Honestly Indie Worlds I always set expectations low, lower than even standard directs, even when I barely have them in the first place, because you can't really make predictions of what they'll show with such variety available. They had quite a few games I was already interested in that are now coming over to Switch and Switch 2 like Denshattack and Minishoot Adventures so the fact that there were quite a few games I was looking forward to in such as short time span made this one really good!
I was wondering if and when this was going to be coming to Nintendo platforms, very cool to see it here with a demo! I'll definitely have to check it out
@gcunit I mean yeah sure with used titles and stuff people take advantage of, but since most people buy these games new now, I bet most people are going to buy it for full price, it's just a timing thing.
Honestly I'm not putting much stock into Fever not selling like crazy at launch. It's simply one of those games that will sell overtime, the casual audience buying Switch is probably just waiting to buy it when they feel like the time is right
All that I ask for is the hardest one of all, to not have the updates for the same mobile games take up over half the show (which TPC can't live without having)
Even if it isn't essential, I would say at least most of the games are quality and worth checking out if you're interested. Obviously having to buy another accessory for them unless you want to play in a tiny square is disappointing, but it's better to have a way to play them officially, compared to not at all. Plus not to mention we have the new unreleased titles coming, and I would assume those will be big headliners for the app, since they could be the most meaty games with some of the best use of the stereoscopic 3D.
It does feel weird that this is released separately, but it makes sense at the same time from a marketing standpoint (average casual would have no idea what the NSO apps are btw) and for Pokemon Home inclusion. I get that $20 is a bit, but Pokemon put tax on their titles on the 3DS for $10 of gen 1 and 2. I feel like $20 isn't the biggest deal, but it's not awful. I would rather buy 3 GBA games for $60 than buy one barebones 3DS or Wii remaster for $60 is we're just comparing this to Switch prices.
@RupeeClock Nah I think this is more so a case of Nintendo evaluating what games can get away with a paid upgrade and which ones can't. Like DK Returns HD just got a Switch 2 update last month, and all of the other games that got it were games that already got DLC, or were games that Nintendo figured they couldn't sell another boxed copy of because they had issues that needed fixing, which charging for would of gotten them in more stuff than they already are. It's always a case by case basis with Nintendo, even when it feels like it doesn't make sense
@datamonkey Nah man Dragon Quest 7 Reimagined just sold nearly half a million physical copies physically last week. Most people were probably just waiting for that to release, so a lot of Japanese gamers are just playing that rn
Even though Gen 6 was small, I feel like they got some of the most quality designs out of any generation, like I think only real sore spot is Binacle. Really hard to decide, but I love Hoopa so much I gotta put it up for one of my favorite gremlins in Pokemon
I can imagine there are people who have just clicked on this to just vote 1's on everything because they just want to hate on Virtual Boy, but I have really enjoyed what I've played so far, being Teleroboxer (which isn't here for some reason so I'll say it's an 8 here) and Galactic Pinball. Galactic Pinball is a very solid pinball title for the time with a lot of fun gimmicks and it's OST is very good. Teleroboxer honestly is super underrated, I feel like it has such a cool style and plays pretty well, I just wish it could of been a bit more and a little less punishing with the AI, but it was still a treat with how charming and demanding it got. I plan to try all the others soon enough, and I know VB Wario Land will be good, but I figure that all the others will be sleeper hits as well
Gen 5 is my first and favorite gen of Pokemon, I know everyone used to say "Why do they have such stupid designs as a trash bag and ice cream! It was so much better in Gen 1!" when those same people forget to mention the likes of Muk, Voltorb, and Magnamite. Not say they are inherently bad Pokemon, but more so that I feel like it was always kind of a bad faith argument. Actual Pokemon wise this gen has some of my favs. Victini, the Zorua line, Scraggy, Liligant, Whimsicot, Cofagregus, Axew, Stunfisk, Genesect, Meloetta, Munna, Kyurem, so many amazing designs, although my heart will always belong to Snivy and it's line, my first starter Pokemon with one of the most charming designs imo. It'll always at least be top 3 for me probably.
Really hard to say, because Gen 2 honestly has so many great Pokemon and hasn't been milked to death unlike Gen 1. Decided to go with Shuckle, I love them so much they're a silly creature
I actually had Playgrounds 2 for a while, but man it was super bogged down by just being a 2K game. The unlocks were so tedious and barely had any content to keep me engaged when I tried it. Wish the original Playgrounds was still around since from what I heard it was just inherently better of a package
Little disappointed that the Adventure mode is about the same as Aces, which I thought was really lame since that game actually had no other modes at launch, and even now really, but I do hope at least the other modes they showed add some time to it. Probably will have to wait despite my initial excitement, but hopefully when I pick it up it will be at least close to Power Tennis.
@HingryHuppo @KoopaTheGamer I do agree with that the physical releases are definitely more pricey, but considering the normal Switch physical is also 2× as much, I think it might just depend on how close of pairity of prices we can get to Switch 1. I will also say that you can get the Switch 2 version for a cheaper price, as Red Art Games do have discount codes that are completely active, like 20% all purchases with the code WELCOME20. I used that when buying my copy, but since I'm American, shipping price got it back to 50 Euros, which was about $60 for me, so don't be silly like me unless you really wanted a physical Switch 2 version like me or live in Europe and don't have to pay at least as high of shipping.
Honestly super surprised to see Indy on a cart, especially after they didn't even put it fully on Disc for the other consoles. Very excited about that! Might have to consider it if we don't have it change to be a Game-Key Card
This almost sounds like an Aliens Colonial Marines situation again. Game by Gearbox is announced for a Nintendo platform to be released soon after initial launch and is said to be close to other versions, said versions launch and have a multitude of issues, Nintendo version is delayed only to vanish into the ether
Labo VR might of been one of the first games I preordered alongside the physical version of Snipperclips, and I got some good fun out of it, but it just collected dust with everything eventually, and now that I have a Switch 2, it's just sitting in a tote as I procrastinate on finding a way to sell it.
I guess that shows why Sega didn't make much of a deal out of Crossworlds selling a million, because they did just think that the Sonic movies were going to immediately sell people on a full price kart racer. I think it shows how different Sega's expectations for Sonic are from the fan's expectations in what it means to be a huge success, not to mention all of the marketing Sega did up to its release
I would say out of everything announced right now Mario Tennis is my most anticipated title because I'm on the hopium that they're gonna hit a home run with Mario Tennis and have it be as good as Power Tennis. Everything else I'm at the very least interested in but not crazy over right now until more info is given like specific release dates or more info
Tomadachi Life hasn't always been my type of game, but in terms of a solo game direct, they showed what they needed to so I gave it an 8. Still interested in checking it out if I can
I've been waiting a long while for this to finally come over to Switch, they originally said Winter last year was the estimated date, but thankfully since there's cross-play and single player modes, I'm very excited to pick this up when I can!
I'm so excited they're releasing Zero Racers and Dragon Hopper. I have been hoping those games found the light of day for years and them being released officially is so amazing. Very excited to get my hand on my headset in February
Metroid Prime 2 makes a lot of sense for NSO, Pikmin 2 does not considering it is already on Switch natively without much different than in the Gamecube original
Man I had no idea Headcannon had this in the works, it looks right up my alley! I have a soft spot for some of the experimental style of early PS1 games and stuff and it looks like this fits into that niche mold very well. Going to check out the demo when I can and put it on my wishlist!
Definitely kinda sounds like to me that the Switch version is definitely going to continue to lag behind the main console version. Unfortunate but makes sense considering they are already stretching it in terms of the PS4 and Xbox One versions in terms of timelines for future development
I do hope that this is the case. I understand the circumstances that have led us to GKC but it definitely is hamper on most games that are full retail price for physicals I would want to get. Only one I have gotten was SF6, and that's mainly because I love SF6 a lot and still want to own something tangible of it (not to mention that it's going to get bigger in size anyways since it's an on going fighting game so having everything on the card now wouldn't even make sense really)
@Nanoline52 Exactly. I remember seeing that from watching Atrioc and yeah it's insane the mental gymnastics the government takes in trying to make their data seem good, when it in fact shows the opposite. But I guess it's really in the benefit of companies, including those in the game sphere, "if dollar amount goes up, then more success!" instead of people actively buying and using things.
I don't think this is completely surprising because I bet a lot of people are very squeezed in the current economy, so I can imagine these sales very easily have to do with that, especially with the negative publicity basically all systems this year have gotten around price stuff
Damn Nintendo really just decided to go a little crazy with NSO drops here, and with a Gamecube game we weren't expecting no less! Definitely gonna be checking it out. I love Treasure's games and while I know Wario World is not their best, they sure as hell made the craziest Wario game so I'm very excited to try it out
Nintendo has definitely made sure to have N64's library be the best it can be with Switch this generation. We literally are getting games we probably would of never gotten in previous Virtual Console generations and it makes me feel very happy they're using their money to make them accessible
Very glad it's doing well so far. I do realize that Japan is probably Kirby's biggest market, alongside Air Riders being more niche, but if it at least sells around a million or 2, I see that as a huge win imo
Kirby Air Riders so good Nintendo knew they had to finally bring the team in-house (and probably because of Smash and Namco just not wanting them anymore but still)
