Nicalis has been a prolific publisher in the first year of the Nintendo Switch, in some cases with retail titles. It's dipping more into affordable downloads now, however, and another to add to the list will be VVVVVV; it'll arrive on 17th November priced $9.99USD or 9,99€ in Europe.
Originally developed by Terry Cavanagh, this was a title that was a bit of an early gem on the 3DS eShop, keeping us hooked with its deceptively simple visuals and tough puzzle platforming. As for what this Switch version will offer, Nicalis promises smooth 60fps gameplay while the trailer shows off multiplayer.

Will you be picking this up on Switch?

Gave me a bad headache every time I tried playing it on 3DS. I also got repeatedly lost and frustrated. I still ended up liking the game overall, though. The multiplayer in this version would be enticing if I had someone to play with.
YAY! I have a friend who absolutely loves this game, will have to play with him sometime.
It’s a great little game that I played and beat on the Mac. Excellent music and humor to go along with the challenging platforming. If you want to 100% it, some of the collectibles are insanely ludicrously hard to pick up. Recommended if you like Slime-San. There is one escort mission that will drive you nuts, though.
It’s hard to imagine being able to play this in co-op without breaking either the console or your partner’s face, though.
Once of my favorite indie games of all-time, definitely double dipping on the Switch version.
Looking forward to loudly cursing and raging at a videogame in public again. Again as in after having already done so a buncha times with the 3DS version.
Bought this on 3DS but it didn't hold my attention for long.
Another port.... blah blah blah... just kidding! It’s always great to have a game available on more systems.
It was good but i might pass given my back catalog...now if I got a discount for buying it again...maybe. I don't know.
I enjoyed this on the 3DS when the eShop didn't have as many great options as it does now.
...I don't really feel the need to play it again though.
A brilliant game, one I'll mark down for a replay if I ever catch up on my Switch backlog (so probably never at this rate)
Absolute no brainer for me. Hoo boy, here comes the triple dip.
I LOVED this game on 3DS! I was already tempted to buy it again just to have it on switch and so my siblings can play it, but multiplayer too?! Now I really am unsure I can resist.
@bluesdance I still remember that "veni, vidi, vici" collectible with fear
Is it just me, or does the theme music remind anyone else of Guile’s Theme from Street Fighter II?
Any talks of a physical release?
I have always seen this game and never played it... might be time for a change!
That's a slightly toasty price, but it really is good enough to warrant it. Won't be double dipping though. Unless...
@KnightRider666
We should poke those Limited Run guys.
That's awesome! They doubled the framerate and the number of players! The only thing that bothered me on 3ds was the crappy framerate. So happy to hear it's going to be released with a 60 fps upgrade.
@Pod: Not a bad idea.
I have played this multiple times and I am still excited about this. One of my favorite indie games. Just pure, perfectly frustrating fun.
As a side question, does anyone know how to pronounce the name? Saying “vvvvvv” seems wrong lol
I liked it on 3DS, but didn't finish it. Playing it on a larger screen will be nice.
@sr_388
WELL.
You COULD say "double-u double-u double-u".
Yeah but can I still use it to hack my Swit.... oh wait
This is a classic. A much older game that's been around but, it's still a classic.
I'll pick it up. My Switch has kind of transformed into an all star lineup of the best games available for the system. If it's good, I own it. And this is a good game... so I will own this too
I wonder if the Other modes will be present, the ESRB rating doesn't have language in it...
@sr_388 I personally either say just "V" or "V 6 times"
Yes! An excuse to replay this game? Sign me up!
It was fun 5 years ago. So, Why not?
veeveeveeveeveeveeveeveeveeorwhatever
I recommend this one. There's something that feels really good about clearing a difficult part after a few attempts. Also, the soundtrack rocks.
Could've had a V8.
Sweet Samson!! I was literally thinking about when this would be announced! It better get a physical realese
Idk about multiplayer, but I couldn't be more stoked that VVVVVV is coming to Switch! Having dropped about 4+ hours into it myself, I'd say that it's one of the weirdest, most unforgiving, and epicly awesome titles I've ever played!
@Natzore YEAH!!! INSANE
