I'm really only excited for Taiko no Tatsujin. I've completely lost my interest for Immortals Fenyx Rising, I'm bad at Tetris (I know, embarrassing), and Phogs and Doom Eternal I still have a chance of getting, but this month doesn't interest me too much.
Probably Taiko and Saga for me this month.
Interested in DOOM Eternal, Collection of SaGa and Fire Emblem. Would love to have the games on cartridge, but oh well...
Haven't finished the first Puyo Puyo Tetris, so won't pick up the second one until I'm done with the first.
Rather sad they delayed the Turrican compilation to January 29th
Probably Nintendo’s least interesting holiday line up, in a very long time. True, there are couple good ones on that list, to be be sure. But man, ugh...
Also, something I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks... the deafening silence that is Bayonetta 3. Not. A. Peep. I have my unsubstantiated theory on that quiet noise. That being, they’re saving it for a cross gen upgrade to the new Switch. Just a prediction. That I hope is true.
getting FE and that's it.
Fire Emblem here.
I am curious how comprehensive the SaGa collection is.
How many of the games are in it?
Got Empire of Sin pre-loaded and ready to go. Debating on Immortals. Doom Eternal for sure, but that may have to wait til after Xmas.
Extremely interested in Taiko, since I own a drum set now.
Fire Emblem might not be a day one buy, although I'll be sure to nab it before March.
Collection of SaGa is a maybe. I'll wait for a review.
@Mariotag It contains Final Fantasy Legend I - III. All titles for the original Game Boy.
Collection of SaGa and FE are some great retro options. The former is even more enticing given recent news of another game in the Series getting a Switch version.
Don't forget, Ori physical versions drop in Dec. I've been waiting to play Will of the Wisps cause this double dipping habit of mine is killing my wallet.
Very excited to finally play it!
Collection of SaGa, and Fire Emblem are day 1s for me. Doom eternal will have to wait unfortunately.
On a side note, wasn't Scott pilgrim supposed to release in December?
@Ralizah I’d love the Taiko drum controller but they’re like £90 over here. I find the A/B controls seriously difficult, at least compared to using Left/Right click when playing the levels in Osu.
Lots of good games out right now for the Switch!!!
Doom please and thank you
It says something that I'm most excited about a port of a NES era Fire Emblem title than anything else on this list. Collections of SaGa look interesting too. Not much else interests me though.
No worries, I got plenty in the backlog still!
FE is the only game I might pick up on that list.
@Mariotag It's just the first 3 games for the original Game Boy. The price is right at $20 but it's 3 really old Game Boy RPG's and the oldest, most simple games in the series. They made a few enhancements but nothing special.
I'm quite excited for December between Doom Eternal and the Bit Trip games. The Bit Trip series is just about as close to perfect as I think any series of games can be. Those games are art without a doubt. Played the heck out of them on Wii and 3DS, and I'll gladly revisit them on Switch. Core is my favorite game in the series. Something about the rhythm of the songs and the accompanying backgrounds is just mesmerizing to me. Freaking love the songs in stage 2 (Exploration) and stage 3 (Control) of Core. I love Void too. Very abstract and surreal but also very addictive. Anybody else a Bit Trip junkie like me?
The developers also hinted on Twitter that Runner 2 is coming (said "Stay tuned" when asked about it). Hope it's not far behind.
I'm also grabbing Fire Emblem in the hopes that we get more games localized. I'd love it if we ended up getting the Jugdral games and Binding Blade localized.
Oh and then there's John Wick Hex. I love the films, and I've heard Hex is a pretty fun game. I do enjoy strategy games, so I'll give it a look.
December 2020 should be this game.

Pretty Princess Party
My GOTY 2020. 😆
@Heavyarms55 your not alone. I am the same way on the games listed here. FE is the only thing I am buying. Might get saga collection but I am on the fence with that. I am also working through my backlog too just like you. Lol
@Riku3456 I feel like we missed a big Nintendo first party release this season. I guess Hyrule Warriors is being pushed as that, but it's very much a Warriors game. It has Nintendo flavor, but it's still built like a 3rd party game. There've been probably a few dozen Warriors games by now.
It's like Nintendo has more plans but because the world is messed up right now had to delay them, and managed to keep them quiet enough so that they wouldn't have to announce any delays.
No 'Day 1' purchases here for me, but I am considering picking up Empire of Sin and Fenyx Rising when a discount comes around, and possibly the former without if I manage to clear my backlog.
For now I still have Hyrule Warriors: AOC to work my way through, and I picked up Ni No Kuni when it was massively discounted the other week and haven't made a start yet.
Most excited for Scott pilgrim and shadow dragon. Can’t wait to pickup the physical for it on Friday. December seems to have some decent rollout for releases as well as all the sales going on.
Fire emblem, Scott Pilgrim and Collection of saga. Pitty both FE and CoS collectors editions aren't available in Europe.
I'm getting FE even though I've played that one, because I'm weak, and I may get Taiko, though I already have one rhythm game with expensive dlc in the form of Project Diva.
Probably 6 there on that list I will DL. Not necessarily in December though. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, Taiko, FE & Fitness B2 first I think. Doom Eternal, Fenyx later with a price drop sale thingy.
Isn't Scott Pilgrim out in December too?
Need a review for SAGA and Wildfire
@nessisonett It cost me $86 or so after tax and shipping. A bit on the expensive side, but I've wanted to try one out for years now. Unfortunately, the base Taiko game is a bit thin, so I'm hoping the RPG works properly with the drum. Not sure how your supposed to move well with a drum, though.
Just Fire Emblem for me. And maybe Puyo Puyo if it lacks the annoying characters of the original one.
I might be up for Wildfire or Taiko, but probably not this month.
I absolutely hate that they are releasing Fire Emblem in English as a thing you have to buy separately (for a limited time at that) when the Japanese version is in the Famicom service. Unless they also release the basic version without the QOL updates but localization to NES archive, then I will be less grumpy.
Might pick up Fire Emblem, even though there are a ton of other FE games I would have preferred to be quite honest.
Fenyx and Doom I will check out on XSX or PS5 when the time comes and I am in the mood for it. Fenyx looks like an impressive effort on Switch, but the visual downgrades are still very much substantial.
@Heavyarms55 agreed. 2020 has been a mess with Nintendo and video games in general. At least it's given me a chance to work on my backlog which was huge.
It sucks that hyrule warriors AOC was pushed as that holiday game because I hate warriors/musou style games. I played so many of them that they all have the same story style and gets surprisingly boring after playing it for a few hours. Just my honest opinion.
Inmortals and Doom Eternal. What a month! Great end of year, no doubt.
thanks for the information, maybe Doom Eternal after finish the Fenyx Immortals, and looking forward to play brave default II on 2021 following with MHR.
Maybe I'm becoming a (more) boring person because a have a huge backlog and so many great games to play, but it seems a rather weak lineup for a holiday season. Either these games are nothing that big or I just can't get how good something in the list is
Of course Doom is a good choice and PPT is the kind of thing I'm always playing but maybe later
Just Fire Emblem, maybe DOOM Eternal if people find a way around the Bethesda account requirement (I stopped playing Rocket League after it forced you to create an Epic Games account to play earlier this year).
@Realness I'd probably go with 2018 as the least interesting Switch holiday lineup. Smash Ultimate is a good game but Nintendo focused on that game way too much in the 2nd half of 2018 making it a boring holiday season.
Some decent choices there. My problem is I don't feel enough incentive to buy these games, at least at present. Taiko is tempting, but lack of physical irks me, so will wait for that one. Doom Eternal is similar, not to mention, I just snagged a copy for PS4 at £16. Puyo Puyo Tetris 2, I am not sure there is enough difference between this and the original so will wait for that. Ghostrunner is tempting, but last I heard, there are technical problems on the PS4 version, so I want to see how it handles on Switch first.
Everything else (except Fire Emblem) I am either not interested, or I think it is too expensive for what it is.
Fire Emblem is the only one I am interested in (and have pre-ordered), if for no other reason than to not only play the first one legitimately in English (not including the DS remake), but I am hoping this may lead to further English releases of older Fire Emblem titles.
Isn't Ghostrunner already out for switch?
Very surprised that nintendo doesn't have a really big release game...something in the form of Mario or Zelda or even Pokemon for the holiday season, but in all honesty, they don't really need it. PS5 and the new X-box are sold out and the cheaper buy is the Switch console, PS4 and XBONE. I'm suggesting, that even though the new ones are sold out and selling like crazy, Switch will become the best console to purchase for the holiday and will reign as the number one item afterwards, but only because of the limited supplies of the other two consoles. PS4 I'm guessing will sell very well too.
Back to the topic, Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 for me and possibly another, but other than that, trying to play catch up with other titles, and it's also going by what my kids want at the time being.
@JLPick in the last few months they released a Mario Kart “thing”, a Mario collection and a Zelda spin off. Just because something isn’t out in Dec doesn’t they haven’t released something for the holidays.
It’s December. Where’s my Scott Pilgrim!
@jump Never did I say that they needed to. Many companies have a big game that comes out in December to keep the momentum going. Nintendo has done this in the past, and they have nothing big planned for the month.
We finally get Doom Eternal?!?!?!?!
Do we know the storage size?
Puyo the only thing here that interests me really
I probably get door kickers from qubic games since i like RTS games.
TOTALLY forgot about fire emblem! I have Shadow Dragon on DS but ... yeah I’ll buy it.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand The Demo sold me on Fenyx Rising, and while it does borrow a lot from BotW it is a much different overall experience. It is just unfortunate that there is only a Stadia Demo and none for other platforms.
@Jokerwolf Lol I'm probably not going to try the Stadia demo, I already have a bad taste in my mouth from the launch.
I still remember when super smash bros ult came out on my birthday.
@HotGoomba___Rebrand The demo is free at least on all account levels, no investment needed. I just wished they had released a Switch and console demo.
@Jokerwolf Eh if it's free, I might bite, but even if I like the demo, I have to start playing Breath of the Wild first because I'm S L O W .
Fire Emblem "only available until March 31st. If you want to buy it on April 1st, please understand you just cannot play it. Please don't pirate it after April 1st even though we won't want to let you pay us money for this game that we have no good reason to arbitrarily stop selling."
Nintendo, you whine about piracy but then release a new Fire Emblem with a more BS sales pitch than BS Fire Emblem had and wonder why.
Just having read Valve Lord Gabe's Tweet implying that Nintendo's "piracy epidemic" may in at least a little part be a cause of their own actions.
I mean I'm still going to legitimately download it (as people should while it is officially available), but that doesn't mean their hypocrisy shouldn't be pointed out.
I’ll probably buy Fire Emblem day 1, just to show Nintendo that I’d appreciate it if they translated more of their Japan only games.
As far as I understand, there’s no physical edition for Europe?
Fire Emblem and Puyo Puyo Tetris 2 😀
Fire Emblem, Phogs and Final Fantasy legend for me.
Wished Doom Eternal was physical on Switch. Still need to go back and thoroughly finish Doom 2016. I’ve just been playing Age of Calamity, doing every side quest before each mission. I even gave Super Mario Bros 35 a break. Fire Emblem and SaGa Collection are both preordered. Those are both small downloads and inexpensive.
Interested in the Taiko RPG & SaGa collections, but who knows if I'll ever get to them.
I'll be lucky if I can finish off Xenoblade Chronicles: Definitive Edition before the month is out. Money saved for other things, I guess.
I was going to get Immortals but preordered Hyrule for the cool key-chain and I have to get caught up on work before I buy anymore stuff.
I might get Wildfire as a quick metroidvania to play just before Cyberpunk 2077
Definitely getting Fire Emblem, will probably wait for sales for SaGa and Puyo Puyo Tetris.
Fire Emblem and SaGa for sure, probably Puyo Puyo Tetris and Taiko at a later date
Um, what about John Wick Hex?
doom Eternal nuff said
It's amazing how many of these games should have had a physical release, but didn't. Taiko no Tatsujin (because Bamco USA doesn't understand that the point of a drumming game is to be able to play a dang drum), Collection of SaGa: Final Fantasy Legend (which I suppose is a niche series, but more than the Mana series? idk)... even Fire Emblem for the fact that even the special edition includes a digital copy, and especially DOOM Eternal, which probably was going to have a physical release before the game was delayed.
These are trying times for those of us who don't use a very big memory card, and like their games on a shelf...
