Nintendo are doing great and the industry should be happy about that.
It proves they really don’t need to do some of the jammy business practices they do (deleting Pikmin 3 On Wii U) and they still need to do something to address drifting joycons.
Having said that they are proving themselves in other areas and showing portability and great selection of games, plus Nintendo’s magical first parties titles are winners (maybe even trumping the appeal of high powered dedicated consoles).
@gcunit @CowCatcher come on guys, let’s be a bit respectful.
He could have real mental or physical ailments that he needs treatment for... like a failing liver, STDs and two wives and a former secretary who want to lay the Smackdown on him.
It is a shame people have been tainted by Kickstarter. Sure, there have been issues, but some great games have released thanks to it without issue so maybe don’t focus only on the bad ones?
We still need to support indie games as some of them will never see the light of day without it.
I wish this game the best and hope they can deliver.
@nessisonett updating controllers is actually common for all the big three consoles.
We had an issue on my son’s XBox One where he couldn’t speak to friends through his headset (headset has to be plugged into controller on that console). It worked one minute was broken the next.
After lots of trial and error, the fix came from updating the controller through the console.
But agreed, no idea why it didn’t work one minute and why it worked after the update.
@gcunit it includes inappropriate/sexual advancements/messages towards minors.
The Smash scene for most low key tournaments is a little uninviting. Smelly nerds in basements having tournaments with other smelly nerds. Kinda like the Bronies of the gaming world.
Despite all the complaints about Nintendo not supporting the tournaments. I think this news shows it was a good thing they stood clear (imho).
First party Nintendo games hold their prices so people like me cannot just throw money on them digitally, therefore, I always buy physical for the resale aspect.
I don’t do that on PS4 though because I can pick up first party and amazing AAA games digitally for under £10 after a year on the market.
I don’t think you can get any first party games for that price on Switch. Even 3 years later.
I’m not saying this is a bad thing, but for a kids gaming company, they are still the most expensive and least pocket money friendly out of the consoles.
@Anti-Matter sorry man, but not everything is a BotW clone.
Ocean Horn is clearly a Zelda tribute (the designers said that from the outset of the first game). The other two you mentioned are not.
Effie is more of an old school 3D similar time the likes of Spyro or Knack.
A Knights Tale is more akin to storytelling/point and click puzzle solving game. And it’s a remake of an older game that came out before BotW.
You might mean A Knight’s Quest, which is similar to other 3D Action adventure games. It has big boss fights and things but it’s not a BotW clone. Maybe takes cues from Zelda though in some areas, but also from many, many other games.
Some people’s idea of “simple” is a bit different to mine it seems.
Also, he says at the end that if you are outside the borders and load back into the game you end up in the Shrine of Resurrection “for reasons unknown”.
I think this was intentionally coded by Nintendo who foresaw some idiots glitching the game and getting stuck outside the map and giving them the chance to carry on without deleting their saves.
Yeah, from the title to the animation that game needed work.
I really wish Athlete Kings from the Sega Saturn was remade though. I loved that so much and me and my friends wore out controllers spamming those buttons.
@Rayquaza2510 Yeah, I guess the fact that comparing these to other Adidas products actually makes them reasonably priced. Still out of my price range for my children though.
And yes, sure, if I had the money I would choose these, but I don’t. Haha
You are right on the Switch front. It is more expensive and the games hold their prices for a long time which actually prices out most families, which is the audience Nintendo is targeting.
It is much cheaper for us to buy an Xbox One and get the game pass with dozens of kid friendly games than it is to buy a Switch without games.
I know you don’t get the Nintendo magic, but there is a reason most kids at our school don’t own a Switch. And it’s kinda sad really.
@Damo It always amazes me how much Nintendo fans are willing to pay for branded items. And I’m guessing most on here don’t have kids.
The majority of families are not willing or able to spend £20 on flip flops for a single child that last a few months before your child grows out of them.
We have bought Pokemon and Frozen flip flops from Primark that cost £2 each for my kids. We actually bought three sizes of them because my kids use flips flops all the time and will grow into each pair.
£20 is ten times that amount. I bought six pairs of them for less than a single pair of these.
I know there is a quality difference, but my kids are happy as anything with them. And yes, £20 doesn’t seem a lot, but trust me, for ours and many other families it is.
I thought a “rip off” was something that was similar to an original, this isn’t a “rip off” it IS Pokemon.
Fraud, theft, stealing. These are more appropriate words.
And clearly they lack any creative ability at all because the only semi-original thing they came up with was the title and the one they came up with (Capsmon) is absolutely rubbish.
(I still appreciate the joke comments above though).
Not all of us have thought about this and for most it is a nice reminder of how things have changed and gives us a new perspective on the old hardware.
There is nothing wrong with that at all.
And just today I watched a Digital Foundry video explaining that N64 couldn’t have Final Fantasy 7, and now I know it was because of the size of the game. This article genuinely helped me understand that.
@Thehandsomedan yeah, I agree they made the right call on that one but it is still a shame than an outrage mob can limit creative freedom.
We see it happening all the time in many fields and whilst the occasion you mention sounds like a wise decision to change, a lot of the time the decisions aren’t made out of wisdom by out of fear of repercussions and sometimes detrimental. There are many time’s where the fan base is screwed over by the outrage of those who have no interest to support to the game.
@Splatmaster that is a shame. The media (and grown ups) ruins everything, it seems.
To get around the outrage they could have enabled it only in paintball mode and maybe not have them die but faint or something. But I guess that would have been too much work at short notice and they were already tight in space.
Edit: Just imagine a game doing it nowadays. You’d have loads of Donald Trumps and Kim Jong Un’s running around along with people having boobs for faces.
We are all happy to see AC:NH do so well, and it is getting celebrities and everyone playing it.
I’m guessing the digital sales are due to the times we live in. I don’t think it would have been 50% digital if released last year. And this could see a shift to a more digital Nintendo in the future.
Just think how we Nintendo fans were back in 2016. Clinging on to hope that the Wii U would get a game, any game. Now the Switch is the hottest thing around.
We are getting a steady flow of first party titles, but importantly the third parties and indies are supporting Switch also. So everyone is happy.
I’m not sure why some people are complaining still?
I wonder if some games that have stock left over from before the pandemic will benefit from these sales charts compared to newer games that will have stock issues. It might explain some things.

@Hewitt I’d imagine it had some feature like the Season Pass included or free cosmetics.
Nice to see people enjoying Ninjala though.

Just imagine how many Sea Bass have been caught by all these people.
Probably more than in existence on earth today... or throughout history!
Re: Best Nintendo Switch Open-World Games
Technically, all Switch games can be played in the “open world” thanks to it’s portability.
(Sorry, I’m a Dad, and it’s my job to make bad puns).

Re: Looks Like Apple Arcade's Zelda-Style Exclusive Oceanhorn 2 Is Jumping Ship To Switch
@Dirty0814 yeah, I think this is why it will be interesting to compare the two games and see how similar/far apart the devices are for gaming.
It could mean we see fully fledged console games from the current generation on mobile at some point.
Re: Looks Like Apple Arcade's Zelda-Style Exclusive Oceanhorn 2 Is Jumping Ship To Switch

It will be interesting to see the graphics comparison between the latest iPhone and the Switch.
Our phones must be more powerful nowadays? I mean a £279 Switch vs a £1,100 iPhone is a big difference in price after all.
Re: Did You Buy The Wrong Pokémon Sword And Shield DLC? Don't Worry, Nintendo Will Sort It Out
I think most who did this would have automatically assumed the DLC worked on both.
Remember, kids play these games and they are probably the majority who made the mistake.
Personally, I think they should have just made the DLC go across both.
We already have to buy two games to get the full experience. Now two DLCs. It sucks.
Re: Splatoon 2 Version 5.2.1 Update Patch Notes
@Isle_Delfino_Man @blockfight thanks for the replies.
Yes, my son has the game and we played it a lot in the past (taking it in turns) but we haven’t played for a while now.
We got a second Switch last week and I think this would be a great game to play online together, so I might get a second copy.
Glad to hear it’s still active.
