A few months ago, it was revealed that THQ Nordic had set plans to bring back various Nickelodeon games from the early to mid 2000’s for a new generation, possibly with sequels to those games being on the table. It was a surprising announcement, but not necessarily an unwelcome one, given the strong IP on offer and that all-important nostalgia value. Though there hasn’t since been anything else to report on this front, a new GameStop listing seems to indicate what one of the first games from this initiative will be.
A game called Nickelodeon Kart Racers has shown up in the database, marked for a 23rd October release date, although there are no screenshots or boxart to go along with the listing. Some of you may remember Nicktoons Racing, a Mario Kart-esque game featuring Nickelodeon character that saw a debut on Gameboy Color, before being ported to various other platforms. It received two sequels, one on PC and one in arcades, though the franchise has been dormant since 2009. If this listing turns out to be accurate, it would seem that THQ Nordic is looking to bring back the racing series with a fourth entry.

Better have people like Zim and Danny Phantom
Yet another kart racer huh?
I stopped caring about these kart racers after I got Mario Kart 8 DX, and that was a launch game.
Fred Rechid for Nickelodeon Kart!
I remember playing the arcade version years ago, not sure if I would buy the Switch sequel but those were good times.
Well since I skipped out on MK8Deluxe...I guess I'll be getting this in its place.
Too... many... racing... games... being... released...
Too...much...HYPE
Could be worse, it could of been Nick Live Action Kids Sitcoms Racing.
This and that Hunting game are only ones that i care about coming to switch.
maybe the Ghostbuster game.
It would be cool to see TMNT in a kart racer.
What?
Oh, I get it-- Those people on Twitter can finally stop asking for iCarly on Switch, because here it is!!
It's no Battle for Bikini Bottom HD...but it could be good fun! If it isn't an overly simplified version of the Mario Kart formula with boring gameplay and bland track design, that is.
This sounds like a game that would have been developed in the late 90's/early 2000's. Are modern children even going to know who any of these characters are, apart from Spongebob?
I am not sure who this game is meant to appeal to. Aside from Spongebob, most of these characters are from shows that are long gone. Perhaps they will reboot the game with characters from shows kids of today would know.
Remember guys, NL is going off a listing and nothing more, so that headline image is not indicative of which characters may even appear.
This is still a thing? Are they still crap?
@Ralizah I would imagine to reach today’s audience, they’ll include characters from some current shows (along with some nostalgic picks). Most likely a shoe in? Characters from The Loud House, Nickelodeon’s current hit toon. Or Shimmer and Shine. Paw Patrol is probably a given
The 90s are very much alive in the article header.
Not sure why. Haven't those cartoons been off the air for a while now? I have a hard time imagining who is this marketed to. Same as the board game Nickolodean Splat Attack – I think the only characters in it that are still on air are SpongeBob and Patrick Star. Kids definitely do not care for Ren and Stimpy.
Pfft, call me when they announce Nickelodeon vs. Capcom.
@Aerona I ship Spongebob and Morrigan.
Wow the shovelware is piling up now! These characters and their shows have been off air in Australia for at least a decade now... Do they really expect this will sell?
@SmaggTheSmug : That's a very good point. They seem to be legacy properties from the "good old days" of Nickelodeon, barring Spongebob, which is still on the air (and is perhaps Nick's longest running franchise?).
Many of Nickelodeon's classics are available on home video and possibly streaming, so many of these old shows have reached young audiences.
If they go through the trouble of sourcing the original voice actors to reprise their roles, especially for any Rugrats characters, then I would consider this. I'm not particularly keen on owning any more kart racers. Mario Kart and at least one semi-realistic racing sim (usually Need For Speed) per generation is enough for me.
i still have the original nicktoon racers.
Totally unrelated but I hope RedOut for Nintendo Switch hasn't been canceled. I'd double dip for it =(

@Popplio @JayJ - Yet another kart racer? Aside from this unreleased game and the unreleased Sonic Racing, what other decent kart games are on Switch besides MK8?
@Angelic_Lapras_King if it was the 90s that wouldn’t be bad! Alex Mack, Artie, Barth, Buttkus, Suzie, Clarissa, Kel
I’d play that
I thought Nickelodeon didn't associate themselves with Ren & Stimpy anymore after those adult cartoons?
Could actually be kinda cool--but probably won't.
@Angelic_Lapras_King that would be hilarious actually. Imagine playing as Drake and Josh.
I remember playing the original so much with my mam and brother.
I remember being in awe when it was revealed that plankton (?) was the mystery rider.
In saying that i probably wouldnt pick this up despite the nostalgia.
@Santoria : Dude, I’ve had RedOut preordered for a year and a half now. For the life of me, I cannot figure out why I don’t give up and by the XBox One version, which is both cheaper and immediately available...
So we saw earlier in the week that there were 10 new SKU in GameStop system. I wonder if this was one of them. Saw GameStop also updated their site to show Goosebumps, Ninja Warrior, Rapala Pro Series and Big Buck Hunter Arcade. Kinda anti-climatic is these were 5 of those 10 SKUs
Mario Kart.
People do realize THQ Nordic said they'd be porting OLD Nintendo titles to modern platforms right? This isn't a new game, article is very misleading.
@link3710 How is it misleading? They're referencing a listing on GameStop for a game called Nickelodeon Racers. Which, as far as I can tell, isn't an existing game. Of course, they could be re-releasing NickToons Racing with a brand new title. But its perfectly valid to speculate whether or not this is a new title considering there isn't an existing Nickelodeon Racers
Some sites have attributed these to GameMill-- because the distributor (Solutions 2 Go) is also the same for all five announced offerings.. But the higher price and lack of box art may be reason to hope that this is THQ-Nordic.
Character roster: spongebob Patrick Lincoln Lynn Mike Ralph Henry danger Alvin red ranger bella
