To me, Mario Kart World did indeed disappoint. I was wondering what it was, but a big aspect I thought it was the long (and boring) open world tracks. But now I think it’s the 24 racers aspect, and the fact that there’s always something working against you on the tracks too. There’s just way too much noise so there’s much less focus on the racing and the technical part. Also, the cpu is just too arbitrarily good, one random hit by whatever and you’re 2nd or 3d already, making the past few minutes on the long tracks feel meaningless.
I also prefer the tight arcady action of mario kart 8.
I also think that there’s no mention of a dlc yet, because they want to give a spotlight to kirby air riders too. And I think Mario Kart World will also grow to something spectaculair, like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe did
@Res462 ok. Thanks for your elaborate and complete answer (finally).
I was wondering why a free switch 2 update stings you that much. But now I know, since you find it not a ‘free update’ but rather an increase in price of a switch 1 game.
@Res462 ok, i see what you mean now. So you prefer an 80 dollar switch 2 physical version over a 70 dollar switch 1 version with an upgrade?
Would you have paid more for a physical version of the other games that got free upgrades too, like Link’s Awakening, clubhouse games, captain toad, etc.?
@Res462 so they didn’t ‘skimp on putting out the switch 2 edition’. They just didn’t want to produce a switch 2 cartridge and just gave the update for free. As it should be done for cross-gen games imo.
@HingryHuppo which ‘content and features’ are hidden behind an amiibo?
There is only a handful of games that I can think of where an amiibo actually gives a useful feature, which are Zelda Skyward Sword HD (fast travel), and metroid (reserve tank, reserve missile, ultra hard mode). For the rest, it’s just a small benefit on a daily cooldown (other Zelda games) or characters that you can unlock while playing a bit (Smash Bros).
Tbf: Not a fan of the Bananza DLC either. I skipped on that one too. And I agree about their mobile games. But none of their console games have lootboxes.
Therefore, calling them worse than EA, which has turned their games into pay to win, is absolutely not true and actually gives EA a go to stay as horrible as they currently are.
@Anti-Matter because they have the same chips in their system as the previous system. Remember, also not all ps4 games work on ps5, and no ps3 games work on ps4 or ps5. It’s a thing with every company and every new generation.
99+% of all switch games work on switch 2, all of them running similar or better.
@simu001 yes, they care so little such that they’re fixing issues when encountered.
Nintendo getting day and date 3d party support is a dream come true. Best of all worlds: great 1st party games, best form factor, best ease of use ánd great 3d party support. Everything i could want from a gaming device
game cards should be faster than blu-ray. If a game can be played with a blu-ray, it should be the same or better with a game card. And if a blu-ray installs stuff on a SSD, the game card should be able to do the same.
So the comments of the devs of SE and Ubisoft are just untrue if you'd ask me, and this comment of a dev of Capcom is the only true answer.
I’ll gobble up around 10 of these over time most likely.
But I am willing to wait a little for either discounts or full physical releases.
Btw, i find it interesting that apart from FC 25, Hitman, Cyberpunk and a Ubisoft game the western AAA support is not as much there yet. I think Nintendo was possibly secrative of switch 2’s specs and configuration and they didn’t want it to get into the hands of their console rivals, such as for instance Microsoft?
Indiana Jones will be the first from Microsoft in March I think?
SE has now started collaboration with Limited Run Games. I expect a lot of Switch 2 games to release physically via them, starting somewhere next year possibly.
It’s that or digital games on sale next year for me.
Just a reminder to everybody here, that the high prices in America are 30% tax and that you’re paying Trump and his billionaires friends tax cuts with it.
In Europe I’ve seen these kirby amiibo go for only 32 euro (35 dollar). So yeah, tax related.
If you still don’t want to see it, and still want to vote republican, i don’t know what to say.
3d party related: I made a list in april 2025 (sort of a wishlist), games that have not been released on Nintendo systems, but should be able to run on Switch 2. I think most of these will be released in batches in the next two years and new games will release day and date (or at least close). It’s a gamble which one will be announced when.
I’ll try to keep this list up to date for every direct:
Metal Gear Solid 3 (the remake), 4 and 5
Journey
Assassin’s creed shadows
Mass Effect Legendary edition
Dragon Age: the veilguard
Dragon’s Dogma 2
Monster Hunter Wilds
Clair obscure expedition 33
Star Wars fallen order and jedi survivor
Psychonauts 1 and 2
Red Dead Redemption 2
Grand Theft Auto IV and V
Detroid: become human
Resident Evil VII, VIII, IX (?), 2, 3 and 4 Remake
FF XVI, FF VII Rebirth
Stellar Blade
Demon soul and Dark souls 2+3
Kena: bridge of spirits
Silent Hill 2
Tales of Arise, Scarlet Nexus, Metaphor Refantazio, Fate/Samurai, Star Ocean: the Divine Force, other rpg’s?
Kingdom Hearts
Death Stranding
Like a Dragon games
Control
Alan Wake 2
Baldurs Gate 3
Viewfinder
Hi-fi Rush (shame that studio is gone)
Flight simulator
Deathloop, Ghostwire tokyo
Diablo IV
Oblivion remastered
other Sony ip, Microsoft ip. Why not?
moonlighter 2
Updates for:
Doom, Alan Wake, Skyrim, Witcher III, other assassin’s creeds, Mario + Rabbids, Kingdom come Deliverance, Outer Worlds.
You’ve seen Woodo? That game is actually still alive?
After Silksong (revealed in an Indies Showcase in 2019) it’s the oldest game on my notes that peaked my interest. Revealed at the Wholesome Direct in 2021.
I mean, backwards compatibility is a massive buff for the system. I’m playing upscaled games from my backlog next to Donkey Kong Bananza, and loving it!
The main problem for me deciding which version of a game to get is when a game releases physically on switch 1, but on a game key card on switch 2 (with improved performance), such as dragon quest 1+2.
Not so much these large current gen games which are very graphically intensive / demanding. I might be happy to get these digitally, preferably in a sale though.
@OneArmedGiant not necessarily, the way snowdrop uses the available tech might be different than the way cp2077 uses the tech. Cpu vs gpu for instance.
I think early October. With 3D Mario All Stars shadow dropping in September and Mario Wonder switch 2 Christmas edition releasing in December which would be a perfect fit under the Christmas tree for the 40th anniversary.
Metroid Prime 4 might even get the switch 2 oled special edition treatment for all we know, but that could also be a thing for Metroid Prime 5, or MP remastered trilogy
@solarwolf07 ah yeah, i understand what you’re saying. I still have to do that 5th pantheon too, and also some hall of gods bosses. I challenged myself to do the radiant version of all bosses, and that burned me out so hard on the game. Haven’t returned to it in like 4-5 years… I have around 15 to do still, one day, one day.
Thing is, i notice getting older with these games, so it’s not getting any easier 😭
I don't have the time for another Hollow Knight playthrough! Got it to 112% earlier, and happy with that. The completionist in me would ravage my social life even further
Also, going through DK Bananza currently Pretty fun game so far! Am at level 8. And pretty easy going.
@solarwolf07 oh yeah, the path of pain! Forgot about that one, took me a long time to do that one! Did you finish the boss rush too? (Hall of Gods)
@BaldB3lper78 In my opinion, the free upgrades all games passively get are already worth the upgrade costs to switch 2. Very happy with it! Don't see myself ever going back to switch 1 tbh (except the lite which i use when traveling).
@molkom don’t! For the love of your wallet and everybody around you. It has become a microtransaction lootfest with multiple fomo events every week since early this year, right before and after the merger with Scopely.
I’d recommend to stay away if you’re not into the game anymore.

Re: Nintendo Of America Reportedly Cuts Loose Customer Service Contractors As It Looks To Outsource
@Summer235 maybe it’s very much related to current American politics, mainly the new visum requirements. Take this move from Microsoft for instance.
https://ragex.co/tech-and-ai/microsoft-orders-h-1b-workers-back/
E.g. Nintendo does not want to deal with visa requirements in the US and therefore outsources it to other countries.
@jedrus_lilac could be, but i also think they’re trying to dodge a bullet.
Re: Nintendo Of America Reportedly Cuts Loose Customer Service Contractors As It Looks To Outsource
@ArcadeSixties can you present numbers of employees let go by Nintendo this year, please?

I’d buy a physical for 70 dollar if it would come to Switch (2).

Who wants to deal with USA these days. I completely understand Nintendo to outsource work outside of that particular country.
