I would add New Super Lucky’s Tale to the list, that’s a very wholesome feeling game. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, laidback platformer.
The only hot wheels game I’ve ever played was on the gamecube. There was a story mode that was ok, but the split screen multiplayer was unbelievably fun with friends. I don’t know how it holds up though… I haven’t played it in a long long time.
At this point I don’t think Nintendo will add N64, or even GBA games to this service… at least not for a long long time.
I’ve gone back to using the Wii U virtual console and its been really fun. GBA games look awesome on it. I definitely recommend checking it out if you have access to it.
I’d just like to see some visually unique characters added. Kazuya looks like Ryu or Ken or Terry… the FE characters all look the same… I know they play differently but show someone a silhouette of those characters and they won’t be able to spot much of a difference.
I wasn’t expecting these ports to be at e3 but I was surprised that they specifically mentioned that no other games are planned right now.
At least the Zelda game and watch looks better than the Mario one, Links Awkening is a nice add on, but Hopefully they will have more than just that for the 35th
It’s not ideal, but do people realize that they can open the direct in 1 tab and whoever they want to listen to in the other?
Both would be live events so it’s easy to match the timing…
I guess phones can’t always watch 2 videos at the same time. Reactions can be posted and watched afterwards though. My guess would be they want an accurate count of viewers or it’s Nintendo being Nintendo.
Back in my day game over meant start over!!!!!! What does everyone get a trophy nowadays?!?!?!
Just kidding, game overs feel archaic at this point. It basically just pulls you out of the game and makes you sit through more loading screens. Making games more accessible for people is always good, hopefully they also have a challenge mode to make it harder for experienced players.
The weird thing about modern paper mario is how Nintendo refuses to ditch the turn based combat. Obviously they are trying to move away from the rpg elements, and that’s fine, but why do it halfway?
Origami King was definitely a step in the right direction, so I’m optimistic for the future.
Well deserved for sure, but it would be a genuine shame if Sakurai never worked on anything else. Smash is great and at a point where it can sustain itself. Sakurai’s other works are also great though!
Kirby and Kid Icarus could certainly use his talent right now.
Well Netflix knows that their time is running out. Everyday more and more companies are creating their own streaming services, removing content from Netflix, leaving them with only their original content…
Netflix will always have the same problem, which is relying too much on other creators to do the heavy lifting. Video games would be a strange shift but the same problem exists.
Companies have figured out they don’t need a middle man, you can create your own streaming service for your own content.
My rankings move around quite a bit, but right now:
1. Wind Waker 2. Knights of the Old Republic 3. Mario Galaxy 4. Luigi’s Mansion 5. Breath of the Wild 6. Pikmin / Paper Mario 64 / TTYD……. Just to name a few
Luigi’s Mansion 3 is another more recent title, it comes close to cracking the top 10 but not quite there. Definitely a top 3 switch game for me though.
I think at this point something 3D is a must. The Kirby franchise is ready for that breath of the wild moment to reinvigorate the formula, bring in some new fans and bring back some old fans.
I’m excited to see what they have planned. Air ride 2 would also be cool….
I still can’t believe how badly they messed up the battlefront games. The original games provided a perfect formula, but EA releases a bare minimum effort. 2015 Battlefront was just pitiful. I didn’t play the sequel, I did hear that one is better though. And in EA’s own mind, they were successful since they sold so much.
My top 3 would be:
Knights of the Old Republic
Classic Battlefront
Lego Star Wars
What a weird concept, I think what this game really needs is some personality or branding. Imagine if the hitman games were called “murder simulator” it would feel really wrong and strange. Give the main character in this game a story, why is he stealing? Give the character motivation, maybe he is stealing from people who wronged him in the past, or needs the money for medical treatments…. There’s lots of potential but the “theif simulator” brand feels weird and bare bones to me.
I filled this out earlier today. It’s nice when a company gives you the opportunity to voice your opinion. If you were disappointed, here is your chance to articulate it in a respectful manner. That’s the only way things will change, by speaking up.
Knights of the Old Republic is a masterpiece. Some of the best storytelling in Star Wars, beautiful music, and great characters. I’d recommend it to anyone, even if you don’t care about Star Wars.
Some aspects might seem a little dated but they don’t even need to do much “remastering” just porting it would be fine. For people worried about framerate or performance issues, kotor runs cellphones, it would be fine on switch haha
Jokes aside, I’m looking forward to this, I’m glad they’re taking time to get it right instead of rushing out a bad game. Hopefully they port the trilogy so people have the option to experience all of them.
More of this please, except don’t make it a limited quantity for MyNintendo exclusive to Japan.
There’s so many amazing game soundtracks out there that can’t be obtained “legally”. Let us properly pay and listen to this great music, so that the artist’s get their deserved credit!
That’s really cool. It would be nice to have that outside of Japan, although once you have the files on your computer you could upload and get them printed almost anywhere, maybe not as fun, but it can still be done!
Amazon has some nice options for custom poster printing.
Would love to see some older more obscure Microsoft IP’s return. Blinx the Time Sweeper or Fuzion Frenzy would be at home on switch. Of course so would Banjo.
I’ll pay extra to permanently buy and download the games I want. 90% of the NSO games I played for a minute to see what it’s like and that’s it. Just give us a 5 minute demo of each game. It doesn’t take long to realize NES soccer isn’t for me...
I have confidence in them, as the article says, Jedi Academy was patched relatively quickly. Unfortunately frame rate issues on the switch are not surprising.
I’m excited for Republic Commando and Pokémon Snap. Keep the classic Star Wars games coming. Knights of the Old Republic 1 and 2 would be great. No reason for them not to be on there.
Even better would be the original Star Wars Battlefront games from 2004/5. If they brought those with couch co-op and online support, wow that would be really cool.
I always thought Sakurai would throw in a secret extra character at the end similar to Piranha Plant. My money is on another Kirby rep. (Magolor or Bandana Dee?)
The Lego games are consistently good to great, I can wait awhile longer for this.
By the way, there’s a great eshop sale on lego games right now (North America), some at all time low prices. Lego city is 6 bucks and DC supervillains is 12. Definitely worth checking out to scratch that itch. Sale ends April 14th.
Always great to see video game music become more accessible. I wish this would happen more often! There’s always YouTube but it’s at risk for takedowns and the quality varies quite a bit.
Official releases like this also give the composers the recognition they greatly deserve but don’t always get.

Re: The Ten Best Wholesome Games On Switch
Solid list! A Short Hike is fantastic.
I would add New Super Lucky’s Tale to the list, that’s a very wholesome feeling game. Definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a fun, laidback platformer.
Re: Video: Hot Wheels Unleashed Shows Off Its Licensed Launch Day Cars
Too bad it’s not the 60’s Adam West Batmobile…
The only hot wheels game I’ve ever played was on the gamecube. There was a story mode that was ok, but the split screen multiplayer was unbelievably fun with friends. I don’t know how it holds up though… I haven’t played it in a long long time.
Edit: I think it was Hot Wheels: Velocity X

Professor E. Gadd.
Clearly the best choice to round out the roster...
Re: Metroid Series Tops Wii U eShop's "Best Sellers" List Following Dread Reveal
I’m one of these people, bought zero mission the other day and loving it so far.
Think of the easy money they could make selling virtual console games on switch… Pretty much the only reason to play Wii U.
Re: Random: How Many Of These 175 Indie Games Can You Identify?
A Short Hike is a beautiful game. You can beat it in one sitting but it’s very relaxing to play. Great music too.
Re: Halo Dev Says It Would Be "Amazing" To See Master Chief In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
I’d just like to see some visually unique characters added. Kazuya looks like Ryu or Ken or Terry… the FE characters all look the same… I know they play differently but show someone a silhouette of those characters and they won’t be able to spot much of a difference.
Give us someone unique for the last fighter!

Re: Where To Pre-Order Game & Watch: The Legend of Zelda
Don’t get me wrong, this is cool, but these games are, and have been, easily available for people who wanted to play them.
If this is all they are doing for the 35th anniversary… I think that’s pretty weak.

I hope they have the multiplayer mini games, those were great back in the day.
Re: Alfred Hitchcock – Vertigo Isn't A Trick Of The Mind, It's Out On Switch This Year
Games based on movies always remind me of Indiana Jones and the Staff of Tutorials— I mean Staff of Kings…

@60frames-please
Did you ever hear the tragedy of Cyberpunk 2077?
It’s not a story the jedi would tell you.
Re: Aspyr Rolls Out Frame Rate And Performance Update For Star Wars: Republic Commando
Performance updates are a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.
Glad they did it though. Ideally it would have been there from the get go, but life’s not ideal.
Re: Random: "Nintendo-kon" Trends In Japan As Two Nintendo Ad Stars Get Hitched

Re: Talking Point: When Was The Last Time A Game Cracked Your Top Five?

Re: Talking Point: Should Nintendo Do More DLC For Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, Or Just Release Mario Kart 9 Already?
How about some DLC for Double Dash? Is it too late for that?
At this point I think it needs to be a sequel with fresh new ideas.
