This is sad. A small studio created a new IP that is actually good (imho) but can’t sustain their team and has to make hard decisions to survive.
It’s a much different scenario to the likes of Microsoft who could easily afford to keep the staff they laid off but need to keep the shareholders happy.
He didn’t just “work on” Dragons Dogma and Devil May Cry, he was the director for them.
Capcom announced this year that Dragons Dogma is now a key IP for them following Hideaki Itsuno’s work, so to see him leave is a bit odd if you ask me.
Anyways, I wish him well and I also wish whoever takes on these Capcom IPs well in the future.
Mario Kart 8 is my favourite racing game currently and the fact its multiplayer is so well populated and will likely not die for years is quite heartwarming.
I would consider buying this if it came out in Europe.
To be honest, this feels like a symptom of our culture.
We have normalised vulgar language to the point where the f word is now a common filler word and being rude and abusive to people are common place.
These guys are making racist jokes and using slurs against different groups and that is wrong, but it’s not much different to the vulgar speech that has been normalised and accepted by society.
We need to clean up our speech in general because, quite frankly, it’s all becoming ugly.
Also, when you are competing. You can be respectful to your opponents.
Fair play. Good sportsmanship. Pleasant speech. All of these things we are losing and it’s sad.
There are 44 different types of rocks? That’s amazing.
Someone discovered recently that Halo 3 had just one rock. And it was resized and spun around to literally make every other rock, big and small. Look it up. Haha
I mean, if he got drunk, tied a tie around his head, and challenged his team to a spicy ramen eating contest, then beat them all and called them weak. That’s understandable (respect worthy even).
Actually saying the team sucks, mocking the game itself (sales) and diminishing the love of the fanbase who invested in it? Not good.
I love Nendoroids! I have to admit I’ve bought more knock offs than originals though (because of price and wanting to actually take them out of the box).
Also they make great gifts to family members who love games.
I was expecting to see comments complaining about the Witcher TV series. I didn’t expect them to be complaining about Nintendo Life for reporting on gaming related news.
To be clear, Nintendo Life is allowed to report on TV shows related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
Nintendo Life can also report on:
Songs related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
Clothes related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
Food related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
Celebrities related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
Whatever the hell it likes related to video games that are on Nintendo consoles.
@Arawn93 I mean, you’re right, children are the target, but…
A proud Dad moment for me was when my children noticed all the jank and cheapness of the latest games without me having to point it out (I want them to believe Game Freak actually cares).
They’d save clips of bugs and just bad animation and show me when I got home from work.
We own all consoles, have hundreds of games, and the latest Pokémon games are the only ones they did this with. 😅
Sorry, but I wouldn’t touch most of these games even if they were free.
I don’t have enough time to play all the good games I want. There is no point even considering shovelware. It’s not about money, it’s about time.
I know friends who have thousands of games on Switch/Steam/Playstation because of sales and Epic and PS+ give aways etc, but they’re never going to play the majority of them. So what’s the point?
Just play good games - there are more than enough out there. Don’t waste your time or money on the bad ones.
10/10 - The smile my 9-year-old daughter had when she first saw it and then the first time playing it and her absolute love for Peach and this game may have swayed my opinion…
That totally sucks. Many of us grew up on his work.
Dragon Ball is so iconic in my mind that for Christmas this year I bought my son the complete box set of Dragon Ball as his first full set of Manga. I wanted him to experience it before all the others. And he loves it, he’s read through all the books multiple times already.
And the fact Akira won’t get to finish some of his creations is a shame. And I hope they can either release them in part or have someone who worked with him finish them off in some way to continue his legacy.
I think this is more of a “Hey, it’s Pokémon’s Birthday” kind of presentation that will happen every year rather than it being used for big reveals every time.
Loads of people are disappointed about the reveals (or lack of them) but let’s be realistic here. They told us a lot.
What they told us:
1. Xbox consoles are here to stay
So many were saying Xbox was about to die. That all Xbox exclusives were being ported etc. it was all false. A lot of rumours said Xbox wasn’t making new consoles but we found out they are bringing out new consoles this generation AND next gen. Another myth that was busted.
2. We know the four games
Pentiment, Hi Fi Rush, Sea of Thieves, and Grounded. Okay, they didn’t say it but it’s pretty obvious. I’d eat my hat if it wasn’t them.
3. Xbox will still have exclusives
Most of Xboxes first party games will still be exclusive to Xbox consoles. They aren’t abandoning their core. There will be many more exclusives in the years to come for Xbox consoles. I don’t know why people thought this wouldn’t be the case.
4. Xbox Game Pass is growing in strength
A lot of the anti-Xbox comments on here were saying how “Game Pass is unsustainable” and that Xbox was having to sell on PS/Switch to cover costs. Well they crushed that myth today. All Xbox first party titles are coming to Xbox. And that includes new releases from Activision-Blizzard. Also existing titles are coming starting with Diablo 4 in March. That’s great news for Game Pass users.
5. The gaming community needs to chill
I think the emotional incontinence on display in the last few weeks, the wild speculation and the amount of wrong predictions, and even some entitled reactions tonight (not on here but other sites) shows a lack of professionalism from gaming media and a lack of maturity from the gaming community. I love you guys, but holy moly!

Re: Japanese Charts: Mario Kart 8 Deluxe Surpasses 6 Million Units Sold
I actually wish they’d make some games with MK8’s art style. I love the different environments, the characters, buildings etc.
Re: UK Charts: Another Quiet Week Underscores The Need For Something New
I know it doesn’t help for gaming news websites, but as a gamer, having a few slow weeks without a major release is a good, maybe even calming thing.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl: Donkey Kong Country (GBA)
Europe, because they look so happy to be on that barrel.
Re: Ex-Nintendo President Reggie Fils-Aimé Is Keen To Discuss The State Of The Industry
I hope they ask Reggie, “Is your body ready?”
And Reggie says, “No… my body is Primed.”
Then Nintendo drops Metroid Prime 4 that night.
Re: LEGO Horizon Adventures Has Been Rated For Nintendo Switch
@Truegamer79 I mean, we grew up with family friendly movies like Watership Down, Gremlins, and Harry and the Hendersons.
Of course we are hardened compared to this generation.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Contra 4
The derp face on the Japanese cover isn’t gonna win anyone over.

The bits that looked like the game looked okay, I suppose. All of those real people though…
Re: 50 Best GameCube Games Of All Time
Star Fox Adventures appears to be missing…
What the actual what, NintendoLife?!
Re: UK Charts: Star Wars Outlaws Bags Number One While Emio Flounders
Showing the % between platforms is quite eye opening.

Yay, some more video game tunes to add to my Spotify playlist.
Re: Random: Player Discovers Hilarious Method To Knock Out Guards In Metal Gear Solid 2
The ultimate insult is to knock out someone with a Sky Rat.
Re: Nintendo Life's Switch Summer Survey 2024
@ScalenePowers the only console I didn’t tick was the NES because ‘technically’ it was my older brothers.
Every other console I either owned myself, shared with my two brothers, or we had multiples of them.
Re: Random: Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Sold Better Than Tears Of The Kingdom Last Quarter
Breath of the Wild is iconic and will remain that way.
There are many reasons why new people will be getting into the franchise and will start with BotW over TotK.
Re: Mario + Rabbids Director Davide Soliani Leaves Ubisoft After 25 Years
Seeing him getting emotional that day was really touching.
Getting to work with Miyamoto must have been a highlight of his carrier.

Kinda more like Demons of Derpness rather than Darkness.

Re: Nintendo On Inappropriate Use Of Its IP And Games: "Action Must Be Taken"
Protect Nintendo from people profiting wrongly from your IPs, sure.
However don’t crack down on fans honouring your IPs and adding value to the community.
It’s as simple as that.
Re: Talking Point: What Are You Playing This Weekend? (29th June)
Breath of the Wild on the Wii U. 😎
Re: New Nintendo Nendoroids Revealed At Smile Fest 2024
I love Nendoroids! I have to admit I’ve bought more knock offs than originals though (because of price and wanting to actually take them out of the box).

The Kirby Chef and Shadow look great.
Re: Capcom's 'Super Elections' Reveals Fan Favourite Characters, Games And More
@sanderev in another part of the vote, Breath of Fire 1, 2 & 3 was the third most requested remake.
And another part asked what fans wanted most, and the top result was “remake old IPs”.
So there is hope.
Re: Capcom's 'Super Elections' Reveals Fan Favourite Characters, Games And More
Some more interesting results:
Demographics:
82% Male / 14% Female / 4% Other
What do you look for in Capcom Games?
1. Exhilarating Gameplay
2. Unique and Attractive Characters
So gamers are mostly men who prefer gameplay and “unique and attractive” characters over: Story, Soundtrack, Repeatability, Difficulty, Graphics etc.
Can we draw any conclusions form this? 🤔
Funnily enough Nintendo Life didn’t want to report on these things. 😅 Although the games themselves are more exciting I guess.
Re: Talking Point: Would You Want Quality And Performance Options For Nintendo's 'Switch 2' Games?
I would love 60fps options.
Personally, it’s a big deal to me. I may be in the minority, but that’s my preference. I like smooth frames.
My Switch is just for first party Nintendo games. Most third parties I play elsewhere because of performance.
Re: Retailer 'GAME' Is Ending Its Reward Programme And Elite Membership
Could this be GAME over?
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Bravely Default
As someone who has never played the game, Europe/Japan appeals more because it represents what I know of the game.
I’m guessing the flying fairy is more iconic to those who have played it and know what it’s about.
Both great though.
Re: Nintendo Hacker Gary Bowser Says Conviction Was "A Blessing"
This Bowser guy is everywhere.
I mean, he’s the Princess stealing, Mario bashing Koopa King , he’s Nintendo’s biggest hacking nemesis, and he’s the President of Nintendo America.
I’m so confused.
Re: Netflix Reveals The First Official Look At Liam Hemsworth In 'The Witcher'

Nintendo Life can also report on:
Re: Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door Has Apparently Leaked Online
If everyone just ignored these leakers, they would stop doing it.
They are only doing it for internet clout and their five minutes of fame. But people keep feeding them with the attention they so very much desire.
I guess it’s a good that people are warned though. Game leakers and those posting spoilers are amongst the worst things in modern gaming.
Re: Round Up: The Reviews Are In For Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
@Ironcore I’m a 60fps junkie. But, come on, this is Paper Mario. It doesn’t need 60fps.
Re: The Pokémon Games Have Had Tremendous Success During The Switch Generation
The real kicker for me as a parent of children who love Pokémon is that I have to buy this game TWICE in order for them to catch all the Pokémon.
We are literally doubling their profits, getting ripped off twice, for half assed games that - and breathe…
You get my point.
Re: The Pokémon Games Have Had Tremendous Success During The Switch Generation

Re: Rumour: Pokémon Leaker Suggests Gen 10 Games Are Coming In 2026
Let’s hope they really put effort in to make these games live up to the support they are given.
Nintendo/Game Freak can afford to invest more into these games to increase their quality, and the fanbase deserves better.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Demon's Crest (SNES)
Demon’s Crest = “Rar! Me scary!”
Demon’s Blazon = “I’m here to rock your underworld.”
Re: Nintendo Discontinuing 'X' Integration On Switch Next Month
@Ironcore exactly!
I have an X account only for gaming, entertainment and cool science stuff. I don’t even see any politics or toxicity on the platform.
Re: Nintendo Discontinuing 'X' Integration On Switch Next Month
Note to anyone complaining about the content on X/Twitter:
Just block and silence everyone you don’t like.
There are all types of voices and people on the platform and you can cultivate a feed that suits you very easily.
If you think it’s a cesspit, it’s because you are letting the algorithms determine what you see without your input.
Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Mario Paint (SNES)
I don’t think there has ever been an easier choice to make.
Re: Best Underwater Levels On Nintendo Switch
Can we all agree that the best music in an underwater level is Aquatic Ambience in Donkey Kong Country?
Re: QubicGames' Switch eShop Sale Takes Over 100 Games Down To Just $0.20 Each

Re: Soapbox: As Splatoon's Online Wraps Up Nearly 9 Years On, How Does It Compare To Splatoon 3?
Splatoon 1 still holds up as a fantastic game and it is a shame it won’t be playable online anymore.
The campaign/story mode will still be playable, but I fear some of the amazing special attacks in the game will be lost to history.
It would be good if Splatoon 3 had some legacy weapons with the Splatoon 1 specials to ensure they aren’t lost forever.

Re: Pokémon Presents Announced For 27th February 2024

So let’s keep expectations in check.

Why, me hearty? Because Switch be the only console that can play Sea of Thieves on the open seas… or in the bathtub.
A real pirates life for thee. Yar!
