Re: Hiroshi Yamauchi Might Feel Envious Of Switch 2's Success, Says Miyamoto

@Anti-Matter inferring no common sense is a slight against most on here.

Repetition of the same constant views to garner clicks is neither helpful or useful in the conversation.

I dont understand the effort you put into this site on a daily basis to repeat the same narrative.

You are open and to the point of your dislike of the Switch 2. Do as you please but I would suggest its probably not doing yourself any good investing so much time in something you clearly dont like and all of this negativity.

Re: Square Enix Hit By Mass Layoffs As Part Of Global Restructuring

Sad to see any loss of jobs and hope all affected find new jobs quickly.

I do think Square is at its best when it focuses on its roots and it has a sizeable back catalogue to tap into.

Theyve been burnt in recent years on triple AAA budgets and exclusivity.

Please dont do anything stupid with DQ12. It works because it works.

Re: Opinion: Third-Party Support For Switch 2 Is Already A Dream Come True

Duncanballs

@PinballBuzzbro If you are benchmarking a £400 hybrid device against PC. PS5 and Series X, yes the SW2 will struggle to meet the same performance.

Its the weakest out of the 3.

However, if you keep your expectations in check, the ports so far have been pretty damn impressive IMO and rival or surpass handheld hardware at a similar price point.

Ive played a number of the 3rd party releases and they are far from the buggy mess you allude to.

Re: Sakurai Confirms Day One Update For Kirby Air Riders On Switch 2

Duncanballs

Whilst I appreciate that day 1 updates are not liked by some with a desire for everything to be truly physical, they've been around for ages.

In truth, I don't think they are a bad thing. Yes if it's a sizeable day 1, you could argue the point of just delay it.

But thinking back to some of the quirks, bugs and missed opportunities with some games in the 80s and 90s, patches would have been welcomed. You got what you got.

I say the above with an opinion, paid DLC should really be additional content on an already feature rich product and major fixes et al shouldnt be from a complacency standpoint of we can fix it later.

Call me a fanboy but I would argue that Nintendo is overall one of the least guilty of either scenario.

Re: Dragon Quest VII: Reimagined Producer Reckons We're Ready For Its Dark, Sorrowful Story

@Serpenterror but equally they are not counterfeit. They are legitimate items for purchase and open about what they are.

I dont think Nintendo is any greedier than any other business out there. Unless they are a not for profit, their sole purpose is to make money.

We all have a choice to buy a product or not.

I would buy into an argument/debate of greed for essentials like food, medicine etc but gaming is something we could all live without.

Whilst I hear concerns of future download capabilities with GKC, as an example, I probably played about 200+ games on the Amiga. I probably go back to only about 20 of them and most can be obtained legitimately through a minor cost. Digital is the future and Im not missing physical even knowing that some things might not be available or Ive got to pay again.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

Duncanballs

@Gamecuber lost so much time to that game. Ken was my goto and Vega my nemesis. I did beat 7 stars once or twice. Heavily rumoured at the time that if you beat 7 stars with perfects you would unlock a secret character ....... not true of course and near impossible to achieve. Great memories.

Re: Talking Point: How Do You Play NES Games These Days?

My journey into gaming was the Atari 2600, the C64 and then the Amiga.

SF2 was massive in the arcades and when it released on the SNES, my Megadrive was sold and after a few extra paper rounds, I was off to Dixons to get a SF2 SNES bundle.

C64 was my 8 bit experience and a fantastic one at that. I missed the NES but from memory in the UK, I dont remember many of my friends having one.

I struggle with some of the dated 8 bit offerings these days but will go back to the C64 now and again for nostalgia.

A couple of weeks ago, I played "Rockstar Ate My Hamster" ...... weird game but it's still great 👍

Re: Switch 2 Bundles Get A Surprise Price Drop At Select French Retailers

Duncanballs

@JumpingJackson just makes me smile sometimes in how some will spin a negative from the most minor of things ...... being Nintendo fans, we should be used to it 😃

A lot of retailers probably went with RRP at launch for the big demand phase. Its good seeing prices below RRP now as we are seeing competition. I haven't bought a new SW1 release at full price in years. Normally at launch a number of retailers in the UK are at 15% ish below RRP.
