Lots of good stuff there. Think I already own everything I want though.
Carrion was amazingly fun. Would have liked a map feature, but once I figured out the general layout of the map, I didn't have much trouble getting around and obtaining everything.
Katana Zero is also incredible. Tight gameplay and a surprisingly gripping story.
Katana Zero it is then!
For those who haven't played Carrion, Pikuniku, and Minit yet, these are some great games at a vey nice price. There are other great ones on this list as well, that I loved playing, like Ape Out, but the three I mentioned first are the ones I'd recommend most for enjoyment / price.
Carrion is among my favourite games, period. Still waiting for my physical version, but I've finished it 100% for like six times now (they sent a download code with every physical pre-order).
Pikuniku is absolute silly fun. Nothing more, nothing less.
Minit is just an awesome little game. And beyond it simply being great, it literally has "vegan mode" in the options. Like Knights and Bikes pleasantly surprised me with a vegetarian mode. I love these touches in games.
Gris was good. Mostly because of the stunning visuals, but its also a pretty good platformer. It feels pretty good to control by the end once you have all of your abilities.
Its short game, but at this price, definitely worth it.
Also, get Downwell if you're into punishingly difficult roguelikes. Its low price is because of its small world and simple mechanics, but has nothing to do with its quality
That is a deep discount for Talos! I have been wanting that one.
Downwell is a fantastic little game - very unlikely that will be a regretted purchase at that price
I have 8 of those. All at least decent and most good. Talos Principle stands out the most out of those.
I absolutely loved Gris, but its so hard to recommend at $16.99. Its definitely worth the $7 price point. (If your into artsy fartsy stuff, at least)
Devolver is pretty consistent in their quality of indie games, so more than half of this list are no-brainers
Would anyone here recommend The Red Strings Club and Mother Russia Bleeds?
Those are great deals. I might pick up Ape Out - it's a game I've been eyeing for a while. I did purchase Lonely Mountains Downhill. It wasn't as cheap as I think it could have been, but what the hell? I'm in the mood for something different, and that game is certainly different than most games I typically play.
Good price point for GRIS. I really recommend that game. It was an emotional experience for me.
For what its worth, here's some hot takes:
Recommend:
Hotline Miami
Everything about this is amazing
Carrion
Controls are a joy
You 100% do not need a map
Ape Out
Hotline Miami is similar but better in every way
Still a great game
Gato Roboto
Nice and tight little Metroid-like
Reigns
Simple yet cool game to relax and kill time
Better suited to mobile
Cheaper on mobile
Don't recommend:
Katana Zero
Overrated story (tries too hard to be cool)
Frustrating/inconsistent mechanics
Talos Principle
Puzzles are not nearly as fun as say Portal, QUBE, or Antichamber
Didn't come even close to finishing it so it could get better?
Finally going to get Gris (which has been on my wishlist for awhile now)!
Edit: Also got Wandersong!
@Desrever
Agree wholeheartedly!
Gris at this price point is a must if you enjoy story and artsy games indeed!
Shame it’s not UK store, got eShop credit and I like the look of My Friend Pedro
I had fun with Pikiniku. Beat it twice. So much quicker the 2nd time around, once you knew everything. But still fun none-the-less.
Yes!
I'll grab my friend pedro at this price, thank you!!
Got enter the gungeon two weeks ago Already got the Robot and the bullet and parodox 4 past Still got a long way to go.
I agree with others about Gris, the artwork alone is worth the price.
I did get Pikuniku the last time it was discounted and it was okay for the price.
I am on the fence about getting Talos. It was on my wishlist, but there are so many other games on my wishlist!
KZero is f'n awesome
Read this thread for recommendations, picked up a few games for the Thanksgiving travels and holiday! Kids (and me) already loving Pikuniku. Gris looks great too, and also grabbed Minit.
my fav publisher, for sure!
can recommend enough of GUNGEON, GRIS and APEOUT
maybe I'll get RUINER and DITTO even knowing that I have at least 50 unplayed games sitting on my switch
Enter the Gungeon is awesome despite the fact that I suck and I don't seem to get anywhere.
I also bought Katana last year when these were on sale. I've only played it for about 30 minutes. I couldn't get into the controls so I moved on. I'll revisit it at some point.
I recommend buying "Gris" for its music alone. It is whimsical.
Dōmo arigatō, Gato Roboto!
Time to pick up broforce...
From the moment Gris loaded up to the title screen I somehow knew I was in for something special. I didn't read any reviews or watch any videos and I went on an emotional trip like never before. It's PURE bliss, something about this game which it almost isn't a game in some respects. After I beat it I read something about the lead developer explain he wanted people to go on this journey and it's literally meant to be about yourself and different emotions etc..
It is EASILY my most recommended game out of them all.
I’d recommend Broforce, Gato Roboto and Enter the Gungeon at those prices, but probably nothing else.
@Smug43 I played this on Steam on my 27” monitor. How tiny does the protagonist get in it? It zoomed out way far a few times and made her super small, so I’m curious how big she was on the switch size screen in those sections.
@John_Deacon
Red Strings Club was dope for a point and click.
Mother Russia Bleeds is freaking rad. You will have your butt handed to you until you learn it’s unique mechanics.
Gris is a walking simulator.
@everynowandben
I’m going to have to agree to disagree with you on Katana Zero. I think the core gameplay elements are super addictive and fun. As you may know, only half the time is the actual gameplay. While that is normally my worst nightmare, I think the developer went above and beyond and manages to make an intriguing mindtrip of an experience that is more than just a video game. True, the storyline and dialogue are a mix of edgelord irony and feels, but it really just services the experience.
@Whalehome not very big however not enough to affect the gameplay
