Re: Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack Switch Western Release Cancelled

GameOtaku

We should at least get an official statement saying what content exactly was against guidelines. I don’t think it was “that” scene everyone seems to reference as the problem. It may have been the torture and emotional scarring of an elementary grade kid whose mental scars affect her in the sequel blood drive. But that’s just my opinion. Of course it’s a horror themed game so happy endings are not common in these situations. Besides it’s rated M by the ESRB and that should be regulated enough.

Re: Persona 4 Voice Actor May Have Accidentally Confirmed The Remake

GameOtaku

@NatiaAdamo
They did remakes for p3 and p4 on psp and vita too yet are remaking them. P1 and both 2s don’t get the attention they deserve even in the anniversary event aside from the briefest of mentions. And I’ve never heard anyone talk highly of smt 1 or 2 only 3 and upwards. These under appreciated classics deserve to be played and accessible.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Another Game

GameOtaku

@Bass_X0
No it’s not cheaper. Just because you get a lot of games doesn’t mean you’ll play them. If they don’t add any in a years time that you’d play then it’s not really worth it when you could just buy them individually jist like you do with other digital games. Again I don’t play online so what part of an online service is necessary?

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Another Game

GameOtaku

@Michael0916
Why? Why not just slap a price tag on the service to buy individual games? Why buy a 30 plus year console and an equally old game that either one may or may not work? NSO is a ripoff. I subscribed for a month and only had less than 2 weeks of snes and nes games due to life stuff and no internet at home for the check in. Why pay $50 every year when you can buy a game or games you like once and just play indefinitely?!

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Another Game

GameOtaku

@Michael0916
I replay my games that I own all the time. When the urge to play hits me i play them. That’s why id rather buy them individually especially the games I want to own. $50 every year along with the weekly check ins is a bit much when on VC I could do jist as I said and own them and play without restrictions.

Re: Nintendo Expands Switch Online's N64 Library With Another Game

GameOtaku

@Michael0916
Instead of a recurring fee and weekly check in you could simply pay for the games you want. For me it’s more economical, practical and sensible to buy games Virtual Console style if they would simply transfer over from gen to gen. And at long last it seems they are finally moving in that direction witg switch 2 and your digital games account. See I don’t play online snd I’ve no interest in every single game but there are a few, like KI Gold, I’d love to play without beibg fettered to an online service I don’t use.

Re: Opinion: Nintendo, Let Us Buy The Games Being Delisted From Switch Online

GameOtaku

@dartmonkey
The games are not streamed. They are all downloaded to your switch snd are playable for up to a week before needing to check in to allow you to keep access. So by that logic it wouod be even easier to make this possible since you should just be able to buy the games outright and only play the ones purchased outside that time frame.

Re: Nintendo Confirms Removal Of Switch Online SNES Game

GameOtaku

It seems that the majority on here are more like me in that they’d rather buy individual games and just build a personal library of the classic games than pay for NSO at any tier. It just makes sense to only buy goods and services that you want. It’s like how if you buy a new car and you are still under warranty snd you are bombarded by offers of extended warranties that don’t add up to anything.

Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Online Will "Continue To Be Available" For Switch 2

GameOtaku

@Edu23XWiiU
Yes the emulators get updated. So what? You still shouldn’t have to buy the games over and over and restart the service each generation. The only cross gen Nintendo had with vc was wii to wiiu as you said but it was only select games not the entire vc library and you had to pay a fee to upgrade. Like I said in my last post if you BUY the games you shouldn’t have to BUY them again.

Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Online Will "Continue To Be Available" For Switch 2

GameOtaku

@Edu23XWiiU
But the games you purchased are ROMs and all you would need to do is simply load them into the new emulator. This is what you do on commercially available emulators on PC. You don’t have to rebuy your NES games if you buy another NES or similar system such as the Retron line so why should Nintendo expect us to rebuy emulated games every gen when it should be simple as just downloading them into the new program.

Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Online Will "Continue To Be Available" For Switch 2

GameOtaku

@Edu23XWiiU
You can't just put games that people had already bought on another system, since all the systems' architecture was different, you couldn't do that, until the Wii arrived, and Nintendo wanted to keep that virtual library for years to come, but then the Wii U came out, and Nintendo had to also change their approach on the release of their legacy content. And, even if Nintendo would allow you to buy the games that are included on the NSO apps, people would still complain about the pricing of the games, so, better to just put them as part of the subscription offering, and it has been working very well, so far.

Why can’t they do that exactly? It should be no trouble at all to load a Rom into the newer emulators much like how you emulate on a PC. The competition offers similar services and they allow that such as Steam and Xbox off my head. Nintendo for some bizarre reason just had to restart the service not once, not twice but FOUR TIMES between Wii, WiiU, 3ds and now switch under the NSO rental brand. Super Mario Bros. VC on Wii is the exact same as on the WiiU which is the same thing on 3ds which is still the same on switch. Only now you have to pay for it yearly if you want to play it.

Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Online Will "Continue To Be Available" For Switch 2

GameOtaku

@Edu23XWiiU
I still say what killed it was tgr simple fact your purchases of VC wouldn’t cross gens. Had they kept the library growing from gen to gen with an account system in place it would’ve far surpassed the current rental only subscription. Or they could offer the VC titles in tiers like they do currently for NSO but have the purchase option as an alternative for those that don’t need the online services.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Star Fox 64

GameOtaku

@Bobb
You haven’t watched Outlaw Star have you? In it there’s just three factions…..Space Forces, Pirates and Outlaws. Outlaws are basically mercenaries of neutral alignment most of the time like the crew of the titular Outlaw Star so it’s possible they took inspiration from it.

Re: Poll: Box Art Brawl - Duel: Star Fox 64

GameOtaku

I honestly don’t care much for either cover. The Japan cover does show th crew but its way to crammed and I don’t like the models compared to the snes original. I voted for the NA cover though it would’ve been so much better with out the Rumble Pak included blurb but I guess that’s just advertising for you.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2

GameOtaku

@N00BiSH @DK_Dude333
At least with gamepass and ps+ you can buy individually. From 2018-now it would cost (if you took the expansion pass in 2021) $260. Now if you consider what games you actually play on the classic games you’d more than likely realize the value doesn’t add up. If (as I’ve argued on a soapbox for years) Nintendo actually used its account system you’d have no need to rebuy the games again. VC failed because they were so anti consumer over three consoles not wanting purchases of classic emulated games to cross over generations. Look at how the competition does! Prior to this Sony and Apple were kings. Prior purchases were honored. I don’t play online so paying $50 a year for an online plan to play only a handful of games is ridiculous. Especially considering to get access to certain games you “HAVE” to buy the more expensive plan.

Re: Hideki Kamiya Wants Nintendo To Reboot Virtual Console For Switch 2

GameOtaku

I still don’t see how you can argue NSO is cheaper when to get everything you have to pay $50 a year. That’s $50 a year! Don’t bring up family plans because that’s not feasible for every situation. $50 for a lot of games you may never play just sitting on the system taking up space no matter how small it may be. Not to mention you may not even play online and just have the service for the classic games. You as a consumer would be better off buying individual titles you want for a cheaper (often discounted) price.

Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Online Will "Continue To Be Available" For Switch 2

GameOtaku

@Edu23XWiiU
They could’ve done both. Problem was they restarted it not only once but twice given the 3ds also had VC. VC that wasn’t even the same as its counterpart the WiiU with no Crossbuy available. Not too mention the slow drip feed of games is it really any wonder why they say it didn’t work out? Not that the idea of having VC was bad but their execution of it just set it up to fail.

Re: Nintendo President Reiterates Switch Online Will "Continue To Be Available" For Switch 2

GameOtaku

@Edu23XWiiU
Yes but it could still be done the individual purchase course as well. They know what games we’ve purchased from VC. So why not say if you bought ROMs from them in wii/wiiu/3ds on VC you could just redownload them for free. Why does it only have to be a rental service when you could have a much more personalized gaming experience instead of dumping a lot of games you’d never touch jist sitting there taking up precious memory space?

Re: Rumour: Switch Virtual Console Was Apparently Nintendo's "Original Plan"

GameOtaku

@Leej07
I’ve looked and looked and no official source says it was a loss. Even if it did lose some money how much are we talking? Companies complain if they lose a million when there earnings are in the multi billions so……

Besides it was their fault that consumers had to rebuy the games over and over instead of just transferring the games over that you purchased from wii to wiiu/3ds. Account system my friend.

Re: Rumour: Switch Virtual Console Was Apparently Nintendo's "Original Plan"

GameOtaku

@Bigfunnybird
But are you getting that value per year especially if you wanted the expansion pack for complete access? $50 a year adds up quick if you only play a handful of games. If you are just paying for online play then $20 a year still isn’t ideal but a reasonable price with the added bonus of a few games you may dabble with. It makes more sense to purchase individual titles of games you’ll play again and again than pay for goods and services yearly that you only play sporadically.
