Re: Ubisoft Employee Explains Why Star Wars Outlaws Is A Game-Key Card

The main problem for me deciding which version of a game to get is when a game releases physically on switch 1, but on a game key card on switch 2 (with improved performance), such as dragon quest 1+2.

Not so much these large current gen games which are very graphically intensive / demanding. I might be happy to get these digitally, preferably in a sale though.

Re: Poll: When The Heck Is Metroid Prime 4 Actually Launching?

I think early October. With 3D Mario All Stars shadow dropping in September and Mario Wonder switch 2 Christmas edition releasing in December which would be a perfect fit under the Christmas tree for the 40th anniversary.

Metroid Prime 4 might even get the switch 2 oled special edition treatment for all we know, but that could also be a thing for Metroid Prime 5, or MP remastered trilogy

@solarwolf07 ah yeah, i understand what you’re saying. I still have to do that 5th pantheon too, and also some hall of gods bosses. I challenged myself to do the radiant version of all bosses, and that burned me out so hard on the game. Haven’t returned to it in like 4-5 years… I have around 15 to do still, one day, one day.

Thing is, i notice getting older with these games, so it’s not getting any easier 😭

I don't have the time for another Hollow Knight playthrough! Got it to 112% earlier, and happy with that. The completionist in me would ravage my social life even further

Also, going through DK Bananza currently Pretty fun game so far! Am at level 8. And pretty easy going.

@solarwolf07 oh yeah, the path of pain! Forgot about that one, took me a long time to do that one! Did you finish the boss rush too? (Hall of Gods)

@molkom don’t! For the love of your wallet and everybody around you. It has become a microtransaction lootfest with multiple fomo events every week since early this year, right before and after the merger with Scopely.

I’d recommend to stay away if you’re not into the game anymore.

Re: Video: So Just How Might These Third-Party Games Run On Switch 2?

Apparently Final Fantasy VII Remake is the most beautiful game Digital Foundry has experienced on the Switch 2 so far. It runs at a constant 40 fps. (https://mynintendonews.com/2025/08/25/digital-foundry-final-fantasy-7-remake-is-the-best-looking-thing-ive-seen-on-switch-2/)

I hope the developers will learn from each other what is possible with the hardware and what isn't. There is absolutely no reason if Cyberpunk ánd Final Fantasy VII remake are beautiful to have a crappy port from a similar gen game.

(Then again, I’m not a game developer so there are most likely reasons 😅)

Re: Opinion: We Need To Talk About X Games

Various daylife is still my favourite nonsensical game title ever.

I swear Square Enix uses AI to generate their game titles (or is it Square X Enix). Maybe Square and Enix are names that have also been generated by randomizers back in the day.

Re: Hollow Knight: Silksong "Special Announcement" Is Coming Today

@SpaceboyScreams @koopathegamer maybe my problem is that i’ve actually played it too much (up to 112%), but got stuk on the last couple of bosses in the gauntlet / Godhome…

Old and slow 😞

But in my opinion it’s not better than any Metroid from Super onwards, and the hype takes away from other indies that need a spot in the spotlight imo.

Hyped that it’s now finally coming though! And that people stop talking about it at every indie direct and are sad if it hasn’t been announced again.

@Divide_and_Wander nah, Nintendo has two months to fill yet with releases.

I figure something related to 40th anniversary Mario for September (3D Mario All-Stars with galaxy 2?) and then Metroid Prime 4 for October.

Hyrule Warriors probably January / February, since that is due in 'winter 2025', which runs till March.

Re: Poll: So, Will You Be Getting The Switch 2's Next Exclusive 'Drag x Drive'?

Nah, not interested. It's a tech demo, and in my opinion serves better as a pack-in, but in recent years Nintendo is of the mindset that they should release almost anything that they have worked on in a way that people might spend some money on. Just to get the development costs out of it. Nintendo feels a bit random in recent years.

Welcome tour and alarm clock come to mind. But also the way Nintendo distributes news in the Nintendo News. Bit too random.

Re: Reaction: Switch 2 Needed A Partner Showcase With Pep; This Wasn't It

I think for Nintendo this is all very new territory and they’re still searching how to handle it. They used to have just their own games to worry about, but now they want all games to have their time to shine. I think they have loads of games coming to their system, everybody wants a piece of the pie. It’ll settle down in a few years, once all ps4 and xbox series s games have been ported and 3d party games release day and date on Nintendo’s platform too.

I think the excitement we had with ‘impossible ports’ just wont happen anymore. Because everything is very well possible, as Cyberpunk has shown. Also, we will not receive many older game collections anymore, old nintendo classics or many ‘late to the party’ pc indie ports. Most of those are already accessible via switch backwards compatibility. So we can mostly rule out nostalgia excitement from now on too.

So yeah, just expect ports from 3d parties from now on, and the occasional new game announcement for game series which started on the wii, ds, 3ds or switch. And you won’t get disappointed.

I just hope Nintendo won’t forget to support what saved them through release droughts early switch lifecycle: the nindies.
