I just don’t understand why Nintendo made this option of a key card and didn’t just continue the Switch route of game cards with various sizes. Why change a winning business model? They shot themselves in the foot.

I made a list (sort of a wishlist), games that have not been released on Nintendo systems, but should be able to run on Switch 2. I think most of these will be released in batches in the next two years and new games will release day and date (or at least close). It’s a gamble which one will be announced when.

I’ll try to keep this list up to date for every direct:

I think this also is part of the ‘nintendo’, ‘3d party’, ‘nintendo’ cycle that was rumoured.

So we can expect a full direct again in september which focusses on 1st party Nintendo games. They always happen.

@NolandC you’re missing the metroids, the splatoons, the fire emblems, the xenoblades, luigi’s mansion 3, other marios, tears of the kingdom, echoes of wisdom, … And even other games with scores of 8+.

@NolandC switch has way more bangers than that. Nintendo is also the only publisher actually releasing 6+ games per year.

Switch 2 isnt’ the same fenomenen that switch 1 was. Also, people have a massive backlog that they can play on switch 2. I know I have and I’m one that hasn’t bought DK yet, but i did buy the mario odyssey bundle back in the day.

Which is actually also something to consider. Mario had a bundle, and was released just before holiday season.

I hope Nintendo’s architecture this gen is good enough so that this is the geneneration where every 3d party game is just ported to the system by default.

Then there’s no stopping the switch 2 and no reason (apart from slightly better home performance) to buy the ps5.

Maybe it’s just a Metroid Prime direct, release in August (together with Kirby DLC). And then in August they give a Kirby Air Riders direct, which’ll release in September. And then in September, a big fat Nintendo Direct again with the focus on Hyrule Warriors, Pokemon, a switch 2 edition game in October/november, 3d party big ports for the holidays and whatever comes early next year.

So yeah, you might be right, next direct might focus mainly on 3d party games (I expect microsoft stuff), with some 1st party release dates mixed in between.

Switch lite and switch oled are also switch one sku. As is said in the article, switch one sku’s are total 17.7k, ps5 sku’s are 8.6k. Thus, more than double.

@Duncanballs sony’s now also not supporting their mainline system apart from one game per year. The only ones supporting it are the 3d parties and Microsoft.

Bizarre that Switch One is selling more than double the amount of the Playstation 5 now that there’s a direct successor.

The program was used to pull some people towards digital. However, with the switch 2 they’re more or less forcing people, so a discount is not necessary anymore.

A game is never built from the ground up to be online. Since when is the first line of the code of a videogame:

if online = True
Then ...

A private server would not be possible because of security? Just put in writing that whoever owns the server is responsible. Done

This app has become a case of, I’ll get back to it in a year or two to see what’s there.

Nintendo has a weird way of updating it and I’m not sure I like it

Great list! Though i’m waiting on physical releases for some of them. Some of these games feel too big for eShop only games.

Or maybe I should fully switch to digital, but then I expect to only buy like 1/4th of the games I used to.

I like it a lot! Feels like a switch pro and that’s exactly what i wanted. I have a backlog that i’m sure will benefit of it. For instance, I’m now playing age of calamity and I’ve never played the witcher 3 and am now going to. Playing games on the go has changed my life, happy to continue with it with a more powerful system.

Hyrule warriors, age of calamity for me! Wrapping up that game, the fps boost feels really good! Good to experience the story this way.

A reminder to me that I should play through all of these games again.

I still have to finish MP 2 and 3 though, never completed 2 and never played 3...
