What’s wrong with Square Enix these days? They’re not doing their fans as much service as they can. Their final fantasy pixel remaster was also missing the added content of the gba versions….
This game doesn’t feel like my thing. Too sandboxy for my taste, and it doesn’t feel like a challenge at all. Just some random destruction derby action without a clear direction.
@Anti-Matter so you agree then that sony isn’t doing anything for you (just ratchet and clank) and that buying a playstation 5 is a waste if you already have a switch 2
@Anti-Matter it’s not sony doing that. It’s the publishers. All of those games are on pc and pc handhelds. Most of those games are on Switch too, at least all the ones you’ve now mentioned.
@Ogbert 100% agree. Sony and playstation are doing nothing more than money grabbing this generation. It’s working for them because Xbox has had problems with their weird marketing strategies over the years, but xbox is doing a lot more right for consumers than sony these days.
Especially with their play anywhere and game pass strategies. I think Sony will never do that and will always try to leverage money from you multiple times per game (playstation, pc, subscription service).
Remember Sony increasing the price of their controllers with 5-10 dollar because concord flopped?
@Member_the_game nah, I think that’s a gaming bubble you’re in. Most people just have one system and they stick to it. Most people also just play one or two games per year: just the yearly fifa, call of duty, madden or just mario kart and party.
@jojobar because playstation is marketed heavily during football matches (especially before a champions league match), and it’s the main sport in the country.
Great! That’s two less on the list of Nintendo. Hope that Nintendo has vivid completionists working for them, so that one pdf of games with issues is empty at the end of the year.
I so love Nintendo for doing stuff like this. They know their audience
@olliemar28 do you know if the quirky alternative gamecube startup sounds are also present / unlockable somehow? I’ll try tonight once I get home to get to those
@Liam_Doolan quite a lot actually! they’ve completed the list with what needs investigation and what is working (dark blue), a new update was released on the 6th of June, following the update on the 27th of May.
I’ve experienced a nuisance with the new joy con controllers, something that bugs me slightly. And it’s the size or positioning of the analoge stick on the right joy con. It was difficult for me to do the grab in soul calibur two, which requires the B and Y. The analoge stick prevented me from doing so easily, it was in the way.
Was a bit surprised seeing my battery drained this morning to 83% while being on standby. Definitely hope that that will get patched out somehow, because it’s a shame to have to check and charge your battery every time you want to quickly take it with you on daily commute for instance.
We seem to be getting lots of 8-10’s, with everything being a looker. Hope we’ll get massive 3d party support this gen, i love my handheld systems and this one is the first that’s on par with last/current gen.
Yeah, this is what the Switch 2 should be all about, bridging the gap with current gen. So many gems to look forward to that I just didn’t get around to play yet.
A capable handheld will definitely help with that.
@dartmonkey hi Gavin, thanks for the list! Are you planning to try to keep this one updated? Or is it just for the launch games / launch window? Wondering whether to bookmark the site
So many new games on Switch 2 to preview / review, including technical marvels, but we’re stuck with previews about framerate improvements of a pokemon game…..
Switch 2, mario kart, cyberpunk 2077, shinobi, No sleep for Kaname Date, Saga Frontier 2 remastered and maybe Lord of the Rings to play with my daughter if it’s any good.
And a bunch of switch 2 games on my wishlist to track whether they get actual physical releases or a very, very deep discount. There’s no need to rush those games.
@PikminMarioKirby actually, I think the legends game was good, but also Sword and Shield i think is better than perceived. Sure, it has some low textured areas, and a very bad story (imho) and not the best pokemon designs, and therefore it might have been a disappointment for the first home console outing of Pokémon.
But I’m now wrapping up the pokedex and when playing through the game, and especially the DLC, i really like the focused approach this game has. There are no weird distractions, it’s just a neat adventure. Heck, I even like the routes way more than the open areas of Scarlet Violet.
So yeah, Gamefreak has a sloppy track record as of late, but imo it’s mainly due to Scarlet and Violet, which is at the very least a technical disaster. (Even though some people are also really enjoying that game)
@PikminMarioKirby you can wait until it is released though before being negative.
Btw, i’ve given loads of criticism on scarlet and violet on this website. That game is so, so bad imo, both design wise (empty sandbox)!ánd technical wise (bugs, tedious menu systems, etc etc).
So i’m not preordering, but I’m hoping that the Legends game will be at least as good as the last Legends game, which I really enjoyed!
@PikminMarioKirby yes, legends has a different production team from the scarlet/violet and gen 10 games. Team B works on Pokemon spinoffs like Legends, team A works on the mainline games.
I’ll be buying so much less games for the switch 2. I have a huge backlog of physical unopened games, and i will never get the same amount of games if most of them are being released as a game card.
Annoying! I’m missing themes 22 and 23 (Kirby’s forgotten land and Kirby’s dream buffet) and they’re not part of the patch….. well, back to waiting for a few years…
Well, unfortunately I won’t be traveling there anytime soon… Looks great but I’ll wait for a European one or I will try to visit Japan somewhere in the future.
To me though, I could have bought these games but haven’t, since because having a child, portable gaming has changed my life. I also haven’t bought a ps5, so I’m looking forward to being able to play Elden Ring, Street Fighter 6, Yakuza 0, Cyberpunk 2077 and Split Fiction. Also looking forward to FFVII Rebirth, Hades II and Layton. That’s a good third party lineup, but not all of them new, no. To me it’s mainly about actually being able to play these high tech games with not many drawbacks on a handheld that excites me.
And yeah, from Nintendo we can look forward to Mario Kart, and next to that I can’t wait for Metroid Prime 4 (finally!). With maybe Donkey Kong and Age of Imprisonment sprinkled in between but I’m also not that excited about those.
I hope Nintendo will create a new franchise again as they’ve done with Splatoon. It might give developers free reign.
I’ll be enjoying my switch 2 from day 1 and until an upgrade becomes available.
Consoles always get upgrades down the line. I played gb games on my gba back in the day. And ps2 games on my ps3.
It doesn’t make sense to always wait, especially now that prices don’t seem to go down in the next couple of years. Just enjoy the games and if you’re able to afford a console just get it while it’s current.

@citizenerased that’s ok, but i don’t think you can say that the performance is better on one compared to the other.
Re: Review: Split Fiction (Switch 2) - Peerless, Visually Stunning Co-op Adventure With Boundless Variety
@citizenerased there’s other aspects than fps. Does steam deck present this game in 4k hdr on a screen for instance? Switch 2 does.

@PikminMarioKirby yes, legends has a different production team from the scarlet/violet and gen 10 games. Team B works on Pokemon spinoffs like Legends, team A works on the mainline games.
Also, the dev timeline is slowing down. It used to be 3 years between mainline games during the 3ds and switch era, and now it’s shifting to at least 4 years or more (2022-2026 for SV). https://gamerant.com/pokemon-franchises-development-cycle-game-release-order-explained/
But mate, if you want to be uninformed negative just for the sake of being negative, be my guest.
I’ll wait for the game to release before becoming negative.

@PikminMarioKirby you have zero knowledge about the development of this game, though. gamefreak has multiple development teams (just like Nintendo).
