Zubatman rises!

I’m looking forward to replaying Arcades Revenge. My cousins had the SNES version and I played it whenever I visited. Several years back I picked up the Genesis one. The snes ost is far superior. Either way this was my introduction to most of marvel comics at the time. Still a fan of the character Arcade to this day. Love a great fun villain.

As I say over and over they should just sell the NSO classic games individually so you can play them with no subscription active. It would be so simple to go to the store page for the NSO download and it’ll show in dlc where you can purchase each game. Then when you attempt to launch the app without a sub it will give the error message then kick you to the games you bought and can play.

I’m glad they are available to purchase so anyone regardless of subscription status can play and enjoy them at anytime, anywhere they so choose. Now if they’d only give the option to purchase NSO games for permanent play.

Everyone complains about pricing on everything so that’s not really (in my opinion) the issue. I see value in having a virtual console service if they improve some aspects (more games added more frequently, sporadic sales, once bought it’s yours for life). Can no one really see the value in purchasing the games you want to play again and again vs renting for a year at a time? Sure many just play a game once and that’s it but I for one go back and replay all my games when the mood hits me. And I for one don’t have the time and money for NSO. Not unless a purchase option is available for offline play indefinitely. This service (Console Archives) could do that……too bad it’s only available on Switch 2 with no reason given. This may sound odd but the only reason I bought a 3ds originally was because of the portable VC. Then snes vc was locked out of it. So I stewed, ranted and raved and when I heard the switch was coming out i thought finally I can play all the games and buy everything else. Then BAM! No vc but a rental system! You’ve no idea how much this just makes me want to throw up my hands and just say “To heck with it! If they won’t sell to consumers then I’ll just download ROMs and boot up an emulator and play them that way! Yo ho yo ho a pirates life for me hey!”

Ahem……….as I said no one this time will say that it couldn’t happen. After all we already have emulated NES and PS1 games already on the og switch.

If they made them available on og switch it would be available on S2. There is really no excuse. Oh crap this is turning into another of my “snes vc could and would’ve worked on og 3ds” but obviously this time around no one is going to say it’s not 100% possible it should’ve been done.

I’m sure consumers would buy what they want and pass on the others. Like every other product ever sold. At least you’ll never intentionally get a game you didn’t actually want with VC like all the terrible sports games.

I’m beyond livid about this! There are plenty of og Switch owners like myself who would love to purchase the clsssic games like this! Not just rent them! Why limit it to just Switch 2? (Yes I know PS5 too but I could care less about Sony)

I still believe 100% Nintendo could do both. It’s not going to “confuse” consumers. Renting and buying games isn’t a new concept. In fact you should “own” what you “buy”!

So is the Console Archives line seriously only Switch 2 exclusive and not available on the og Switch? Any clarification on this?!

Is this switch 2 exclusive or is it available on og switch as well?

I hope they add more games to the switch release like the Gameboy versions or possibly other DA games like Bonkers or Goof Troop.

My local one just closed unexpectedly this past week. The next closest one is almost an hour away and I called and they confirmed my preorders were transferred there so hopefully as long as they stay around I’ll be good. I believe their philosophy before was to have stores set up so the local one would only be thirty minutes away roughly.

I myself have only played prime 1. Been waiting for the others on switch but of course they go and release 4 before completing the trilogy rereleases. Go figure. If it has ties to the others then it would make since to play them in order to avoid potential spoilers. This stupidity isn’t just Nintendo either. Atlus pulled the same with releasing Strikers before porting Royal and it heavily spoils P5.

Don’t forget Ninja Gaiden Shadow and Ninja Gaiden Trilogy.

Took way too long for ng2. The original was part of the first rollout of switch online! We will only need to wait another 5 years or so for 3, then another for Shadow, then another for trilogy!

We should at least get an official statement saying what content exactly was against guidelines. I don’t think it was “that” scene everyone seems to reference as the problem. It may have been the torture and emotional scarring of an elementary grade kid whose mental scars affect her in the sequel blood drive. But that’s just my opinion. Of course it’s a horror themed game so happy endings are not common in these situations. Besides it’s rated M by the ESRB and that should be regulated enough.

Shouldn’t the ESRB rating be enough? If it’s rated anything but Adult Only (A) then they should have no issue releasing it.

I have the Gameboy Toshinden and it’s great. Unfortunately it’s not part of the collection but I’m interested.

On my original, my retron and the 3ds VC. Can’t play it on my switch since I’ve no internet at home and Nintendo isn’t making money off me for a subscription I can’t use. Now if they sold the nes games on switch id gladly purchase.

I honestly can’t pick. I’d have to split between NA and Europe. I especially like how they actually show a moon in the European box art.

This is also a problem with the other nso libraries as well. I’d expand on this and say they need to allow individual purchases of the games so if you let your sub lapse you can still play.

They did remakes for p3 and p4 on psp and vita too yet are remaking them. P1 and both 2s don’t get the attention they deserve even in the anniversary event aside from the briefest of mentions. And I’ve never heard anyone talk highly of smt 1 or 2 only 3 and upwards. These under appreciated classics deserve to be played and accessible.

Instead of making remakes of remakes why not instead remaster in some way form or fashion tgr original three games (p1 and both p2 games) or the originall two smts?!

Too bad they are locked behind a subscription. I’d rather buy them and not bother paying them yearly.

No it’s not cheaper. Just because you get a lot of games doesn’t mean you’ll play them. If they don’t add any in a years time that you’d play then it’s not really worth it when you could just buy them individually jist like you do with other digital games. Again I don’t play online so what part of an online service is necessary?

Why? Why not just slap a price tag on the service to buy individual games? Why buy a 30 plus year console and an equally old game that either one may or may not work? NSO is a ripoff. I subscribed for a month and only had less than 2 weeks of snes and nes games due to life stuff and no internet at home for the check in. Why pay $50 every year when you can buy a game or games you like once and just play indefinitely?!

I replay my games that I own all the time. When the urge to play hits me i play them. That’s why id rather buy them individually especially the games I want to own. $50 every year along with the weekly check ins is a bit much when on VC I could do jist as I said and own them and play without restrictions.

Instead of a recurring fee and weekly check in you could simply pay for the games you want. For me it’s more economical, practical and sensible to buy games Virtual Console style if they would simply transfer over from gen to gen. And at long last it seems they are finally moving in that direction witg switch 2 and your digital games account. See I don’t play online snd I’ve no interest in every single game but there are a few, like KI Gold, I’d love to play without beibg fettered to an online service I don’t use.

You’d think they’d love to get extra money by selling individual titles as well. It makes no sense to turn down money.

Too bad there is still no option to purchase individual games. Ugh……….and they wonder why consumers turn to emulation and roms online.

I’m looking forward to it. I am however not looking forward to the censorship. Why not have a toggle for that content instead. If you can turn off blood and the like on MK why not for fan service? That way everyone wins.

The games are not streamed. They are all downloaded to your switch snd are playable for up to a week before needing to check in to allow you to keep access. So by that logic it wouod be even easier to make this possible since you should just be able to buy the games outright and only play the ones purchased outside that time frame.

It wasn’t popular because you had to pay an upgrade fee to get access. Why should you gave to pay again? Look if you bought the ROM you should be completely in your rights to simply load it into the new emulator. That’s how emulators on PC work!

It seems that the majority on here are more like me in that they’d rather buy individual games and just build a personal library of the classic games than pay for NSO at any tier. It just makes sense to only buy goods and services that you want. It’s like how if you buy a new car and you are still under warranty snd you are bombarded by offers of extended warranties that don’t add up to anything.

I’ve been preaching to the choir for years how we need to have the ability to purchase individual games off the service to play indefinitely. It’s more money for Nintendo and the consumer can play all the games they want without limits. It’s a win for both sides.

Exactly! You still own them so even though they restarted the service you don’t have to rebuy them. So when they eventually bring them back you’ll have them.

Yes the emulators get updated. So what? You still shouldn’t have to buy the games over and over and restart the service each generation. The only cross gen Nintendo had with vc was wii to wiiu as you said but it was only select games not the entire vc library and you had to pay a fee to upgrade. Like I said in my last post if you BUY the games you shouldn’t have to BUY them again.

But the games you purchased are ROMs and all you would need to do is simply load them into the new emulator. This is what you do on commercially available emulators on PC. You don’t have to rebuy your NES games if you buy another NES or similar system such as the Retron line so why should Nintendo expect us to rebuy emulated games every gen when it should be simple as just downloading them into the new program.

You can't just put games that people had already bought on another system, since all the systems' architecture was different, you couldn't do that, until the Wii arrived, and Nintendo wanted to keep that virtual library for years to come, but then the Wii U came out, and Nintendo had to also change their approach on the release of their legacy content. And, even if Nintendo would allow you to buy the games that are included on the NSO apps, people would still complain about the pricing of the games, so, better to just put them as part of the subscription offering, and it has been working very well, so far.

Why can’t they do that exactly? It should be no trouble at all to load a Rom into the newer emulators much like how you emulate on a PC. The competition offers similar services and they allow that such as Steam and Xbox off my head. Nintendo for some bizarre reason just had to restart the service not once, not twice but FOUR TIMES between Wii, WiiU, 3ds and now switch under the NSO rental brand. Super Mario Bros. VC on Wii is the exact same as on the WiiU which is the same thing on 3ds which is still the same on switch. Only now you have to pay for it yearly if you want to play it.

I still say what killed it was tgr simple fact your purchases of VC wouldn’t cross gens. Had they kept the library growing from gen to gen with an account system in place it would’ve far surpassed the current rental only subscription. Or they could offer the VC titles in tiers like they do currently for NSO but have the purchase option as an alternative for those that don’t need the online services.

You haven’t watched Outlaw Star have you? In it there’s just three factions…..Space Forces, Pirates and Outlaws. Outlaws are basically mercenaries of neutral alignment most of the time like the crew of the titular Outlaw Star so it’s possible they took inspiration from it.

I honestly don’t care much for either cover. The Japan cover does show th crew but its way to crammed and I don’t like the models compared to the snes original. I voted for the NA cover though it would’ve been so much better with out the Rumble Pak included blurb but I guess that’s just advertising for you.
