@Sinister I agree. As much as I think that some of them like Miyamoto are geniuses, I think it is time to wipe the slate clean with this new system a d get fresh faces in there. It could only help the company at this point. We aren't making games for the NES or SNES anymore. This is the 21st century lol

Litterally woke up this morning and thought everything announced... (or not announced) was a nightmare. And then I read this article and it hit me. I figured the game would at least be decently playable by today's standards, but no. What has Nintendo become? Not even putting a good effort into one of your mascot's games like Star Fox.

What is the biggest slap to the face, isn't to us the fans but to the developers that worked long and hard on Devils Third and Nintendo won't even a knowledge them! Finally some 3rd party support and they basically flip them off. What is Nintendo's strategy? They are setting themselves up for absolute failure on all fronts. It makes me sooo sad as a long time and loyal fan.
If you will excuse me I'm going to go play Metroid Prime Trilogy until the next "real Metroid" game sees the light of day.

Transformation as in they are focusing more on Amiibos than games for the Wii U and shifting development of games to the NX.

I voted for everything but the next "Big Zelda" game.
It is a "must have" for sure!!!! But it is a must have for the NX. If there would have been that option then I would have voted for it.
The fact that I invested so much in the Wii U and got it from launch no less and Nintendo is already planning on moving onto the next console pisses me off. Well it is there only option because they got their selves in a rut for sales. Well maybe you shouldn't have called it Wii "U" and made it as powerful as other consoles now. Duh

@6ch6ris6 Yep it took not even a second into the gameplay reveal yesterday and the grin of joy on my face was wiped off. Why they didn't start fresh and put more effort into the visuals to bring them up to Mario Kart 8 quality is beyond me.
This E3's strategy for Nintendo reads: Abandon Wii U quietly and reveal whatever else we have planned for it. Oh and more of those plastic figures instead of games.......

Sorry people. If you think Nintendo still had "Big" surprises left for the Wii U, you are sorrowfully mistaken. You just saw them.....

Wow! What did I say yesterday? As if this doesn't solidify it. Nintendo is abandoning the Wii U. If you didn't pick that up from the E3 Nintendo Direct then you are blind. Xenoblade X and Star Fox will be the swan songs for the system. Zelda will be like the Twilight Princess story. I can almost guarantee you that. The Wii U was the biggest disappointment since the Virtual Boy. What makes matters worse is the fact that Wii U is still relatively new. God only knows how Nintendo expects to sell this new "NX" when people just got the Wii U.

I still feel like this would have been received so much better if they would have at least announced during the Direct that this fills a gap while "Metroid Prime 4" is in the works. Not every Nintendo character needs to be cute and cuddly. Samus is that one character that definitely shouldn't be.

Probably one of the biggest Metroid fans on the site. I gave it a day to settle. The game looks okay but why in God's name did they tag "Metroid Prime" on that? Just why? We want either a full on no gimmicks 2.5D Metroid or a new game in the vein of the Metroid Prime series. Not Samus's Friends go to Soccer School.

Just read an article on IGN and they interviewed the creator of Federation Force and he basically said that he wants to make a Metroid Prime 4 but wants this stroy to be told first.

It is actually kind of funny to go back and read this article now. It's almost like wishing and letting your parents and grandparents know as a kid that you wanted that one special present if you got any at all and instead had that old grandparent give you the same thing that you already had last year and have to fake being excited.

It is weird to think that the Wii U is basically on its final stretch of its life span and nothing to show for it.......
What a disappointment. Sure Zelda was confirmed for Wii U but I definitely see that getting the Twilight Princess treatment and being released on both the new and old systems. And even still that is one great game left announced. Star Fox was underwhelming as hell and let's hope to god that Retro isn't working on another DK game. This is coming from a guy who adored the DKC games from them as well. Metroid was much better fitted for a trilogy. We don't need another DKC trilogy. We need Metroid or F-Zero. And Metroid isn't going to happen with that mediocre blast ball they showed. What a middle finger to Metroid fans. That would have been good and all if it was released alongside a new full fledged Metroid game, but it wasn't......

Retro Studios new game could have saved the entire Direct. It is very sad to say it but it has been staring, (at least me) in the face for a while now.... 3rd party support for Nintendo systems is all but extinct. I see Nintendo ending up like Sega within the next 6-10 years. By that I mean that they will become a software developer only. It really pains me to say that but look around everyone it is true!

Huge Metroid fan and this really ticked me off.....
Say goodbye to Retro Studios making any type of Metroid game. By the way, where in the world was Retro Studios new game? What a failure of an E3 Nintendo Event.....

@GrailUK I was wondering the exact same thing. Stopped me dead in my tracks. I feel like one former worker from Retro Studios is with that developer so they can technically say that. That is all I can figure.

@Guybrush20X6 Lol... who doesn't know those things about those movies? Unless you have lived in a cave your whole life or just came out of the womb, I don't see how you wouldn't know those.
I do have to agree with your above statement though. I first saw it in IGN and was kinda PO'd and came here hoping that NL would at least make it more vague.

I am really hoping that, that wasn't going to be the BIG reveal during their Direct. The inclusion of both of them doesn't surprise me. Good choices. Glad to be able to not only use a great Melee character again and another video game icon. I still really want another Metroid Character though. Give Samus some love please.

It is beyond me how developers can get away with blatant rip offs like this without being shutdown and/or sued.

I'm a huge tetris fan, but I have yet to play a Dr. Mario game. It always looked so much more strategic and less straight forward in comparison to Tetris.

@NintyMan you're right! I found that very strange as well thar Diddy is just gone in those games. Very odd indeed.

Diddy Kong Racing U. Or maybe Retro Studios went the old Donkey Kong Country route of making Diddy the star of the last game in a planned trilogy perhaps?

The only real problem I have with the list. Is that Hyrule Warriors is in the top 10 at all. It is a fun game, but really, #3?

Just saw Mad Max: Fury Road last night. I highly recommend it. one of the greatest action movies of all time. To be honest I thought the Mad Max franchise was pretty lame and weird. Then I saw Fury Road and I completely loved it. Now I want to watch the original trilogy.

@LavaTwilight Yeah you're right, I must have missed Space Invaders. Ya know though. I almost think that Donkey Kong should also be in the lineup. Pretty revolutionary in not only arcade games but platforming.

One of the great Wii games that I missed out on. No better time to get it than now I suppose.

If they are only choosing one, it should be between Pac-Man, Pong, SMB, or Tetris.

The Metroid series needs more love than any of the others. Look how many Mario characters there are. Like come on, even if it is a copy cat Samus character, I would love to either see Dark Samus or a Space Pirate in the game.

I want to be excited, but we still don't know much about it. I have read a bit about the subject, but I would like someone to confirm if this is actually going to be a physical phone/portable device, or that Nintendo will start making their classic games for iOS and Android, etc..

I'd have high hopes if this was with any other actor other than Sandler. It will probably be a pretty good movie, only for him to ruin it.

I'd like to see either SMS or F-Zero GX get an HD remaster for Wii U. They would both look gorgeous in HD.

Metroid Prime has been my favorite game for a long time, with good reason. It is THAT good! Holds up today so well.

I'd get trilogy if they remastered it in HD.

Let's be honest. Dr. Mario is the laziest excuse for a character. He is nothing more than a skin for Mario. What a waste of a character slot.

Took me a while to figure that out as well. I've been playing that as far back as I can remember in the mid 90's and I just recently figured that out a few years ago.

I got a physical copy of it, right when it came out for $49.99.

Splatoon looks so original and fun! Can't wait.

I honestly hates the sequel's controls on Wii U. The original Donkey Kong Country Returns was great with single remote and shake for roll.

I'd love to see Sin and Punishment, both No More Heroes, Little Kings Story, and Red Steel 2 come to the eshop. They are some of the only great Wii games I never owned.

I take that back, I owned the first No More Heroes but sold it a couple years after I played the crap out of it.

@FritzFrapp I dont understand why they need to make entirely new software. Is the New Nintendo 3DS a new engine. Like is it like the difference between the Gameboy and Gameboy Advance?

So do you need a "New" 3DS to use this software, or 3DS works?

I miss Nintendo Power so much! I loved the heck out of that magazine. I tried subcribing to NF magazine last year but it seemed like a difficult process and I never ended up subscribing.
