’s because you are letting the algorithms determine what you see without your input.

Re: QubicGames' Switch eShop Sale Takes Over 100 Games Down To Just $0.20 Each

Kienda

Sorry, but I wouldn’t touch most of these games even if they were free.

I don’t have enough time to play all the good games I want. There is no point even considering shovelware. It’s not about money, it’s about time.

I know friends who have thousands of games on Switch/Steam/Playstation because of sales and Epic and PS+ give aways etc, but they’re never going to play the majority of them. So what’s the point?

Just play good games - there are more than enough out there. Don’t waste your time or money on the bad ones.

Re: Dragon Ball Creator Akira Toriyama Has Passed Away

Kienda

That totally sucks. Many of us grew up on his work.

Dragon Ball is so iconic in my mind that for Christmas this year I bought my son the complete box set of Dragon Ball as his first full set of Manga. I wanted him to experience it before all the others. And he loves it, he’s read through all the books multiple times already.

And the fact Akira won’t get to finish some of his creations is a shame. And I hope they can either release them in part or have someone who worked with him finish them off in some way to continue his legacy.

What a great loss. RIP Goku’s Dad.

Re: Microsoft To Bring Four Xbox Exclusives To Other Consoles, But Won't Name Them

Kienda

Loads of people are disappointed about the reveals (or lack of them) but let’s be realistic here. They told us a lot.

What they told us:

1. Xbox consoles are here to stay
So many were saying Xbox was about to die. That all Xbox exclusives were being ported etc. it was all false. A lot of rumours said Xbox wasn’t making new consoles but we found out they are bringing out new consoles this generation AND next gen. Another myth that was busted.

2. We know the four games
Pentiment, Hi Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. Okay, they didn’t say it but it’s pretty obvious. I’d eat my hat if it wasn’t them.

3. Xbox will still have exclusives
Most of Xboxes first party games will still be exclusive to Xbox consoles. They aren’t abandoning their core. There will be many more exclusives in the years to come for Xbox consoles. I don’t know why people thought this wouldn’t be the case.

4. Xbox Game Pass is growing in strength
A lot of the anti-Xbox comments on here were saying how “Game Pass is unsustainable” and that Xbox was having to sell on PS/Switch to cover costs. Well they crushed that myth today. All Xbox first party titles are coming to Xbox. And that includes new releases from Activision-Blizzard. Also existing titles are coming starting with Diablo 4 in March. That’s great news for Game Pass users.

5. The gaming community needs to chill
I think the emotional incontinence on display in the last few weeks, the wild speculation and the amount of wrong predictions, and even some entitled reactions tonight (not on here but other sites) shows a lack of professionalism from gaming media and a lack of maturity from the gaming community. I love you guys, but holy moly!
