Re: Random: KFC China's Adorable Dancing Psyduck Toy Is An Internet Sensation

Kienda

@Lord I know. It’s really sad how they’ve taken away all ours kids fun.

I remember a few years back I went to Burger King, bought my kids some kids meals then found no toys. I went to the counter and said, “my kids meals didn’t come with toys.”

The woman at the counter replied, “We don’t do toys anymore.”

I asked why and she replied, “to save the planet, duh.”

I’ve never gone to Burger King since. Lol

At least McDonald’s provides something. It’s a far cry from the glory days, but the video game themed stuff is still fun.

Re: PSA: Rocket League's New Cross-Platform Voice Chat Is Enabled By Default

Kienda

This isn’t good. Especially for children.

I had a drunk guy shouting abuse at me from the first kick of the game (we were partied after a good match) and he carried on f-ing and blinding for about 10 minutes after the match. I never had a mic to respond and I am online abuse hardened from years of FPS games, but if I was a kid it could have been quite scary/shocking.

Instead I just giggled to myself at his absurdities before I muted the TV, went to make a cup of tea, went to the toilet and put some washing in, came back to him still ranting about 10 minutes later. I nearly choked on my tea laughing so hard. A grown man wasting his time simply because we lost a game, and he had no idea who I was.

Anyways. Left party and blocked him and turned off voice chat. But it should be off by default.

Re: April NPD: Switch Has Overtaken PS4 Sales In The US

Kienda

@BiscuitCrumbsInMyBed for someone who’s name suggests you enjoy a good baked treat, I am surprised you take exception to a food analogy about something selling well.

The analogy refers to warm cakes, buns, bread etc being sold so quickly that they haven’t yet cooled because they are that popular.

Re: Nintendo Blocks Another 2,200 Videos On YouTube Featuring Its Music

Kienda

@Troll_Decimator I agree if the person is deliberately exploiting other people’s content then it isn’t a good thing.

However, this person was just doing a fan service to the Nintendo community. They likely spent hundreds (if not thousands) of hours providing for others something that wasn’t available by official means.

He should have been praised or rewarded but instead Nintendo has treated him like a criminal.

Shame, shame, shame on Nintendo!

Re: Crysis 4 Is In Development But "Will Be A While Yet"

Kienda

I don’t mean this disrespectfully, but we must be dreaming to think this will be released natively on Switch.

They said it will be a “truly next gen experience”. So we shouldn’t expect it on PS4 and Xbox One either.

Having said that, Crytek have been very good to gamers in the past and I wouldn’t put it past them trying.

Re: Soapbox: After 25 Years, Pokémon Legends: Arceus Will Be My First Pokémon Game

Kienda

@WhiteTrashGuy yeah, that would have been a great. I remember having these conversations with friends when Nintendo was saying they wouldn’t even make a 3D Pokémon. Clearly that changed and I’m glad they are branching out.

I only played Blue and that was it. My younger brother has played everyone Pokémon and continues to this day. My kids play the new ones. But this one might be my first game since Blue.

Re: Rocket League Season 5 Lands This Week With A Space Theme And Grimes Music

Kienda

@Octane_st1m I’ve played this game for years and haven’t really noticed anything different apart from it now having more players.

I only bought the season pass once many moons ago and play enough to have the season pass free every season with credits earned.

I just focus on playing though not collecting, so maybe that’s why I’m happy.

Re: Looks Like Pokémon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl Are The Exact Same ROM

Kienda

As a kid I loved the different versions of the same Pokémon games.

As a grown up, you realise it is a cheap trick to get more money.

While it is, dare I say, shameful. I think a lot of modern day video game practices are, such as micro transactions, loot boxes, paid DLC and the like. It is all are just paywalled content to get us to pay more money.

Re: Legendary Street Fighter II Artist Mick McGinty Has Passed Away

Kienda

His artwork had a massive impact for me personally and no doubt on the wider world.

Street Fighter II
Streets of Rage II
Shining Force
Kid Chameleon

Four massive games that shaped a generation and that I (like many others) played for hours on end and have fond memories of.

I remember studying these artworks on countless occasions. Either in stores as I repeatedly looked at the same games over and over until I could afford to buy them or when they were finally on my shelf.

I also remember trying to draw the Kid Chameleon cover a few times because I loved it so much.

I don’t think these artists know how much they helped shape gaming for our generation or the impact they had on us individually.

Thanks for memories Mick.
