Re: Switch eShop Game Prices Can No Longer Be Below $1.99, Says Death Squared Dev

Kienda

@SwitchVogel I would say the vast majority of people browse the eShop.

Most aren’t as connected as we are. Many are casual gamers and there are literally millions of kids with Switches who don’t know anything about third party sites as an option to find Nintendo games.

My two children, for example, have their own Switches and are 6 and 9. Their only way to know about new games on Switch are through the news section, the eShop or me telling them.

Thankfully they aren’t bored because they have a great selection of games I curated for them and we are mainly physical so they can share games and so they are rarely looking for new ones. But occasionally they get some eShop funds and that eShop is a bit of a poop show.

Re: Netflix Is Winding Down Its Services On Wii U And 3DS

Kienda

@Sunsy if you are a bit stuck for Netflix, the cheapest way to get it is probably an Amazon Fire Stick. They are £30 here in the UK and sometimes cheaper. Similar price in US.

You do not need Amazon Prime to use apps like Netflix on it and it also plays some mobile games and stuff. It isn’t bad for the price.

If you live in the UK, a NowTV smart stick is about £15. It also enables you to watch Netflix. They both plug in through HDMI and are just a little USB stick you connect to WiFi with and they stream shows to your TV.

Re: Mario Kart Tour Gets A New Year Update With RMX Rainbow Road 2

Kienda

@DK-Fan lol, your profile picture suits your enraged comments.

This game is a mobile spin off. Nintendo have said they aren’t focusing on mobile anymore. So no, we don’t have to accept this game as the latest and greatest as MK8, and every other console MK, is better than this.

MK8 is the real deal and still sells better than most games on Switch. It would easily pay for itself, so why can’t we hope for more DLC? A new version would be great too.

Anyways, I only clicked this article because I thought it was MK8 DLC and clicked fast. When I realised it was Tour I completely lost interest and came to the comments.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Switch Game Of 2020? It's Time To Rate Your Favourites

Kienda

@dartmonkey to clarify, the two round voting system.

The first vote has all games listed. But it helps to narrow down the list to the top 100 or 50 and cuts out the junk.

The second vote helps to order that vote and give the final result.

I promise you will have much better results doing this than just throwing all games in one list and hoping for the best. It just doesn’t work like that.

Re: Poll: What's The Best Switch Game Of 2020? It's Time To Rate Your Favourites

Kienda

@dartmonkey the simple way to fix this is to do two rounds of voting.

This massive format is broken. I’ve voted for a few things and stopped because I ran out of time. Others will do the same or forget their favourites or miss games or whatever.

People do NOT have time. As someone who works in marketing, you can’t rely on people to do homework or spend more than a few moments on this.

We always get random skewed results from these NL polls and it’s because there is too much choice.

I love you guys, but these crazy long lists simply don’t work. You have to think of a better way because you’re the only site who does it and the end result always has random games added that make no sense.

Re: Netflix Announces New 3D Sonic Animated Series, Quickly Deletes Tweet

Kienda

@Strictlystyles I disagree with you on that. Baby Shark is a classic.

In the future, people are going to walk down the isle to that music, I tell ya!

Anyways, I think you are talking on behalf of too many. People do want a 3D Sonic TV series, some want a 2D one. Most of us don’t care that much, we just want a good show for our children because we are not the target audience.

To us gamers though we don’t really care about the TV show, we want a new Sonic game. Personally, I want a decent 3D Sonic like Sonic Adventure.

We all have different likes and dislikes. They aren’t going to win with everyone. But I don’t mind them trying things.

Re: Netflix Announces New 3D Sonic Animated Series, Quickly Deletes Tweet

Kienda

@Strictlystyles Tell that to my kids.

They loved the Sonic Boom TV series, as many of their school friends did, and have rewatched it a number of times.

It's not targetted for us grumpy adults, it's for kids and helps them get into a franchise they may not be so familiar with and parents are often happy for them to watch because we enjoyed Sonic back in the day. It's all a good thing.

Re: Video: Listen To The London Philharmonic's Super Mario Medley From Abbey Road

Kienda

It always amazes me when I see “real” musicians playing video game music.

When I was a child I was often told my love for games was stupid and even felt embarrassed sometimes because the only music I knew was from games. I bought piano collections of the Final Fantasy games and things.

It wasn’t until years later that I realised what I thought was my niche hobby was actually enjoyed and appreciated by so many and that the work of these developers and musicians produced was world class, I was shocked that a world class outfit like the London Philharmonic Orchestra would put on a Zelda concert, for example. It blew my mind and still amazes me today.

Re: Review: Just Dance 2021 - Still Fun, But Feels More Like A Cash-Grab Than Ever Before

Kienda

My biggest problem with this is that the target audience is young children and they have much less self control and so it is harder for them to go without.

I guess with all the season passes and cosmetics of other games that kids play, they feel they need to do this, but it’s a bad business practice.

My wife vowed not to buy another of these games after we discovered how restrictive the song list is in a previous game. So they’ve at leat lost one future customer here. And if they just offered a £10 song pack where you keep songs forever instead of an ongoing subscription they would have kept us much easier. But still would have found it scummy.

Re: Sonic Movie Sequel Scheduled To Start Production In March Next Year

Kienda

@0blivion my kids are 5 and 8 when we went to the cinema so I don’t think they can dislike anything other than vegetables and school work.

I didn’t think it was the best movie, that’s for sure, but I waited for them to tell me there reaction and then played to their feelings of it. They were telling me how great it was as we walked out of the cinema and took a picture with a Sonic mascot. So I naturally took the position of “that movie was soo awesome” to boost their view of it.

If they said it sucked (which they wouldn’t at that age) I’d probably have given a more critical view.

I still liked the movie though. Maybe more so because they did.

Re: Sonic Movie Sequel Scheduled To Start Production In March Next Year

Kienda

Well, we know the best character in the series (Tails) will be in it, so it’s gonna be great!

Remember guys, this movie is for kids. As a father of young children, I can confirm the first film filled them joy to see one of their favourite characters on the big screen. And that’s what it’s all about. The bonus was us parents enjoyed it too.
