Very cool to see crossplay finally added! No crossplay is my only complaint with Capcom's fighting collections so it's nice DE was able to work it out here. Might have to look around for a copy of the Switch 2 version now that it's been out in the wild for a while now.
This feels a little low to still have minor frame rate drops. Like does anyone know how it runs on PS4? If it runs only about as well as this that would be kinda pathetic, but I guess idk what it's resolution or texture quality is like so who knows
I'll be honest, I don't think this is going in unless Miyamoto forces it in, because I know for a fact the Yoshiaki Koizumi probably did not think of them as being related in such a random way. Like not only does it undo Rosa's backstory, it makes no sense for Peach to be a cosmic being. It's such a dumb way to get them related to each other, but for now I can ignore it until it actually invades the games
Man I did not expect this to be so cheap! I was honestly expecting this to be full price, but I guess since this is Nintendo's first spin-off for the series, they maybe feel like it would be off if they made it full price when we haven't gotten a new mainline Splatoon on Switch 2 yet, but I'm definitely not complaining this is great to see a cheaper price on big game.
Definitely seems like they're looking to focus on Salmon Run and Side Order as their main gameplay cues which I'm happy with. Haven't play Side Order yet and I love Salmon Run but it would be nice to have an offline way to play something like it
@OneArmedGiant I mean hey that is good, I didn't inheritly mean it as a blanket statement that everyone does, just that those that want to complain about stuff usually don't stand on any one ground of issues and don't realize one issue kinda impeads on the other. Obviously physical is the better ground to stand on than pricing, since obviously companies push stupid prices physical or not, but doing one can dampen the other.
@JohnnyMind Lol I definitely was thinking that. Most people that complain about physicals without any thought or nuance also complain about prices as well. I don't think people realize they can't have their cake and eat it too.
Glad that Bloober decided to go full physical after Chronos, but that could just be because these are older games. Who's to say, nice that they are doing it at all.
I mean if it's any consolation that most people will not be buying this for that price. They should of made it fully physical, just had a normal Elden Ring Key-Card to make it $60, or just go digital, because I have a feeling that this release will go on sale fast.
I guess I'm glad I got to a point I got impatient with waiting and just got Strive on PlayStation. I would be super annoyed if I had waited for the Switch version, got it, and then got left behind for DLC. To be fair I kinda did with Skullgirls for a bit, but that was with DLC that came far after the Switch port and before it was actively supported again, so this just makes it feel more egregious.
Honestly I was always confused by EO's US cover. Feels weird that Kyo and Kim are the main stars, with Sagat and Geese faded in the background. It's just a weird combination of characters. Europe and Japan's just makes more sense with Ryu and Kyo, and then having Haohmaru there for flavor.
Honestly I do really love a lot of these ones. I feel like some designs just get a bad wrap in comparison to contemporaries of similar designs. For my 3, I did Purugly, Mienfoo, and Fraxure. Fraxure I'm pretty sure just didn't get picked because Axew and Haxerous leave much longer standing impressions. Mienfoo I feel like is so different to Moenshao that they both offer different styles of design, and they both have their own worth. And then Purugly, honestly man idk why people say they're so ugly, it's just a big chonky cat, idk what makes them so much worse than some of the other cats of the series. If anything I do think they are actually pretty cute imo. They deserve more love for sure.
@FishDude I mean who's to say that GTA6 can't come to Switch 2 potentially in the near future if not day and date. Not mention it keeps getting delayed so who knows when a final date will stick.
I can't be 100% certain what Nintendo is going to do with prices, but if they can hold this price, I think they kinda automatically get a huge leg up on sales for the console. I mean sure $450 isn't cheap, but it is compared to a $650 dollar PS5.
@caseyyy I would say any fighter can still be enjoyed with no previous experience with games in a series. As long as you're willing to learn a few things, then you probably should have a good time
Very excited to pick this up when I can. I always had an interest in VF but could only play it in passing, but now that this is on Switch 2 with full single player and crossplay online I'm all in. Already played liked 4 hours of the beta and still want to come back to learn more
Very interesting to see this happen. If this price differential is so that way we can have games at a lower price while still having physical releases, I think I'm ok with it. Of course it could be a slippery slope with how the prices get pushed, but only time will tell. So for now, I think this is good to see.
@UltimateOtaku91 Having it in the games still allows for local battles without internet, plus Game Freak would never be able to fully test competitive ideas without having any pvp battling in main games. Plus Battle Revolution was the standard in Gen 4, and that didn't stop games from having pvp battles in them. I think it's just another avenue to have battles in, not a replacement
@UltimateOtaku91 I can't really imagine that, I see this as just a supplement for increasing engagement for competitive battling rather than the replacement, similar to the previous console battlers like the Stadiums and Battle Revolution.
@iLikeUrAttitude I think the wide amount of PS4 end of service announcements is because of the news that Sony is disabling certain features for future supported PS4 games, so I don't think that's an issue.
Good overview on the complete situation for everyone here that doesn't follow the swamp that is politics and legal orders. I know that Nintendo won't give refunds, but these things happened because of the government directly. Unfortunately, Trump is an unfortunate stick in the mud now with this and won't TACO now it seems unless more stuff and allegiance blows up in his face. Like I always says, use your anger towards the large government that affects all of our lives, not the video game company.
YES I'VE BEEN HEARD I'M SO GLAD DARIUSBURST GOT FIXED!!!! Game was experiencing odd flickering issues with certain enemy wave types and bullet patterns so I'm super glad they figured it out
Everytime I see this game I remember the fact that it has sold over 50 million copies and is one of the 10 best selling games of all time. That still amazes me to this day
Honestly super cool to see this type of update! I feel like we haven't had such a major feature like this in a long while. Will definitely take advantage of this new mode if adds a lot of horsepower and/or doesn't suck the battery life a whole lot quicker
The Saudi fund has also acquired a 5% stake in Nintendo as well, so I don't think this will have any significant effect, but it does suck especially in relation to Street Fighter. Saudi Arabia really is trying to chew up the FGC and spit it out once they've done their sportswashing
Very interesting to see more gameplay, almost seems like it's a more chill, exploratory platformer like Yoshi's Story with more unique mission objectives. Honestly would make a lot of since now that I think about it considering how much like a pop-up book Yoshi's Story was. Might have to wait and see how expansive the game is for how much it might cost
@Not_Soos I do agree that would be cool, but that would probably depend on how Square is willing to play with the NSO service, which considering they haven't, I doubt it will be coming over anytime soon, although I do feel that would be good to have both
Honestly Indie Worlds I always set expectations low, lower than even standard directs, even when I barely have them in the first place, because you can't really make predictions of what they'll show with such variety available. They had quite a few games I was already interested in that are now coming over to Switch and Switch 2 like Denshattack and Minishoot Adventures so the fact that there were quite a few games I was looking forward to in such as short time span made this one really good!
I was wondering if and when this was going to be coming to Nintendo platforms, very cool to see it here with a demo! I'll definitely have to check it out
@gcunit I mean yeah sure with used titles and stuff people take advantage of, but since most people buy these games new now, I bet most people are going to buy it for full price, it's just a timing thing.
Honestly I'm not putting much stock into Fever not selling like crazy at launch. It's simply one of those games that will sell overtime, the casual audience buying Switch is probably just waiting to buy it when they feel like the time is right
All that I ask for is the hardest one of all, to not have the updates for the same mobile games take up over half the show (which TPC can't live without having)
Even if it isn't essential, I would say at least most of the games are quality and worth checking out if you're interested. Obviously having to buy another accessory for them unless you want to play in a tiny square is disappointing, but it's better to have a way to play them officially, compared to not at all. Plus not to mention we have the new unreleased titles coming, and I would assume those will be big headliners for the app, since they could be the most meaty games with some of the best use of the stereoscopic 3D.
It does feel weird that this is released separately, but it makes sense at the same time from a marketing standpoint (average casual would have no idea what the NSO apps are btw) and for Pokemon Home inclusion. I get that $20 is a bit, but Pokemon put tax on their titles on the 3DS for $10 of gen 1 and 2. I feel like $20 isn't the biggest deal, but it's not awful. I would rather buy 3 GBA games for $60 than buy one barebones 3DS or Wii remaster for $60 is we're just comparing this to Switch prices.
@RupeeClock Nah I think this is more so a case of Nintendo evaluating what games can get away with a paid upgrade and which ones can't. Like DK Returns HD just got a Switch 2 update last month, and all of the other games that got it were games that already got DLC, or were games that Nintendo figured they couldn't sell another boxed copy of because they had issues that needed fixing, which charging for would of gotten them in more stuff than they already are. It's always a case by case basis with Nintendo, even when it feels like it doesn't make sense
@datamonkey Nah man Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined just sold nearly half a million physical copies physically last week. Most people were probably just waiting for that to release, so a lot of Japanese gamers are just playing that rn
Even though Gen 6 was small, I feel like they got some of the most quality designs out of any generation, like I think only real sore spot is Binacle. Really hard to decide, but I love Hoopa so much I gotta put it up for one of my favorite gremlins in Pokemon
