Re: News Of COVID-19 Vaccine Causes Nintendo, Ubisoft And Activision Share Prices To Drop

Kienda

The stocks of certain industries are over inflated right now, including Nintendo’s. These will stabilise sooner or later.

The issue in the long term is gonna be more about job losses, economic downturns and stock market crashes which will cause way more trouble for Nintendo and the like moving foreword (sorry to be a downer).

But hey, at least we can all hide in bunkers and play on our Switches while the world burns.

Re: Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Dry Twice Comes To Switch Next Spring

Kienda

That title had me trying to work out its meaning for a few moments.

I’m a bit slow in these things. Haha

I remember playing one of the earlier entries of this game back In the 90s as a kid and being shocked by some of the raunchy stuff. Me and my brother enjoyed the game though, but a lot of it probably went over our heads.

Hard pass today though, sorry Larry.

Re: Control's eShop Page Reminds Us About Harsh Realities Of A Cloud-Based Future

Kienda

@dres I haven’t used Stadia, but I have streamed through Nvidia, PlayStation Now and Xbox.

All three had a very minimal delay. It wasn’t unplayable by any stretch, but it was noticeable. And for me, I just didn’t want that in my head. I prefer playing the game how they were meant to be played.

There is a reason why Stadia flopped, after all.

Re: Control's eShop Page Reminds Us About Harsh Realities Of A Cloud-Based Future

Kienda

Yesterday NintendoLife interviewed the developers of Control where they said that working remotely was hard during Covid because cloud based streaming wasn’t good enough yet for their game testing.

It was a bit of an odd thing to say when trying to sell us a cloud based game.

Anyways, clouds are pretty things in the sky and places to store my pictures. They aren’t for gaming.

Re: "Nintendo Isn't That Smart": Pachter Says Nintendo Should Scrap Switch And 'Only Have Switch Lite'

Kienda

Stop giving Pachter the attention he craves.

Crap! Now I’m commenting and NintendoLife are gonna think articles are popular and so they should give him more exposure for clicks and so forth.

Anyways, he’s always saying controversial things for controversy’s sake. He’s got his head up his own ass and I don’t care if he is right or wrong on any issue, he doesn’t deserve the platform after what he said following Iwata’s passing.

Re: Final Fantasy IX Is Getting A Physical Release On Nintendo Switch

Kienda

@realityxaidan I think you’ve opened Pandora’s box asking for people to give you recommendations, because you will gets lots of different answers. Hehe.

Anyways, I would personally recommend starting with FFVII (7) as I personally started with this one and it was my real intro into the series.

It is also a favourite for many people. And there is a reason why it got a remake, spin off games as well as a whole movie while others in the series haven’t got any of that. That’s why if you will only ever play one then I recommend that.

Having said that, you can’t really go wrong with 6, 7, 8 and 9. They are all similar in play style, but graphically and story wise they are different. 8 is probably more complicated in the battle system if you are a first timer as they add a few random things. 9 is more traditional to the older games. 7 and 6 are also fairly simple in their battle systems, but they all have a ton of depth as you progress.

If you want to go back a bit old school then I’d recommend 6. The story on that is great l, but it is the 2D style. 10 is also a good game with more modernised graphics. It has some oddities in the gameplay, like a side game of underwater basketball, which for some reason I was really bad at. But still a good game and that’s not the main part of the game by any means. I know people who played that one first often don’t like others as much as that.

12 is also a great Final Fantasy but is not the same as the others. It’s more of an open(ish) world single player mmorpg. You set up a tank, healer and dps kind of setup. But I would rate 12 over 10 and even 8. It’s just different gameplay wise. And 8 in particular gives me massive nostalgic hits from when I was a kid so it is hard to beat.

My favourites in order are:

FF7
FF6
FF9
FF12
FF8
FF10
FF15

These are the ones I have played and everyone’s orders will be different.

Re: Atelier Ryza 2 Won't Be Censored In The West, Says Koei Tecmo

Kienda

There is a flawed logic in censoring things like this.

The people who dictate it are the same ones who promote children learning about sexuality at an early age and for people to be body positive and dress however they like (even if it shows too much).

Yet, when it comes to a fictional character that shows a tiny bit of butt cheek they censor it saying it is overtly sexual, encourages predatory behaviour and that those who like it/defend it are exhibiting toxic masculinity.

You can’t have it both ways unless your aim isn’t about inclusion, acceptance and so forth but is really about control and power over another.

Re: Nintendo Extends Overwatch Game Trial Offer To Switch Online Members In The West

Kienda

I’ve put hundreds of hours into Overwatch on the PC. It is a great, great game.

Sadly, I have hardly played since the China fiasco / silencing of Hong Kong protesters.

I haven’t made a conscious decision not to play. I’ve played it with friends and things. But when I go to it solo, I just get a feeling in my gut and stop myself as I have plenty other games that aren’t soured by the company’s actions.

It’s still a great game though.

Re: Nintendo Is Being Sued Over Joy-Con Drift Yet Again, This Time By A Child

Kienda

@Mario-Time-Whoa “Diverting their assets”?

No. Nintendo has way more money than they need. They could send every Switch owner a set of JoyCons for free and still have money to spare (by a lot).

They have not made people well aware of JoyCon faults. They have not sent out emails to all Nintendo customers or put notifications on the Switch news feed. They have also declined repairs on JoyCons over one year old and there are many stories where they have NOT repaired them.

Also, they haven’t acknowledged the fault in and actually stopped future JoyCons from having this fault on the first play.

I’m not saying everything Nintendo is doing is wrong, but they could be doing far, far, FAR more.

Re: Nintendo Is Being Sued Over Joy-Con Drift Yet Again, This Time By A Child

Kienda

@nukatha Nintendo needs to do far more though.

We are all aware of the problem because we are in this sphere. But not all Switch owners know they can get them repaired.

There are countless people who have bought new ones and thrown away the old. If Nintendo truly cared about this, they would admit they are wrong, put messaging up on the Switch news page that gives detailed instructions to every user on how people can have their JoyCon repaired and so forth. Instead they are silent and don’t offer repairs to everyone.

It’s time people stopped trying to defend bad business practices. We are the only ones who lose from this, not the shareholders.

Re: Nintendo Is Being Sued Over Joy-Con Drift Yet Again, This Time By A Child

Kienda

You got this, kid!

All us Nintendo fans who have forked out buckets of cash for faulty peripherals are rooting for you.

EDIT: For anyone defending Nintendo, please remember that Nintendo is a multi-billion dollar company that has made countless millions for its shareholders. We the little people are the ones who gave them that money but are being shortchanged on this issue.

Nintendo could admit their mistake, issue refunds/repairs or new JoyCon to all who have issues. It will be a financial hit for them, but will do a great deal to make us, the fans, appreciate the company more. The $5 million is a lot, but if it causes Nintendo to change, then we all win.

Re: Overwatch Is Going Free-To-Play On Switch For A Week In Japan

Kienda

@Valhalla91 @Blooper987 the question would be if Tracer would be the best character.

I know she is the headline character for Overwatch, but I think Genji and D.Va would also be good candidates and there are other melee characters.

In fact, the perfect Overwatch character might be where you have 3-4 (or 6) of them as one character and it switches based on the move set you are using. Overwatch is a team game after all and they are the members of Overwatch.

Re: Pokémon GO Strips Away Stay-At-Home Safety Features In The Middle Of A Pandemic

Kienda

@chardir not every country is the same.

My family in Manila, Philippines have not been allowed out of their apartment apart from to buy groceries for 4 months. They can’t even go for a walk around their building.

In Israel right now they are on total lockdown and can’t walk 100 meters from their homes.

Many other countries are close to entering a second lockdown and each country has different rules.

Where I live, in an English village in the countryside, we are totally fine walking every day during lockdown and my son could play this every day without trouble. But this is a global app that should be thinking globally.

Re: Hands On: Is Genshin Impact The Zelda: Breath Of The Wild Clone Fans Thought It Was?

Kienda

I think it is unfair to call this a BotW clone. I actually think it has a lot of Dragon Quest elements also, but it isn’t a clone of each one, but draws a lot of inspiration from them.

This is a great game. Yes, the micro transactions suck and it would be far better as a single transaction game where you play through the story. For that reason I probably won’t stick with it for long. But for the several hours I have played it has far exceeded my expectations.

Re: Random: Yesterday Was National Ash Ketchum Day, Apparently

Kienda

There is a national day for everything these days, doesn’t hurt to have a bit of fun.

Yesterday was also the anniversary of the Battle of Britain where a vastly outnumbered British Royal Air Force defeated a much larger and better equipped Nazi airforce during World War II.

We owe a great debt to those brave souls.

Re: The Splatoon 2 Chicken VS. Egg Splatfest Is Officially Underway

Kienda

@mcandy242 Not true.

The question is “What came first?” But they don’t tell us what sport the egg and the chicken are competing in so it leaves to a big variety of answers.

I’m pretty sure the Chicken would come first at long jump whilst the egg would dominate and egg an spoon race.

This Splatfest? Well it’s anyone’s guess.

Re: New Details Revealed About Matchmaking In Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition

Kienda

@LN3000 @ShadJV @Kalmaro Okay, I think I’ve gotten to the bottom of this.

The PlayStation blog says you can get 3 game codes and play the full game together (even though it says trial version for the free downloads).

This means I can buy the game once, maybe on PS4, and then have my kids download the trial versions on their Switches and we can all play together.

So I can play couch coop, but it will be me playing on the TV and them playing handheld.

I actually don’t mind that.

Phew!

Re: New Details Revealed About Matchmaking In Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition

Kienda

@LN3000 - So when my daughter wants to join us. How does that work? Do they give two friends codes?

I mean, I used to sing my kids to sleep with the intro song of this game because I love it so much. I just want to sit on the sofa and play it with them together without it being so convoluted.

We played Secret of Mana together that way (and countless other games). So why have Square made it so hard to do it with this game which I consider a favourite?

And why are people defending bad decisions?

Re: New Details Revealed About Matchmaking In Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles Remastered Edition

Kienda

So let me get this straight, since there is no local co-op, if I want to play this game with my son I have to buy two copies of the game and play on separate consoles and every time we have to type a new game code in and possibly do that multiple times per day if we stop for lunch or something.

I might just get my GameCube out instead... oh wait, with that game we need to connect a Game Boy Advance to play and we don’t have one.

Why have Square made this game so complicated?
