About time, now give me a physical release Microsoft. I will take on that mark of the beast update and have a good time blasting it (even though I did it on Steam a few months ago).

It’s sadly mediocre, they didn’t make a standard horde mode they made some wacky level based things that has a lot of filler like platforming segments that make replaying a chore.

Can anybody confirm the total file size of the Switch version now with all DLC and patches?

Because our dreams of a physical release are more or less dashed if it exceeds 32GB.

Alternatively, if Eternal does creep into 64GB cart territory, then there will be enough room to squeeze in the entirety of DOOM 2016 (which is about 22GB) on a single cartridge, which would be even better for those of us unhappy wit the existing “physical” edition of DOOM 2016.

Either way, I’m keen on grabbing two copies as I have with LRG’s classic DOOM releases.

In the US the game is actually on sale for 20 bucks on the eShop, I am tempted to pick it up, it is the only DOOM game I do not have on Switch.

Played it a bit on PC, it is not worth it.
They should have also implemented Deathmatch and make it compatible with Doom 2016.

I have every DOOM available on Switch and I love them all, I think 2016 is better than Eternal but only just.

I never finished Eternal as found it too difficult and it became a chore to play. Doom 2016 is far better.

@HamatoYoshi lower the difficulty my friend. Eternal is heads and tails better than 2016, it's really worth hanging in there till the end. The DLC is arguably better than the base game too, but the difficulty for the DLC is higher, especially part one.

@AmplifyMJ I consider Doom Eternal's single player campaign (including the expansions) better than Doom 2016's, but Doom 2016 is slighty better because it has better multiplayer. I only need the first DOOM to complete the collection on Switch. Maybe it's time.

I tried Horde Mode yesterday, and what a kick in the ass it was. Going to start again today! Hehehehe you can unlock the Doom II skin by playing Horde Mode. Oh, and the new Master Levels, I need to play those as well!

And they still are cheap for no Physical for Switch still.....

Wow, finally! I've been eagerly awaiting this update because it means TAG 1 on the Switch will be the re-buffed version again and not the nerfed one from the TAG 2 update. Also my Satisfye OLED grip should finally arrive soon, so I'll jump into this when that arrives.

It took forever, but I believe the Switch version is finally caught up with the other versions in terms of updates.

@Silly_G The Doom Eternal Deluxe Edition which includes both the base game and the two Ancient Gods expansions is already 33.3gb. Not sure how large Horde Mode is but I assume that adding that to the game will upped the size to around 35gb-40gb perhaps. If a physical release does happen I think they'll probably had to go with a 64gb cartridge if they want everything included or they could dropped out one of the expansion pack episode. Even better is if they want they could release Doom Eternal as a physical collection itself with both the Ancient Gods expansions on their own cartridge similar to what Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna the Golden Country did.

@SwitchForce It'll probably happen much later, remember it took a while for Doom 1-3 to finally get a physical release and Doom 64 got one even though nobody ask for one. Not only that Microsoft at this point had fix a lot of bs that Bethesda implement on the Doom games removing those awful DRMs that prevent normal account users to play these games especially Doom 1 & Doom II. I'm sure they'll answer our physical prayers soon. If there's this many demands for it they'll do it, it'll probably go through LRG again but oh well it's better than none at all I suppose.

@Specter_of-the_OLED : Separating the base game from the expansions would make even less sense as the expansions alone will probably require a 32GB cartridge anyway once factoring in the requisite base game engine/assets, and will also require further development time to separate them. Remember that the base game alone was about 18GB and would have required a 32GB cart anyway.

As I suggested before, as it is already likely that DOOM Eternal + Expansions + updates will require a 64GB cartridge, they should have enough space to squeeze in DOOM (2016) with all updates as well. They might as well, rather than have that extra storage go to waste, while simultaneously offering even more bang for the buck for those who have waited patiently.

Imagine that... DOOM (2016) and DOOM Eternal with all DLC and software updates on a single 64GB cartridge. No downloads required.

It will undoubtedly be considerably more expensive than your average release (US$100?), but I couldn't throw my money fast enough at such a release. Hell, I'd be tempted to grab a second copy for safekeeping too.

But will LRG take a gamble on such a release? Because Bethesda sure as hell won't.

@Silly_G Well it's really up to them then, I'm sure LGR had no problem with it. Bethesda probably had no issue with it either, the only real answer is if their are enough demands for one, if the demands are there then it'll likely happen just like the Crysis trilogy and Doom 1-3 collection. If LRG does make it happen, it'll probably be a very expensive collection, I think probably around $50-$70 but will probably be worth it for its physical value. The awful Doom Slayers Collection for Nintendo Switch itself was $40 when it first release and that only had Doom 2016 on the cart with everything else as download codes.

@Specter_of-the_OLED : The DOOM Slayers "Collection" only included the very same Version 1.0 cartridge of DOOM 2016 that they used in the standalone release back in 2017 (which requires a 8GB+ download for multiplayer support, gyro aiming, and bug fixes). Practically nothing about that "collection" was physical.

Shame eternal doesn't have a proper multiplayer mode like doom 2016

I'm with you guys all the way but I did cave in during the Black Friday deals. I mean seriously they had the Deluxe Edition (includes both expansions!) on sale for less than $30! Normally that was going for almost $90 or something. I couldn't resist

Yeah just like what the other guy said lowering the difficulty makes a big difference. I was a huge fan of Doom 2016 so when I started this one for about the first few missions I was having a real hard time and kinda bummed out because of it. Besides the difficulty spike I noticed there was a TON more to keep an eye on in terms of cooldowns. You got the freeze/frag grenades, the flame belch, the chainsaw and Blood Punch. All those were designed to be NEEDED during majority if not all encounters. I mean it took me awhile to catch on to the fact the chainsaw refuels itself so you can keep using it to get ammo. Before I noticed that I was always running out of ammo. I guess I was just slow on the intake and expected a more straightforward chaos like Doom 2016 was to me. Anyways I gave it time and once the game finally "clicked" I have to admit I was having a blast even more than I did with 2016.
