Super Monkey Ball

After being rated in Australia and Brazil, box art and screenshots for a new Monkey Ball game have now surfaced online.

As previously revealed by these classification boards, the game is known as Super Monkey Ball Banana Mania and will apparently be coming to all platforms including the Nintendo Switch.

The same tweets suggest we'll learn more about this game at Nintendo's upcoming E3 Direct:

Over very own Nintendo Life video producer Jon Cartwright has provided his own thoughts - noting how the screenshots match up with Super Monkey Ball 2 and appear to incorporate the art style of Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD:

A reveal at Nintendo's Direct presentation would make a lot of sense considering the history the Super Monkey Ball series has with Nintendo hardware. After Sega's Dreamcast failed, the original game was brought across to the GameCube in 2001 and followed with the sequel's release in 2002.

The existence of a new game dates back to last June when the Monkey Ball announcer Brian Matt teased a new project. This was followed by Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi mentioning how he would like to do more with the Monkey Ball series.
