@DK_Dude333 Yeah but for me I’d have to pay the expansion tier to get access to n64, advance and Genesis games. That’s yearly. I’d rather pay a one off fee and play them anytime without restrictions the games I want.
@N00BiSH Sony did it first when I had the psp tgen vita. All my psp digital games and classic ps1 games (available on both) were available to redownload day one using my same account. Same with my Apple Music purchases (most of anyway). And now steam with my Rog Ally. Nintendo is going to have to change up.
@N00BiSH No. You purchase the games. See even now the classic games are downloaded to your switch. All of them. You don’t need an internet connection except to check in every seven days (which for me is not doable) and you can play offline.
@N00BiSH @DK_Dude333 At least with gamepass and ps+ you can buy individually. From 2018-now it would cost (if you took the expansion pass in 2021) $260. Now if you consider what games you actually play on the classic games you’d more than likely realize the value doesn’t add up. If (as I’ve argued on a soapbox for years) Nintendo actually used its account system you’d have no need to rebuy the games again. VC failed because they were so anti consumer over three consoles not wanting purchases of classic emulated games to cross over generations. Look at how the competition does! Prior to this Sony and Apple were kings. Prior purchases were honored. I don’t play online so paying $50 a year for an online plan to play only a handful of games is ridiculous. Especially considering to get access to certain games you “HAVE” to buy the more expensive plan.
I still don’t see how you can argue NSO is cheaper when to get everything you have to pay $50 a year. That’s $50 a year! Don’t bring up family plans because that’s not feasible for every situation. $50 for a lot of games you may never play just sitting on the system taking up space no matter how small it may be. Not to mention you may not even play online and just have the service for the classic games. You as a consumer would be better off buying individual titles you want for a cheaper (often discounted) price.
@Edu23XWiiU They could’ve done both. Problem was they restarted it not only once but twice given the 3ds also had VC. VC that wasn’t even the same as its counterpart the WiiU with no Crossbuy available. Not too mention the slow drip feed of games is it really any wonder why they say it didn’t work out? Not that the idea of having VC was bad but their execution of it just set it up to fail.
@Edu23XWiiU They should it’s tied to your account. They send receipts for purchases. Or they could just let us transfer the rom vc files from sd cards to the system.
@Edu23XWiiU Yes but it could still be done the individual purchase course as well. They know what games we’ve purchased from VC. So why not say if you bought ROMs from them in wii/wiiu/3ds on VC you could just redownload them for free. Why does it only have to be a rental service when you could have a much more personalized gaming experience instead of dumping a lot of games you’d never touch jist sitting there taking up precious memory space?
@Edu23XWiiU Valid complaint having to pay over and over for the same content. It should’ve easily carried over much like how the nso games are just going to transfer over to the new platform.
@Jprhino84 It shows that unlike VC of the past our games will transfer over which is what we wanted check then. Now is the perfect time to allow us to purchase individual classic game titles .
@Leej07
I’ve looked and looked and no official source says it was a loss. Even if it did lose some money how much are we talking? Companies complain if they lose a million when there earnings are in the multi billions so……
Besides it was their fault that consumers had to rebuy the games over and over instead of just transferring the games over that you purchased from wii to wiiu/3ds. Account system my friend.
Only one I ever played was The Hobbit GBA. It’s……..middling at best. Definitely not a recommendation and most certainly not the best but it’s better than a lot of other tie ins (of course this came out years before the Jackson movie).
@8bit-Man There is a law making waves of late in California making it so that if they use the language like buy or purchase that it would imply ownership of a digital copy.
@Bigfunnybird But are you getting that value per year especially if you wanted the expansion pack for complete access? $50 a year adds up quick if you only play a handful of games. If you are just paying for online play then $20 a year still isn’t ideal but a reasonable price with the added bonus of a few games you may dabble with. It makes more sense to purchase individual titles of games you’ll play again and again than pay for goods and services yearly that you only play sporadically.
@8bit-Man That’s why you should be able to back them up on a sd card or other device. They are digital games you purchased so why not? As long as Nintendo keeps putting retro emulators on their hardware you should never have to worry about them again. Heck even if they did hypothetically go bankrupt you could load them to a different emulator technically.
@Inc They are not tied to the system technically. Why not use the account system? Your own personalized digital gaming library! If it goes down to it why not just transfer the games on an SD card to a newer system?
This is my biggest disappointment on the switch. I’d love to just buy individual games I know I’ll play over and over again and just forget the subscription service since I don’t play online games. So a subscription to an online service that I don’t use just doesn’t cut it. It feels like a scam…..no it is a scam. We have an account system. We should have no problem simply transferring them over generation to generation. Heck we could just transfer them to a SD card and just copy them over to the next console of Nintendo’s what ever it may be.
I gotta ask why not port the Xenosaga and Xenogears games? I’m sure the blades series is popular but I long for the traditional turn based style of Saga and Gears. Why hasn’t this happened yet?!
@Count_of_Monte_Fisto I don’t remember that at all. Multiplayer was kinda the point. I remember not finishing it but playing online on Saturdays against other panopticons.
@WaveBoy Just use the dual sticks. I cannot stand motion controls or gyro aiming. It’s so frustrating and not consistent. Oh the ease of turning and aiming with dual sticks! Ah yeah that’s the way.
A quick question. If you say they stole two thousand pounds of product would it be a ton of pounds or would you just say a ton. Asking for a friend (not really).
@LavenderShroud A mean Neptunia x Senran had a character dropping s**t with almost every breath (of course she was a villain so you’d kinda expect it) still rated T and i honestly think the series is just fine at a T rating. Or did they forget not everyone is such purityrannical prude?
This is ridiculous. I was waiting for news of this trilogy and I figured it would be coming sooner rather than later. Especially baffling that we have other games in the same series (even the new racing game that’s coming out early next year). I’m curious as to what guidelines they are violating.
@roy130390 I mean financially speaking it would make them more money to put out a physical so more consumers can get access to it. I’m holding out for a physical so the only way they are getting my money is to do so even if I’d love to play it ASAP.
How is it to early to tell if they will do a physical release or not? You just simply decide to make a physical release! It takes all of what, 2 seconds?
Looking at them I don’t think Nintendo really has no legal grounds period. Heck if I’m reading correctly they couldn’t have been patented in the first place since they are concepts (one reads using a laser like marker to hit targets and how to move a character such as a soldier in a 3d space.)
This sounds way to similar to Capcom Street Fighter/ Data East Fighters History lawsuit. Capcom lost. I believe if that sets any precedent then Nintendo will lose this as well.
This feels awful similar to the case in the early nineties where Capcom tried to sue data east over fighter’s history infringing on street fighter. Capcom lost.
@SillyG We’ve seen time and again where collections have been passed over on the switch with the hope they’d be added to NSO. However most like the Disney Afternoon Collection never see a switch release or like Konami and Capcom release multiple ports of the same games on various eshop collections and nso. (Like for example Street Fighter 2 on the anniversary collection and the Capcom arcade or Bloodlines beibg on the Castlevania collection and on the $50 a year expansion)
@Jprhino84 Ownership is important. Why not have both services? You could buy games you enjoy and then when you decided not to sub again you could still have those games to enjoy. Remember with a subscription you have to pay year after year regardless if anything is added that you would enjoy. I dont see the service as value when I lose value by not having internet connection at all times with my switch thanks to the weekly check in required even if I paid $50 a year for the highest tier if not get my money’s worth.
@Jprhino84 Thing is you are not going to want to play every game on the service. So those games are just taking up space. Personally speaking I don’t see games as one and done but go back and replay them whenever the urge takes me. You’d be far better off buying the individual titles you’d play and curate your own gaming library than waiting for the one who makes the decisions about which games are on the service decides to drop the game you are looking forward to.
Consumers are finally getting fed up of being nickeled and dimed year after year for subscription services. Bring back virtual console as an option to play classic games.
@coolioam I’d rather there be options for the consumer to have a self curated library of games that transfer gen after gen without having to buy them over and over or pay a fee every year. Especially options for those like myself who don’t have internet connections at all times at home.

It’s too slow. I kept yelling at the screen that he could swing his sword faster. Not to mention way too many systems to keep track of like what skills are only available against this one specific enemy type and wgat skill to use when you see the premonition. Just make it an action RPG hack and slash.
