Update #3: Nintendo has now resumed the distribution of Switch System Update 12.0.3.
According to Twitter's translation service, the statement reads as follows:
We have resumed distribution of system version 12.0.3 of Nintendo Switch, which was suspended. After updating to 12.0.3, if an error occurs while downloading the game software or update data and the download stops, please check the following Q & A.
If you cannot start using the microSDXC card, insert the microSDXC card while connected to the Internet and update the main unit according to the displayed screen. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.
Update #2 [Wed 9th Jun, 2021 05:05 BST]: Nintendo's Japanese customer support on Twitter has shared a message about the suspension of the latest Switch system update.
Users who have updated to the latest firmware may experience network connection issues and microSDXC cards may encounter issues if they're being used for the first time.
It's working on a solution and will share an update when the issue has been resolved.
Nintendo of America's support page has also shared a message noting how it will update the "system updates and change history" section as soon as the distribution is resumed.
"As of June 8th, we have temporarily stopped distributing system update version 12.0.3 (released June 7th, 2021 at 5:00 PM PDT). This message will be updated when distribution is resumed."
Update #1: In what appears to be a first, Nintendo has stopped distribution of the Switch's Version 12.0.3 system update just hours after it first became available.
No reason for the sudden halt has been announced by Nintendo at this stage, although some fans are speculating that the update may have caused unintended errors for those who had downloaded it. If you haven't yet updated your console to Version 12.0.3, you no longer have the option to do so (at the time of writing, at least).
We'll make sure to update you here if we hear more.
Original Article (Tue 8th Jun, 2021 01:30 BST): Just over a week out from its E3 Direct, Nintendo has released a new firmware update for the Switch.
While we were hoping for some surprises, it seems it's the same update as last month - stability. It's taking us back to the glorious days of the 3DS when this was the main focus.
Here are the full patch notes for update 12.0.3, courtesy of Nintendo's official support page:
Ver. 12.0.3 (Released June 7, 2021)
General system stability improvements to enhance the user's experience.
Nintendo dataminer OatmealDome has shared some extra details about what this update appears to contain. Here's the full rundown:
If we hear anything else about what this latest patch might do, we'll let you know. Have you downloaded this firmware update yet? Notice anything else? Tell us down below.

insert usual stability joke here
More random patches
So stable and i can put 12 horses into my Nintendo Switch. 😆
@Joeynator3000 on it.
HOLY &[email protected]#! IS THAT A MOTHAFLUPPIN STABILITY IMPROVEMENT?!
(sees article headline)
Oh god 🙄
(prepares for disappointment and clicks link)
(even more disappointed) 😆
Well, I mean, most updates outside of major ones are just bug fixes, so I wouldn't be surprised.
RUMOUR: Nintendo Switch update 13.0.0 will upgrade all Nintendo Switch consoles to "Pro", which will artificially drain the battery faster, and increase the contrast ever so slightly, beguiling millions into Nintendo's cunning placebo effect. Twitter set to cancel Digital Foundry for daring to expose the reality to delusional fans.
All I saw was the switch image and handing dead the headline, and all I thought of was a new switch that hadn't been shown!
So of course it would be a minor stability update.
updated. ....... now, back to playing the beginning of BOTW for the 4th or 5th time. Got to Impa, upgraded my bombs at Hateno - who needs silly weapons. Got the blue champions shirt. Now trying to earn money to buy the stealth suit a Kakriko Village. ....staying WAY clear of Lynels with since I have so few health heart containters🤪
I like the sub title, "stability pro". Nice one Liam.
Oh thank got this has fixed every issue of the switch like you now nothing just fix nso
I do love myself some good STABILITY!
I wish Nintendo would do a big update soon. We need folders!
Watch someone take this as evidence that a switch pro reveal is happening this week.
My sources are telling me this IS the switch pro
@Anti-Matter I hate this joke, And its sooo good.
@N00BiSH your profile pic made me laugh to hard. been wanting to tell you that for a wile.
Its so stable that I can now place my switch on the top of the space needle.
Okay, what breadcrumbs are they feeding us now?
What minuscule thing hidden away in the update is yet another clue towards the existence of a Switch Pro?
Wait till the people search the metadata and config files and whatnot, they will start a whole new round of rumors.
@Joeynator3000
I was thinking of writing almost the exact same thing!
If the only the Middle East was this stable!
Nice. I wasn't using my Switch lately because the stability was so so horrible. Ok maybe not. Hehe
Now, if only games were this stable... like PC games.
@Silly_G apple did that with its iPhones slowed them down on purpose so people would be more willing to upgrade to the latest one
I don't understand why people get so butthurt about minor patches.
I get that people want more from updates. I want actual new content too. But I don't see any reason whatsoever to be annoyed about bug fixes and updates to the "bad word list".
This is fantastic, my switch won't stop crashing when I press a button. I'm going to go update it right now!
Came here for the jokes about switch pro, you guys made me proud on just about 28 comments or so 🥲
well done
Nintendo: "Perfectly balanced, as all things should be"
This was probably a stolen joke.
Consider my experience enhanced
Why can Nintendo not do an instability update?
Idk why but i still laugh at the dumb stability jokes lol why does nintendo keep doing this to us?? And does anybody even really notice if there really is more stability??
Just saw a rumor article a second ago on another site claiming the new Switch would support 120 FPS in handheld. These rumors are just getting absurd...
I woke up today thinking that the Switch could use a stability patch. Yes.
With this my mind now saying this to me: there is now 1% or less chance left that stronger Nintendo Switch models is being revealed this week or even at E3. :/
Has anyone else been getting Error Code 2123-1502 when trying to download a game or update over the last several days? I can surf the eShop and even play games like Pacman 99 online but can't download a single thing.
I thought maybe it was just me but read on another site that others have been getting this error, too, and this system update may be a fix for it. Unfortunately, I can't download the system update, either. Oops.
i approve of the stability update cuz i couldnt play monster hunter online much without dcing. Even while i was at his house on the same wifi i would dc but he would be totally fine! like man it sucked. Seems like internet stuff was addressed.
PS4 and VITA got 100 of the same updates. Stability...
Somewhere deep in Nintendo's R&D department files is the infamous "Bad Word" list they keep updating. I'm seriously dying to see this list more so than the "new" Switch iteration. I mean seriously its someone's (or a team) job to keep updating that list for future patches. What could they be!?
HomeBrew updates...
Updated the bad word list lol
@Screen - The stability attempts don't work, that whole geographical area just needs to be bricked if you ask me 😆
I WANT TO SEE THE NEW BAD WORDS
There. won't. be. a. Switch. Pro. in.2021
This thing must know more bad words than I do!
Noticed a whole load of nothing.
Listen, I just come here for the subtitles (and occasionally stay for the articles haha).
How bout that Bluetooth update!? Lol
One shiny internet point to the hacker who can tell us June 2021's new Bad Words.
It seems strange to downgrade from TLS1.3 to SSL, as SSL and TLS below 1.2 are no longer considered secure in InfoSec.
Update doesn't seem to be present.
I feel sorry for the, presumably, one guy in a cave working on these updates.
Interestingly I'm sitting at version 12.0.2 an no update is available.
Stability as the coronavirus cases curve
@Grumblevolcano Are you saying you can't update? Like the update isn't available for you? Because it's not available for me.
@MaxlRoseGNR Same for me. I've tried updating several times but it won't even recognize there's an update available. I went from getting Error 2123-1502 to now getting 2137-8056.
The update was available for me last night, but I couldn't get it to download, kept getting an error. I tried this morning, but now it says my system is up-to-date even though I'm still at Ver. 12.0.2.
It isn't available for me either. It said there was an update available and I went to download it, but it said there was no update avaluable.
Who needs PRO when we have this much stability?
.....now if they can magically fix the physical joycon drift problem through stability, without the need to send controllers away, repair them yourself, or shell out another $80; then I'll start buying games again.
I just tried to download the update but my Switch is telling me it's still up to date.
@WoomyNNYes I just started my 2nd or 3rd run recently! On my way to meet Impa again XD
Sounds like Nintendo's update servers need a stability update.
12.0.3 showed up on my switch light but not my standard switch.
@Smug43 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I have a Lite. No update here. I am still looking at 12.0.2 and no update is found when searching manually.
Are you sure this is a thing?
They've suspended it. https://www.nintendo.co.uk/Support/Nintendo-Switch/System-Updates/Nintendo-Switch-System-Updates-and-Change-History-1445507.html
....but I JUST now downloaded it???
Now to shut up my asinine inner fan before it makes a Windows 10 joke.
This is so odd
Not so stable now, eh?
Maybe they decided to add folders and more icons last minute so that’s why they’re taking it back :3
It... fell over?
(I'm sure poor server-based jokes are allowed?)
guys, we may be officially diving too deep into this
Maybe there is a real proof of Switch pro inside and they decide to delay some days until the announcement, hoping for no data miner had get the the update
Not so stable after all.
Going to put my rare updated Switch on eBay and make some big money!
Just kidding.
About two hours ago while playing One Step From Eden, finally finished a genocide run on the highest Hell pass but right after I killed the final boss, an error I've never seen before popped up and forced me to restart my Switch, which caused me to lose my winning run. Thanks for that Nintendo.
I hope it’s not some kind of security breach with the eshop. P.s. It’s really obnoxious that they haven’t given us the ability to customize our Switchs’ home screens. It would be so simple on their end and if they had their finger on our pulse, they’d know this is second to a Switch Pro.
Thanks for the update on the Switch's removed update! Hopefully, Nintendo will update us all on the situation again soon. We need that stability.
...Did I use "update" enough?
Too late, I already downloaded it. Hope my Switch doesn't explode.
I haven't updated yet so I guess I will not play my Switch for a moment.
That's...very strange. I never even touched the update so I'm pretty sure I'm all right.
This is why you are NEVER supposed to update the firmware until it has been tested!
I guess the horses don't like the new stables and broke free. Now Nintendo has to round them up again.
@Spider-Kev
Well, the company is supposed to do that before releasing the firmware lol
My guess is that there's something in the update that tips their hand at the Pro. Someone didn't catch it it, and now they want to get it out of public hands before E3.
Weird, I just got 12.0.3 a couple of minutes (or so) ago. Weird, did they redistribute it?
The Horse must have bolted
Edit: @technotreegrass beat me to it
@ValZ if you leave your Switch in sleep mode, it may have downloaded in the background before being removed
Must've been so stable that it made the devs unstable and they destroyed all the computers
@RCGamer no? It’s literally probably because it causes errors.
@rallydefault This is.. not how it works. They probably just literally had an error in the update code and had to fix it.
@Terra Fell asleep with YouTube on last night, and when it asked to update when I turned my Switch on. I clicked cancel, when I check the update menu I have a message saying "Version 12.0.2, your system is up to date" not acknowledging the update.
@theriku260 Man, arrow farming is risky with only 3-5 hearts of health and level 8 armor. XD lol. Single hits from arrows knock you down to 1/4 of a heart with ease. I recklessly nearly died maybe 10+ times in a row before it set in that I really don't have the OP armor and glutton of hearts from previous games.
@Terra Something tells me that's exactly it. Should I uninstall it (somehow), even though I already updated it? Is something bad gonna happen now that I have installed it?
The update will probably contain data leak info so they probably may had try to pull it down just so info doesn't get datamined or leak before E3. All their secrets would be reveal sooner or later anyways though.
@WoomyNNYes I got like 11 right outside the Temple of Time where the skeleton bokoblin (can't remember the name atm) has a bow and terrible aim XD. I died 3 times trying to get more off the plateau.
Still better than paying for them!
@Sunsy Not sure what to tell you there, that's odd.
@ValZ I honestly couldn't say, but if they've pulled it, there'd be a good reason as to why. Chances are, we'll get another update shortly.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi Yet GBATemp says about shop issues instead... confusing. "Reports are going around that the update has been pulled, as it causes issues with downloading games from the eShop." -Chary
@Terra Indeed it's odd, on the brighter side it's not installing at least so I can wait for the update to be fixed with whatever the issue may be.
Folders , themes and Bluetooth headphones confirmed .
It wasn't as stable as they thought it would be.
The Federation withheld this update so the Switch wouldn't become too powerful and try to take on the SN-X.
@Slowdive Yea, thought so.
Just a PSA for any of you who downloaded it, Nintendo is sending out their collection squads to confiscate any systems with the update. Don't try to fight them, just do what they say and hopefully they'll give the Switches back when this all blows over. Stay safe and stable, y'all.
The update let you download all their dlc for free (just joking)!
Not stable enough.
Disgusting, bring back hanging 😡😡😡😡
I had already updated it late last night. Hope it won't cause any issues. I assume they'll send out another update in the near future.
Can you still download it onto a usb & install it like that ?
@Nookingtons I assume that.. it wouldn't spoil anything, given the eshop updates and actual system updates are two entirely different things. It's the reasoning behind why they don't have to make you update your console every time they update the eshop itself..
Not to mention, the update literally breaks the switch. It's been cited that it causes issues when people are trying to download games and updates off the eshop. That's all..
Wonder if there is something in the code they didn't want dataminers to find yet.
@duffmmann Nope, it's just the switch having an error installing updates and software after that update.
It.....It's.....un....unstable....? No...no that can't be it. No, I don't believe it. I won't believe it! It must be stable. Nintendo system updates can't be unstable. This is a dream, it's all a dream!
I updated last night hadn't had any errors since.
Too much stability! I repeat! TOO MUCH STABILITY! ROLL BACK!
A stability update which itself isn't stable. Doesn't happen every day!
WOW Nintendo first UNSTABLE UPDATE LOL
HISTORY'S FIRST
It was planned for the switch Pro, now your switch will explode.
@Slowdive I've had trouble downloading games and game updates since at least last week, long before the Ver. 12.0.3 system update even came out. That's when I started getting Error 2123-1502. I think their eShop maintenance last week messed things up.
Maybe this system update started causing problems with downloading for more people? I wasn't able to download this latest system update, kept getting errors. Still can't download either new games or game updates. Hope they get it fixed for everybody soon.
my switch is more stable than my life
The update was recalled because the Switch became so stable, it literally couldn't be picked up any more.
@NTELLIGENTMAN so thats why it flies back into the dock everytime i lift it out
Just plug me with a browser already!
Don't try to fight them, just do what they say and hopefully they'll give the Switches back when this all blows over.
@SwitchVogel Have you been playing some real SMT, Mr. Vogel? Your comment here is inspired, well done.
System crash from too much stability?
@Joeynator3000 Got a creative one.
At this point, this thing is gonna get as secure as Area 51.
I managed to get the update before it was suspended, I can confirm my Switch now plays games at 4K/60fps and I have Breath of the Wild 2 and Metroid Prime 4 installed on my console. I think the high level of stability made my Switch evolve into a Switch Pro! This must be why Nintendo stopped distributing it.
Well, then I'm glad that I was playing a game that takes forever to load, because...there was no way I was shutting out of it just for the sake of a getting what I had assumed would be very a small increase in stability 😂
Idk why some people are so quick to assume it's switch pro related. It's clearly the fact that it's causing errors as @benAV and @slowdive already mentioned. I had a run of Isaac crash on me and I had to restart the system which I don't think I've had to do for a game on the switch before now.
Switch Pro confirmed.
Nintendo made their hardware more stable than a brick and thus literally bricked their own hardware. That probably deserves an award, right? 😋
@rallydefault
Yes, but we've all heard the horror stories from Sony and M$, and with Nintendo's track record in hardware this generation, it's best to wait to update the firmware.
@Spider-Kev don't have much choice when it's FORCED upon you in order to use Nintendo services 🙄
@huyi
I know Sony forces it to use their services.
Not sure about M$
So finally it was so stable it destabilized reality around it.
I updated and immediately started having input lag and drift issues and occasional unresponsiveness with the pro controller
Well, I'm sure glad I didn't touch the console since before the update was announced.
aw man, probably saving it for e3
thankfully i havent updated by going just straight to gaming then allowing the update.
I downloaded the update and did get kicked to the home screen a few seconds after scoring a goal in Rocket League, but that's happened before so I don't know if it's related to the new firmware. My main problem with my Switch is not enough internal memory. Mine is filled with gamesaves and I'm always out of space. Plus, to delete game saves I have to open that screen which takes about 10 minutes to load (I own around 2,000 Switch games, mostly cheap digital games, so that's my real problem!).
Read “MicroSDXC cards” before reading the entire paragraph and nearly had a heart attack.... was like “crap I updated last night before this was pulled, please tell my 600+ hours between MHGU and MHR aren’t in jeopardy!”
I really need to turn on my auto cloud saves again.... turned it off for D3 save scumming on Hellfire Amulets....
Just another attempt to stop pirates, move along...
Hmm...this makes me wonder if this is why I and my daughters were having such a hard time loading/staying connected when playing Minecraft today (for the update, then server games together). We kept seeing game lag spikes or disconnects throughout the day. But seeing as we has all already gotten the system update...maybe this is why?
It already downloaded and installed on the system tonight...then I won a game of Tetris 99...
It popped up saying to update a few hours ago. I did and it seems fine? Regardless, hope those effected get a fix soon.
@Dm9982 save data stays only on internal storage
So I assuming after the 2nd update why Nintendo pulled the System Update all the stability jokes just back fired?
Laughing out loud! 😂
I already updated, because when I woke up yesterday it was still stability update and I never turn off my Nintendo Switch when I at home, so when I picked up my NS I just needed restart it.
PS: they should rename the description of this update to "General system instability improvements to decrease the user's experience.".
PS2: plus this is bad timing to make instability update, because at same time Fortnite started new season while Fortnite is biggest free online shooter that was not Nintendo Exclusive on Nintendo Switch.
For whoever didn't experience with Error messages after updating, please share your experience here.
I was this close to updating my switch
Oh dear, NOT SO STABLE!!
The world was not ready to be as stable yet. Nintendo must have feared social economical meltdown.
Not so stable after all.
It's breaking under the strain of SO MUCH STABILITY! Oh God I saw this happen to Theresa May once.
And I thought, the fanboys were right. That only Sony has technical problems, and Nintendo is indestructible.
Ah balls, ive just downloaded 12.0.3. does that mean they didn't pull it or does that mean its been fixed?
Time to stabilize that stability update with a stability update so the stability can be stable again.
They forgot to put in the folders, browser and BT-audio that was meant for this update. They're fixing it now...
I’m scared of these updates now after my Switch was in repair for 6 weeks.
Nintendo updates are the most "stable" thing in my life.
Strong and Stable Nintendo Switch Update
A shame It wasn't t something to get excited about In the first place....
I hope Nintendo update the online service so you can send another user a message; which is a feature that has been present on their competitors consoles for over a decade
So does that mean that people who downloaded the broken update need to update it again or what?
@Anti-Matter
I've just gotten it , which is strange as put update on yesterday and had no problems until the last hour , now I can't download games even though it did a hour ago
I just swapped in a 512GB card yesterday. I will hold off on this until the rest of you beta-test it for me! =>)
Proof of the Switch Pro Super XL....
Ah, so that's why I couldn't get the Minecraft update to finish.
I was nervous to install this last night, but it seems to have all worked out, and the new 4K upscaling makes NES games look INcredible.
MFW it was an error o-o
@moodycat I still can't download anything. I can't even download the System Update. I get error 2137-8056 now, though. But I had been getting error 2123-1502 since last week when trying to download a new game (Game Builder Garage preload) and game updates.
I think Nintendo needs to release another system update...
@moodycat It's really frustrating! I've been having problems since last week, so this system update was supposed to help people like me. Not only did it not help me, but it also messed things up for a lot of other people, it seems. At least you know you're not alone!!
I'm going to try restarting my modem and router later to see if that helps. If it doesn't, I'll be calling Nintendo, too. At least to let them know people are still having problems.
I ordered a Switch Lite which should come in tomorrow, but I'm afraid I won't be able to download anything for that, either. Sigh. Hope it gets fixed for everybody soon!!
I see an increase in speed, better resolution and folders and themes for NES/SNES online. Great patch!
Or mine went fine and it seems..... stable.
This update reminds me of covid. Like how vaccines were halted for killing people. Time to resume now! LOL
@Moonlessky It's still the same update, not really anything new. All they did was start an inspection on the update to see if it really was the cause of the issue and it wasn't. Some of us who already got the update before the halt can't re-update cause the update was still the same. Therefore you shouldn't be worrying about downloading the update now, the same one we got is the same one you'll get otherwise it would had been firmware update 12.0.4 instead of 12.0.3.
@Ghost_of_Hasashi ok thanks for the info, my switch lite had no problems with the update but my regular switch got all wonky with the wifi, nothing a reset couldn't fix. Thanks again!
@stuntz0rZ
"This update reminds me of covid. Like how vaccines were halted for killing people. Time to resume now! LOL"
What 'covid'?
@Ghost_of_Hasashi
So have they figured out what the issue is then ?
Who knew stability could be so stressful?
thanks for the update on the update
so much for the stability...
Well working again for me ,wonder if it was the servers or something,
@Kaori-chan Doesn't seem that way to me. Very much seems like butthurt. The stability "jokes" always come alongside a laundry list of "why didn't they do X, Y or Z?!"
And in my experience, if you have to point out that it was just a joke, then it either wasn't a good one, or more often, wasn't a joke at all and saying it is, is just a shield to stop people from being annoyed or upset.
I was able to finally download System Update 12.0.3 using public Wi-Fi, but now I'm back to getting Error 2123-1502. It is not fixed for me, unfortunately. I can't download any game updates or new games. Oh well.
Just wanted to post in case others were still having trouble. You're not the only one! I've been getting this error whenever I try downloading a new game or game update since last week.
@Kaori-chan You know what, fine, whatever. They aren't butthurt. People are just happy-go-lucky and we live in fantasyland. I don't care.
Go ahead and think well of people. I don't see it and I doubt I ever will. Write me off as the lost cause I am.
@moodycat Are you still having trouble? Sorry to hear that! Unfortunately, I am, too. I was finally able to install System Update 12.0.3, but that didn't fix it for me. I keep getting Error 2123-1502 again whenever I try to download anything. Nothing helps.
I contacted two different Nintendo branches to let them know I was still having problems. Here's hoping they're looking into it and they'll release yet another update ASAP that will fix it for us!
It's working for me! FINALLY! I don't know what Nintendo did, but I'm able to download a game update again without getting that error. Hope it's working for everyone else now!!!
Sorry for the double post. Just wanted to say that it's not working perfectly for me yet. I can download updates again, but I let my Switch go into Sleep mode which stopped the download.
When I turned my Switch back on and tried restarting the download, I got Error 2123-1502 again. But I tried restarting the download again and it worked. Just seems like I have to leave my Switch on while it downloads. But at least it's something!
This is so stupid. WHY make a second 12.0.04 update? Just make it 12.0.04.
How do the people who got the bad update, update to the good one?
@moodycat I am so sorry to hear you haven't gotten any help at all and are still having trouble. Even though I posted above that the problem was fixed for me, at least partly, I actually haven't been able to actually complete any downloads! I get the error and the download just hangs. Grr... But it at least improved a little bit for me. And you are absolutely correct--the problem isn't on our end, this is something Nintendo has to figure out. So many people having the same exact problem at the same exact time, just too coincidental for it to be anything else.
I actually ordered a Switch Lite last week, and it should arrive tomorrow. But I'm paranoid that I'll have the same exact problems with the new Lite. I'll still be using my regular Switch, too. I'm tempted to do a system transfer to the Lite, download everything there, then transfer back, but I don't know if that will even work.
Here's hoping we get some good news SOON!!! They really need to push out another system update, one that actually fixes the issue.
@Giygas_95 maybe if the resolution was at the lowest possible.
I downloaded Switch update 12.0.3 before the distribution was paused. Since the update I keep getting error 2123-1502 when trying to download game updates. Nintendo support is useless, saying it's an issue with my internet. There better be a fix soon because this is incredibly frustrating.
I feel more stable than ever now.
I was finally able to download Game Builder Garage and a couple of game updates this morning, but I've still gotten a couple of errors. Not sure what's going on. I was sleeping, so it's not like I made any changes during the night. Not sure if it helped, but yesterday, I set my DNS Primary to 1.1.1.3 and DNS Secondary to 1.0.0.3, from the Cloudflare servers instead of Google. And I left my Switch on while the game/updates were downloading.
It can't just be a problem on our end, not with this many people still having problems. I've been having issues since last week, long before System Update 12.0.3 even came out.
I hope they get things working perfectly before the E3 Direct next week! They usually have at least one or two shadow drops, I think? It would suck not being able to download a new game you wanted because of this.
Downloaded this morning. Updated Tetris 99 and redownloaded classic Doom, and it worked smoothly for me. Hope those having problems can get this sorted out or fixed.
The oddity is it's still update 12.0.3. If that was the version number for the bad update, shouldn't it be 12.0.4, or 12.0.3a (I've seen something similar when some games get hotfixes).
I don't know programming so I'm only making a guess here, I think it would be common knowledge a device would see 12.0.3 and not update to the same version since it sees it as "up to date."
Nintendo still hasn't fixed this... So pissed off right now...
It's alright guys.
It's totally not a plot by Nintendo to break your Switch so you have to buy a new Switch Pro.
They would never needlessly hurt their own fans for money. NEVER!
I still can't download games lol
@Sidon_ZoraPrince Me neither. Error 2123-1502 Same with updates.
@Mr_Humpf I get the same error but my system is up to date
@Hyrule_Rainclouds Add me to the list of people unable to download. Wait a minute . . . it seems that for me, turning system all the way off, then restarting worked! I successfully downloaded a game. I hope that helps some one.
@Liam_Doolan @ryancraddock I’m a little confused at this stage whether Nintendo is working on a fix for the problems caused by 12.0.3. Or whether they think that they have resolved the problems and everyone should be working as normal now? If so, is there something that I need to do to be able to download games and game updates again. Could someone clarify? Thanks!
My son is still unable to play Among Us as it needs a download, amongst a few other games. This is honestly unacceptable. Is the best advice literally to just keep trying?
Someone please clear this up since I've yet to update the system to 12.0.3 and am not sure if I should take a chance or wait for a more "stable" update. Has that been fixed or is the current update still causing the same problems as before?
As of last night, I still wasn't able to download anything. Are others still having this same problem?
@DoortoMundane and @tzahn. Yes, I'm still having the same problems! I've been in contact with Nintendo Support and they've suggested several things: cancelling the download, clearing the cache, deleting the current wifi connection and reconnecting, holding the power button and turning the console fully off and back on, repeatedly selecting the continue option when I get error 2123-1502. They also suggested changing the primary and secondary DNS settings, which I've also done.
These tips have at least let me download the updates and new game that I was struggling to download. Whatever I do though it doesn't seem to permanently fix the error - it keeps coming back the next time I try to download. My concern is that Nintendo haven't officially recognised there's a problem, when a lot of people like me are still experiencing issues. I bought my Switch in the launch window back in 2017, and I've never seen an error message before downloading system update 12.0.3. I'm using a 256GB U3 MicroSD card which according to some sources could potentially be part of the problem. It might also explain why not everyone is having an issue?
@Mr_Humpf Dang. I'll have to keep messing around with mine too. It really is frustrating, but it seems like a limited number of people (like you and me) who are still affected by it.
@Mr_Humpf In that case, I think I'll wait until they come up with an update that provides actual stability. Oh well. My condolences to those affected by this terrible travesty of instability.
So they know it's broken but they force it on users anyways, bravo Nintendo, will you pay compensation for all the switches that will brick/ mess up because of this update? Doubt so
@lordzand planned obsolescence FTW 👍👍🙂
@Mario500 excatly! 🤔 Hmm what was the vaccine for again?
@huyi
(senses a misunderstanding of a question of mine regarding a word or a spelling of a word ("covid"))
I've only just started with this problem
@Mr_Humpf I tried all the fixes you mentioned and a few others I found online last night for over an hour. No success at all. This is pretty frustrating that there's been no fix. I can only assume it's such a small portion affected by it that it's not a huge rush. It sucks.
@tzahn Yeah, it's pretty maddening! Changing the DNS setting seems to be the most productive change, but it still took me 10 continues to download the patch for Miitopia. After a prolonged conversation, Nintendo support just emailed me and asked me to come back to them in a couple of days if the problem doesn't resolve itself. I don't know if that means they've got something up their sleeve, or if they're just trying to get rid of me. Nice lady in support though. Seemed genuinely interested in resolving the issue.
This has made downloading games suck. I can at least buy since sales are happening, but queueing more downloads kills it, putting the system to sleep kills it, letting the system fall asleep kills it, opening games kills it.
Squatting on the main screen, doing nothing until the download is done works, if you go through the 4+ attempts for it to take. It's like I've been slapped back to the Wii era.
