Nintendo still hasn't caught up with Xbox's or Playstation's online service, that they started using over a decade ago. Kind of embarrassing....... how difficult is it to just make the voice chat, friend lists, parties, etc. more convenient and modernized??
I couldn't agree more with the #1. A proper Metroid needs to happen. How about a new trilogy in the vein of Prime. I have a strong hunch that this presentation will include at least the title of the Retro Studios game that they've been working on for who knows how long now.
I mean... it would be nice to play any games on an NES Mini, that is.... if I had one. Which reminds me. I went on another futile hunt for the NES Mini this weekend, stopping at multiple Targets, Walmarts, and gamestops. I was told by most of them that they told their shipping director that Nintendo has no plans to make anymore, and thus ship anymore. I'm surprised I haven't even seen any rumor articles on here, or anywhere else about that. At this point I would pay around $80 for one. Not to keen on ebay before, because I have had some unfortunate run ins with orders on there before.
Still cannot for the life of me, get an NES Mini. I just really hope they continue to restock through the year. I'm going to be really mad if I never end up getting one. I have been stoked since the first announcement about it. How ironic that I still don't have one.
I just want good third party support, a good first year of AAA first party games to garner interest for people on the fence, and ultimately that the Switch sells well.
I have been stoked to get one of these since I first heard about them, but I still have yet to get one and was hoping to get one by Christmas. Thanks Nintendo; to your failure to properly stock anything outside of Pokemon, Mario Kart, and Super Smash Bros. games.
A ridiculous price are those recent "special additions" and whatnot for PS4 and Xbox One that are around $100. That my friends, is ridiculous, especially when said games will end up being half that much in a few months after release. We are in the age of season passes, and BS special and ultimate editions and I absolutely hate it. How hard is it to just release the whole game at once? All of you suckers who actually buy into those season passes and the full price of games at launch are crazy and just supporting the prices.
@ProfessorToad People complaining that $10 is a ridiculous amount of money for this game are out of their minds. I ask you and anyone else with the same attitude about the price, do you ever go see movies at a movie theater? A movie, I might add that usually lasts between an hour and a half to 2 hours. A movie that once you paid for it and are out, there is no more value. Ok, now lets compare that to this $10 game that YOU CAN play after 2 hours, as a matter of fact after you pay the measly 10 bucks, you can play it for eternity. Are you starting to get the idea on how ridiculous you are when you address the price of this game as "ridiculous".
They will be losing a lot of sales due to people losing interest after not being able to get them. That trick can backfire too ya know Nintendo? Just ship enough and there wouldn't ever be a problem.
I've had the original launch model of the 3DS for a while now and I've been wanting to upgrade. If I were to upgrade though, I'd rather it be to the XL, it's too bad the XL also isn't getting a huge price drop. Unless, is the regular New 3DS still have enough benefits over the original to make the jump? I just figured if I upgraded I'd also want a bigger screen too.
I'm surprised to see in the poll how many people not interested in it. How could you not be excited for this thing!? The price is an absolute steal. He'll, I'd pay $60 for a Nintendo made NES controller alone.
From what I've seen of the gameplay it seems this was the evolution of the original The Legend of Zelda, as Super Mario Bros. was an evolution to the original arcade Mario Bros. Further developing an idea and vastly improving on the games gameplay and action.
Very very cool! One of my most nostalgic games from my childhood on the PS1. I had no idea that the game was ever considered for a Nintendo system, let alone the SNES.
Let's be honest. The dual screen really doesn't add too much. I rarely ever found a huge need for it for DS games that couldn't be done with one screen. And even less so with the Wii U. The Wii U has a couple really brillant uses of it, 2 of which are Zelda games. Beyond that, nothing really took advantage of it in a reallyear useful and much needed way.
You made it seem like it was obvious it would have no backwards compatibility at all. I will agree with you on not being able to play Wii U discs. That was pretty obvious manner, but I really thought there was a good chance it would be able to play 3DS games especially with that card slot.
I'm definitely on board with this. I am very curious about the dock though. Is it just a dock, or does it improve power while playing on TV as well? Also we got a small snippet of a cartridge I'd like to see official photos of those too.
I'm very excited, but I need to keep my expectations reasonable. I advise all of you to do so as well. Because I will bet my 3DS and brand new Wii U that come this time tomorrow night, there will be a mob of angry people whining about it. Just don't get your hopes too high and you'll be fine
It is far too late for it to be released this year. If they were going to do that, they should have revealed it months ago. I could definitely see a reveal in the near future, but even to me that doesn't make sense with the holidays coming up, it would just confuse people and it would be a missed opportunity.
Okay I understand they apparently gave some "vision" for having these games on the go, but would it hurt to make a proper Pokémon adventure game for a home console. That should be a primary push for the NX. The system would sell so much better with a Pokémon game on it within the first 2 years of the launch of the system.
At this point I am basically set up for disappointment. All I want is a non gimmicks, straight forward home video game console. Hell, I'd almost say go ahead and remake and redesign the NES console for this NX, but I could see how that would be confusing for consumers with the NES mini coming out. Oh wait but Nintendo knows all about confusing their consumers ahem.... Wii U.
One of the things I hate is that now there will be like 5 different amiibos for link. None of them really react differently for any of the games except for Toon Link with SSB. It's all just for aesthetics
I'd really have to go back and look, but could someone explain the difference to me between 50hz and 60hz? I take it that it doesn't have to do with picture quality but more so with how fast actions are produced on the screen?
I still attribute the 2 biggest factors to the Wii U's failure being the name itself and the fact that compared to PS4 and Xbox One, I never remember seeing many commercials for it.
I can definitely say that I know plenty of "video game savvy" people and many of them either thought the Wii U was just an add-on to the original Wii, or hadn't even heard of the Wii U in general. And this was 2-3 years into the console's lifespan. There's your problem. Marketing and awareness for your product and it's specific features.
I just started playing this recently. Probably my 15th playthrough total, but first in the HD version. I just recently looked back at your original Wii review and I couldn't believe you guys not only gave it an 8, but went further on to say it was one of the weakest in the franchise. I personally believe that this is not only arguably the best Zelda, but one of the top 10 greatest video games of all-time. Such an incredible experience.
I just bought myself one last week. My family has had one since launch, but I thought it was finally time to have one of my own. I have been having a blast with it took such a shame the Wii U hasn't gotten the attention that it definitely deserves. I think it is leagues ahead of PS4 and Xbox One in terms of "fun value" and the quality of games available. Please do the NX right Nintendo. Please let this one be a success!
@Al_Godoy Ever played 007 Nightfire? I thought that was far superior. I still think Nightfire is the best James Bond game, right next to the original Goldeneye 007.
Wow...... you even have an honorable mentions section and Resident Evil REmake didn't even make that. REmake is easily one of the greatest games ever crafted, let alone for the Gamecube.
@JaxonH Um..... Hello! 3rd party support! And with it, the success of the entire machine. They are already beginning to dig their own grave. Stupid business decisions. It's not about how much better Mario can look. It's about keeping support from 3rd party developers. Also, first party games like Metroid, F-Zero, and Zelda can benefit with more power. I mean, I rest my case with Star Fox Zero....
@ParSnake I have many concerns about this news and that is by far my #1 concern. They wonder why they lose 3rd party support. It's because of BS like this! They make it too difficult for other companies to make games for their system. It is so frustrating!
Why?..... why? I know power isn't everything, but come on.... only a little stronger than the PS3. And why this hybrid handheld and home console thing. Why can't Nintendo just give us a standard console with a standard controller? Always with the gimmicks.
This looks great!! I cannot wait! Lol Nintendo didn't even have an official press conference and in my eyes they just destroyed at E3. Sony had a great show, but this trailer alone just beat most of their show. Well done Nintendo. I would kind of like to hear more about the NX though. What is the latest rumor on when it is supposed to get released.
So with all of the tall of Nintendo thinking about getting into the movie business, wouldn't it be great to have a fully CGI mario brothers movie done right!?
Best part about this is that I can't be extremely disappointed like I was last year, because my expectations are at absolute rock bottom right now.... right where it seems Nintendo wants us to be. I don't get why we can't at least get the name of the NX or some new news. It makes no sense to not include it at all.
I sure wish I would have kept all of my Gameboy boxes, or at the very least, the instruction manuals. I don't like selling my games, but I like keeping stuff like that, because it is really cool to look at, years down the road.
Completely agree with the review. I have to say after beating the game a day ago, some of the only flaws I could find, were the no info for the moves, Psychic Pokémon are wayyyyyy overpowered, and the difficulty spike right at the Elite Four is still as relentless as I remembered as a kid. Otherwise near perfect games. Classics that everyone should try. I'd still rather boot up the originals than most of the newer games. Bring on a re-remake of the originals!!!

Now what they need is a TV with glasses free 3D. Too bad it would probably be like $10,000 for a 50 incher.
