Accurate review! Don't get me wrong, I love more mario kart regardless. But people are lying to themselves if you don't see that ALL of these booster courses so far have less quality in them than the OG courses that released almost TEN YEARS AGO. Just give us MK9 already.....
I've never understood why they've been doing this in recent series. Off the top of my head is the fact that Diddy Kong is still not in Mario Kart 8, but we legitimately have five different versions of Mario in it......... He shouldn't have even needed the opporunity for DLC, he should have been in the base game.
Some of the other character rosters on other recent sports games and Mario parties have been slimmed down as well. Just doesn't make sense.
Big Metroid fan. This is pretty much exactly how I would have imagined a Metroid 64 looking and functioning if it would have come out.
It's still interesting to me that they made games for pretty much all of their other major IPs for the system, except for Metroid. Look at the Smash Bros. 64 roster. Everyone except Samus and Ness (which was a much newer series than Metroid) all got games.
Playstation does the same thing. Also, I swear on my life, last year I turned the auto renewal off, but just this past month when I figured it would be running out, I went to check and my PS Plus had recently been renewed for a whole nother year...
Cannot wait for this game! With this, Streets of Rage 4, and River City Girls, are we about to enter a new era of beat em ups? About time, count me in.
Over a 2 year span I played through all of the Zelda games in release order. I'd recommend to anyone that has the patience for it. And the games just get better and better with time. Although, if I learned one thing about doing this, it's that not only do I have zero clue how kids of the 80s beat the 2 NES Zeldas without guides, but that I'm also never going to touch Zelda 2 for the rest of my life. Absolutely brutal for all the wrong reasons.
More Mario Party Superstars boards for sure and Super Mario Galaxy 2 should be added to the e-shop in some way, shape, or form. Still baffling that it wasn't in 3D Allstars.
I don't see why they don't continually release a good amount per system each month and/or give the ability to buy some of these virtual console games outright. I would buy Mario Tennis, Castlevania Bloodlines, Contra Hard Corps, and some others. And the fact that they are holding back on a lot of other systems, Gameboy, GBA, DS, and most importantly, GameCube.
This kind of sucks.... Although, disc-based games will eventually as well. This isn't uncommon. It's kind of crazy that NES cartridges are still being played fine 35+ year later, but DS carts are already failing...
I honestly always liked the first Galaxy more anyway. Got all 121 stars with both Mario and Luigi, but something about Galaxy 2 just didn't keep my interested and I didn't come close to "100%ing" that one.
I thought I was the only one! I remember the first time I played these versions of the games on the Wii's Super Mario Allstars collection. SMB1 is objectively better on NES. The jumping through the bricks absolutely destroys momentum in this. On top of that I noticed not as close of 1 to 1 button presses as I did with the NES versions. I do agree on SMB(USA) though and SMB3 is still fine. SMB1 though, is a nightmare in this collection.
@roadrunner343 A combination of all of those factors. It gets major brownie points for hot only starting it all, but kicking off huge franchises, like Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Castlevania, etc. But beyond that, I have never encountered a console or the games that are on it, that are so easy to just sit down and jump in and play. The original SMB might be the most replayable game in history.
I stopped reading when I saw the NES was 3rd to last...... Not even an opinion. That is wrong. The NES is a far better console than the N64, GCN, Gameboy, both DS systems, and the Wii U, hands down.....
@XenoShaun Oh jeez..... that is what I feared. Hopefully they are just handling a remaster of the Prime Trilogy and someone else is still doing Prime 4.
Anyone have a short list of Bandai Namco's resume for First Person Shooters? Just curious how much they have actually developed within that genre. We don't want any Joe schmo making a game in one of the most beloved Nintendo franchises.
I can count on 1 hand the amount of games that actually used motion controls well with the Wii and not as a gimmick and Metroid Prime 3/trilogy, and RE4 lead that small group.
How are apps like this legal? It seems like a loophole app, because a lot of these games, due to distributing rights shouldn't be playable on a Nintendo console. I mean, otherwise they'd be on the switch already.
@Yalaa It really is a shame. The original Metroid Prime is pretty inarguably one of the top 10 greatest games of all-time and I think it's lifetime sales are under 2 million. I really REALLY hope Metroid Prime 4 sells well. Hell, I might even buy 2 copies myself. People don't know what they are missing out on.
Huge shame that people don't support the Metroid series like they do with the Mario or Zelda games.
Just imagine if Metroid Prime 4 got the sales that Odyssey is getting, once it comes out. This series is totally deserving of huge sales. Samus Returns on 3DS is fantastic and yet, nearly no one is buying it....
@King_Johobo Not at all! I'm right with you. The DKC games are just better than almost all side scrolling Mario games The challenge is higher, music is generally all-around better and the graphics and environments are always more eye-popping and engaging. The 2 new Donkey Kong Country reboot games on Wii and Wii U are better than nearly all side scrolling Mario games.
I have played every side-scrolling Mario game except for New Super Mario Bros. 2 and I have never understood all of the love for Super Mario World.
In my honest opinion, it doesn't even rank in my top 5 side scrolling Mario games. Yes, honestly! I've just never had the same kind of fun as I have with just about any of the others.
I can't believe enough people buy Monopoly, that it continues to get a release on every console in existence since the NES. Like why? It's Monopoly lol. The only reason I can come up with is because of the convenience of it. Don't have to mess with money or the cards.
@Hrimfaksi
I agree and I would honestly double dip and get this on Switch, as I already have it on PS4, but for full price, I'll have to pass.
Heck, I haven't even ever owned or played Skyrim and they are asking full price for that on Switch as well, whereas I could get a definitive edition of it on PS4 for $20 less.
I really REALLY want to support 3rd party and Mature games on a Nintendo console, but for these asking prices, I just can't.
I've watched some gameplay of the Switch demo version and it looks like the frame rate drop for this version is going to significantly hinder the performance unfortunately. It's really too bad, because I was highly anticipating this game.
I was on the most recent YouTube video that the official Nintendo YouTube channel posted. I believe it was titled a "CAPtivating Adventure". Anyway, the comments were filled with people complaining about "spoiler thumbnails" in the "related videos" next to that video they were watching. I happened to see one as well. It's like people are going out of their way to either ruin or just show off that they beat the game before anyone else can even get it yet. Lame
Lets be honest, it was a gimmicky fad that was utilized to build off of the 3D phenomenon back when Avatar released. VR is the next step, but it still isn't quite where it needs to be either.
Not that I care because I don't really use the 3D all too much, but any word on whether Ultra Sun and Moon will use the effect?
They definitely stocked the SNES Classic better than the NES Classic, but nevertheless, still plenty of people who couldn't get one.
I however, made absolutely certain, that I would be there first in line, largely due to the sting of not getting an NES Classic.

@LXP8 How are the first two boxarts similar? 3 and 4 are for sure. But not 1 and 2.
Re: Talking Point: Which Zelda Game Should You Play First?
I'd have to say either start with the original NES game or Wind Waker.
Played through all of the games by release order a few years ago and I loved the natural progression in gameplay/graphics, etc.

So many memories with the GameCube. Amazing games and still the biggest leap in graphics between generations.

Ninja Hideaway was super unique! I also liked Shroom Bridge.

It's Batman Arkham City, hands down. The Lego games are great too. Played the NES one. It's frustratingly difficult. Great music though.

Re: Random: Switch Owners Are Discovering Just How Frustrating Super Mario Sunshine Can Be
Galaxy is without a shred of a doubt the best of the three. And I'd argue the best 3D Mario game in general, including Odyssey and 3D World.

I honestly always liked the first Galaxy more anyway. Got all 121 stars with both Mario and Luigi, but something about Galaxy 2 just didn't keep my interested and I didn't come close to "100%ing" that one.

What I really want is an NES Classic, because I completely missed out on one and I know I'm in a large group that did.
Re: Video: Check Out The Canned Justice League Game That Almost Came To Wii
Neat. Looks like it was pretty good too. Reminds me of the Marvel: Ultimate Alliance games.
Re: Review: Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon (3DS)
10!?? Wow! Good thing I held off and didn't get the original Sun or Moon. Definitely going to pick one of these up.
I'm thinking Ultra Sun.
On a side note, is it possible to bring Pokemon all the way back from Pearl and Heart Gold to this game?
