@SuperKMx agreed, despite putting “NO GAME INCLUDED” in listings I always message ahead now just to get the buyer to confirm they are aware when it’s just a box or just the pre order incentives. Too often the answer is ‘no’.

@Kalmaro I agree, I hear 'cards', 'credits', 'unlock, and 'shop' and my suspicion is raised. Could be totally benign but those terms are all tainted to me now.

@MajorasLapdog thanks for the tip, I'll do just that. I love RPGs but can't seem to balance progressing the story with levelling my team, then I'll hit a difficulty spike and be woefully unprepared >_<
I loved bravely default for that- being able to 'automate' and speed up the grind battles (although then I ended up way overpowered and steamrollered most of the rest of the game)

@chardir mine’s still live too, as far as info from shopto shows anyway. I know a lot of people who ordered got concerned at the slow speed at which pre order confirmations were sent.
If mine gets cancelled then I wont be chasing around looking for a replacement, £43 was the absolute top of what I felt the package deserves.

@Steelhead I’m at about 30 hours and I think I’m coming up to where I left off on Wii all those years ago. I’m wondering how much time I have left with this awesome game, did you do a lot of side quests etc?

If there is a new game to be announced, wouldn’t pushing the sale of the older game risk annoying the customer base/ eating into sales of this rumoured new entry?

@rockodoodle I am an idiot at strategy games so feel I am qualified to offer an opinion. Fire Emblem played on casual was a fun time and I was able to finish it. Civ 5 is a good bet too but Ghandi is a bloodthirsty man

Yes, in fact it’s already arrived. I hadn’t planned to get it but something about the ads appealed to my 5 year old daughter and she asked if we could get it.
Edit- not trying to say I think this is a kids game, I just haven’t played Paper Mario since TTYD and planned to finish Xenoblade before buying any new Switch games.

@Damo as far as I can work out he’s upset that NL has run an article that doesn’t meet his arbitrary bar for newsworthiness and also that NL isn’t a non profit site happy to eat it’s own maintenance costs and be staffed exclusively by volunteers.

@Aurumonado expansion packs have been around for a long old time now and, when done well, can extend the lifespan of a game significantly. DLC, as a term, lumps them in with micro transactions (which I agree can get in the sea) but I see them as a positive.

@kukabuksilaks Corporations ruining individual’s lives doesn’t sit right with me either, but it’s the court’s role to decide what is reasonable compensation and I can’t really blame Epic (as the wronged party) for setting a high upper limit (most likely with the full expectation that even if that is the damages set then it will come down through appeals etc. and even after that it’s unlikely the full award would ever be paid by the respondent).

@mlj11 Fellow PC gamer here, almost entirely digital on that platform too.
I do like that there are, usually, multiple providers and a more competitive market.
On console, where it’s more locked down, I’m often shocked by the prices digital sellers expect for older titles when compared to their physical counterparts.

I cannot recommend this enough in the case of drifting joycons.
My blue stick was drifting up almost constantly until i used some WD40 Contact Cleaner. Since then it’s back to flawless.

It’s a shame that didn’t all get integrated into the base game but I expect it will sell well enough given the state of new releases for the 3DS
