EA's Star Wars: Battlefront from 2015 remains in the top spot as the best selling Star Wars game of all time within this region, and following it is EA's more recent release, Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.
Of the top ten games, five of them have been released on Nintendo's platforms. The Nintendo 64 and PC game Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire even makes it into the tenth spot.
What do you think of the top ten best-selling Star Wars games in the US? Have you played all of these games or at least some of them? What's your favourite Star Wars game? Tell us in the comments.

Lego Star Wars ftw!
I heard jedi fallen order did well and I'm glad it did. For some reason (probably the map and sci finess) it felt like the closest thing we had to a new prime game but 4 baby woohoo
Yeah, Lego Star Wars was hype AF back in elementary school. I've always loved the Lego series but those first two Star Wars games will always be special.
Many agree that KOTR is the best even if its not on top of the charts
Glad to Shadows of the Empire hanging in there!
Further proof that best selling does not mean best.
@3RedTriangles Indeed. IMO, the Battlefront games are all garbage. Yes, even the originals.
I did like Fallen Order though, so I'm happy to see that in #2.
Glad to see Jedi Fallen Order in #2, Sad to see Battlefront II (2017) in #3 because it deserves lower.
@Xiovanni I played Force Unleashed recently and it’s absolute steaming garbage. Some of the most unsatisfying gameplay I’ve ever had the misfortune of playing. Lego Star Wars on the other hand is a stone cold classic.
Good to see my boys boycotting Battlefront II (2017) are still keeping it below Battlefront (2015) and Jedi: Fallen Order. Good work, soldiers.
@Ghostchip
Biggest problems it has is the combat being designed with a over reliance on countering when mistiming will end up either a a 1/2 or 1/4 of your hp taken away by even damn near every enemy. I know this a problem with all Star Wars games but this one has the most true to film looking graphics and presentation so it really feels frustrating that hitting any enemy from some lowly space animal to a stormtrooper with a lightsaber is barely registered by them beyond a slight flinch and HP lowering and usually the impact when they attack the player is much much severe, their attacks always seem to have higher priority over your own and will quickly home into you mid attack to make dodging useless, they put in all these giant optimal boss monsters that have the same high priority leaping attacks that are a near instant kill while all you can wittle way at their health bar, it wants to be a From game but you don’t have the build options and items you can use where you have many many ways for dealing with a boss like that.
They also copy pasted the From checkpoint system while knowing load times after death can take up to a minute on consoles which makes dying even worse and doesn’t leave room for practice when you’re having to stare at a screen for a minute so I imagine this and the constant hitches that even BC on PS5/XB won’t fix are the reasons they’re making a free dedicated nextgen upgrade to them
That list makes me sad. Like none of my favorite Star Wars games are there. No Rogue Squadron, no KOTOR, no Empire at War???
How was I born on this planet? I swear I'm an outcast even with regards to things I like.
At least Shadows of the Empire got in.
Shadows of the Empire!!!!!!=)
@dimi I think the KoTOR games are way overrated. If you have played it post Mass Effect, you realise that BioWare reused a lot of story elements but made them better in Mass Effect. I think people mainly get excited for it because it is a gritty Star Wars tale, but it doesn't really feel like Star Wars, definitely feels like a precursor to Mass Effect though. For a Star Wars game I much prefer Battlefront 2 classic, the Rogue Squadron series, Jedi Knight Academy, Fallen Order and heck, even the LEGO games.
I should really get back to playing Kotor but the battle system kinda isn't working for me. It's way too confusing sometimes. I hear the second game is supposed to be pretty good but it was also rushed and loaded with bugs as well as having alot of unfinished content. These are supposed to be the ultimate star wars RPG's so why am i not loving them? Maybe i just waited too long to play them and they are too dated for newcomers. I don't know.
It's great that Jedi Fallen order sold pretty well. Hopefully it'll prove to EA that single player games aren't dead. The game's also pretty solid, which is surprising coming from them.
Lego starwars is also a classic. I remember replaying it over and over again as a kid, especially Lego Starwars the Complete Saga for the Nintendo DS.
@VoidofLight I also got it for DS specifically because I had the GC versions and wanted a portable option, the game's still really fun and it's full of unique minigames. It was definitely a great deal back then, though I remember this one kid at school who laughed and said I got the one with the worst graphics lol.
@AlienX I honestly believe the DS as a whole is why I don't really care for graphics. It had so many great games, including the Complete Saga, and to me it just mattered if the games were fun in the end of it.
I'm playing Fallen Order right now - maybe 60% through and it's been kicking my backside at times. It's really good. The surprising thing for me is its got a good combination of action AND quiet exploration with only supple use of music and sound effects. In that respect it's got a bit of Super Metroid / Axiom Verge isolation about it. Plus your saber feels very authentic. I think the protagonist will appear in the Mandalorian Series 3
Well, nr.3 is prove that lootboxes & microtransactions will still be a thing...
Jedi: Fallen Order is an extremely good game. So it definitely deserves that spot.
@nessisonett was it the Xbox/PS3 version or the Wii version? Surprisingly, the Wii version is a lot more fun. The waggle is fine and it is a lot easier to control force powers with the wiimote and nunchuck (picking up stormtroopers with the force and throwing them into the Death Star’s beam never gets old!).
The levels are better as well; it’s not so easy to get lost and the addition of the three levels in the Jedi temple are much more interesting than some of the levels in the Xbox version. The only thing you need to look past is the graphics. The opening cutscene at first made me think I was playing a PS2 game (which it is a port of) but I soon forgot about it and just enjoyed the combat and searching for collectibles. I have played through both versions and the Wii version is much more fun.
Best Star Wars games are the old PC flight sims: X-wing, Tie Fighter, X-wing vs Tie Fighter and X-Wing Alliance. Plus anything with Kyle Katarn!
Did not expect to see shadows of the empire there. First game I bought for the N64... nah that I’d be interested to have the remastered touch to, lots of good memories with that game
The last Star Wars game I played was “Rebel assault 2” (and inexplicably it didn’t make the cut... shocking!) I don’t really care about games based on movies. Or movies based on games for that case...
Still missing the snes games, they are great games! Why aren’t these games on the snes nso service?
Never forget the growing Market.
The gaming Audience is much MUUUUCH bigger nowadays than it was in the 90s or early 2000s.
So even with a crappy Game you'll reach much more People than 1999.
Also, it depends hardly on who the Game is aiming.
The Simulation Games are really great, but since they are specialized in one Cathegory they'll sell to that Audience.
So to spot the best Starwars Game is not as easy to do it only by Numbers
If not, Mc Donalds would count as the best Restaurant ever.
@brunojenso if it's kicking your ass now, wait until the final two bosses. I found the game difficultly not too bad after the initial learning curve, then it just seemed to ramp up massively on the last two boss fights. Was definitely rewarding beating them both mind you, one of my favourite games of recent years.
I don't know how people play ANY Lego game. Sooooo fuuuuucking duuuuulll.
I decided to play the 16 bit adventures yesterday. Man, I forgot how hard they were.
Wouldn't mind knowing the physical/digital split. Personally I own the top three and I bought them all secondhand. Does being included in the ps plus monthly games contribute to sales figures?
@RetroXombi F*cken oath they were. Young me did not have the anger management skills adult me has. The game rage drew heavily from the dark side.
Ah yes, that time of the year I am constantly reminded of the completed and unreleased Wii version of Rogue Leaders and always hope they make a new HD remaster of the entire trilogy. But alas, no... it is things like this this that turn people to the Dark Side.
Remember you can’t spell weak without EA…
I still can’t believe how badly they messed up the battlefront games. The original games provided a perfect formula, but EA releases a bare minimum effort. 2015 Battlefront was just pitiful. I didn’t play the sequel, I did hear that one is better though. And in EA’s own mind, they were successful since they sold so much.
My top 3 would be:
Knights of the Old Republic
Classic Battlefront
Lego Star Wars
Not too much Star Wars in my gaming history, and what titles I did play (Super Return of the Jedi/SNES, Episode 1: Pod Racer/N64, & Starfighter/PS2) I never beat, at least not without cheats.
I've been getting more into them recently though. After getting it for cheap I ran through Battlefront II's (2017) story mode, played Vader Immortal on PSVR which was cool, Republic Commando on Switch which was tough but fun, and am now working my way through Jedi: Fallen Order.
@matdub 1. They are designed to be very co-op friendly. 2. The same lack of difficulty that makes them co-op friendly also makes them more approachable to less skilled players. 3. LEGO games are graphically and mechanically simple enough to port to just about everything of note.
Not surprised about Fallen Order. It should be number 1 IMO. Damn fine game.
Glad to see Fallen Order doing so well. It’s a really high quality product that I need to go back to (I got a bit bored with the backtracking) at some point. Also quite pleased for Battlefront 2, I know the first EA game was bare bones but I’ve got a very decent amount of fun out of the Single-Player modes and blasting through the ‘Arcade’ Scenarios in Co-Op. all Lego Star Wars games are great, so no surprise there.
Huh I'm extremely surprised that SWTOR isn't on that list. Very sad that no Jedi Knight game is on it. And not surprised KOTOR isn't on it even though it deserves it.
Very hard to believe that Knights of the Old Republic didn't even crack this top ten.
@nessisonett Which version did you play? The Wii version might look a little rough, but the motion controls really make it feel much better. Being able to actually force push for example, can be quite immersive.
@Antiriad2097 PS3 version. Not a fun game.
Aw, no love for LEGO Star Wars III...
It's more niche and not as good as the previous ones, but still.
@Frank-The-Tank Imo battlefront 2 had a comeback better than any game I’ve seen. They totally removed the ***** dlc after only half a year, added great clone wars content, and added fun progression. It doesn’t merit a boycott any longer.
@Zeldafan79 I only played KOTOR a year ago and love them both. If you used the restored content mod on number 2 it’s much better. I also am a huge rpg nerd though so the mechanics didn’t phase me.
@WillQuan You've got me conserned now - I'm not the best at combat systems. I've just beat the giant bat-like creature - on first go but I kinda think I got lucky. Is that before the two bosses you're talking about? I'm on normal difficulty so if I really can't get through I suppose I'll have to drop it to easy – but I hope I don't have too.
Mostly though I just want to experience the whole game and story. It's been a great ride so far with lots of modern Tomb Raider/Unchartered like exploration. I love big story driven 'movie-esk' games like this.
I know it's kind of popular to bash the newer EA Star Wars Battlefront games, but to me they're some of the best Star Wars games ever in terms of capturing the look, feel & sound of that universe. Yes they could be better (especially in terms of single player content, and less looty & grindy to unlock everything- unless you pay extra $ smh), but they are very good games for what they are and aimed to do and are still fun imo.
@Xiovanni @nessisonett Did you try the Wii version? The Wii version of "Force Unleashed" has amazing motion controls to the point that it's actually the best version of the game (along with a few other reasons like its good exclusive multiplayer mode)! Overall, the game is excellent, especially with its gameplay!
Now the sequel, yes, that one is pretty much garbage.
@Gamecuber The Jedi Temple levels were later added to the other versions as DLC (although they're free on the Wii), but the Wii version of "Force Unleashed" also has a truly exclusive level (well, it was also in the PS2 and PSP versions, but nobody cares about those) where you recruit Garm Bel Iblis and get to fight a crazed Gungan warrior as the boss.
@brunojenso Yeah it's the two bosses after that one I believe, don't want to ruin anything for you though. Strangely I'm not normally into the big budget movie style games but I think the dark souls feel of the game is what I enjoyed. Was fantastic though and I do love a good Star Wars game, definitely in my top 3 of them alongside the original Battlefront 2 and Pod Racer.
@Heavyarms55 Kotor is easily my favorite
@Ghostchip KOTOR is great but I like KOTOR2 a tad more. Although at this point I kind of think of them as one game.
@BulbasaurusRex I’d forgotten all about that level! Very satisfying taking out Episode 1 frustration on a Gungan!
@Heavyarms55 Haven't played 2! Just got a computer so maybe now is the time I forgot most of what happens in 1 lol maybe replay both
@wuntyme8 new battlefront 2 is now a game for the players and fans. When it launched it was the opposite but I encourage people to go back and see just how consumer friendly it is now. If you get the new version celebration something (actually really cheap I got it for free from epic) you get almost all cosmetics free
@Ghostchip Get 2 and get the "Restored Content" mod. 2 got rushed out the door by the publisher forcing the devs to cut Content. But that unfinished stuff leaked years ago and fans finished it and added it back in.
I love the game because almost all party members have deep stories and can become jedi or sith. And the game has a much higher level cap. Which let's you really feel powerful in the late game.
The initial release of Star Wars Galaxies, KOTOR I/II, Fallen Order, Jedi Outcast and Academy, Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.
@Ghostchip Oh I know and agree. I've had it since the beginning and have gone back to it many times since. I have to delete it every so often for disk space reasons (it's a big PS4 space eater). Still fun and much better overall now.
@Heavyarms55 That sounds phenomenal! Star wars all the way!
