NOOOOOOOOOO, Well it had to end at some point, I do think though we are going to get more smash games, But I don't think sakurai is going to work on them. And I would like if they just ported this game to whatever new console they have and just add new characters to it.

I honestly don't know what to expect

It's a complete toss up as to whether they go with a first party rep to even the first-third party ratio in this Fighters Pass or decide to break the internet again like Bayonetta

Whatever dlc fighter they have its going to go three ways. one, you have a fighter that a lot of people agree with and is a good end to smash. two, you get a character that nobody asked for and most people will hate and then grow to love, Or three, we get waluigi!

Afterwards, Sakurai will scream ERROR ERROR ERROR and then spontaneously combust live on air.

I hope it's a Nintendo character, but I'm not very picky. The impossible request would be a character that most people would feel as worthy of closing out the DLC. I don't think a single character guessed, so at least I'll be kept guessing.

@Snatcher More characters?! If anything they need to redo the fighting mechanics. Also, agreements and licenses do run out. It's not a sure thing all the characters make it back in the next installment IF there is another game. I would like them to release a final full version for a physical copy.

I like how when Smash Ultimate was revealed and stuff absolutely nobody talked about Crash, nobody mentioned him until 2020. Everyone is acting like Crash is a guaranteed spot, but don't kid yourself. The entire DLC lineup was decided well before 2020 and people don't recognize it. Back in Smash 4, everybody talked about Rhythm Heaven representation. Nobody seems to realize that recent popular picks will NOT make it in, plans for characters and stuff are made looong long long before reveal, and actually making the characters can be very very time consuming

FNF only rose in popularity recently, and the roster for DLC was decided years ago. There is literally zero chance for BF to get in. However, another NG representative like Hollow Knight (Started as Hungry Knight on NG) has a small chance I would say. I wouldn't be surprised if Meat Boy, Castle Crashers, The Binding of Isaac, or Among Us gets Spirits either.

Oh, but will New Super Smash Bros Ultimate Deluxe, coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch&Swap that will be announced next year also be complete?

I honestly don't care who it is now that Shantae is a Mii Costume. If it's Phoenix Wright, Guybrush Threepwood, or a new Zelda character (We've been due since Melee), I'll be pleasantly surprised.

I feel sorry for Sakurai. He has worked himself to exhaustion and created an insanely deep roster of characters but will still have to hear complaints about why some random character that two or three people want wasn't included. His is the definition of a thankless job.

I'm open to whoever it may be. I've loved all of these characters in their own way and have had fun playing as all of them. I even have a couple of mains from them. Smash Ultimate is not just a game but a true work of passion and I hope that after this Sakurai and his team can all take a long deserved break.

If Sakurai wants to retire or work on another game then it's his decision but I have no complaint about this game or the characters chosen. I just hope that people could at least be honorable and not harass Sakurai once the final character is revealed.

-Conker (I accept his inclusion is almost impossible, though)
-Lip (we need more reps from puzzle games)
-Arle Nadja (why Puyo Puyo hasn't been represented yet?)
-E.M.M.I. (unlikely, I know)
-Paper Mario (yeah, another Mario, but Paper Mario is hardly the same as regular Mario)

EDIT: Another character I'd like to see, but forgot to mention, is Chibi-Robo, but I accept he might bot be much of a fighter.

What we'll probably get:
-A cheap character.

I cannot complain, though. Now I can see Pac-Man beating the s*** out of Kazuya with his own hands and not using a Mokujin robot, an actual Mario vs. Erdrick fight (as teased in Fortune Street), Banjo-Kazooie handling King K. Rool's a** and a semi Wreck-It Ralph reunion (Sonic, Pac-Man, Ryu, Ken, Bowser).

Been mulling around who Nintendo would want rather than what we'd want for some time, and I've been thinking on the possibility of it being Paper Mario. First-party makes it easy to add without needs for negotiation, Byleth's inclusion shows their recent timeframe looking to add characters to promote games that were still in development themselves during the subsequent Smash character's development (Technically also true with Roy, Greninja and Incineroar but was going with the most recent example), the character has a convenient already established fan base alongside the more recent game's new direction that they're trying to attract new customers with and ending the biggest Smash game with Mario where it also started with Mario sounds like the sort of artistic pomp Nintendo would like to showcase.

I'd be fine with Paper Mario personally, but I only played the first two games. Have Origami King but haven't had the desire to play it yet. So I'm quote-on-quote "part of the problem with Paper Mario" or so I hear from YouTubers. Eh. I suppose you can get a nice rounded moveset out of his hammer, spiked boots, the paint stuff from Color Splash being lifted from Inklings in Smash and those accordion arms from Origami King for grabs. Basic Mario in Smash is a nice mash-up from a bunch of 3D Mario games after all.

I’d be happy for cat Mario, or cat bowser to finish it off. I feel like they could make either of those real fun to play as! But then again, what if it was the noid from that old dominoes game, Yo Noid! That would break the Inter web !

Two of my top three picks for FP2 were shot down by other characters from the same series getting in (Elma and Terra, we got Pyra/Mythra and Sephiroth instead), so at this point, it just leaves... Gordon Freeman. I know he has absolutely no chance of getting in of course, but he'd be my crazy dream pick at this point.

Otherwise, some others I'd like to see in Smash at some point are Crash, Rayman, Doomguy, Claire Redfield, Impa, and Neku Sakuraba (although Neku's not getting in since we got Sephiroth). I do kind of want this last rep to be a first-party one though; I can't think of a ton off the top of my head I'm dying to see added in who aren't already shot down by other FP2 characters or assist trophies, but I do think that people tend to forget this is a Nintendo game first and foremost. I think they're always fun surprises even if they aren't ones I was actively cheering for, too!

I got a better idea

You play as photo dojo, but it's extremely complicated to get it to work. First you gotta buy the Nintendo camera, then the Nintendo camera adapter, then connect it to your nintendo switch online app, then get the photo dojo admin team approve of your character to see if it's appropriate, then download another app to connect the switch app to download the smash character, then voila! A skin you can't even use online

The last one might be Samus Aran from Metroid Dread. It aligns well with the release date. 🙂

Every month there's some popular new game that's trending on Youtube and you expect Sakurai to immediately know that it exists and he will put in Smash.

First it was kids asking for Freddy Fazbear, then it was Undertale, then it was Amogus, and now it's Friday Funkin'.

@Bizzyb I just realized that almost every major Japanese gaming company has like two reps in Smash already but Tecmo Koei doesn't have one even though they have an assist trophy from one of their franchises (Fatal Frame).

I really hope Nintendo starts to sell the Smash roaster poster once the final character is announced, that will be selling like hot cakes. I am super happy with all the characters that have been added and excited to see who they go with. My wishlist is:
Impa (Age of Calamity with a Hyrule Warriors skin). Would die for this character

If the last character is a Nintendo character, I think it should be a Splatoon character not to hype the third entry, but it just makes sense to have another character from the Splatoon franchise after how much it's done to Nintendo. The franchise changed my view on Nintendo, showing that they can create New IPs and make them successful.

I hope the last one will be Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear - He is iconic and cool character. Even more - we have two Guilty Gear games on Nintendo Switch(Hello Bandai Namco, what do you think about Tekken game on Switch?). So, Sol's appearance in SSB. U will be welcome.

The only way for Nintendo to reason the huge delay of Doom Eternal and DLC would be to release the final dlc along with doom guy to sync its marketing! Doom has great soundtrack, long running series, origins of FPS! They should release Doom Guy! Plus all the efforts to make Doom work on switch so well, they deserve to have him in Smash for such brilliant work and support like no others.

Mii Costume: Rayman, Crash, Master Chief, and Sub Zero with music. Though I really do want Scorpion, I've heard that Mortal Kombat is somewhat banned in Japan so DLC fighter would be impossible. And Scorpion's signature Get Over Here is impossible for a Mii Costume so you have Sub Zero instead.

DLC Fighter: Honestly I want Crash, but maybe Crash isn't the best option as a final character. So instead I'm hoping for Isaac + new Golden Sun game announcement.

@FargusPelagius random fighting game? Terry is from SNK and one of the biggest fighting games out there and Kazuya is from the biggest 3D fighting game. Random fighting games? They are icons in the fighting games! Random would be... let's say Bad Mr. Frosty from Clayfighters or Mudman from World Heroes. But calling Ryu, Ken, Terry and Kazuya random is like calling Mario a "Random platformer game".

I’m guessing it’s a First Party character but one with a history. Maybe a Mario or a Zelda character. Zelda would be fitting with the anniversary this year. Plus, I think they are going to release it with three stages(just to make the character and stage selection screen look tidy). I could see a Mario character with 3 stages. Who knows though, for all we really know it could be Parapa the Rappa at this point. Guess we gotta just wait it out!

Goku or Batman or Spiderman would all be a good one to end on. My guess is it will be the green boot from SMB 3 😄

Wow, I read all these comments and I can't believe how blind you lot are. The great pillars of jrpg are final fantasy, dragon quest and shin megami tensei . Hence, the last challenger will be Nahobino from SMT V coming in November. (Joker from persona 5 does not count since it's a spinoff of the smt series). ATLUS belonging to Sega, Robotnik will most likely be released at the same time as a Mii fighter .

@WillKafka even if you make sense, we learned something along the way: Sakurai choices doesn't make sense, they doesn't follow any rules and they are totally unpredictable. So, if something makes sense to happen, it won't probably happen.

@Oppyz666 Nintendo Senior management dictates Sakurai's choices. It's on their best interest to revive SMT, xenoblade, fire emblem in western audiences. (Thus the reason on having so much Fire emblem characters in smash)

too much difficult to predict the final character of Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Sakuai could add a highy requested character such as Crash Bandicoot or someone no one want such as another Fire Emblem character or a Gen 8 Pokémon.

If it's first party...I'm expecting someone from Advance Wars, in all honesty. The ship sailed long ago for a Pokemon, and most of the other candidates don't strike me as likely. Nintendo's going to want to push a rare series revival so it's successful, though, and Smash would be ideal for that.

But I'm leaning towards it being another third party right now, albeit a smaller one like Ryu Hayabusa instead of a heavy hitter like Crash

There will actually be two fighters. It will catch everyone off guard and be a pleasant surprise. The first one will be incredible and the second will be the cherry on top. You heard it hear first.

@Oppyz666 Yeah they are quality franchises for sure, just very poorly represented on Nintendo consoles, same with Cloud (and Sephiroth) from FF. Smash was a celebration of Nintendo at it's core.
Good inclusions of Minmin and Banjo Kazooie though. I also kind of get the Tekken inclusion as Namco helped dev Smash anyway. Why Terry before a DoA character? Or a Sam Sho character?. It is as if they plucked a random franchise and fighter out of a big hat. So yeah roll on the Clayfighter rep, or body blows, mace the dark age, G.A.S.P, fighters destiny (awesome game), bio freaks, mortal kombat (had better representation than most), bloody roar, the Rock (appeared in more games than Terry has on Nintendo)etc.
Edit: it would be a lovely thing to put Sakurai himself in the game? I'd actually buy the second pack if it was him. Great way to see the game finished.

@YoungLink64 Even folks you know irl? That's a shame. I often complain about online Fandoms because most are pretty toxic, the worst being Pokemon, Star Wars, Smash and Sonic in my experience.

But generally people I deal with irl aren't nearly as bad. People irl don't have that shield of a username and a screen. It's a lot harder to be a raving jerk in person and avoid the consequences of treating people like crap in person. Lol

See, I don't like Kylo Ren or really almost anything of the new Disney canon at all outside of the Mando. I grew up with what's now called "Legends". All the books, games and comics from the 90s, 00s and so. The new canon is extremely different. But that's fine, people can like different things and different parts of different things.

But many, many SW fans are almost as bad as talking politics. But instead of real, serious issues that often warrant that passionate opinion and debate, SW is entirely fictional. I'm not hurting anyone if I say I don't like Kylo Ren. And you'd not be hurting anyone if you said you hate Jaina Solo. lol

Highly doubt they could work things out to where Sakurai was playing development builds to get an idea of what to do for the character because the series is third party and there'd probably be a ton of hoops to jump through. On the rare occasions we've seen third party content from upcoming games in Smash, it's minimal enough to where it wouldn't warrant something like that

Legendary would be indeed a Tetris or DOOM related fighter, as for how popular and inspiring these games were for the whole industry.
As for Capcom, I think Phoenix Wright should be in the game in one way or another. And Monster Hunter still isn't completely deconfirmed.
But I have a feeling the last one is a Nintendo(-related) character, and I hope it's from a franchise that is not yet represented with a fighter. Something along the lines of SMTV, Advance Wars, Famicom Detective Club, Rhythm Paradise, Ring Fit Adventure, Chibi Robo, Golden Sun, or Prof. Layton.

I also like last jedi the most of the new Trilogy.
It makes Things different.

The first feels as it rushes through the Story and has some really stupid Story Elements.
The last is ok, but could be better.

After the Destruction of the capital Planet and around and the destruction of the Fleet it was thinking that the Galaxy is fked up.
It seems really dark.
But this fked up leads into nothing.
It means nothing that everything is destroyed.

There is a deep political Void now in the Galaxy, could make up a really interesting follow up

Tbh, GOOD. The characters that are most iconic are in. Recent additions like Sephiroth and Kazuya are impressive and iconic to gaming but other characters from more recent titles feel like they are just playable advertisements for whatever game was out at the time. With no where near the pedigree, history or impact of the characters originally on the roaster. It kills the game's museum, creme de la creme vibe. At this point we're scrapping the bottom of the barrel for some of these "icons". Also I always wish all the effort put on new character went to new modes or actual game play stuff instead but that never happened. Oh well. Sakurai. I'm all for you being done and taking a long break.
