Another week has passed, with lots of intriguing news and a certain thing still not appearing [yeah, let's forget about that for now - ed]. We're in that pre-E3 / Summer Game Fest period of leaks and rumours, so much fun for all!

This week's big news was confirmation of the date and time of Nintendo's E3 Direct, Nintendo is getting all cultural with plans for a Nintendo Gallery, Crysis Remastered Trilogy is coming to test our Switch batteries, and the original Super Mario Bros. film is getting an extended cut for some reason.

So there you have it! It's now time to unwind a little and discuss our weekend gaming plans. A few members of the Nintendo Life team have done just that below, so feel free to give our entries a read and then join in with your own via our comment section. Enjoy!

In terms of TV play I'll likely fall back to MLB The Show 21 like every other weekend, and I'm also getting near the home stretch of my quest to clear every main Halo series campaign before Halo Infinite arrives; I'm about two-thirds through Halo 4, so I'm getting there!

On Switch I'm thinking of having a fresh run in Sid Meier's Civilisation VI; it's had loads of updates since I last played so I opted to reinstall it. I once had a science win as Japan, but now I want to do the same as Scotland, just because that's where I live and why not? If you haven't played Civ VI on Switch or any other platform you should definitely consider it - especially with the impressive 'Gathering Storm' DLC.

This week I've been playing Subnautica, and House In Fata Morgana, which is a real tonal shift, lemme tell you. One is about trying to escape a hostile-but-beautiful ocean planet, and the other one is about... well, I'll tell you when I've figured it out myself.

OH AND I completed Resident Evil 4!!!!

Tragedy! Loss! Despair! This weekend will sadly be mostly spent reconfiguring my OMEN laptop whose NVM Express storage decided to leave this realm with only 11 months under its belt. Losing my weapons of choice with E3 right around the corner is a less than ideal scenario so instead of playing tasty, backlog Switch video games I will sadly be restoring my laptop to its former glory.

Game of the week is Super Metroid. I have been streaming a casual playtrough of this 16-bit masterclass of game design to my local e-community. They were either Mega Drive owners or not born at all back in 1994, so I’m surprised most are actually seeing the game for the first time in their lives.

Hi folks! Hope you're all well. This weekend, I'm going to be diving back into Splatoon 2; it's been a minute since I last played it properly, so it'll be nice to just check in, see what's what, and maybe it will even get me hyped for the upcoming Splatoon 3!

Otherwise, I've not got a lot else on my plate right now. In terms of other platforms, I've recently started another run of all the Halo campaigns; I've done Reach, and I'm coming up to the end of Combat Evolved. Have a good one, all!

As always, thanks for reading! Make sure to leave us a comment below with your gaming choices over the next few days...
