Re: NERD Explains The Challenge Of Bringing Super Mario Sunshine To Switch

I would guess that eventually the all stars collection games will go on sale individually. Or maybe the triumphant return of Nintendo Selects in a year or so, after the Zelda anniversary. There are so many great Gamecube games they could bring over. Luigi’s Mansion, F-Zero, Mario Strikers, chibi robo, paper mario. double dash, a good mario party game... these games are 20 years old now just bring them over! And yes I know this won’t happen haha!

Re: Talking Point: Is Zelda An RPG, Or Not?

In the traditional sense, not really. But I would say most Zelda games have RPG elements.

It really depends on what an RPG is to YOU. To some that means xp, leveling up... to others it just means an adventure where you can choose to make different decisions. Wheel of Fortune on the Nintendo Wii allows you to choose an outfit, customize your mii, unlock new stages and costumes, you can choose how your “character” answers the puzzles. It technically has RPG elements. Does that make it an RPG? Sure why not. If you want to call it that, technically your not wrong. Technically...

I recently went back to play Mario 64 and for the first time ever I got all 120 stars, I have to say that the camera is awful, the controls are not great, the graphics are outdated, some levels are brutal... but I absolutely love this game. It still a blast to run through these levels grabbing stars, triple jumping, wall kicking and long jumping everywhere. Once you adjust to the “outdated” stuff, this game is still an absolute gem and fun to play even today.

Re: Soapbox: I'm Tired Of Ports And Remakes - Where Are All Nintendo's New Ideas?

E_Gadds_Garage

Obviously original games are better and more interesting. At the same time, ports make these games more accessible. I think back to the GBA era, I got to play Donkey Kong Country, Mario bros 2 and 3... tons of NES and SNES game that I would not have gotten to play.

Ports depend on perspective. Not everyone had a gamecube, or Wii or Wii U. There’s a whole new audience for games like skyward sword, some of the kids who buy that game might not have been born when it came out! Also the switch got many older Nintendo fans, who could have skipped other consoles, back into gaming. Balance and moderation in everything, ports and new games are both good!

Luigi’s Mansion 3 is a steal at this price.

Super Mario Party was a very vanilla experience. Back on the GameCube ones, they incorporated lots of characters and boards from other games. Why not incorporate boards based on Mario Odyssey? The characters from those different kingdoms have had no appearances outside of of Odyssey itself. The Piantas from Sunshine were in everything at the time (double dash, tennis, paper mario ttyd...) It’s a shame to waste them. Give us a Luigi’s Mansion Board with different floors, or a Bowsers fury board with all sorts of chaos happening, or a mario maker board or a galaxy board. There’s so much potential for a Mario Party game right now.
